Hello and welcome listeners to Episode 282 of Journey with a Cinephile: A Horror Movie Podcast. In this episode, your tour guide, David Garrett Jr., moves into his Voyage through the FiVes, Episode #1. This sees a double feature of Mad Love (1935) with The Gorge (2025). This makes for an interesting pairing, in that both have elements of romance. There are different types of monsters to go with it. I also got to see these films for Mini-Reviews: Repulsion (1965), Baby Oopsie 3: Burn Baby Burn (2022), A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child (1989), Lips of Blood (1975) and then a documentary on a cryptid, Boggy Creek Monster (2016). Plus, I cover 3 episodes of Agatha All Along. Listen to today's podcast... I am so done with winter. It is wearing on my nerves and making me seriously want to move to another country – preferably with snow only in the remotest of locations…just in case I do want to see it again. But that is not likely. Today is Snowman Burning Day. It is a day to celebrate the changing of season and where we hopefully can soon leave winter behind us. I am not sure that burning a snowman will bring me some spring juju, but at this point I am willing to try. Take One Action Today To Build Your #Resiliency! Tips For Building Resiliency and Celebrating Snowman Burning Day: If you can't burn a snowman, try encouraging that spring feeling by bringing home some blooms. Even if it is not spring outside yet, some bright flowers can make the day shine a little brighter Make sure you have space to welcome spring into your home. Clear clutter from your display areas, closets, drawers and storage spaces. Donate, recycle or sell unused and unwanted clothing and household items. Host a Spring Party and break out the BBQ. Getting together with friends or family can lift some of the winter gloom. Finally, my favourite choice. Go out for ice cream. Nothing says good-bye to winter more than enjoying an ice cream cone. Looking for more tips to build your resiliency? Look for my book on Amazon called Stress Out. 52 Weeks To Letting More Life In #mentalhealth #hr
It's a trio of films that seems specifically designed to torture one of your intrepid co-hosts, but William Butler's BABY OOPSIE trilogy has a few surprises in store. The singularly irritating Demonic Toy takes center stage this week for BABY OOPSIE, MURDERDOLLS, and BURN BABY BURN, three films adapted from a two-season web series. The titular Kelly of Kelly's Taboo Terrors joins us this week to honor one of her favorite horror icons. After Dark with Hosts Rob & Andrew – To hopscotch over a black woman to white men, whom Democrats have identified as toxic, over the first black vice president would be political suicide. And as one black female commentator warned, black women would “ blow the party up” and burn down the party. Then there is talk of Michelle Obama, the first black First Lady, stepping up. If so, where does that leave Harris playing second fiddle to Obama?

(Aired April 11, 2024) DomainSherpa – Down The Rabbit Hole – April 11, 2024: Burn Baby Burn As we say on DomainSherpa - all roads lead to domains. And in the reverse, our work with domains has us venturing "down the rabbit hole" into different topics all the time. So this is a tech-adjacent, digital asset, pop-culture, tangent-positive monthly podcast - with some domains stuff thrown into the mix for good measure. In this episode, JT is joined by Drew, Shane and special guest Mike Carson, founder of Park.io, to discuss his new project. After selling Park.io to Dynadot, Mike shifted focus to Impervious.com and Spaces, a naming protocol that leverages the existing infrastructure and security of Bitcoin without requiring a new blockchain or modifying to Bitcoin itself. Spaces serves as community identifiers that are distributed thru an auction process built using pre-existing Bitcoin scripting capabilities. The Sherpas also get into discussions about Bitcoin, Web3, censorship, free-speech, decentralization, and the recent solar eclipse. So, tune in and jump down the rabbit hole with the Rabbit Hole Gang! So, tune in and jump down the rabbit hole with the Rabbit Hole Gang!

When I heard Kara Swisher was writing her memoir, Burn Book, I couldn't wait. Besides being one of - if not the - most influential Journalists covering Silicon Valley and tech at the rise of the Internet Age, she's a stupendous writer, and is never one to shy away from calling bullsh*t. Admission - at this recording I've only read the introduction. Mostly because it's already clearly a page turner and deserves clearing some time and reading it cover to cover … so I'll report back. But already one point landed. One of the most influential Journalists - someone who now serves as a pundit and analyst of the industry she once near-revered - admits that we were asleep at the wheel. My words, not hers. Here's the thing - with voices like Kara's we are now wide awake, and there's still time to get hands back on the wheel and straighten the course. Question is, will we? In a world where what passes for radical honesty usually means someone is just letting things fly outta their pie-hole without much care for others, it's time for radically authentic conversation. Conscious communication is simple, but often isn't easy. That's why Cathy Brooks created Talk, Unleashed – a weekly podcast of radically honest conversation about — everything. Whether her own musings or in conversation with industry leaders, each episode invites curiosity. Curiosity not about what people do, but why they do it. Who they are and what makes them tick. It's about digging underneath to reveal the thing that is most true - that we are more alike than we are not. A mix of solo episodes where Cathy shares her insights and experience or Cathy engaged in conversation with fascinating humans doing amazing things. No matter the format - it's unvarnished, radically honest and entirely unleashed. This podcast compliments Unleashed Leadership, the coaching business through which Cathy works with symphony orchestras, corporate clients, and individuals to help them unleash and untether their leadership and connect with others in a way that truly engages. #BurnBook #KaraSwisher #siliconvalley #journalism #memoir #brutalhonesty #radicalhonesty #consciouscommunication #leadership #Conversation #connection #TalkUnleashed #fiercecompassion #UnleashedConversation #UnleashedLeadership #FixYourEndofTheLeash

The guys talk abut playing instruments when they were younger and it's hard. Dave Grohl is a genius. Reminiscing about how the music we listened to started making it to radio. The term "spontaneous human combustion" refers to a situation when a human body is found with significant portions of the middle parts of the body reduced to ashes, much less damage to the head and extremities, and minimal damage to the direct surroundings of the body. Typically, no observable source of ignition is found in the vicinity of the victim and a bad smelling oily substance is noted. In the past, such a situation was erroneously attributed to supernatural powers, as such phenomenon occurs in the absence of any witness. Ok so, don't tell anyone, but making pizzas is an art. Like, don't try this at home kids..for real. Gem has a new appreciation for the upper crust so stay tuned for her latest that-will-never-happen moment; ambitions of becoming a pizza chef. Then it looks like the time for haircuts might have come (praise be) and Revz is maybe a little too excited. But not so excited she gets distracted from calling out Gem, like she promised she would, on her work schedule. This takes us into quite an unexpected but important discussion about burn out. As a weird chaser, Revz is frustrated with knickers and we talk porridge and YouTube. Happy Tuesday DLs, we adore you. Revz mention: Yoga Nidra For Sleep and Rest https://insig.ht/Dm9Zcc6HjBb

The C.O.W.S. welcomes Dr. Shawn Utsey. We were joined by Dr. Utsey approximately 30 minutes later than our agreed upon start time. Since he did not confirm with Gus for the program, there were many reasons to think he was not going to honor his agreement to speak with us. Dr. Utsey apologized for his tardiness and explained he was dealing with an emergency. Thankfully, we were able to discuss his film company, Burn Baby Burn, and his project on the history of Nat Turner. His documentary film, Until the Well Runs Dry: Medicine and the Exploitation of Black Bodies, details how black corpses were harvested for use by the Virginia medical college. White medical school students honed their anatomical knowledge and medical skills on stolen black carcasses. Chris Baker, a black male Victim of White Supremacy, was held hostage and forced to "acquire" the black bodies.
