Book: The Happiness Formula: AScientific, Groundbreaking Approach to Happiness and Personal Fulfillment Website(s): www.triplehproject.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/triplehprojectllc His Passion & Philosophy ”When I was a third year medical student, I becameinterested in the study of Human Hope—a passion that continued for 35 years inaddition to my obstetrics and gynecology practice. During these decades ofresearch, I discovered a mathematical equation that precisely explains therecipe for a happy life. Today, sharing this finding with others is my greatestpassion.” “The realization that our hopes, our hungers and ourhappiness are tightly linked together is what led me to conceive of theTriple-H Project LLC—an entity wholly dedicated to help create hopeful andhappier communities—one encounter at time—regardless whether the setting orvenue is at the workplace, civic gathering, or university campus”. Not too long ago, a little boy in Lafayette, Indiana, who “had a bad day at school” and was also overwhelmed by “tons of homework”,called 911 to ask for help. Thedispatcher on duty, at the Lafayette Police Department, Ms. Antonia Bundy, without any hesitation, helped him over the telephone with his math homework.Luckily, it was not a busy day. At theend, he expressed gratitude for the assistance and also apologized for thecall—but added, “I really needed help”. Public reactions and comments about this incidence wereprofuse. Many empathized with the boy; some blamed his parents, while othersexpressed anger over the little boy's misuse of the public emergency line for anon-emergent triviality. The point that must not be missed is that the boy wassimply overwhelmed and he needed help. As founder and CEO of the Triple-HProject, I was very impressed and glad that he sought help where he could ratherthan resorting to an option that was either harmful to himself or to others. The plight of this little boy goes a long way to arguefor the need of Triple-H Project in every city and town— where people can callto request the assistance of a happiness coach. “The workplace, civic gatherings, college anduniversity campuses are the three very practical settings or venues where themission of the Triple-H Project (THP) can be best implemented. College anduniversity campuses being the place where young men and women gather to receiveformal preparation for life also provides the most appropriate setting to learnthe mathematics of happiness; and become adequately equipped to live a happylife in a very challenging world that awaits them after graduation.Additionally, the college years are also the time of major psychologicalturbulence and emotional fragility with high suicide rate. For these reasons,it is my personal desire and mission to give priority to college anduniversities students in sharing my recipe for happiness”. Dr. Alphonsus Obayuwana accepts speaking engagementsbefore large and small audiences, conducts hope seminars, and happinessworkshops. He also accepts clients for one-on-one hope and happiness coaching. Author - The Happiness Formula: A Scientific,Groundbreaking Approach to Happiness and Personal Fulfillment. Course Director - The Happiness Formula Contributor - Psychology Today Alphonsus has spent the past thirty-five years studyinghuman hope and happiness. In 1979, he was awarded a national research grant andSmith-Kline Medical Perspective Fellowship to develop an instrument formeasuring human hope, with the purpose of detecting hopelessness early enoughin troubled human individuals so assistance could be offered in time to preventsuicide. The Hope Index Scale (HIS) Alphonsus created has been used bycompanies including the Coca-Cola company, General Motors, the VeteransAdministration, and many academic institutions inside and outside the United States. A scientific, groundbreaking approach to happiness and personal fulfillment. In 1979, Dr. Alphonsus Obayuwana was awarded a national research grant and Smith-Kline Medical Perspective Fellowship to develop an instrument for measuring human hope, with the purpose of detecting hopelessness early enough in troubled human individuals so assistance could be offered in time to prevent suicide. The Hope Index Scale (HIS) that resulted from this grant became very popular with Fortune 500 companies and other institutions both in the US and in other countries. This led to the foundation of decades of research that ultimately resulted in this cutting-edge book, The Happiness Formula: Using Science to Understand Personal Satisfaction, Human Hope, and Subjective Well-Being. Unlike other books about happiness, which are too often filled with dos and don'ts, wishful thinking, and empty aphorisms, The Happiness Formula breaks new ground by introducing a universal unit of measure called the “Personal Happiness Index” or PHI. This makes it possible—for the first time ever—to calculate and assign numerical happiness scores to human individuals by plugging their unique hopes, hungers, assets, and aspirations into an equation. Despite its title, The Happiness Formula is much more than a mathematical equation for measuring happiness. It is a book about life; the relationship between human hope and happiness; how to find, measure and boost them; and, most interestingly, how to confirm the happiest country in the world and even help identify the happiest living human, or HLH. It challenges the World Happiness Report of 2023, debunks three major happiness myths, and then introduces the Triple-H Equation—the simple but profound formula about what makes life worth living. This is a book for happiness seekers and happiness advocates everywhere.

To ring in 2024 I'm excited to revisit an incredibly encouraging and human conversation I had with Carlos Whittaker earlier in 2023. More often than not “productivity minded” people can place too much emphasis on the weeks leading up to and the first few weeks of the New Year. I wanted to reverse that trend and focus on a conversation that reminds us of the importance of human connections and deep relationships in creating a life of contentment and true fulfillment. In this conversation Carlos and I talk about his latest book, How to Human: Three Ways to Share Life Beyond What Distracts, Divides, and Disconnects Us. Carlos is an author, podcaster, and global speaker who I've had the privilege of learning from in live settings and through his podcast Human Hope with Carlos Whittaker.  In How to Human, Carlos offers a fresh vision for becoming the best versions of ourselves. We can refuse to let disagreements define us. We can say no to becoming upset, rage-filled humans and say yes to fuller, happier lives. It begins as we make the shift from “me” to “we” to “everybody” in a three-part journey to be human, see fellow humans, and free those around us. This conversation was a real inspiration for me as Carlos and I unpacked the themes and messages of his book. Carlos reminds listeners that it's more powerful to not stand on issues, but to walk with people. That journey of discovering the true value of relationships and the beauty and hope that bind us together rather than focusing on the polarizing divisions is a message I'm so excited for listeners to explore further in this episode. Are you as humble as you think you are? A question that may seem simple, yet it unravels profound truths about our nature. In this riveting episode, we examine the intricate relationship between self-righteousness and humility. We invite you on a journey that navigates through the deep waters of empathy, compassion, and grace. We challenge the notion that we are ever 'out of touch' with the struggles of others. Instead, we affirm how our experiences intertwine, influencing our evangelism and overall human interactions.Diving into Biblical parables like Luke 18:9-14, we illuminate the importance of humility in leading a righteous life. We explore the symbolism of 'light' and 'darkness' as it pertains to knowledge and ignorance, and how these concepts shape our understanding of our faith. We also delve into the importance of reaching out to others - a task that requires us to step off the stage and into the stable, seeing ourselves as one step away from those yet to confess their faith. Finally, we unravel the power of service, looking at the story of Gideon as a testament to humility in leadership. We marvel at how God's supernatural intervention alters our understanding of our lives, often choosing the 'unqualified' to do His work. Our discussion culminates in a reflection on the calling of the disciples, showing us that staying humble and empathetic towards the struggles of others is a key cornerstone of our faith. So, join us as we explore these profound truths, and remember, humility isn't thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less.Listen & subscribe to Human Hope - https://tinyurl.com/HumanHopePodcastCheck out more of Lauren Daigle's music and if she's coming to a city near you by visiting laurendaigle.com!

With a new perspective of launching his children into the world, Carlos is here to ask the hard-hitting questions. He'll inspire you to become a father who knows how to be, see, and free.    Key Takeaways   No app can replace the love and connection you provide your child.  What are you using to medicate some of the inadequacies you feel in your parenting?  Lower the volume of life and be present.  See past the problems and behaviors to parent your child. You are set apart as a father to breathe life into your kids.    Carlos Whittaker   Carlos Whittaker spreads hope and encouragement through his roles as an author, podcaster, and global speaker. He and his wife Heather live in Nashville, Tennessee, with their three young adult children.   Key Quotes   14:03 - "Men were just addicted to, dads were just addicted to their work, before that, they were addicted to whatever it may have been. So, what is the medicator? The medicator that you're using to medicate some inadequacies that you feel in your parenting, break those things and be more present. What does it look like to lower the volume of life, slow the pace of life down?" 16:54 - "What are ways that you as a father are set apart and separated from the rest of all of humanity? All of the other individuals that are speaking into [your] lives, you as a father, you as a dad, you are set apart in a way that nobody else is. Just a look from their father, looking them in the eyes and saying, I love you and I'm proud of you. Just that is going to free your kids in ways that you probably can't even imagine."   Links from Today's Conversation   Episode 300 Dad Notes Carlos' Website Parenting Podcast Series: Episode 121-125 of Human Hope with Carlos Whittaker Episode 122: Parenting Series - My Kids' AMAZING Therapists, David Thomas and Sissy Goff How to Human: Three Ways to Share Life Beyond What Distracts, Divides, and Disconnects Us by Carlos Whittaker All Carlos Whittaker Books   Connect with dadAWESOME   Make a Donation to dadAWESOME Join the dadAWESOME Prayer Team Receive weekly encouragement by texting "dad" to 651-370-8618

The most natural thing in life is to have a troubled heart. It doesn't take long to look around us and see that everyone everywhere is experiencing hurt and heartache. How do you deal with that? There are a lot of pathways that culture serves up.Everyone's faith journey is in a different place, it's winding and complex. But God is God and THAT path remains, even when we've wandered off it for a time. There are more paths than ever before in today's world—more options for spiritual “enlightenment” or curate-your-own-beliefs faith. But no path leads to true happiness and everlasting life except the “Jesus alone” path. It may be narrower than you'd like, not as comfortable or easy, it won't make you popular and accepted by the masses but it's more satisfying than you could ever imagine. In today's verses, we are reminded of that beautiful fact.//If you would like to dive deeper into this, or other verses in the Bible, if you have a verse you would like to submit to have included in a future episode if have questions about the Bible that you would like answered in a bonus episode, or simply want to connect with me... text VERSED to 88474 or click hereAlso included in that link is a list of resources and references I use in this podcast and can help you grow deeper in your faith as well. As always – ratings and reviews are massive! It's hard for me to see at times that the two are not at odds. I'm learning that. I'm learning that boundaries are not only a positive for me but sometimes the most loving thing I can do!Boundaries, I've learned are really not about keeping others out as much as its about keeping myself in. My sense is that as Christians we have somehow adopted an idea that boundaries are inherently negative or that they are somehow sinful even. We read so many verses about love as it relates to sacrifice, being selfless, being cheerful givers but we skip over verses that teach us to practice discernment when it comes to our personal life.//If you would like to dive deeper into this, or other verses in the Bible, if you have a verse you would like to submit to have included in a future episode if have questions about the Bible that you would like answered in a bonus episode, or simply want to connect with me... text VERSED to 88474 or click hereAlso included in that link is a list of resources and references I use in this podcast and can help you grow deeper in your faith as well. As always – ratings and reviews are massive! Why do you read the Bible? Some read it for help or intellectual stimulation, to understand God, seeking answers to life's questions or maybe to read it like a novel and discover the story about Jesus. One thing that's true is that we are told and encouraged to read it more. That's incredibly intimidating and can be overwhelming in the midst of everything else we have going on. What do we do when we are overwhelmed? Nothing. The Bible may not answer all of our questions but it does give us direction about who God is, how to live with purpose, how to treat others, how to receive eternal life. There are incredible truths that are more than mere information, stimulating education or just a great story. In today's verse from Hebrews, we explore how God's Word can help us.If you would like to dive deeper into this, or other verses in the Bible, if you have a verse you would like to submit to have included in a future episode if have questions about the Bible that you would like answered in a bonus episode, or simply want to connect with me click hereAlso included in that link is a list of resources and references I use in this podcast and can help you grow deeper in your faith as well. As always – ratings and reviews are massive! There is a reason the self-help industry rakes in billions of dollars. We are actually pretty self-aware. We KNOW we are broken, we KNOW there is something missing, we KNOW we fail to measure up. There is aching of “not enough” inside of us and we want to do whatever we can to  become the “best version of ourselves.” - as fast as we can - with as minimal effort as possible. We are wired to desire transformation - that's good! But we go off course in WHERE we look for help, healing, and this wholeness. We get frustrated that God isn't working on our timetable. We get frustrated that we continue to sin and become self-centered. Whenever I hear someone say, “We need to just love people like Jesus did,” I get kind of annoyed. Not because I'm against that idea, but because generally, it's used as sentiment and one that is un-Biblical... almost like it's used to avoid hard issues. "We should just love people like Jesus did" usually means "be nice and don't be controversial." The real Jesus we meet in the Gospels loved people in a much better, deeper, richer, and much more controversial and confrontational way.
