Instead of this week's regular Conduit Street Podcast, we're bringing you a bonus episode of The Briefing Room in response to a high-interest topic from our recent energy series.Data centers quickly became one of the most popular topics in our energy series, so Dom Butchko and Kevin Kinnally sat down with Kelly Schulz, CEO of the Maryland Tech Council, to take a deeper look at one of Maryland's most complex policy conversations.Together, they separate fact from fiction on issues ranging from electricity demand and water use to tax revenue, economic development, local land-use authority, community concerns, and Maryland's competitive position in the growing data center economy. The discussion also explores why counties are increasingly weighing the opportunities (and tradeoffs) of attracting this emerging industry.Whether you've been following the debate closely or are just starting to learn about it, this special edition offers practical context for one of the state's biggest policy issues.Tune in to find out what's fact...and what's fiction.Follow us on Socials!MACo on TwitterMACo on Facebook
Hi Divas! You've been asking for many MANY moons for this ep so here we go. Today we're deep diving into the life and lies of Anne Boleyn! Second wife of Henry VIII, mother of Elizabeth I and known throughout time as 'the great whore,' Anne's story is full of reformist ideas, bold declarations of love, the pressure of an heir and ultimately, tragedy, as she looses her life under the dynastic demands of Tudor England. I think you'll love this one guys, and I'm keen as always to hear your thoughts!Shout out to our incredible researcher Grace McCamish and producer Jamie Rose for their work pulling this together, and if you're wanting more Hot History you can follow along on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube and of course, right here!Til next week, Ainslie x
Send us Fan MailMindy Kaling's new sitcom "Not Suitable for Work" just dropped, and we have thoughts. We are two Wall Street veterans breaking down everything the show gets right — and wrong — about what it actually looks like to show up as a first-year analyst at a bulge bracket investment bank, navigate office politics (and romance!), and try to build a life in New York City on a salary that sounds impressive until you see the rent. But this episode goes way beyond the finance. We're digging into the bigger questions the show raises: Is the Gen Z "lazy" narrative fair, or are young people today actually working harder than any generation before them for a fraction of the opportunity? What does the clash between generations reveal about the tension between hustle culture and the new workplace? And when a show in 2025 depicts five young people meeting, dating, and falling for each other entirely without apps, is that wish fulfillment or an active campaign for something we've lost? We're also getting into the male-female dynamics, the nepo baby problem, the intergenerational clash between millennials and Gen Z, and what it means that the most cutthroat character in the entire friend group is a woman. Plus — what does it say that the show's most pointed commentary on AI lands not in the banking storyline, but through a struggling med-student-turned-actor being asked to dig the grave of his own profession? We LOVE reviewing books, movies, tv shows, and everything in pop culture from a finance aspect --- send us your ideas for what you want us to review next!Shop our Self Paced Courses:Investment Banking & Private Equity Fundamentals HEREFixed Income Sales & Trading HERESubscribe to our Substack: https://substack.com/@thewallstreetskinny
More than ever, we need minimum federal standards like the SAVE Act passed. California's current elections might be free and fair, but without transparency in the process, and with third world ranking integrity measures in place – there's statistically a greater possibility that Haiti's next elections will be more trustworthy.
I know there are a lot of fertility myths out there, and some can be downright perplexing if you're trying to do everything you can to have a successful pregnancy. And, when you've been a fertility doctor for a while, let me tell you, you will hear it all. So in this episode, I'm tackling TWENTY of the most common fertility myths in a little thing I like to call "Fertility: Fact or Fiction." I love talking about these types of things because once you know the truth, you also have a better idea of what may be happening in your own body. I think most people now realize that sperm does in fact matter when you're TTC. But, do you need both of your fallopian tubes? Is marijuana safe when you're TTC? Can someone born without a uterus have a uterine transplant? Is an ovarian cyst something to be concerned about? Of course, these questions matter, and I want everyone to feel comfortable asking their doctor about them (and for answers to the above: no, no, yes, no). Do you have questions about IVF, and what to expect? Click here to join Dr. Aimee for The IVF Class. The next live class call is on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 4pm PST, where Dr. Aimee will explain IVF and there will be time to ask her your questions live on Zoom. Did MK Ultra actually accomplish anything impressive in brainwashing- and mind-control-related areas? Did the US government, as some people claim, create "Manchurian candidates," who would kill on command? In this episode, I talk with Stephen Kinzer, author of “Poisoner in Chief,” a book about the head of MK Ultra, Sidney Gottlieb. We discuss the strange, disturbing reality of MK Ultra—and the many exaggerations made about it over the years. While pop culture and deceptive gurus (like Chase Hughes) spread tales of the program achieving amazing and scary psychological control, Kinzer describes a disorganized and amateurish series of experiments that harmed many people but failed to demonstrate anything impressive. We explore why MK Ultra has become a perfect canvas for all sorts of paranoid ideas and wild speculations, and why the lack of evidence of anything approaching actual mind control hasn't stopped people from confidently claiming otherwise. If you've ever wondered what's real—and what's myth—about MK Ultra, you'll probably appreciate this talk.Topics discussed: the myths versus the realities of the MK Ultra program; what makes MK Ultra such a perfect case for people to imagine and believe all sorts of things; what Operation Mockingbird was and its relation to MK Ultra; the hypnotist George Estabrooks and his wild claims of mind control; the idea that Sirhan Sirhan was brainwashed to kill RFK; the likelihood of large plots succeeding in the modern age; the more realistic and banal ways that governments try to “control people's minds” by persuading and shifting opinions in the modern age; and more. The Epstein case is one of the most notorious in recent American history. Democrats thought it would be slam dunk in pointing to President Trump and his involvement. Turns out, more Democrats are getting caught up in the Epstein files as the information continues to get released. Jessica Reed Kraus, the brilliant mind behind mega successful substack House In Habit has thoroughly documented the Epstein case. Kraus was present during the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell and came to a very different conclusion than the mainstream media narrative. The Epstein timeline is messy and the facts surrounding the case are even messier. One truth the media refuses to tell is how some of the Epstein 'victims' were actually the ones grooming young women. The Epstein Victims Fund has also been allegedly taken advantage of in the way funds are allocated. One thing that is conclusive is that Alan Dershowitz was innocent and had the receipts to prove it. You don't want to miss this fascinating conversation on Epstein that the media simply won't tell you. Jessica has been team Bobby Kennedy from day one and is here to update us on MAHA. The real Pirates of the Caribbean were far more complex—and sometimes more brutal—than the swashbuckling legends in movies. From the late 1600s to the early 1700s, this region was a hotspot for piracy, where sailors turned outlaw raided ships for gold, goods, and freedom. Figures like Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and Calico Jack were real people who navigated a dangerous world shaped by colonial powers, naval warfare, and trade routes. This episode separates fact from fiction, exploring the economic, political, and social realities of piracy in the Caribbean.

The host addresses a trending online conspiracy theory claiming that Donald Trump has died, explaining its origins and why it gained traction among some on the left. While dismissing the death rumors as baseless, the host acknowledges a legitimate medical concern: the former president's demanding schedule and visible signs of physical strain, such as swollen ankles. Send us a textSkyrocketing in popularity over the last five years, intermittent fasting has positioned itself as the diet trend du jour. But beyond the simple concept of timing your meals within specific windows, does this approach deliver on its promises? This deep dive explores what research actually tells us about intermittent fasting versus traditional calorie restriction. Spoiler alert: when calories are equal, the results are identical. We tackle common misconceptions about metabolism slowing, optimal protein timing, and who should think twice before jumping on the fasting bandwagon. The protein puzzle proves particularly interesting – your body can only use about 30-40 grams of protein for muscle synthesis at once, no matter how much you consume in a sitting. This creates a fundamental conflict with many fasting protocols that limit eating windows. For those seeking muscle gain or retention (which should be everyone looking for sustainable weight management), spreading protein intake across 3-4 daily meals provides significantly better results than cramming it all into one or two meals.Women face unique challenges with intermittent fasting, as it can wreak havoc on hormonal balance, especially during menopause. Meanwhile, those with eating disorder histories might find fasting provides a socially acceptable mask for unhealthy behaviors. But it's not all negative – people struggling with insulin resistance or lacking structure around nighttime eating might benefit from strategic meal timing.Whether you're currently fasting, considering it, or skeptical about the whole concept, this evidence-based breakdown helps you make informed decisions about your nutrition approach. Share this episode with friends contemplating intermittent fasting – because fitness truly is medicine, but only when applied correctly.Support the showLearn More at: www.Redefine-Fitness.com

Read the full show notes: https://www.draimee.org/when-it-comes-to-your-fertility-what-is-fact-vs-fiction I know there are a lot of fertility myths out there, and some can be downright perplexing if you're trying to do everything you can to have a successful pregnancy. And, when you've been a fertility doctor for a while, let me tell you, you will hear it all. So in this episode, I'm tackling TWENTY of the most common fertility myths in a little thing I like to call “Fertility: Fact or Fiction.” I love talking about these types of things because once you know the truth, you also have a better idea of what may be happening in your own body. Dr. Keith Baar is a Professor at the University of California, Davis in the Department of Physiology and Membrane Biology. During his Ph.D. studies, his research revealed that mechanical strain on muscle fibers activates the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway, a crucial regulator of muscular hypertrophy. Subsequently, he studied the molecular dynamics of skeletal muscle adaptation to endurance training under the guidance of Dr. John Holloszy, a legend in the field of exercise physiology, considered the father of modern exercise biochemistry. Building on all of this experience, he conducted research into tendon health and the potential for engineering ligaments, which could have implications for treatment and recovery from injuries.Sponsors:Cresset prestigious family office for CEOs, founders, and entrepreneurs: https://cressetcapital.com/tim (book a call today)AG1 all-in-one nutritional supplement: https://DrinkAG1.com/Tim (1-year supply of Vitamin D (and 5 free AG1 travel packs) with your first subscription purchase.)Shopify global commerce platform, providing tools to start, grow, market, and manage a retail business: https://shopify.com/tim (one-dollar-per-month trial period)*Links to everything discussed: https://tim.blog/2025/02/26/dr-keith-baar/Timestamps:[00:00:00] Start [00:07:12] How I discovered Keith's work through a tweet about tennis elbow and rock climbing.[00:07:54] Emil Abrahamsson's hangboard training protocol.[00:09:20] The fundamental principles of strength training and connective tissue adaptation.[00:10:36] mTOR complex 1 and its role in muscle growth.[00:12:06] Engineered ligaments and the discovery of minimal effective doses for tendon adaptation.[00:13:50] The refractory period between optimal tendon loading sessions.[00:16:42] Rapamycin's effects on muscle hypertrophy.[00:18:49] Protocols for tennis elbow rehabilitation.[00:20:28] Why isometrics work better than eccentrics for tendon healing.[00:22:14] Stress shielding and how load distribution affects tendon healing.[00:29:07] The misconception about eccentric loading for tendon injuries and why velocity matters.[00:29:58] Ideal duration for isometric holds (10-30 seconds) based on injury status.[00:33:50] My elbow issues and current rehab approach.[00:36:02] Overcoming vs. yielding isometrics and optimal loading strategies.[00:47:11] Dr. Barr's movement prescription for my tennis elbow.[00:52:18] Loading timing post-surgery and RICE protocol criticism.[00:56:58] Achilles tendon rehabilitation after surgery.[01:00:18] Critique of orthopedic suturing techniques and recommendation for resorbable sutures.[01:04:02] Multiple position isometrics for tennis elbow rehabilitation.[01:07:26] Collagen synthesis, supplementation, and vitamin C timing.[01:12:59] Critique of BPC-157 and other injectable peptides for tendon healing.[01:18:19] Evaluation of orthobiologics' (PRP, prolotherapy, stem cells) effectiveness.[01:21:37] JAK-STAT inhibitor drugs and their effects on tendon growth.[01:25:35] Drugs that increase risk of tendon ruptures (fluoroquinolones, AT-1 receptor drugs).[01:29:33] How estrogen affects tendon stiffness and injury risk in women.[01:32:48] Testosterone's opposite effects on tendon compared to estrogen.[01:35:31] Protein intake recommendations and timing.[01:40:11] Ketogenic diet effects on mitochondrial biogenesis and longevity.[01:41:57] Comparison of ketogenic diet, low protein diet, and rapamycin for longevity.[01:47:19] Inflammation's role in adaptation and when to reduce it.[01:51:17] Timing of ice baths relative to training for optimal recovery.[01:52:33] Parting thoughts.*For show notes and past guests on The Tim Ferriss Show, please visit tim.blog/podcast.For deals from sponsors of The Tim Ferriss Show, please visit tim.blog/podcast-sponsorsSign up for Tim's email newsletter (5-Bullet Friday) at tim.blog/friday.For transcripts of episodes, go to tim.blog/transcripts.Discover Tim's books: tim.blog/books.Follow Tim:Twitter: twitter.com/tferriss Instagram: instagram.com/timferrissYouTube: youtube.com/timferrissFacebook: facebook.com/timferriss LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/timferrissPast guests on The Tim Ferriss Show include Jerry Seinfeld, Hugh Jackman, Dr. Jane Goodall, LeBron James, Kevin Hart, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Jamie Foxx, Matthew McConaughey, Esther Perel, Elizabeth Gilbert, Terry Crews, Sia, Yuval Noah Harari, Malcolm Gladwell, Madeleine Albright, Cheryl Strayed, Jim Collins, Mary Karr, Maria Popova, Sam Harris, Michael Phelps, Bob Iger, Edward Norton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Neil Strauss, Ken Burns, Maria Sharapova, Marc Andreessen, Neil Gaiman, Neil de Grasse Tyson, Jocko Willink, Daniel Ek, Kelly Slater, Dr. Peter Attia, Seth Godin, Howard Marks, Dr. Brené Brown, Eric Schmidt, Michael Lewis, Joe Gebbia, Michael Pollan, Dr. Jordan Peterson, Vince Vaughn, Brian Koppelman, Ramit Sethi, Dax Shepard, Tony Robbins, Jim Dethmer, Dan Harris, Ray Dalio, Naval Ravikant, Vitalik Buterin, Elizabeth Lesser, Amanda Palmer, Katie Haun, Sir Richard Branson, Chuck Palahniuk, Arianna Huffington, Reid Hoffman, Bill Burr, Whitney Cummings, Rick Rubin, Dr. Vivek Murthy, Darren Aronofsky, Margaret Atwood, Mark Zuckerberg, Peter Thiel, Dr. Gabor Maté, Anne Lamott, Sarah Silverman, Dr. Andrew Huberman, and many more.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Fluoridating the public water supply has been common practice for nearly 80 years in the U.S. It's an acclaimed public health intervention that helps prevent cavities. For just as long, some have raised concerns about the practice that can veer from evidence-based to unsubstantiated conspiracy. An analysis by government researchers, published Monday in JAMA Pediatrics, is adding to the debate. The research found that exposing babies and kids to high levels of fluoride might be associated with neurodevelopmental harm. Frankly, it's a lot to digest — so we invited health correspondent Pien Huang onto the show to wade through the debate.Questions, story ideas or want us to dig into another public health debate?
