We're talking swing players on the Portland Trail Blazers in today's episode. This isn't the best players on the roster but the player's whose performances bad or good will determine how competitive the Blazers can be this season. First up is Nassir Little, a budding 3-and-D wing that could start at small forward and change Portland's playoff chances with a breakout campaign. Then we have Shaedon Sharpe, the mystery man. If Sharpe struggles as a rookie it likely won't impact the win/loss column too dramatically in Portland, but if he's ready to contribute at a high level in year one then he likely raises the team's ceiling more than anyone else on the roster. Finally, new acquisition Jerami Grant might be the most impactful player on the roster. He's the answer to so many of Portland's challenging matchup questions and if he fits in well he'll solve things quickly. If Grant doesn't fit, the Blazers could end up struggling without many obvious solutions elsewhere on the roster. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

In Episode 1197, Sean Woodley is joined by Mike Richman (Locked On Blazers) for a crossover episode about OG Anunoby, the trade rumours tying him to the Portland Trail Blazers as they look to retool around Damian Lillard, and why it's unlikely that the Toronto Raptors would look to move the forward, even for a package involving the 7th-overall pick and Josh Hart. Off the top, they detail what makes OG such a good player, and why the Raptors would or would not be compelled to move him this off-season. Next, they attempt to piece together a package that mightm make sense for both sides. Josh Hart and #7 doesn't quite move the needle for Toronto in all likelihood, but what if Nassir Little were thrown in? And at that point does it become a little to rich for Portland to pull the trigger? Could something involving Anfernee Simons at all be on the table? Or is he valued to highly by the Blazers? Or perhaps Jusuf Nurkic makes sense for a Raptors team that doesn't have a traditional center? (He doesn't). Ultimately, if you're a Blazers fan eager to see OG in Portland, this is probably going to leave you feeling kind of sad. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! How many elite skills do the Trail Blazers have on their roster? A deep dive into the tracking data on NBA.com and bball-index.com gives us a look a the numbers behind the top flight skills currently on Portland's roster. Anfernee Simons and Damian Lillard are both high level pick and roll navigators, but Simons is also an elite spot up shooter and could be growing into a dangerous cutter of the ball. All those numbers give us an outline of what the Blazers might look like with their backcourt pairing for next season. Jusuf Nurkic is going to set a ton of screens, which bodes well for the big man because the numbers suggest he's an elite roll man. Let Nurk work with Simons or Lillard and you've got then ingredients for a potent offensive attack. Nassir Little grades out as an elite scorer coming off screens. When you consider how he might fit into the offensive scheme next season, there's reason for optimism that the Blazers could get more out of this elite skill from their fourth year wing. Josh Hart and Trendon Watford are both elite isolation scorers according to the tracking data. Seriously. Elite iso scorers. What might that mean for two Portland role players going forward? He said he wants the team to be competitive as quickly as possible with that six-man unit anchoring the direction and the decision making going forward. Cronin also touched on his draft approach, discussing what the team might do if it landed two lottery picks, including admitting trading a potential second lottery pick from New Orleans if that option becomes available. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague live as they discuss today's news around Nassir Little's injury - a torn labrum in his should - that will likely force him to miss significant time this season. While the Portland Trail Blazers may have been holding course on the year, neither ‘embracing the tank' nor ‘pushing for the play-in' - does this injury to Little change the calculus? Could this injury also force Portland to re-evaluate potential deals at the ever-nearing Trade Deadline of February 10th? With Damian Lillard likely done for the year and Little right alongside him - 2 of the 3 centerpieces of the franchise going forward (protect Anfernee Simons at all costs - ship him in bubble wrap to games) - could this tempt the Blazers to do something they've said they don't want to do? (See: “Don't ____ with the game”) After that it's a look around the league as Danny and Brandon assess local and national trade rumors and how they may impact Portland, the upcoming 4-game road trip and where the Blazers sit in the Tankathon rankings.
