After doing so, He sat at the right hand of the majesty in heaven. This chapter explains that Jesus is superior to angels, receiving a greater name and position. God never addressed an angel as His Son, nor told any angel to sit at His right hand. Angels are servants of God and His people, while the Son reigns in glory over all. This establishes the divine authority and eternal kingship of Jesus Christ. Our Savior is not just a messenger or a prophet; He is the very Son of God, the exact imprint of the Father's nature. As we go through life, we find strength in knowing that the One who upholds the universe by His word is also holding us. God calls us to live purely and never to conceal sin. Loving Lord, we thank You for placing us in a community where we can grow, serve, and be loved. Teach us to honor one another with kindness, to care for those in need, and to treat each person with dignity. Help us to see our brothers and sisters through Your eyes. Show us how to serve without expecting praise and to lead with humility. Help us receive Your Word with full conviction and joy, even in difficult times. May we become true imitators of Christ, shining as examples of Your grace to everyone around us. Turn our hearts away from anything that leads us away from You, and teach us to serve You with passion and sincerity. Strengthen us to remain faithful as we wait for Jesus, our Deliverer. Paul also encourages believers to be wise in how they interact with outsiders, making the most of every opportunity and speaking with grace, even when in a position of authority like a master over a slave. He then lists several companions who are assisting him, including Tychicus, Onesimus, and others, and sends greetings to various churches and individuals. Paul reminds the Colossians to fulfill the ministries God has given them. He closes the letter with a personal touch, asking them to remember his chains and offering grace to all.  Christians are called to be a people of prayer, persistence, and gratitude. We should continually seek God's guidance, praying not only for our needs but also for open doors to share the gospel with others. When tensions rise at home, work, or with friends, we must remember to let Christ's peace guide our responses. Love must be the foundation of everything we do, being featured in our family. In every situation, whether speaking, working, or serving, we are called to do it all in Jesus' name with thankfulness. True transformation is about growing into the image of Christ—reflecting His character and honoring Him in every relationship, every decision, and every moment.   Loving Father, thank You for raising us to new life in Christ. Help us to set our hearts on things above and to let go of anything that pulls us away from You. Clothe us with character traits that emulate Christ. Empower us to forgive as You have forgiven us, and let Your peace rule in our hearts. May love guide all we do, and may the message of Christ dwell richly within us, especially in our marriage and homes. Paul reminds the church that all the fullness of God dwells in Christ, and they have been made complete through Him. He emphasizes that believers were once dead in sin but have been made alive with Christ, who forgave all sins and canceled the record of debt by nailing it to the cross. Paul warns against being judged by rules about food, festivals, or Sabbath days, as these are only shadows of the reality found in Jesus. He encourages the church not to let anyone disqualify them through false humility or worship of angels but to hold fast to Christ, the Head, from whom the whole body grows through God's power. Christ Himself contains all the treasures of wisdom and power, and we must walk in a relationship with Him. We must not be misled by arguments or traditions that sound wise but are not rooted in the truth of Jesus. Christ is the fullness of God, and because we belong to Him, we already have everything we need. We were once spiritually dead, but through His death and resurrection, we have been made alive and fully forgiven. The record of our sins has been erased, nailed to the cross. We must not follow man's rules or rituals to earn God's favor. Instead, we hold tightly to Christ, who gives us life and helps us grow as one body united in Him.  Glorious Lord, Your Son is sufficient. He is strong enough, wise enough, and glorious enough to save and protect us eternally. Help us to faithfully walk with Him and serve Him daily with overflowing gratitude. Father, protect us from the deceptions of the world: human reasoning, traditions of men, and those who seek to be our rulers and judges. We will celebrate our freedom in Christ, having been raised up with Him through baptism, and now walking as forgiven, redeemed followers of our King. Guide us to make decisions based on the Head, not on anything or anyone else.   Thought Questions: How do you stay connected to “Christ Himself” and avoid being affected by “persuasive arguments” that twist the word of God? What did Jesus do for you when you were “buried with Him in baptism”? The chapter highlights Christ as the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, and the head of the church. Through Him, all things were created and reconciled by His blood on the cross. Paul reminds them of their former alienation but celebrates their reconciliation through Jesus. He explains his role as a servant of the gospel, laboring to present everyone mature in the Lord, whose mystery has now been revealed: Christ in you, the hope of glory. As recipients of God's grace, we proclaim the greatness of Jesus and our calling to live in a way that honors Him. Because of this, we live with gratitude and purpose. We do not walk aimlessly, but walk worthy of the Lord, bearing fruit in every good work. His power strengthens us, and we endure with patience and joy. We were once alienated, but now we are reconciled through Christ's sacrifice. We press on in faith, grounded and firm in the hope of the gospel, trusting in Christ's supremacy and love. Benevolent God, thank You for the hope of heaven made available to us through our Savior, Jesus Christ. Help us to increase in our faithfulness to You and our love for others as a demonstration of our gratitude. Challenge us to grow in knowledge concerning Your glory and the power of Jesus Christ in our lives. He is the means through which You rescued us, our Creator and Redeemer. As we practice contentment and trust in God's provision, we learn that our strength comes not from ourselves, but from Christ within us. We are reminded to live generously, support one another, and rest in the promise that God will supply all we need according to His riches.  Loving Father, thank You for being our source of peace and strength. When we feel anxious or overwhelmed, remind us to come to You in prayer with thankful hearts. Fill us with the peace that surpasses all understanding and guard our minds from fear. Help us to fix our thoughts on what is true, pure, and worthy of praise. Teach us to be content in every circumstance, knowing that Christ strengthens us beyond measure. May we live generously and trust that You will provide all we need. Their true citizenship is in heaven, and they should live as those eagerly waiting for Christ, who will transform their bodies into His likeness by His great power.   Our value does not come from our achievements, status, or past actions, but from knowing Christ. Like Paul, we must let go of anything we once considered gain and see it as loss compared to the joy of walking with Jesus. We are called to stop striving for righteousness purely through our efforts and instead flourish in the righteousness that comes by faith. As we grow, we should not dwell on the past, whether failures or successes, but press forward purposefully. Our eyes should be set on the eternal prize, not on temporary things. We are citizens of heaven, and our lives should reflect that identity. We must pursue Christ with humility and a heart eager for His return.  Glorious Lord, help us understand that our salvation is found in You, not in our accomplishments or perfection. Lead us to surrender to Christ, live faithfully to Him, and glorify Him as our source of righteousness. Please give us the strength to let go of any part of our past that did not prioritize Jesus. Guide us to look ahead to a life that pursues the calling voice of our Savior, following the examples of faithful men and women throughout the ages. Fill our hearts with a yearning for heaven and great anticipation for new and eternal spiritual bodies.   Thought Questions: Regarding religious accomplishments, what are some things you may put confidence in instead of Christ? As we live out our faith, we are called to shine in a dark world through our attitudes, words, and love. Let us strive to serve faithfully, encourage one another, and support those who devote their lives to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Gracious God, thank You for the example of Christ's humility and love. Help us to follow His example by putting others before ourselves and serving with joyful hearts, especially among Your people. Shape our attitudes to reflect Christ's mindset: free from pride and full of mercy. Work in us to will and to act according to Your good purpose. May we shine like lights in this world, living with integrity, compassion, and unity. Give us strength to obey even when it's hard and help us to do everything without grumbling or disputing. Together, we press forward, trusting that God will finish what He started in us for His glory. Kind Father, thank You for beginning a good work in us and for the promise that You will complete it. Help us live lives that reflect Christ in every situation, whether in comfort or in struggle. Teach us to see challenges as opportunities to glorify You and encourage others in their faith. Fill us with boldness to stand firm in unity, striving together for the faith of the gospel, with a shared joy that our circumstances cannot shake. Today was a trip down memory lane for me. I listened to the very first episode of Excel Still More: Just Get Better. That episode drew a little bit of criticism in the early days for sounding like another way of packaging work based salvation. I filed that away as something to consider but I just wasn't in a place in my life to see it.I've learned a lot since then. I trust you have as well. So I was ready to go back and listen and be woefully embarrassed. It turns out... it wasn't too bad. And I stand behind the content. But it did omit some needful elements of God's grace driving us and protecting us. And a clearer message that perfect so as to be blessed by God is not the goal, because by our own power, such a thing is unattainable. I'd address some of that in the episode today. But also, I want us all to see that our imperfections are always before us. Sometimes we get things right. But often times we may do the right thing with the wrong motives. Other times our motives are pure and we miss the mark on actions. All of us need to grow and change and learn. But, only closeness to God can help. Only His power, His grace, His Spirit, and His wisdom given to us can make us good. Let's grow closer to God. A cool byproduct is that people who thing they will never come together may find each other at His feet. - Why is "Excel Still More" a better idea to carry than simply "Just Get Better"?- How is the pursuit of better sometimes a path to pride and further from God?- Why is pursuing closeness to God the only way to be saved and grow in faith?- Why is both "right wrong" and "wrong right" often a part of our path?- How can we have confidence if "right right" is so hard to attain and keep?

Gordon Elder DCCJP At the time of the recording (September 2022), Dr. Elder ha just finished a three-year program that, because of COVID, ended up being a four-year program. It was a 300-hour program for a post-doctorate degree in health for the brainstem, the craniocervical junction. The title is Diplomate. It's a DCCJP, Diplomate in Chiropractic Craniocervical Junction Procedures.The course was divided up into 12-hour weekends that were held in several different cities. They ran all day Saturday and half the day on Sunday, usually once a month for nine months of the year. It's a post-doctorate degree. A chiropractor can't call themself a specialist in anything unless they have a Diplomate in an approved program. The beginning was a basic deep-dive, then it moved on to remind you what you had learned in school and more. Then on to the limits of research and current research.The brainstem is the first thing that starts working at conception, that's the first part that's formed and it's the last part that stops working when you die. It's based at the base of the skull and the top of the neck. You cannot be alive if your brainstem is not functional.Dr. Elder likes to work together with other specialists to resolve complicated cases, as opposed to just hoping that what he does eventually works. He says this about the DCCJP community, “ What I've noticed here is when you get people who are super dedicated to advancing, you realize how much you know and how much you don't know. How much somebody else may be-- what knowledge they may have. You don't have the time, background, or expertise to become experts in every field. You're happy to refer out and work together with other specialists and true specialists, not just somebody else who knows a little something. Really work together with other specialists to resolve the complicated cases instead of just hoping that what you do eventually works.”Excel Still More. Dr. Elder plans to continue learning and doing some research now that he has time. Welcome to Season 2! Last year we collected 82 episodes designed to help you grow in faith, deepen relationships and get the most out of the life God has given you. Now, we head into this New Year ready to use all of that experience to reach new heights! Firstly, you have to decide who you want to become. What does a better you look like? We will discuss the myth of “priorities.” Thinking we can balance commitments to money and the Lord is wrongheaded, and doomed to tip to the wrong side.We will discuss Barbarians at the Gate, a book that details the buyout of RJR Nabisco. When making money is the only objective, there’s no limit to how insane the behavior can get.We will discuss professional athletes and their contracts. Measuring men by their wallets is par for the course in sports. That’s not the kind of role model we need these days.We will discuss London, a board game in which you are forced to balance a growing economy with the real problems that it creates. Turns out, more prosperity is not necessarily better.

Is anybody else sporting a terrible memory? Oh man, I'm probably the worst I've ever met, but I can't remember. Seriously, forgetting names, ideas, points, tasks, the names of my children... it's a big deal. But, the work still needs to be done, you know? Names still need to be recalled. Duties still need to be carried out. The Lord's work still needs to be done. Enter a life hack: Write it down! No matter a digital or paper tool, create an environment for success by documenting things you will need later. If you can learn the same strategy and apply it in your daily tasks and goals, you too can see incredible differences in your achievements. We often work from the outside in: WHAT do I want to happen? Then we decide: HOW can I make that happen? But we rarely spend time considering the most important question of all: WHY is any of this important to me? When if we Start with Why, we can let action grow out of passion. And that produces the most astounding and consistent results!
