Episode #637 is another excellent crowdfunding doubleheader as Wayne talks with Paul Cornell and Rachael Smith from Who Killed Nessie? on Zoop.gg, then Matt Schorr from Jesus Christ: Demon Slayer on Kickstarter! It all begins with a fun interview with Paul Cornell and Rachael Smith from Who Killed Nessie? on Zoop.gg! Here's how this book is described: “Every year, legendary creatures from all over the world gather for an annual convention. But never has there been a murder. It's a comedy cryptozoological whodunnit about finding confidence through rationality and accepting a world of mysteries… by solving one.” We talk about who the characters are, how this convention story resembles real-life gatherings, and explore what else is coming soon from these great creators! Be sure you back this project before it concludes on Thursday, April 25! Then everything concludes with the return of Matt Schorr, who has a new Kickstarter underway for Jesus Christ: Demon Slayer. Here's the description: “Legends are whispered in the darkest corners of Damnation describing a time when the Son of God entered their domain to challenge Lucifer himself. Known for his teachings of peace on Earth, the Messiah waged a one-man war across the Shores of Hell, slaughtering any demon, devil or false god foolish enough to stand in his way. Now, the story can be told... .” We discuss how this story came to be, who the characters are, and what else Matt and his Schorr Manor Studio have heading our way in the months ahead! Be sure to back this Kickstarter before it concludes on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 12:48 p.m. EDT. Show your thanks to Major Spoilers for this episode by becoming a Major Spoilers Patreon member. It will help ensure Wayne's Comics Podcast continues far into the future!

We interviewed 4 beautiful women on the many ways they celebrate the winter holidays. We kick off with Steph interviewing her mom on what Christmas was like in the Philippines in the 1940s and 50s. For those of you watching on Spotify or YouTube, you can take a peek at the house Steph grew up in and her mom's rockin' purple hair. Proof you can still have fun at 79! Thank you for enlightening us with your traditions, Taina Rodriguez-Berardi, Sky Swisa and Rachael Smith. We heard themes around making and eating meals together, keeping religious traditions alive, singing, acting, dancing, and more. How do you celebrate the holidays? What are the traditions you keep and pass on from generation to generation? Did you start new traditions in your family? Happy holidays

We interrupt this Thought Bubble Festival coverage with an exciting ANIME NYC recap! Jimmy attended the show over the weekend and gives his thoughts on it all. A super fun show that was packed with enthusiastic anime/manga fans to be sure. Jimmy talks about Artist Alley and gives some recommendations of artists to check out. Also, is it the convention with the best food choices? YES! Since he's been doing so much convention coverage since June, Jimmy decided to throw in some comic book recommendations in as well. He talks about works he's loved recently from Penelope Bagieu, Rachael Smith, Becky Cloonan, Tula Lotay, Sarah Gordon, Luke Healy, Emilia McKenzie, Clio Isadora and Abigail J. Harding. All great comics in their own right so do seek them out. Also, get a hold of us! Thanks for listening!
Jimmy did several interviews before Thought Bubble Festival that he had planned on doing there. This way, his interview schedule wouldn't be too busy at the show. He met up with his friend Rachael Smith in Manchester to interview and hang. A chill and always hilarious time at her home. We talked her recent NAP COMIX, adorable new baby Henry (the star of said comic), THE QUEEN'S FAVORITE WITCH, a possible space opera in the works (wait...WHAT?!!) and more! Thx to Rachael for having Jimmy stay over and the interview! Jimmy also did a follow up with Arielle Jovellanos at Thought Bubble Festival. He had picked up her self-published comic JUST A SPELL at NYCC last month on the last day so didn't have a chance to read it before their interview there. (They talked about lots of other things so do go check that out). Now read, they talked about the original work, the world building, music involved and more. Also, get a hold of us! Thanks for listening!
Rachael Smith and her 15-year-old son were out in their neighbourhood on Sunday night when they saw something strange: a house cat squaring off with an exotic animal three times its size.

The pandemic made all her problems worse: she was isolated and depressed. Stuck scrolling the internet for horrible news, both global and personal. People were either terrified or bored, or a heady mixture of both. It was a weird time. Alcohol turned from a way of making everything a party into making everything bearable. A worrying turning point. She got better through therapy, and journaling through comics. Comics are how she make sense of the world. Making comics about her life helps her work out how she is feeling about things, and she realised she was feeling pretty awful about her relationship with alcohol. She's feeling a lot happier now.! The Lakes International Comic Art Festival, the established annual celebration of prestige comic artists, creators and publishers, once again took over a picturesque town in the UK's Lake District... but this time they weren't setting up their stalls in Kendal. Instead, they had moved beside your actual lake - I know, how novel! - with LICAF holding court in Bowness-On-Windermere over the weekend of Friday 14th-Sunday 16th October. I wasn't able to make it to the rest of the weekend's festivities - missing, by all accounts, some amazing panels. signings and appearances by world-renowned comic superstars, a performance by Charlie Adlard and his band, karaoke that will only be saved in the memory of those there and some boozy nights! However, what I took in on the Sunday was more than enough to tell me that this iteration of The Lakes International Comic Art Festival continues in the trend of a very respectable and enjoyable comic celebration. During my day, I managed to speak to a number of creatives who had been exhibiting at the show, including Rachael Smith who was basking in the glow of not only raving plaudits and reviews for her books - including the re-released WIRED UP WRONG and the standout of the lockdown QUARANTINE COMIX - but also of impending motherhood with a bairn on imminent arrival! Rachael talks to how QUARANTINE COMIX was being received by the Lakes crowds, how her weekend in the Comics Marketplace had gone and what was next for her and her work... In this episode, we meet Rachael Smith. Rachael and I were colleagues at Fuse where she headed up the brand partnerships team. Rachael was always very entrepreneurial and commercial and I was interested to see where this had taken her after she left in 2019 to work at EasyJet. We hear about her decision to go to university, how she then ended up at Fuse and then onto EasyJet just before Covid 19 hit and now what her role is at 777 Partners and how she is navigating working in a male dominated industry. Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Welcome to the only roundtable podcast in compliance. In 2021, Everything Compliance was honored by W3 as a top talk show in podcasting. In this episode, we have the quintet of Jay Rosen, Jonathan Armstrong, Jonathan Marks, Karen Woody and Matt Kelly. We conclude with our fan favorite Shout Outs and Rants. 1. Jay Rosen discusses the increased antitrust enforcement by the DOJ in the healthcare arena. Rosen shouts out to Rachael Smith, Gilnet Sainvil and High-Five Man which reminded Rosen of Johnny Bank from his childhood 2. Matt Kelly takes a deep dive into the SEC proposed rules cyber security disclosure. Kelly gives a ‘mild' rant to the SEC for proposing companies should have to disclose with 4 days after a cyber breach even if law enforcement asks a company not to do so. 3. Jonathan Armstrong looks data transfers from the EU to US and UK. Armstrong goes on his most epic rant ever using 2 funerals and a birthday party to excoriate Tory Politicians to not simply talk the talk but follow the rules when it comes to Covid-19 protocols. 4. Karen Woody wades into Elon Musk and his dalliances about investing in and potentially buying Twitter. Woody rants about the recent Declination with Disgorgement given to a MarshMac subsidiary in the UK, the Jardine Group Holdings and says this is simply a NPA and should be monikered as such. 5. Jonathan Marks discusses the difference between Tone at the Top and Conduct at the Top and why so many companies are falling short in the latter. Marks shouts out to Phillies 3rd baseman Alec Bohm who went from Phillies' fan goat to hero with a mea culpa and SF Giants assistant coach Alyssa Nakken, who became the first female to take the field and coach in the history of MLB. 6. Fox shouts out to author Margaret Atwood and in her book The Handmaiden's Tale, which is not a dystopian novel but a prophecy of current Texas in 2022. Ollie Peart finds out what St Paul's Cathedral, The Cenotaph and the United Nations Building in New York have in common with Portland Stone, which is mined from the Isle of Portland quarries in Dorset. The 150-million-year-old stone bears the fossilised imprint of creatures from the Jurassic era. The mining process has left behind a colossal, cavernous space. Huge, vaulted ceilings bridge between vast pillars of Portland Stone left by the miners. The miles of tunnels which twist and turn, hidden from the residents of Portland, could also hold the key to their future. There's a proposal to turn these deep mines into a biodiversity attraction where visitors can marvel, explore and learn about the future of this unique place and how it connects with the rest of the planet. Hosted and produced by Ollie Peart and Ian Ramsdale. Online producer: Rachael Smith. Executive producer Kathryn Morrison. Thanks to Mark Godden (Mine Manager, Albion Stone) and Sebastian Brooke (Project Director).
