"I asked myself, "Where would people never notice a town full of robots? Connecticut!" We watched the infamously camp remake of "The Stepford Wives" directed by Frank Oz with our friend Chris Gallo (Golden Girls Posters). We might be scratching our heads about the actual plot of this adaptation of the 1972 Ira Levin novel, but at a brisk ninty minutes (not including credits) do we really care? This cast is more full of gay icons than the Palm Springs Walk of Fame - powerhouse actresses like Bette Midler and Glenn Close absolutely knock these Paul Rudnick one-liners out of the park and they make just about any plot holes disappear. Nicole Kidman leads our cast as a disgraced TV exec exiled to Stepford Connecticut where the titular wives are a little too good to be true. Bette Midler is in top form playing an ultra liberal Stepford newbie getting into Scooby Gang shenanigans with Nic and Roger Bart as the gay soon to be "Stepford Husband". The would-be robotic antics of the wives are played for camp and Glenn Close is really killing it as the over the top alpha wife. The alleged script re-writes, on set clashes between actors and Oz and the general unevenness of the plot take their toll, but the women really carry this one and we could watch Glenn and Faith Hill Do-Si-Do with smoke coming out of their ears all day. Don't think too hard about this one - just let the microchips take over and enjoy the show. "Does anybody here know how many times I had to watch 'Funny Lady'?" We watched In & Out (1997) with our friend Chris (@golden_girls_posters) and Hot damn, what a faboulous window treatment... wait that was a trick! We still have questions about the premise, but you can't beat this cast with a stick. Kevin Kline nails it as an in the closet (?) high school teacher who gets outed by a famous former student. Somehow his mincing and general gayness isnt quite as offensive as a certain soon-to-be-former talk show host and we were still loling at the physical humor. Joan Cusack once again steals every scene she's in and absolutely deserves her Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. I still think Debbie Reynolds dressed as Thelma Harper is a hate crime especially in a movie as gay as this but it was 1997. Times and attitudes have changed but thanks to some knock out comedic performances this movie doesn't need to get cancelled... yet. To begin their conversation, Chris gives a refresh on what state and local taxes are and specifically how sales taxes have become the main area of focus due to the Wayfair ruling. He then explains what the Wayfair ruling is and how it has greatly impacted countless business who sell goods online to varying states since passing in 2018. Andrew and Chris talk about how before the ruling, the internet was the “wild west” of sales tax where many companies had loopholes to avoid addressing it and many states simply weren't collecting on it. Since the ruling, many online retailers have had to rethink how they file their taxes to ensure they are compliant to the tax policies of the various states they sell goods in. Chris also gives insight into the different types of online sales including marketplace facilitators such as Amazon and the sales tax laws that have been created for these types of companies. Later in the episode, Adam asks Chris about other taxes that have added to the complexity of sales tax such as BNO (Business and Opportunity) taxes in Washington state and gross receipts taxes which are all in addition to standard sales taxes but need to be handled in specific ways when it comes to filing. He further discusses the intricacies of sales taxes and how his team helps clients calculate their taxes and navigate the complexities with the help of robust technology. Chris then gives his recommendations on the best software out there to help calculate state and local tax and the benefits of utilizing technology and an advisor to avoid missteps in tax filing. If you have additional questions about sales tax compliance and are not sure where to start; BerganKDV can help. This is a gas safety podcast with Con Edison's senior vice-president of gas operations and Chris Gallo, Con Edison's senior manager with customer outreach. Smell Gas. Act Fast. Gas leaks can create fires and explosions. It's important that you and your family know how to recognize a gas leak and what to do if you suspect a leak. How to Recognize a Gas Leak —A distinctive, strong odor similar to rotten eggs See—A white cloud, mist, fog, bubbles in standing water, blowing dust, or vegetation that appears to be dead or dying for no reason Hear—Roaring, hissing, or whistling Why Natural Gas Smells Like Rotten Eggs Natural gas doesn’t actually smell like anything. That’s why we add a chemical called methyl mercaptan (methanethiol) to natural gas so you’ll be able to smell it in case of a leak. Mercaptan has a very distinct and unpleasant odor that many people compare to the smell of rotten eggs. What to Do If You Think There Is a Gas Leak If the odor is strong, leave immediately and take others with you. If you are outside, leave the area immediately. Don’t light a match or smoke, turn appliances or lights on or off (including flashlights), use a telephone, or start a car. Doing so can produce sparks that might cause the gas to explode. Find a phone away from the area and call 911 or 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633). You can report leaks anonymously. Don’t assume someone else will report it. National Grid customers should call 1-718-643-4050. Follow directions from emergency responders who are on site.

In this very exciting episode, the Freaks give some much needed love to the oft-neglected and sadly far, far underappreciated first (and Scott's personal favorite) Star Trek film -- Star Trek: The Motion Picture!! In the first half of the episode, Chris and Scott blab about their personal discoveries, thoughts, feelings, and insights on the film and its various incarnations, most especially the Director's Edition. Then in the second half of the show, the Freaks are joined by first timer to the show Luke (ljacone on thecomicforums.com) and returning guest-freak extra-ordinaire Chris Gallo (webhead) for fascinating round-table discussion of the first and most "science-fictiony" big-screen Trek!
