In the past, God spoke through prophets, but now He has spoken through His Son, the heir of all things and the creator of the universe. Jesus reflects the glory of God and represents His exact nature. He sustains all things by His power and has made purification for sins. After doing so, He sat at the right hand of the majesty in heaven. This chapter explains that Jesus is superior to angels, receiving a greater name and position. God never addressed an angel as His Son, nor told any angel to sit at His right hand. Angels are servants of God and His people, while the Son reigns in glory over all. This establishes the divine authority and eternal kingship of Jesus Christ. Our Savior is not just a messenger or a prophet; He is the very Son of God, the exact imprint of the Father's nature. As we go through life, we find strength in knowing that the One who upholds the universe by His word is also holding us. When we feel uncertain, we remember that Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, reigning with power and love. We are not following empty tradition; we are following the risen and exalted Son. Let us listen closely to Him, trust in His authority, and live with the confidence that He is greater than any challenge and helps us through His power and the angels sent to minister to us. Almighty Lord, we come before You in awe of who Jesus is. He is more than a teacher and prophet; He is Your Son, radiant with Your glory and speaking with divine authority. Thank You for sending Him to cleanse us from sin and to sit at Your right hand in power as our protector and king. We feel humbled knowing He holds everything together yet still cares for each of us. Help us to see Him clearly, to listen when He speaks, and to walk in the confidence that He is above all. May our lives exhibit trust in Him. Thought Questions: What does it mean to say that God “has spoken to us in His Son”? What qualities of Jesus make Him worthy to be heard, trusted, and obeyed? Why does Hebrews 1 cite so many Old Testament passages? How does this show that God's plan for His Son was intended for centuries? Angels are “ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation.” What does that mean in your life?

Paul appeals to Philemon not as an apostle demanding obedience, but as a brother in Christ urging love. He asks Philemon to receive Onesimus back not merely as a slave, but as a beloved brother. Paul offers to repay any debt Onesimus owes, reminding Philemon of the spiritual debt he owes Paul. The letter models Christian forgiveness, reconciliation, and the transforming power of the gospel in relationships. Paul expresses confidence that Philemon will do even more than he asks, showing trust in his character and receiving encouragement from his actions. The letter ends with greetings from fellow believers and a blessing of grace to Philemon. Philemon challenges us to see people through the lens of the gospel. We are not defined by our past roles, failures, or status. In Christ, we are family. We must forgive as we have been forgiven. Reconciliation is not always easy, but it reflects the heart of God. We are reminded that love must lead our decisions, even when justice feels complicated. Paul models how to be a helpful advocate between others. We are invited to do the same: to stand in the gap for others, to restore relationships, and to live out the unity we claim to believe. This short letter challenges us that the gospel changes how we see others and how we respond in moments of conflict. Forgiving Father, we thank You for the astounding grace that restores and the abiding love that reconciles. Teach us to see others not by their past, but by their place in Your family. Please help us to forgive as we have been forgiven. When conflict arises, help us develop the humility to seek peace and the courage to extend grace. Show us how to love beyond obligation, and to act with compassion even when it is difficult. Let the gospel shape our relationships and heal what is broken. May our words and actions reflect the mercy You have shown us. Thought Questions: Are there any relationships in your life where God calls you to pursue reconciliation rather than remain divided? How should you proceed? Why is a mediator sometimes valuable in relationship rebuilding? Who could be useful in helping you mend a strained relationship in your life? How must the gospel and God's grace shape how you see others, especially those who are fellow followers of Jesus Christ?

Paul encourages gentleness, peace, and humility toward all people. Paul then reminds Titus of their past, how they were once foolish and disobedient, but emphasizes the kindness and mercy of God, who saved them not by works but through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. Justified by grace, believers are called to devote themselves to doing what is good. Paul warns against foolish controversies and divisive individuals who reject correction. These people are to be rejected. The letter closes with personal instructions and a call for believers to be productive and to meet urgent needs, ensuring that their lives reflect the fruit of grace. We were once lost, ruled by pride, anger, and selfish desires. We remember this not to shame ourselves, but to remain humble. God saved us through His astounding mercy. He washed us clean. He gave us new life through the Holy Spirit. We did nothing to earn it. We now live differently. We speak with kindness, choosing peace over arguments and divisive impulses. We pursue what is good, caring for others with urgency. We meet needs without delay, showing the world what grace has done in us. We remain devoted to good works, reflecting the goodness of God not only in belief but in action. We live purposefully, expecting others to be loving unifiers, because we have all been changed. Ever-present God, thank You for saving us, not because of what we have done, but because of who You are. Your kindness changed everything. You washed us clean. You gave us new life through the Holy Spirit. Help us to live in a way that honors that mercy. Teach us to speak with grace, to act with compassion, and to pursue what is good. Keep us from arguments that divide and distractions that weaken our identity in Jesus Christ. Let our lives reflect the beauty of Your grace and Your powerful renewal. May good works flow from hearts transformed by You. Thought Questions: How does your attitude toward the governing authorities and powerful entities show others the value of Jesus and His kingdom in your life? Has the Holy Spirit renewed you, and has He been poured upon you richly through Jesus Christ? How will your life show this beautiful truth? Do Christians sometimes dispute and divide in ways that displease Jesus? How do you handle disagreements to ensure unity and love endure?

Older men are to be temperate, worthy of respect, and self-controlled. Older women are to live reverently and train younger women to love their families and live pure, kind, and submissive lives. Young men are urged to be self-controlled, and Titus himself is called to be an example in integrity, seriousness, and sound speech. Slaves are instructed to be trustworthy and respectful, so that the teaching about God will be attractive to others. Paul reminds all believers that the grace of God has appeared with a tremendous promise of redemption and salvation, teaching disciples to say no to ungodliness and to live upright lives as we await Christ's return. Christians are reminded that sound teaching is not only about knowledge but also about how we live each day and reflect Jesus in relationships. We are part of a community where each generation matters, and we are responsible for guiding, encouraging, and modeling godliness for one another. Our conduct should reflect the grace we have received, showing the world a different way: one marked by self-control, love, and integrity. We do not live for ourselves alone; our words and actions shape how others see Christ. God's grace saves and purifies us, but also trains us in good works. As we wait for Christ's return, we must live purposefully, rejecting what is empty and clinging to what is good and eternal. Merciful Lord, we thank You for the grace that not only saves us but also teaches us how to live faithfully. Shape our hearts to value what is true and to walk in a way that honors You. Help us to be examples of love, purity, and self-control in every season of life. Let us guide one another with wisdom and humility, building a community that protects and edifies. Teach us to say no to what is empty and yes to what is holy. As we wait for Christ's return, may our lives be marked by gratitude and zeal. Thought Questions: What are the “things which are fitting for sound doctrine” in this chapter? How is it focused on relationships and the treatment of others? Why is it important for younger and older Christians to spend time together? Is this intergenerational relationship-building important to you? How has the grace of God changed your life? What has God done for you, and what expectations does He have for your life in Christ?

He writes to Titus, his true son in the faith, and reminds him of his responsibility to appoint elders in every church. Paul outlines the qualifications for elders, emphasizing that they must be blameless, faithful to their families, self-controlled, upright, and devoted to sound doctrine. These leaders must be able to encourage with the truth and refute those who oppose it. Paul warns about rebellious people with defiled consciences, especially those spreading false teachings for dishonest gain. He instructs Titus to rebuke them sharply so that their faith may be sound and not corrupted by human commands. Leadership in the Lord's church is not about status or personality but character and conviction. We are all influenced by those who teach and lead, so we must be careful to follow those whose lives reflect the truth they speak. Elders are our spiritual examples and protectors. As members of the body of Christ, we also carry responsibility. We must live with integrity, speak with honesty, and be grounded in sound doctrine. We cannot ignore false teaching; we must respond with clarity, conviction, and grace. Whether we lead formally or simply by example, our lives should point others toward truth. We are called to uphold the gospel with both courage and humility, guarding the faith that has been entrusted to us. All-powerful Father, we thank You for the truth of the gospel and the calling to live lives that honor it. Help us to be people of integrity, consistent in our words and actions. Strengthen us to recognize what is false and to stand firm in what is sound. Guide those who lead among us to serve with humility, wisdom, and faithfulness. Teach us to reflect Christ in our homes, our communities, and our churches. May our character speak as clearly as our confession. Let us guard what is good, live without compromise, and be faithful stewards of the truth You have given. Thought Questions: Is it God's design for all local churches to have elders? What role can you play in helping a local church cultivate a strong eldership? How would you describe the character and abilities of an elder? How many of these qualities should you also be pursuing diligently? Describe the type of men who must be silenced in this chapter. How is their unsoundness about more than just getting scripture wrong?

He warns that a time will come when people will reject sound teaching and seek teachings that suit their desires. Timothy is called to remain steady, endure hardship, and fulfill his ministry fully. Paul reflects on his own life, stating he has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. He looks forward to the crown of righteousness that the Lord will award to all who long for His appearing. Paul closes with personal remarks, requesting companionship, providing updates on other believers, and affirming that the Lord stood by him, even when no one else did. He ends with confidence in God's faithfulness and eternal glory. We are reminded that our calling is not shaped by comfort or applause, but by faithfulness to God's truth. We may be tempted to adjust our teaching to fit the desires of others, but we are called to speak what is true, whether or not it is popular. This chapter challenges us to stay steady, to carry out our responsibilities with diligence, and to endure difficulty without losing heart. Paul's example encourages us to finish well, fully trusting in the triumphant return and reward of Jesus Christ. More than just believing, we are to remain committed through every season. When others drift, we must stay anchored. When we feel alone, we must remember that the Lord stands with us. Benevolent God, help us to remain faithful in a world that often turns away from truth. When we feel tired or discouraged, give us the strength to continue. Teach us to speak with clarity, to love with courage, and to endure with hope. Let us not measure success by applause, but by allegiance to You. Remind us that You are near, even when others leave. You are the one who equips, who defends, and who rewards. May we finish our race with joy, with our hearts set on Your return. Keep our eyes on the crown that does not fade. Thought Questions: What helps you boldly share truth even when it's “out of season”? Why is it sometimes difficult to stay patient and gentle in such environments? What kept Paul faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ no matter what he faced? How do you use these truths and promises to help you daily? How has the Lord stood with you in times of need, even when others did not? Do you believe God will rescue you and bring you safely home?

People will become lovers of self, money, and pleasure rather than lovers of God. They will appear religious but will deny the true power of godliness. Sadly, they will progress from bad to worse. Paul urges Timothy to avoid such individuals, especially those who deceive others while resisting the truth. He reminds Timothy that persecution is a reality for all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus. However, Timothy is encouraged to remain steadfast in what he has learned, holding firmly to the Scriptures that have shaped his faith since childhood. Paul affirms that all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness, equipping believers for every good work. We live in a world that often values self above truth. Some hold to a form of godliness but are led by the adversary. We must remain alert to the attitudes and behaviors Paul warns against, guarding our hearts from pride, greed, and spiritual compromise. We are called to sincerely pursue godliness, even when it leads to hardship or opposition. The foundation for this life is the Word of God. Scripture is not just information; it is the voice of God shaping our minds and transforming our actions. We must hold tightly to what we have learned, remain rooted in truth, and let the Word train us to live with purpose, integrity, and a deep commitment to the way of Christ. Holy Lord, in a world filled with confusion and pride, help us to stand firm in truth. Guard our hearts from the temptation to follow what is popular instead of what is right. Fill us with a deep love for Your Word, and give us wisdom to recognize what is false. Strengthen our faith when we face difficulty, and remind us that godliness is worth every cost. Help us learn to let Scripture shape our thoughts, guide our choices, and prepare us for every good work You have planned. May we reflect Christ in how we live, speak, and serve. Thought Questions: How can people claim godliness but also be selfish and destructive? How do you avoid such a dangerous and tragic departure from Jesus? Is it true that “all who desire to live godly in Jesus Christ will be persecuted”? What persecution or sacrifice are you facing for your faith? How has the Scripture recently impacted your life? He uses illustrations of a soldier, an athlete, and a farmer to highlight discipline, endurance, and hard work in ministry. Just as he does, Paul reminds Timothy to endure hardship for the gospel's sake. He emphasizes the importance of avoiding quarrels and ungodly talk, which only lead to more harm. Instead, he should study and learn the word of God. Timothy is instructed to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, and to correct opponents with gentleness, in hopes that God may lead them to repentance. The chapter focuses on endurance, faithful teaching, and a life that reflects the saving mission of Jesus Christ. The Christian life is filled with the grace of God; therefore, it must be marked by endurance, discipline, and devotion. We are called to share the truth with care, investing in others who will remain faithful to the message of Christ and share the word themselves. Like soldiers, athletes, and farmers, we must be willing to work diligently and stay focused on what truly matters. We must avoid arguments that distract from Christ and His eternal glory, and instead pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. God calls us to correct others, not with pride, but with gentleness, trusting Him to bring about change. Let us honor God by being examples and sharers of the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father, You have called us to a life that is steady, pure, and useful in Your hands. We call upon You to shape our hearts so we do not chase distractions or arguments but remain focused on truth. Build in us the quiet strength of a soldier, the discipline of an athlete, and the patience of a farmer. Let us not grow weary in teaching or in waiting. Help us to carry Your name with humility and to treat others with gentleness. Cleanse us from what is dishonorable and make us ready for every good work You have prepared. Thought Questions: What does it mean to “be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus”? How does it relate to the imagery of a soldier, athlete, and farmer? Why do Christians often argue in ways that only divide us? Why should we be more focused on living like Jesus and refusing to deny His glory? Why is it vital to live a righteous life and be patient with people, even those who wrong you? Is it your mission to help God reach those people?

Paul encourages Timothy to rekindle the spiritual gift God gave him and reminds him that the Spirit of God does not make believers timid but gives them power, love, and self-discipline. He urges Timothy not to be ashamed of the gospel or of Paul's suffering but to join in enduring hardship for the sake of Christ. Paul reminds him that God saved them by grace and called them to a holy life and to guard the standard of truth God has revealed. Paul expresses full confidence in Christ despite imprisonment, urging Timothy to guard the truth through the Holy Spirit who lives in them. This emotional letter from Paul to Timothy reminds us that our faith must be active and cultivated with intentional care. We have been entrusted with a sacred message, one that has the power to transform lives. We are not called to live in fear or hesitation, but in the strength, love, and discipline that God provides in His holy word. Our calling is not earned, but given by grace, and it must be exclaimed as we share the triumphant victory of Jesus Christ. We must be willing to endure hardship for the gospel's sake, standing firm in truth regardless of opposition. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are equipped to remain faithful and to protect what God has placed within us, the treasure and pattern of truth. Loving God, we come before You with gratitude for the faith You are developing within us. Teach us how to strengthen what is weak and stir anew the gifts You have entrusted to our care. Help us to walk not in fear, but in the power, love, and self-discipline that come from Your Spirit. Teach us to stand unashamed of the gospel and to endure hardship with grace. May we guard the truth faithfully, not in our strength but through the Holy Spirit who lives within us. May our lives reflect the calling and purpose You have set before us. Thought Questions: Paul had a special relationship with Timothy that uplifted him. Who, in your life, is your spiritual family and a great encouragement to you? What are some gifts God has given you for His service that could use some refreshing? How might it be time to become unashamed and bold? How has the gospel of the Lord Jesus changed your life? He urges that slaves show respect to their masters so that God's name and teaching will not be discredited. Paul warns against those who teach false doctrines and are motivated by pride and greed. He reminds Timothy that godliness with contentment is great gain, and that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Paul charges Timothy to flee from these worldly desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. He is called to fight the good fight of faith and hold tightly to eternal life, for the Sovereign King is coming in glory! Paul closes by warning the wealthy to be humble, generous, and focused on eternal treasure rather than earthly riches. We are reminded that real gain is not found in possessions or status, but in godliness and contentment. We live in a world that constantly pushes us to want more, yet God calls us to be satisfied in Him. We must be careful not to let money or pride guide our choices. Instead, we should pursue what lasts: righteousness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. We are in a spiritual fight, and we must hold tightly to what is true. If we have been given much, we are called to be generous and humble. Our hope must rest not in what we can earn or own, but in a life awaiting the Lord Jesus Christ, who will rule for all eternity. Kind Father, we come to You with hearts that want to be content in You alone. Teach us to let go of our need for more and to rest in the riches of Your grace. Help us to flee from selfish desires and chase after qualities that imitate the holiness of Your Son. Strengthen us to fight the good fight and hold tightly to the eternal life You have promised. Remind us that everything we have comes from You. Make us generous, humble, and focused on what truly matters. May our hope be anchored in You, and in nothing else. Thought Questions: How far will you go to honor God's name and doctrine? Why must you accept the challenge to treat people well, no matter who they are? Why is the love of money the root of all sorts of evil? How do you protect your heart and life against discontentment, selfishness, and greed? He urges him to treat older men as fathers, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity. Paul also provides detailed advice on the conduct of widows and their care, emphasizing that family members should support their own before the church intervenes. Only widows who are genuinely in need and demonstrate godly character should receive support from the church. Paul follows by addressing elders, stating that those who lead well are deserving of honor, particularly those who preach and teach. He cautions against favoritism, encourages carefulness in correcting leaders, and calls for personal purity. The brethren are encouraged to flee sin, as sin will inevitably be exposed. We are called to care for one another with deep respect and compassion. Our relationships in the church should reflect the love of a family. We must treat others with honor, seeing their value through God's eyes. When needs arise, we must fulfill our God given responsibilities. We are part of a body that cares, serves, and protects. Godliness is expected of everyone, from the young to the widows. We also learn the importance of honoring those who lead well and holding each other accountable with grace and wisdom. Leadership and community are not casual responsibilities. We must walk with integrity and seek to do what is right. God calls us to live purely and never to conceal sin. Loving Lord, we thank You for placing us in a community where we can grow, serve, and be loved. Teach us to honor one another with kindness, to care for those in need, and to treat each person with dignity. Help us to see our brothers and sisters through Your eyes. Show us how to serve without expecting praise and to lead with humility. Give us the strength to correct with graceful wisdom and be patient with our approach, knowing You see all and know every heart. May we be faithful and free from sin and its consequences. Thought Questions: Why is it important for younger Christians to show honor and respect for older members of Christ's body, specifically widows and elders? Several categories of widows are noted in this text. How many can you identify? Why are younger widows often encouraged to remarry? Why must believers honor local elders, and how must accusations against elders be handled? Why is this careful process important?

Paul urges Timothy to be aware of this and to remain grounded in the truth of God as a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. Paul emphasizes that while physical training has some value, godliness holds value for all things, both in this life and the next. He encourages Timothy to set an example in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, despite his youth. Paul instructs him not to neglect the spiritual gift given to him, but to devote himself fully to the work of ministry. By doing so, he will grow in maturity and help lead others to salvation. The chapter calls all believers to stay alert, pursue godliness, and stay faithful to sound teaching. We live in a time when truth is often distorted, so we must stay anchored in what God has spoken. Paul reminds us that growing in godliness is not automatic; it requires discipline, intention, and a heart that seeks to honor God. We may feel overlooked because of our age or inexperience, but God calls us to be examples right where we are. Our words, our habits, and our love should all reflect Jesus. We each have gifts, and we must not ignore them. When we commit to spiritual growth, others are strengthened by our faithfulness. Let us take this charge seriously and live in a way that draws others toward truth, leading them to the salvation of their souls. Present God, we hear Your call to grow in godliness. Please help us avoid the distractions of teachings that are not from You. We ask for focus when we feel distracted, and for strength when we feel tired or unseen. Help us to take our faith seriously, not just in public, but always. Teach us to lead with our lives, not just our words. We want to be examples of love, purity, and faith. Remind us that our age or position does not limit what You can do through us. We are Yours. Use us to share Your message of salvation. Thought Questions: What are the deceitful doctrines noted in this chapter? How do you protect yourself from such restrictions and live in the liberty of Christ? How do you “discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness”? Why is it important to fix your hope on Jesus as you do so? What did Paul tell Timothy to focus on to keep others from looking down on him? Which of those are you working on in your life presently?

He emphasizes that leaders must be people of integrity, self-control, and spiritual maturity. An overseer must be above reproach, faithful to one spouse, gentle, hospitable, and able to teach. He must manage his household well and not be a recent convert. Deacons also must be dignified, trustworthy, and committed to sound faith and behavior. Their wives must also demonstrate respect, self-control, and faithfulness. Paul explains that leadership in the church is a serious responsibility, a position focused on service to others, not power over them. He reminds Timothy that the church is the household of God, and it must uphold the truth and reflect the mystery of godliness revealed in the whole story of Christ. Leadership among God's people is not about status but about character. We are reminded that what we do in private shapes who we are in public, and that public leadership roles are worth aspiring to. Whether or not we serve in official roles, we all represent Christ through the way we live. We must seriously consider how we speak, lead our families, and respond to challenges. God is calling us to grow in integrity and to be faithful stewards of the influence we have. As part of His household, we help carry the truth about Jesus Christ to others. Let us commit to lives that are rooted in love, guided by humility, and centered on the example of Jesus. Glorious Father, You call leaders to be examples, not just in words, but in how they live each day. Form in us the character that reflects Your heart: steadfast, humble, gentle, and full of truth. Help us lead our families, churches, and communities with wisdom and integrity. Remind us that leadership is not about control, but about service. Give us courage to correct, strength to stand firm, and grace to lead with love. Whatever role we play in local churches, may our lives be trustworthy, and our actions speak of Your goodness. May we be pillars and supports of the truth. Thought Questions: Why should Christian men aspire to serve as elders in local churches? Describe the type of men God approves to serve as overseers. From elders to deacons to wives, what are common character traits among servants in local churches? Which of those needs your attention? How is the church “the pillar and support of the truth”? How do you contribute to that, and why must Jesus be at the center of it all?

Paul affirms that there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity: the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all. Paul was appointed a teacher of this message, and disciples must also feature the goodness of God through Christ. He instructs men to pray with pure hearts and without anger or quarreling. He also guides women to dress modestly and not to pursue authority roles in the work of Christ, which is God's decision dating back to the Garden of Eden. We often rush through life without pausing to pray, but this chapter urges us to be intentional. We are not merely individuals trying to survive; we are a community called to bring peace into a chaotic world through prayer and godly living. When we pray for others, even those with whom we may disagree, we participate in God's greater desire to see all lives transformed. We also recognize that how we present ourselves matters. We reflect God's design and authority in the world through our attitude, speech, and appearance. We are not here to draw attention to ourselves but to honor the one true mediator, Jesus. Men and women best share Him by honoring His design in their respective roles. Worthy Lord, we come to You with humble hearts. Teach us to pray beyond ourselves: to intercede for leaders, neighbors, and even those who oppose us. Help us to value peace over pride and to walk in a way that honors You. Remind us that Jesus is the one true mediator; through Him, we find mercy and purpose. Shape our hearts to desire what You desire. Help men of faith to be open and courageous in professing the name of Jesus. And guide godly women to demonstrate the goodness of God through modesty and submission. Use us all for your cause. Thought Questions: How often do you pray for the leaders of our nation? What should be included in those prayers for them and their souls, as well as all citizens? Does God want men in every place to lift up their hands in prayer, without wrath and dissension? What does that look like for men in everyday life? Why is a woman not allowed to teach or exercise authority over a man? Does this diminish her value? How can she best serve the will of God?

Paul explains that the law is good when used properly: to expose sin, not as a means of salvation. He shares his own story, humbly recalling how he was once a blasphemer and persecutor, yet received mercy through the overflowing grace of Christ. Paul declares that Jesus came to save sinners, calling himself the worst of them to highlight God's incredible patience. He encourages Timothy to hold on to faith and a good conscience, unlike others who have shipwrecked their faith. Paul concludes with a charge to Timothy to stay strong in the battle for the enduring truth of the gospel. As believers in Christ, we are reminded that the administration of God is built on truth, faith, and love. We must remain alert to false teachings that distract from the gospel; instead, we must focus on what builds genuine faith. Like Paul, we each have a past, but God's mercy is greater than our mistakes. We are not beyond His reach. The more we understand His grace, the more thankful and grounded we become. We are part of His plan to share this grace with others, uniting the truth of God with love that flows from a pure heart. Many have fallen from faith, but we must maintain a clear conscience and fight the good fight in Jesus' name. Merciful God, thank You for entrusting us with the truth of the gospel. We praise You for Your incredible patience and grace that reaches even the worst of sinners. Shape our hearts with humility and gratitude, just as You shaped Paul's heart. Keep us alert to anything that twists or distracts from Your Word. Fill us with boldness to stand for truth and tenderness to lead with love. Strengthen our faith, shape our conscience, and remind us that we serve under Your divine administration. May our lives honor Christ Jesus, as we strengthen our faith and stand up for Him. Thought Questions: What helps you focus on the administration of God through Christ over the distracting arguments and speculations that often lead to division? How is your life and conversations a testament to the grace and patience of God? Are you grateful for Jesus Christ? How will you show that today? Why do some believers suffer shipwreck regarding their faith? What thoughts and habits help you establish a secure faith that does not falter?

Paul reminds them that the Lord is faithful and will strengthen and guard them. He commands the church to distance themselves from those who live irresponsibly and not according to the teachings they received. He stresses the importance of hard work, recalling how he and his companions modeled diligence by laboring day and night so they would not be a burden. Paul firmly warns that anyone unwilling to work should not eat. He encourages believers not to grow tired of doing good and advises them to lovingly correct those who disobey, yet not treat them as enemies. Paul closes with a prayer for peace and a personal blessing written by his own hand. As we live out our faith, we must reflect a spirit of diligence, integrity, and perseverance. The apostle Paul reminds us that our work matters to God and that we should not grow weary in doing good, even when it feels unnoticed. We are challenged to avoid idleness and contribute faithfully in whatever roles God has given us. When we see fellow believers struggling or drifting, we are instructed to correct them gently, treating them as family rather than enemies. Above all, we are encouraged to trust in the Lord's faithfulness to strengthen and protect us. In every situation, whether at work, in service, or in correction, we are to live with patience, endurance, and a heart that seeks peace. Kind Father, we thank You for being our constant source of strength and protection. Help us to live with discipline and dedication, honoring You in the way we work and serve. Guard our hearts from discouragement when the path feels long, and teach us to persevere in doing good. Give us the courage to lovingly guide others when they stumble, always with kindness, grace, and conviction. Fill our lives with Your peace and remind us that You are with us through every challenge. May we walk steadily in Your truth, working diligently and trusting fully in Your unfailing love. Thought Questions: How does Paul's warning against idleness and distracted living challenge you to reevaluate your daily habits and priorities in life? What are crucial keys when approaching a Christian about sin in their life? How do you prepare beforehand to do so with strength and grace? Might living in peace with God and others require breaking association with unrepentant Christian family? Why is this important to do?

Some were afraid that the day of the Lord had already arrived. Paul reassures them that it will not happen until the rebellion occurs and the "man of lawlessness" is revealed—someone who exalts himself above God and deceives many. However, God is in control and will ultimately overthrow him. Paul reminds the believers that they are chosen by God for salvation through the Spirit and must believe in the truth. He encourages them to stand firm in the teachings they received, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and not to be shaken by fear or false messages. Paul closes by praying that God would strengthen their hearts and encourage them in every good work and word. As followers of Christ, we must remain grounded in truth, especially when fear and confusion rise around us. Like the claims that Jesus had already come, we live in a world filled with distractions and deception, but we are called to hold to the gospel we have received. We must remember that God has chosen and equipped us through His Spirit to stand firm. Instead of being shaken by every new fear or rumor, we must focus our eyes on Christ and remain faithful in our words and actions. As in their day, apostasy and misleading figures may arise, but our hope is secure in Jesus, who has loved us and given us great hope as we continue to serve Him. Unshakeable Lord, You are our steady anchor in a world full of confusion and change. When fear tries to shake us, remind us of Your unchanging truth. Guard our hearts and minds against deception, and strengthen us to stand firm in Your Word. Help us to live with courage, trusting that You have called us, loved us, and will finish the work You have begun in us. Fill us with the comfort of Your presence and the power of Your Spirit. May our lives reflect Your glory as we wait with hope and confidence for the coming of our Lord Jesus. Thought Questions: What do you know about the day the Lord Jesus will return? How does knowing the word help you refute false ideas about the end of time? What do you know about “the man of lawlessness”? No matter who he was or is, what does God promise will happen through Jesus? How does God call us to Him through the gospel? He encourages them by affirming that their perseverance is evidence of God's righteous judgment—that they are counted worthy of His kingdom. Paul assures them that God will bring justice, repaying those who afflict them and granting relief to the faithful when Jesus is revealed from heaven. Christ will return in blazing power, punishing those who reject God, while being glorified in His people. Paul prays that God would make the Thessalonians worthy of His calling, fulfilling their every good purpose and act of faith. He asks that the name of Jesus be glorified and that they fully experience God's grace. We are challenged to consider how we respond when life is difficult. We are not promised an easy path but are called to grow stronger in faith and love through every trial. When we suffer, we can trust that God sees us, strengthens us, and will bring justice in His perfect time. The return of Jesus can come at any moment. We must ask ourselves if we live in a manner that demonstrates we are truly worthy of His calling. Every act of faith and perseverance holds significance. As we endure, we pray that Christ will be glorified in us, not only by what we say but also by how we live with courage and hope until He is revealed. Mighty God, You are holy, just, and full of mercy. We praise You for Your faithfulness and for the hope we have in Christ and His return. When we are weary, lift our eyes to You. When we are suffering, remind us that You are near and that Your promises never fail. Fill our hearts with love that endures and faith that stands firm. Teach us to rest in Your grace and to trust Your perfect timing. Glorify Yourself in us, Lord, and let our lives reflect Your goodness and light until the day we see Jesus face to face. Thought Questions: How is your faith enlarging and your love for Christians growing even deeper? Why is it essential to continue to develop these pursuits? They are warned that it will arrive suddenly, like a thief in the night. Believers are called to live alert and self-controlled, as children of the light, not caught off guard like the world. Paul encourages them to put on faith, love, and hope as armor. He reminds them that God has destined them for salvation, not wrath, through Jesus Christ. Paul also gives practical instructions: respect spiritual leaders, live peacefully with one another, encourage the weak, be patient with everyone, and rejoice always. He urges believers to pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, and not quench the Spirit by despising the truth. Paul closes with a blessing, asking God to sanctify them completely for Christ's return. The conclusion of this letter calls us to examine whether we are truly living as people of the light. Are we spiritually awake, or have we allowed busyness, fear, or comfort to dull our faith? We must ask God to sharpen our alertness and strengthen our faith, love, and hope. Choosing joy, prayer, and gratitude is not always easy, but it shapes our hearts to trust God in all circumstances. We are called to be peacemakers, encouragers, and patient people in a world full of anger and division. If we want to be ready for Christ's return, we must surrender daily to God's Spirit, trusting Him to develop our holiness as we live faithfully and rely upon the grace of Jesus. Benevolent Father, You have called us to live as people of the light. Help us to be awake to Your presence and faithful in every moment. Strengthen our faith, deepen our love, and anchor our hope firmly in You. Teach us to rejoice always, to pray without ceasing, and to give thanks no matter our circumstances. Protect us from anything that would quench Your Spirit's work in our lives. Make us people who encourage the weak, pursue peace, and show patience to all. Shape us into holy vessels, ready for the final coming of Jesus, our faithful Savior and Lord. Thought Questions: Are you ready for the day of the Lord? In what practical ways do you strive to stay alert and sober, prepared for the final return of Jesus? Do you wear the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of hope? How can others see that those qualities are a priority in your life? Christians are warned: “Do not quench the Spirit.” What does that mean, and how do you stay sensitive to the presence of the Holy Spirit?

Paul emphasizes the importance of living in a way that reflects their calling, especially regarding purity, warning them to avoid sexual immorality and to honor God with their bodies. He encourages them to love one another even more and to lead peaceful, hardworking lives so that their daily behavior will earn the respect of outsiders. He then offers comfort about those who have died, assuring the Thessalonians that believers who have fallen asleep in Christ will be raised when Jesus returns. Paul reminds them to grieve with hope, for when Christ comes again, all believers—both living and dead—will be gathered to Him forever. This is a tremendous source of comfort. We must ask ourselves if we are truly growing in holiness and love. We cannot be content with remaining where we are spiritually; we are called to move forward, striving to honor God in every part of our lives. We must fight against temptation and refuse to let the world draw us into sexual immorality and greed. Our love for others must extend beyond comfort, reaching into genuine acts of service, kindness, and self-sacrifice. We are also called to live quietly, work with purpose, and build respect through our daily choices. As we wait for Christ's return, we must live intentionally, so that our faith and eternal hope are not just beliefs, but what we openly display to the world. Worthy Lord, thank You for calling us to live lives that are pleasing to You. Help us to walk in holiness, guarding our hearts and bodies from sin and honoring You in our daily choices. Teach us to love one another more deeply, showing kindness, patience, and forgiveness. Strengthen us to live quietly, work faithfully, and reflect Your goodness in all we do. When we grieve, remind us of our hope in Jesus' return and the promise of eternal life with You. Shape our lives to be a witness to the world and keep our hearts longing for Christ's coming. Thought Questions: What does it mean to possess your vessel, your body, with honor? Why is it essential to flee immorality and pursue purity in all things? Is a life well-lived if someone loves others, serves Jesus, works hard, and pursues a quiet life? Why do people often seek so much more? Why do Christians not grieve as the world does when faithful family or friends die? Will you also give this kind of peace to your loved ones?

Unable to endure the uncertainty any longer, he sends Timothy to strengthen and encourage their faith, especially as they face trials. Paul reminds them that suffering is part of following Christ and that he had warned them about upcoming hardships. When Timothy returns with good news about their strong faith and love, Paul is filled with joy and thanksgiving. Their perseverance comforts him in his own struggles. Paul earnestly prays for the chance to see them again and help strengthen their faith even more. He asks God to make their love overflow for one another and for all people, and to establish their hearts blameless in holiness before Christ at His coming, who will return with all His saints in glory. Christians are reminded that we are called to strengthen and encourage one another in faith, especially during times of trial and mistreatment. We are not meant to face hardships alone; God has placed us in a community to build each other up. Like Paul, we should care deeply about the spiritual growth of others, praying faithfully for them. When we hear of others standing strong in their faith, it should fill us with joy and inspire us to persevere as well. We must also ask God to increase our love for one another and for all people. As we wait for Christ's return, we should seek to live holy lives, letting God establish our hearts in steadfast faith and sincere love. Marvelous God, we thank You for the faith You have planted in our yearning hearts and the strength You provide through every trial in life. He emphasizes that he and his companions preached the gospel with boldness, despite suffering and opposition. Their motives were pure, seeking to please God rather than people. Paul describes their approach as gentle, likening it to a nurturing mother, and later, to a father encouraging his children to walk in a manner worthy of God. He praises the Thessalonians for receiving the message not as human words, but as God's true Word, which was at work in them. Paul also acknowledges their suffering for their faith and expresses his deep longing to see them again, affirming that they are his joy and crown before the Lord, both now and upon Christ's return. In the likeness of Jesus and Paul, we are called to share the gospel with courage, sincerity, and love. We must seek to please God rather than seek approval from people, trusting Him with the results. Like Paul, we should care for others gently and encourage one another to live lives worthy of God's calling. As we face challenges or rejection for our faith, we can find strength knowing that God's Word is at work within us. We are not alone; we are part of a family of believers who are our joy and crown and Christian family. Let us stay faithful, speak boldly, and love deeply, knowing that everything we do for Christ matters both now and in eternity. Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting us with the message of the gospel. Help us to share Your truth boldly, with pure hearts that seek only to please You. May we find joy in serving You and bringing glory to Your name every day. Thought Questions: Paul and others, like Jesus, were persecuted for sharing the gospel. What mistreatment must you face to be a sharer of the good news? Paul taught truth in a way that honored God and showed affection for people. He reminds them that the gospel came to them not only in words but also in power, the Holy Spirit, and full conviction. The Thessalonians became imitators of Paul and of the Lord, receiving the message with joy even amidst suffering. Their faith quickly became an example to believers throughout Macedonia and Achaia. News of their transformation spread widely as they turned from idols to serve the living and true God and now eagerly wait for Jesus, who rescues them from coming wrath. This chapter celebrates a church whose authentic faith and endurance shine as a powerful testimony to others. We must embrace lives that reflect genuine faith, active love, and unwavering hope. We are reminded that the gospel should not just be something we hear, but something that transforms us through the power of the Holy Spirit. As we follow Christ, even in times of hardship, we can be examples to those around us. Like the Thessalonians, we are called to turn away from anything that competes with God's place in our lives and to serve Him wholeheartedly. Our faith story has the power to encourage others, spreading hope far beyond what we can see. Each day, we live with joyful expectation, knowing that Jesus is coming again to renew us and rescue us from the wrath to come. Almighty Lord, we thank You for the faith, love, and hope You cultivate within us through Jesus Christ. Help us receive Your Word with full conviction and joy, even in difficult times. May we become true imitators of Christ, shining as examples of Your grace to everyone around us. Turn our hearts away from anything that leads us away from You, and teach us to serve You with passion and sincerity. Strengthen us to remain faithful as we wait for Jesus, our Deliverer. Let our lives declare Your goodness, and may Your Spirit work powerfully through us each day. Thought Questions: In what practical, daily ways are you growing in your “work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ”? What does it mean to be an imitator of Paul, Silas, Timothy, and the Lord? In what ways are you striving to become more like them? Jesus is raised and returning. How are you preparing for His return? He asks for prayers that God would open doors for him to clearly proclaim the message of Christ, even while he is imprisoned. Paul also encourages believers to be wise in how they interact with outsiders, making the most of every opportunity and speaking with grace, even when in a position of authority like a master over a slave. He then lists several companions who are assisting him, including Tychicus, Onesimus, and others, and sends greetings to various churches and individuals. Paul reminds the Colossians to fulfill the ministries God has given them. He closes the letter with a personal touch, asking them to remember his chains and offering grace to all. Christians are called to be a people of prayer, persistence, and gratitude. We should continually seek God's guidance, praying not only for our needs but also for open doors to share the gospel with others. In every conversation, we are challenged to be wise and gracious, making the most of each opportunity to reflect Christ. We must remember that our words and actions can either draw people toward Jesus or push them away. Like Paul's companions, we are part of a larger mission, encouraging and supporting one another in faith. As we live out our ministries, we should remain alert, faithful, and bold, trusting that God will use our lives to spread His love and grace in the world. Gracious God, thank You for the gift of prayer and the privilege of seeking Your help. Draw us to be devoted in prayer: honest, thankful, and full of faith. Open doors for us to speak the mystery of Christ with clarity and courage. Teach us to walk in wisdom toward others and to let our conversations be filled with grace, seasoned with truth. Strengthen us to encourage one another and to remain faithful to Your mission for us. May we reflect Christ in our words, actions, and attitudes. Use us to bring Your hope and light into every place we go. Thought Questions: What motivates you to be careful how you speak to unbelievers? Having died to their old lives and been raised with Christ, they are called to cast off sinful behaviors like immorality, anger, and slander. Instead, they should clothe themselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Forgiveness is key, just as Jesus forgave them. Above all virtues, love binds everything together in perfect unity. Paul emphasizes letting Christ's peace rule in their hearts and encourages believers to be thankful. The message of Christ should dwell richly among them, expressed through teaching, wisdom, and songs of praise. In all they do, they are to act in the name of the Lord Jesus. Lastly, Paul addresses family dynamics, encouraging wives, husbands, and children to embody Christ's presence within the home. If we are raised in Christ, we must flee old habits that no longer define us in Him, like sexual sin or bitterness toward others. In our daily lives, we should actively choose purity of heart, compassion, and forgiveness, even when it is hard. When tensions rise at home, work, or with friends, we must remember to let Christ's peace guide our responses. Love must be the foundation of everything we do, being featured in our family. In every situation, whether speaking, working, or serving, we are called to do it all in Jesus' name with thankfulness. True transformation is about growing into the image of Christ—reflecting His character and honoring Him in every relationship, every decision, and every moment. Loving Father, thank You for raising us to new life in Christ. Help us to set our hearts on things above and to let go of anything that pulls us away from You. Clothe us with character traits that emulate Christ. Empower us to forgive as You have forgiven us, and let Your peace rule in our hearts. May love guide all we do, and may the message of Christ dwell richly within us, especially in our marriage and homes. Whatever we say or do today, let it be in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to You always. Thought Questions: What helps you keep seeking things above and set your mind on heavenly things? How is this more than morning prayer and bible study? In what way is love the perfect bond of unity? What helps you show patience, compassion, and forgiveness for those who wrong you? “It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.” Why is this mindset vital in the home, with marriages and relationships between parents and children?

Paul reminds the church that all the fullness of God dwells in Christ, and they have been made complete through Him. He emphasizes that believers were once dead in sin but have been made alive with Christ, who forgave all sins and canceled the record of debt by nailing it to the cross. Paul warns against being judged by rules about food, festivals, or Sabbath days, as these are only shadows of the reality found in Jesus. He encourages the church not to let anyone disqualify them through false humility or worship of angels but to hold fast to Christ, the Head, from whom the whole body grows through God's power. Christ Himself contains all the treasures of wisdom and power, and we must walk in a relationship with Him. We must not be misled by arguments or traditions that sound wise but are not rooted in the truth of Jesus. Christ is the fullness of God, and because we belong to Him, we already have everything we need. We were once spiritually dead, but through His death and resurrection, we have been made alive and fully forgiven. The record of our sins has been erased, nailed to the cross. We must not follow man's rules or rituals to earn God's favor. Instead, we hold tightly to Christ, who gives us life and helps us grow as one body united in Him. Glorious Lord, Your Son is sufficient. He is strong enough, wise enough, and glorious enough to save and protect us eternally. Help us to faithfully walk with Him and serve Him daily with overflowing gratitude. Father, protect us from the deceptions of the world: human reasoning, traditions of men, and those who seek to be our rulers and judges. We will celebrate our freedom in Christ, having been raised up with Him through baptism, and now walking as forgiven, redeemed followers of our King. Guide us to make decisions based on the Head, not on anything or anyone else. Thought Questions: How do you stay connected to “Christ Himself” and avoid being affected by “persuasive arguments” that twist the word of God? What did Jesus do for you when you were “buried with Him in baptism”? Now alive in Him, does anyone else have the right to be your judge? Some religions teach restrictions not found in the Bible. Why is even conservatism not beneficial if it is not according to the teachings of Jesus?

He prays for their spiritual growth, urging them to live lives worthy of the Lord. The chapter highlights Christ as the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, and the head of the church. Through Him, all things were created and reconciled by His blood on the cross. Paul reminds them of their former alienation but celebrates their reconciliation through Jesus. He explains his role as a servant of the gospel, laboring to present everyone mature in the Lord, whose mystery has now been revealed: Christ in you, the hope of glory. As recipients of God's grace, we proclaim the greatness of Jesus and our calling to live in a way that honors Him. We have been rescued from darkness and brought into the kingdom of Christ, who is the image of the invisible God and the one through whom all things were created. Because of this, we live with gratitude and purpose. We do not walk aimlessly, but walk worthy of the Lord, bearing fruit in every good work. His power strengthens us, and we endure with patience and joy. We were once alienated, but now we are reconciled through Christ's sacrifice. We press on in faith, grounded and firm in the hope of the gospel, trusting in Christ's supremacy and love. Benevolent God, thank You for the hope of heaven made available to us through our Savior, Jesus Christ. Help us to increase in our faithfulness to You and our love for others as a demonstration of our gratitude. Challenge us to grow in knowledge concerning Your glory and the power of Jesus Christ in our lives. He is the means through which You rescued us, our Creator and Redeemer. May Jesus take first place in everything. We will continue in the faith and hope of the gospel and ask for boldness to share the completeness found in Christ with everyone we can. Thought Questions: Faith and love are inspired by hope in God. What is hope? What are the things you hope for in the Lord that keep you faithful to Him? What are some amazing qualities of Jesus listed in this chapter? What does it look like for Him to take first place in everything in your life? How has Jesus “reconciled you in His fleshly body through death” (vs. 22)? What does He expect from you because of His sacrifice?

He reminds them to rejoice always, be gentle, and not be anxious about anything, but instead present their requests to God with thanksgiving. As they do this, God's peace will guard their hearts and minds. They are urged to fix their thoughts on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Paul thanks them for their support and generosity, acknowledging that their care for him reflects their partnership in the gospel. He assures them that God will supply all their needs according to His riches. Paul closes with praise to God and sends greetings, encouraging them to remain strong in grace and unity. We are encouraged to stand firm in our faith and seek unity in our relationships. When we feel overwhelmed or anxious, we are reminded to pray to God, bringing our requests with hearts full of gratitude. As we do, His peace—far beyond our understanding—will guard our hearts and minds. We are also called to focus our thoughts on what is true, pure, and praiseworthy, shaping our mindset to reflect Christ. As we practice contentment and trust in God's provision, we learn that our strength comes not from ourselves, but from Christ within us. We are reminded to live generously, support one another, and rest in the promise that God will supply all we need according to His riches. Loving Father, thank You for being our source of peace and strength. When we feel anxious or overwhelmed, remind us to come to You in prayer with thankful hearts. Fill us with the peace that surpasses all understanding and guard our minds from fear. Help us to fix our thoughts on what is true, pure, and worthy of praise. Teach us to be content in every circumstance, knowing that Christ strengthens us beyond measure. May we live generously and trust that You will provide all we need. Let our lives reflect Your joy, grace, and love in the name of Jesus. Thought Questions: Disharmony among believers is the enemy of peace. How can you show kindness to others to restore greater peace in your fellowship? What place does prayer have in your daily life? How is your attitude going into prayer a massive part of how profitable it will be? Do activities after prayer matter? Why is it essential to follow prayer with focus on important things and generous service to others?

Though he once had many reasons to boast—his heritage, zeal, and obedience to the law—Paul now sees all of it as loss compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ. Disciples are encouraged to pursue a righteousness that comes through faith, not through works of the Law. Paul tells them he has not reached perfection but is pressing to know Christ fully. He challenges them to forget what lies behind and strain toward what is ahead. Their true citizenship is in heaven, and they should live as those eagerly waiting for Christ, who will transform their bodies into His likeness by His great power. Our value does not come from our achievements, status, or past actions, but from knowing Christ. Like Paul, we must let go of anything we once considered gain and see it as loss compared to the joy of walking with Jesus. We are called to stop striving for righteousness purely through our efforts and instead flourish in the righteousness that comes by faith. As we grow, we should not dwell on the past, whether failures or successes, but press forward purposefully. Our eyes should be set on the eternal prize, not on temporary things. We are citizens of heaven, and our lives should reflect that identity. We must pursue Christ with humility and a heart eager for His return. Glorious Lord, help us understand that our salvation is found in You, not in our accomplishments or perfection. Lead us to surrender to Christ, live faithfully to Him, and glorify Him as our source of righteousness. Please give us the strength to let go of any part of our past that did not prioritize Jesus. Guide us to look ahead to a life that pursues the calling voice of our Savior, following the examples of faithful men and women throughout the ages. Fill our hearts with a yearning for heaven and great anticipation for new and eternal spiritual bodies. Thought Questions: Regarding religious accomplishments, what are some things you may put confidence in instead of Christ? Why is this a mistake? What are you willing to leave behind to prioritize “knowing Christ Jesus”? Why must some things be “counted as loss” to be faithful? How often do you think about heaven and the change to come? How does this hope help you keep your mind off carnal, earthly things?

Paul calls believers to imitate Christ, who, though fully God, humbled Himself by taking on human form and becoming obedient to death on a cross. Because of this humility, God exalted Him and gave Him the name above every name. Every knee will bow one day, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Paul encourages them to seek their salvation with reverence, knowing God is working in them. He urges believers to shine like lights in a dark world by living without complaining or arguing. Paul also commends Timothy and Epaphroditus as faithful examples of service and selflessness, encouraging the church to honor those who live sacrificially for the sake of Christ. Christians must live with humility, as Christ did. We are challenged to put the needs of others above our own and to approach life with a servant's heart. When we let go of selfish ambition, we reflect the heart, character, and sacrifice of Jesus and promote unity within our community. We are reminded that obedience and a positive attitude are crucial to following God and that the Father exalts those who live and love like Jesus. As we live out our faith, we are called to shine in a dark world through our attitudes, words, and love. Let us strive to serve faithfully, encourage one another, and support those who devote their lives to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Gracious God, thank You for the example of Christ's humility and love. Help us to follow His example by putting others before ourselves and serving with joyful hearts, especially among Your people. Shape our attitudes to reflect Christ's mindset: free from pride and full of mercy. Work in us to will and to act according to Your good purpose. May we shine like lights in this world, living with integrity, compassion, and unity. Give us strength to obey even when it's hard and help us to do everything without grumbling or disputing. Transform our hearts to look more like Jesus. Thought Questions: How do you go above and beyond to maintain love and unity among fellow believers? How important is unity to the Father? In what ways must you embody the same attitude as Jesus when He came to earth? What does humility look like in your daily life? We are called to be lights in this world, “holding fast the word of life.” What does that mean, and why is it important to prioritize it?

He is confident that the good work God started in them will continue until completion. Despite his chains, Paul rejoices because his situation is helping spread the gospel. Even though some preach Christ with wrong motives, he is glad that Christ is being proclaimed. He shares his personal struggle, wanting to depart and be with Christ, yet knowing it is more helpful to remain and encourage others. He declares that to live is Christ and to die is gain. Paul urges believers to live worthy of the gospel, to stand united in faith, and to remain courageous and unwavering, even when they suffer for following Jesus. We are encouraged to live with a Christ-centered purpose, no matter our circumstances. We are reminded that God is always at work, shaping us into who He has called us to be. Even in seasons of hardship or waiting, we can find joy knowing our struggles can advance His message. We are not alone. We are part of something bigger, united with others in faith. Our lives should reflect Christ in words and actions, showing boldness, love, and humility. When we face challenges, we can stand firm, knowing that suffering for our faith is not a setback but a sign of our commitment. Together, we press forward, trusting that God will finish what He started in us for His glory. Kind Father, thank You for beginning a good work in us and for the promise that You will complete it. Help us live lives that reflect Christ in every situation, whether in comfort or in struggle. Teach us to see challenges as opportunities to glorify You and encourage others in their faith. Fill us with boldness to stand firm in unity, striving together for the faith of the gospel, with a shared joy that our circumstances cannot shake. May our love grow in knowledge and discernment, so we can live pure and blameless lives, fearless through our confidence in You. Thought Questions: Why was Paul able to be joyful even in prison? What produces enduring joy in you through the great challenges and struggles of life? Paul's circumstances helped people hear the gospel. In what specific ways is God at work in your life to help people hear about Jesus? God's people are stronger together. How are you actively helping fellow believers stand firm in one spirit and strive together for the faith?

The 4 Disciplines of Execution: Achieving Your Wildly Important GoalsExcel Still More JournalOkay, my new friend Rich Howe, from Richmond TX, has turned me on to a great new book. It is designed for business and company leaders, but it includes timeless principles. I see application for the individual, the family, the church, and business. All that is required of you going in is an Excel Still More mentality. You just have to desire to see better. And you have to be open to a better way of getting there. The proven wisdom of these four principles is repeated all over. But will it's next success story be yours? - What is a wildly important goal and how do you focus on it?- What are lead measures and how do I confidently identify them?- How do you construct and keep a compelling scoreboard along the way?- How can a cadence of accountability keep you moving straight to your goal?- What is one area of your life where you will implement these strategies today?
1 Thessalonians 4:1-12 (NASB) 1 Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk ), that you excel still more. 2 For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you. 7 For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. 8 So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you. 9 Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; 10 for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more, 11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you, 12 so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need. Excel Still More:1) In your walk with Christ (4:1-2)2) In your purity (4:3-8)3) In your love (4:9-12)
Please take a moment and check out the Balancing the Christian Life Conference. It goes live as an online experience on July 27th through 29th.If you are interested in the Excel Still More 3 Month Journal mentioned in today's episode, you can order through the link provided. I hope you'll go on this journey with me today of shrinking the idea lifetime into the form of a single day of living. The similarities are clear. But each day is more valuable than just building blocks to some desired future. The goals of a desired future work best when infused into every single day. I don't want to enjoy the fruit of devoted days one day later... I wanted to enjoy every single day right now!- How is each day of life a microcosm of a lifetime? - Can you detail what priority list you'd like to see over your lifetime?- How can you infuse each day with the same balance you'd desire for your life?- Have you tried directional journaling? Where you address God and plan a good day?- Are you willing to live in day tight increments for today's benefit as well as tomorrow?
Today was a trip down memory lane for me. I listened to the very first episode of Excel Still More: Just Get Better. That episode drew a little bit of criticism in the early days for sounding like another way of packaging work based salvation. I filed that away as something to consider but I just wasn't in a place in my life to see it.I've learned a lot since then. I trust you have as well. So I was ready to go back and listen and be woefully embarrassed. It turns out... it wasn't too bad. And I stand behind the content. But it did omit some needful elements of God's grace driving us and protecting us. And a clearer message that perfect so as to be blessed by God is not the goal, because by our own power, such a thing is unattainable. I'd address some of that in the episode today. But also, I want us all to see that our imperfections are always before us. Sometimes we get things right. But often times we may do the right thing with the wrong motives. Other times our motives are pure and we miss the mark on actions. All of us need to grow and change and learn. But, only closeness to God can help. Only His power, His grace, His Spirit, and His wisdom given to us can make us good. Let's grow closer to God. A cool byproduct is that people who thing they will never come together may find each other at His feet. - Why is "Excel Still More" a better idea to carry than simply "Just Get Better"?- How is the pursuit of better sometimes a path to pride and further from God?- Why is pursuing closeness to God the only way to be saved and grow in faith?- Why is both "right wrong" and "wrong right" often a part of our path?- How can we have confidence if "right right" is so hard to attain and keep?
Gordon Elder DCCJP At the time of the recording (September 2022), Dr. Elder ha just finished a three-year program that, because of COVID, ended up being a four-year program. It was a 300-hour program for a post-doctorate degree in health for the brainstem, the craniocervical junction. The title is Diplomate. It's a DCCJP, Diplomate in Chiropractic Craniocervical Junction Procedures. The course was divided up into 12-hour weekends that were held in several different cities. They ran all day Saturday and half the day on Sunday, usually once a month for nine months of the year. It's a post-doctorate degree. A chiropractor can't call themself a specialist in anything unless they have a Diplomate in an approved program. The beginning was a basic deep-dive, then it moved on to remind you what you had learned in school and more. Then on to the limits of research and current research. The brainstem is the first thing that starts working at conception, that's the first part that's formed and it's the last part that stops working when you die. It's based at the base of the skull and the top of the neck. You cannot be alive if your brainstem is not functional.Dr. Elder likes to work together with other specialists to resolve complicated cases, as opposed to just hoping that what he does eventually works. He says this about the DCCJP community, “ What I've noticed here is when you get people who are super dedicated to advancing, you realize how much you know and how much you don't know. How much somebody else may be-- what knowledge they may have. You don't have the time, background, or expertise to become experts in every field. You're happy to refer out and work together with other specialists and true specialists, not just somebody else who knows a little something. Really work together with other specialists to resolve the complicated cases instead of just hoping that what you do eventually works.”Excel Still More. Dr. Elder plans to continue learning and doing some research now that he has time. He says about the Diplomate, “ It's given me the knife and the fork and told me where the food is, and now I can go get the food and start working on it.”To contact Ruth, go to https://www.blairclinic.comruth@blairclinic.comhttps://www.facebook.com/rutelin
When I decided to put together an episode on coaching, I wanted to get two preachers who knew the topic — from both a sports perspective and a church perspective. I definitely got the right men. Kris Emerson is the preacher for the church of Christ in Lindale, Texas, and the host of the Excel Still More podcast. Terry Francis preaches for the church of Christ in Chelsea, Alabama, and partners with Phillip Martin to host the Do The Work live stream on Facebook. Timothy had Paul. Paul had Barnabas. We all have mentors, and we should all be mentors to others. That's the way we keep the gospel alive and vibrant for succeeding generations. How does mentoring work in the Lord's church, and how can we make it work better? Hal Hammons is the preacher for the Lakewoods Drive church of Christ in Georgetown, Texas. He is the host of the Citizen of Heaven podcast. You are encouraged to seek him and the Lakewoods Drive church through Facebook and other social media. Lakewoods Drive is an autonomous group of Christians dedicated to praising God, teaching the gospel to all who will hear, training Christians in righteousness, and serving our God and one another faithfully. We believe the Bible is God's word, that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, that heaven is our home, and that we have work to do here while we wait. Regular topics of discussion and conversation include: Christians, Jesus, obedience, faith, grace, baptism, New Testament, Old Testament, authority, gospel, fellowship, justice, mercy, faithfulness, forgiveness, Twenty Pages a Week, Bible reading, heaven, hell, virtues, character, denominations, submission, service, character, COVID-19, assembly, Lord's Supper, online, social media, YouTube, Facebook.
I'm currently leading a study on Meet-Up. We're going through 1 and 2 Thessalonians. I'm calling the study Excel Still More. 2 Thessalonians 3:1 caught my attention with what Paul asked pray for from the saints! It's something we need to be praying about as well. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/icdbenjaminlee/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/icdbenjaminlee/support

I have two guests with me to share their insights — and if they choose, their feelings as well. Kris Emerson is host of the Excel Still More podcast and preacher for the Lindale church of Christ. Steve Wolfgang is the evangelist for the Downer's Grove church of Christ in suburban Chicago. This is the first two segments of our discussion; we discuss the role conscience plays in spiritual decision-making; and whether we should care more about people's feelings than Ben Shapiro seems to. Maybe it's the holidays, Maybe it's my new son-in-law. In any case, I've been spending a lot of time recently thinking about taking people on the outside and bringing them inside, creating blessings for host and visitor alike. This week we will discuss Biblical hospitality and Abraham's example; barriers we may be erecting to keep brethren at a distance; the blessings that my guests have brought to the podcast; and how getting everything you want rarely comes from taking everything you can. The twelfth installment by Pastor James T. Egan entitled "Excel Still More" in the series "The First Epistle To The Thessalonians"
Is the internet the irresistible and desirable future for the church, or is it the church’s doom? What are “social influencers,” who are they influencing, and for what purpose? We cover this and more in the second half of my conversation with Kris Emerson and Dr. Kenny Embry. Kris preaches for the Lindale church of Christ in Lindale, Texas, and hosts the Excel Still More podcast. Kenny is an associate professor of communication at Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Florida, and hosts the “Balancing the Christian Life” podcast.
It’s a new world out there, for better or worse. And the internet is its university, its playground, and its courtroom. There’s no point in pretending otherwise. We will explore the pros and cons of the internet with my two guests. Kris Emerson preaches for the Lindale church of Christ in Lindale, Texas, and hosts the Excel Still More podcast. Dr. Kenny Embry is an associate professor of communication at Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Florida. In part 1, we discuss the echo chamber effect we experience online; and we consider the profound effects, both positive and negative, social media is having on our lives.
The Excel Still More podcast is heavily invested in self improvement. We want these episodes to help you be disciplined, make great decisions, and reap incredible benefit. But let's be clear, none of this works if I am only concerned with myself and my growth. A much more rewarding goal is to help others around you grow. What if you could make changes that are designed to create an environment for change? As a result, not only do you grow, but you make it possible from every member of you family to grow with you? - How does the rising tide life all boats?- Should you focus more on that tide or on your own boat?- What happens when people invest in environments that are better for all?- Why is focus on just myself a big miss when it comes to Christianity?- How can you make change possible for your family, your church, your friends, along with yourself?
This episode features an interview with the host of the podcast Excel Still More, Kris Emerson. What's the difference between a podcast about the Bible and a sermon recycled as a podcast? Craig and Stuart sit down with Kris Emerson. He's a preacher, blog writer, and well-known as the host of the Excel Still More podcast. Megan from the Wild Healers podcast asks, "Is it possible for an independent podcast to make it into the Apple New and Noteworthy section?"Special thanks to Kris Emerson, host of the Excel Still More podcast, for sharing his experience getting into the New and Noteworthy section.TL;DRThe Apple Podcasts New and Noteworthy section is a common goal for new podcasters. The appeal is that if you can get your podcast listed there, you'll be able to grow your audience faster, build momentum, and ride that wave off into the sunset of your podcasting dreams.So... how exactly do you get in? In this episode, we'll share what we know and ask Kris, a fellow Buzzsprout podcaster, what he did to land in the New and Noteworthy section. What's the best strategy? The best way to get into the Apple New and Noteworthy section is to focus on getting a lot of listeners to subscribe to your show in Apple Podcasts in a short period of time. As a new podcast, your window to make this happen is typically 90 days from when you launch your first episode. At one point, many podcasters believed that it was the number of downloads or reviews you received that got you in the N&N section. But over time, as we've seen podcasters try and game the system, we've found that those aren't big indicators.Apply isn't spilling the beans on their process any time soon, but we DO know that an algorithm based on how many subscribers you get feeds possible selections to an Apple employee who ultimately determines how makes it in and who doesn't.Record your podcasting question at Speakpipe.com/Buzzsprout to be featured on a future episode.Review Podcasting Q&A in Podchaser to let us know what you think of the show.
Welcome to Season 2! Last year we collected 82 episodes designed to help you grow in faith, deepen relationships and get the most out of the life God has given you. Now, we head into this New Year ready to use all of that experience to reach new heights! Firstly, you have to decide who you want to become. What does a better you look like? Secondly, you must be specific, in terms of a goal to reach that proves that commitment. Then, you pray for God to provide the pieces that you need to get there. Finally, if you can build a successful, stress free, month of progress, and repeat 12 times: you will be standing on that new and higher platform by year's end! Let's discuss how all of that works, and get moving into a beautiful year to Excel Still More!
We will discuss the myth of “priorities.” Thinking we can balance commitments to money and the Lord is wrongheaded, and doomed to tip to the wrong side.We will discuss Barbarians at the Gate, a book that details the buyout of RJR Nabisco. When making money is the only objective, there’s no limit to how insane the behavior can get.We will discuss professional athletes and their contracts. Measuring men by their wallets is par for the course in sports. That’s not the kind of role model we need these days.We will discuss London, a board game in which you are forced to balance a growing economy with the real problems that it creates. Turns out, more prosperity is not necessarily better.
Is anybody else sporting a terrible memory? Oh man, I'm probably the worst I've ever met, but I can't remember. Seriously, forgetting names, ideas, points, tasks, the names of my children... it's a big deal. But, the work still needs to be done, you know? Names still need to be recalled. Duties still need to be carried out. The Lord's work still needs to be done. Enter a life hack: Write it down! No matter a digital or paper tool, create an environment for success by documenting things you will need later. This is a crucial step in the Excel Still More life and this episode will dig in on how that all works out. - Do you have a poor memory? Do you forget people, places and things with ease?- Are we still held responsible for things we forgot- So how can we keep track of new information and current, daily goals- What are the direct benefits of documenting ideas and how do we do it.- What are the top 5 (or so) things we ought to consider writing down daily

It's seven great days, each one lived and utilized to the fullest. You can do this! To help, we have designed a journal: The ESM 3-Month Journal. The second half of the episode walks you through the pieces of the journal and how I have personally used them. Whether you have the journal or have never heard of it, you will hopefully be encouraged by this potential tool to assist in a morning ritual of prayer, Bible reading and essentialism planning!- How to enjoy every morning of your life- How to embrace the mercies of Jesus which are new every morning- How to find joy in remembering the past but holding zero guilt about it!- How to use the ESM Journal to set a great day in motion- How to use the Journal to stay updated on goals throughout the week

I have been preaching … about making plans. If you can plan for a family vacation or a comfy retirement, why not also plan to grow your faith?I have been reading … Psalm 88, arguably the saddest chapter in the Bible. But even though the psalm doesn’t say so, there is a reason for your suffering. In fact, there may be several.I have been hearing … Game of Thrones is done after 8 seasons — and unlike some Christians, I actually think that’s a good thing. I have been playing … The Voyages of Marco Polo, and it makes me wonder whether superheroes ever get jealous of one another.
Simon Sinek wrote the book "Start with Why." It discusses businesses and advertising and how the proper use of "the Golden Circle" makes all the difference. If you can learn the same strategy and apply it in your daily tasks and goals, you too can see incredible differences in your achievements. We often work from the outside in: WHAT do I want to happen? Then we decide: HOW can I make that happen? But we rarely spend time considering the most important question of all: WHY is any of this important to me? When if we Start with Why, we can let action grow out of passion. And that produces the most astounding and consistent results! To learn how to find your Why and see where that can go, check out today's Excel Still More episode.- How can Simon Sinek's book "Start with Why" help you reach your goals?- Why do people who know what they want often times comes short of it?- How does the Golden Circle help us see goal achievement in a new way?- How do you find your passion and then use that passion to do great things?- What are the limits to your production if you are driven by clear purpose?
