Today we welcome Mary's former high school religion teacher, Meghan Larsen-Reidy, onto the podcast! Meghan and her husband Tim live in Pittsburgh, PA with their three fun, kind, and lively children. She loves hosting people for gatherings, reading, and perfecting recipes. She laughs loudly and loves being in the outdoors. In addition to these things, Meghan is a well-read former schoolteacher and is currently a Campus Minister within the diocese of Pittsburgh. Today she teaches us a bit about the Corporal Works of Mercy and how we can better integrate them into our daily life within our respective vocations. She shares practical tips as well as general wisdom, and (bonus!) her and her husband's amazing love story! As usual, we make ourselves laugh obnoxiously and C.S. Lewis references abound. We hope this episode blesses and inspires you to better reverence the Body of Christ through service and mission, even in a small way. TAKEAWAYS – Life. Lessons. Learned. explores learning from the wisdom of others. We were on site at the SOUTHERN NEVADA NAIOP June Program. The title was So Much Going On How To Keep Track - a Submarket Update SHAWN DANOSKI and I discuss our Takeaways from this program. The moderator was Donny Perach - Vice President, Valtus Capital Group The panelists included: • Gina Gavan - Chief Innovation Officer Director, Economic & Business Development City of North Las Vegas • Ken Chapa - Interim Director - Office of Economic Development & Tourism City of Henderson • Bill Arent - Director - Economic & Urban Development City of Las Vegas In 2008 Charles Prince was named by Fortune magazine as on of the economic leaders who didn't see the financial crisis coming. He was CEO of Citigroup, which at the time, was a major provider of financing for leveraged buyouts. He infamously told The Financial Times, "as long as the music is playing, you’ve got to get up and dance.” What a great quote to use to open this program. It not only sets the tone of all the activity in Southern Nevada today, but strikes the chords of irony, reminding us how deeply this community suffered just a few years ago. These days it appears that Southern Nevada is in full recovery. There is a pipeline of activity ranging from catalyst projects, new hotels, infrastructure renovations to master-planning new communities to be developed 7-10 years from now. This was a robust program where the panelists not only talked about how much is going on now, but what is next! What were some of our Takeaways? • What is driving all of the growth in each City? • How did each panelist answer when asked to share a "heard-it-at-NAIOP-first" announcement? • Where would each of the panelists invest $10 million in their respective Cities? I hope you enjoy! You can find Takeaways at any of the links below: • APPLE PODCAST • STITCHER • GOOGLE PODCAST • SOUNDCLOUD Thank you for listening! How To Run the Race of Faith

You've got to run this race of faith and you have to do it intentionally, with perseverance. You will not finish the race well if you don't run intentionally and do those things that enable you to stand. We have a very real enemy that wants to destroy you. How do you run the race of faith? The Bible tells us how. "By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days. By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented—of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us." Hebrews 11:30-40 How To Run the Race of Faith These men and women of faith were fighting the powers of darkness for the kingdom of God, just like you and me. It's a different generation but the same warfare. "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one." Ephesians 6:13-16 When Paul says "above all taking up the shield of faith", he wasn't talking about priority. He was talking about a position. Above all. He is literally saying, "lift up over all the shield of faith." In today's podcast I describe for you what battle looked like back when Paul wrote this letter to the Ephesians, and what he meant by taking up the shield and how it quenches the fiery darts of the enemy. For most people, the word “Lent” conjures up images of fasting from sweets, alcohol, or meat on Fridays, or maybe saying a few more prayers here and there between Sunday Masses.  Prayer and fasting are two of the practices we intentionally incorporate into our Lenten practice.  But what about that third practice, almsgiving?  How can we better incorporate acts of charity into the 40 days of Lent?    Our guest today chronicled one Lent in which she took almsgiving very seriously - although she wrote about it with a good deal of humor.  Kerry Weber, who is an Executive Editor at America Media, authored the 2014 book Mercy in the City: How to Feed the Hungry, Give Drink to the Thirsty, Visit the Imprisoned, and Keep Your Day Job.  Kerry is married with two children and, since 2012, has served as Mercy Associate.  She joins us today to talk about finding God through works of mercy.

In this new series of podcasts, we have been exploring our spiritual weapons of warfare. There is one weapon of spiritual warfare that is often overlooked. And yet, when we understand the power of this mighty weapon, the enemy forces do not stand a chance against us! The power of this mighty weapon will transform cities and countries; it will transform families; it will transform neighborhoods for Jesus Christ! The One Mighty Spiritual Weapon That is Often Overlooked "But one testified in a certain place, saying: 'What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him? You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands. You have put all things in subjection under his feet.' For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone." Hebrews 2:6-9 God has made us to be warriors in His kingdom The violent take it by force We don't easily extend the kingdom of God Luke 16:16 Do you want to see family and friends come to Jesus? Philippians 2:5-11 Jesus' name is exalted above every name There is coming a day when every single knee will bow that Jesus is Lord and there is none higher This is not just futuristic "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." John 14:13 "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." Mark 16:17-18 In My name! Click here to download this podcast God gave to us a mind, will, and emotions. And then He gave us a spirit that has a conscience, a God awareness; that has the same 5 senses as the body and that help us live in relationship with the spirit realms - both demonic and heavenly. Have you ever picked up a book, having never read it, but knowing something wasn't right about it? That is your spiritual senses at work; and God created us to discern evil, not learn evil. That is why God put the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the midst of the Garden. God never intended for the human race to know good and evil. He gave to us a triune being, just as He is a triune being, so that we would discern evil, not learn evil; because when you learn evil, it creates a curiosity that will draw you to it. "Vice is a monster of so frightful mien As to be hated needs but to be seen; Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face, We first endure, then pity, then embrace.” Alexander Pope 8 Transforming Truths About Your Authority in Christ "What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
