It's all fun and shimmy until those feet germs reach your jimmy, as the old saying goes. Here at Review Party, we put a lot of stock in old sayings, but if old timey nonsense doesn't make sense to you, let us lay it out: After every semester, cast your shower shoes into the fires of Mordor and go to Kohl's and get some fresh ones. This week we have reviews for those shower shoes, Ditka's bar and grill, sheets (for the guest room), X-men '97, the Hulk Gamecube controller. For the segment, we deep dive into the mystery (and some reviews) that is "mystery" flavored Air Heads. Put those slides on, it gets messy! Want more party? Is it possible - merely possible - that Ringo Starr's 1973 album, “Ringo” is the best solo Beatles album of that incredible year of classic solo Beatles albums? And while we're at it, does Ringo's 1978 entry “Bad Boy” still run circles - from a sheer rock & roll perspective - around the flaccid, weak-ass “Some Girls”? To be discussed on our final episode, stay tuned! Because, today's episode is dedicated to 50 years of the closest thing to a Beatles reunion album this side of the Threetles, and maybe even The Ladders. Tony and T.J., with a little help from our friends, Producer Casey and P3Z-Nutz, deep dish Side 1 of the greatest album (sorry, Liverpool 8) from the greatest drummer (sorry, Andy White) of the greatest band (sorry, Korn) of all time. And they also find (Morris Day and the) time to ask:
In the second hour, Dan Bernstein and Laurence Holmes were joined by WGN-TV sports anchor Jarrett Payton to discuss the Bears being in the playoff hunt after earning back-to-back wins against the Vikings and Lions, why coach Matt Eberflus deserves credit for Chicago's defensive resurgence, why he believes receiver DJ Moore is "special" and more. Bernstein then explained how he wants Eberflus to go "full Ditka" the next time that quarterback Justin Fields suffers a late hit. Throughout his three NFL seasons, Fields has made pleas to officials for greater protection from late hits, but those calls seem to have gone unanswered. Later, during the High Noon segment, Bernstein and Holmes listened and reacted to internet sensation Nandi Bushell rock a Twisted Sister classic on the drums.

Cheryl Raye Stout as been covering Chicago Sports on radio for over 40 years. She's a pioneer who battled her way through sexism to eventually be heralded as one of the most relentless and respected reporters in town. During the hey days of the Bears in the 80s, she was yelled at by the team for entering their locker room.“The practice was in Lake Forest and we were at the old Halas Hall which was a very small room. That's when you realize you're the only women in that room. I was with that little group as the locker room opened. I started to go in and all of a sudden the team surrounded me and started screaming at me and calling me names!”But then quarterback Jim Harbaugh eventually paved the way for her acceptance. Along the way she constantly had to prove herself during a time when women were forced to do so. But when she was foisted into the role of producing a radio talk show hosted by the popular and late Chet Coppock, Raye Stout became bold booking Dallas Green as the first guest. He was the General Manager of the Cubs and it was a big get for her, the host and her career. Raye Stout cemented her role as a top reporter breaking the news of Michael Jordan's decision to retire and play baseball for the White Sox and then his return to the Bulls. She continues to cover every team and sports event in town for WBEZ, the NPR station and has no desire to retire. There's a good reason for that….she's still on top of her game!"Tell Me A Story I Don't Know" is part of the Last Word on Sports Podcast feed of shows. We celebrate the opening of Oregon Dungeness Crab season with a visit with the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission's Executive Director, Tim Novotny. We will talk about what makes dungeness crab so beloved, what some of the challenges are for commercial crab fishermen, good years, bad years, some of Tim's favorite crab dishes and more. About Tim: Tim Novotny joined the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission in 2017 as communications manager, with a master's degree in public relations and more than two decades of experience in journalism and marketing. He has lived in Coos Bay since 1999 and became news director of KCBY-TV in2000, later writing for The World Newspaper in Coos Bay from 2012 through 2015, often reporting on the commercial fishing industry throughout his journalistic career. Prior to his arrival in Oregon, Tim worked as news director of KKVI-TV in Twin Falls, Idaho, and later was an assistant news producer at WMTV in Madison, Wisconsin. Born and raised in Joliet, Illinois, he later headed west and got his degree from Boise State University. In December, he became just the third executive director for the commission since 1990 - following Nick Furman (1990-2012), and the recently retired Hugh Link (2012-2022). He is also a long-suffering Chicago sports fan, happy to reminisce anytime about the glory days of Ditka, Payton, and Jordan. I'm joined by the legendary player and head coach Mike Ditka . Coach Ditka was the first tight end inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame In the 1960s and early '70s he proved himself one of professional football's most extraordinary tight ends, using his talent for catching passes to revolutionize his position. Coach Ditka had a successful coaching career, the highlight of which came in 1986 when he led the Chicago Bears on an epic season as one of the greatest teams ever assembled Cap with a Super Bowl victory recording a 15-1 season. Ditka attended the University of Pittsburg where he was named first-team All-American in 1960. Ditka earned a first-round draft selection by the Bears and earned Rookie of the Year honors in 1961. In each of his first five seasons in Chicago, he was chosen for the Pro Bowl, and he helped the Bears capture the 1963 NFL championship. Ditka also played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1969–72. He caught 30 passes during the 1971 season en route to helping the Cowboys win their first Super Bowl title the following January. He retired after the 1972 season. Over the course of his playing career, Ditka made 427 receptions, gained 5,812 yards, and scored 43 touchdowns. These were phenomenal totals for a tight end, which had been viewed primarily as a blocking position during his era. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rationalhour/support

Host Andrea Kremer takes us back to 1995 when NFL Films Steve Sabol interviewed QB Jim McMahon. The Super Bowl Champion looked back on the 1985 season and his relationship with Head Coach Mike Ditka. Jim recalls his contentious relationship with Ditka, who called the plays but often saw them changed at the line by McMahon. Steve asks about the sole loss that season, as Chicago had started the season 12-0 before losing to the Dolphins. Jim looks at his experiences during Super Week which included being wrongly quoted, mooning a helicopter, the Super Bowl Shuffle, the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and his infamous headband. Steve wraps up with the amazing talent surrounding Jim on those Chicago teams and how the players off the field personalities were so different than their gridiron personas.
