3/25/24 From losing track of days while playing cards at the infamous Ding Ho comedy club in the early 80s to being the FIRST comedian to perform at Fenway Park (opening for pal Bill Burr in 2023), comedian and actor Tony V has been a Boston Legend for over 40 years. TOMORROW March 25, 2024 at The City Winery in Boston as part of The Boston Comedy Festival, Tony will be getting his Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing all he has done and means to the City of Boston. If there was a fantasy draft of all the comic greats to come out of Boston, Tony is a first- round pick on everyone's cards. Joe and Jacques saw Tony V and his pal Bobcat at Off Cabot a couple weeks ago and it might have been funniest show they've ever seen (and they see lots of shows!) As an actor, Tony's been in features such as The Town (produced by former CP guest Bill Fay and it premiered also at Fenway) to his BFF's Misfits and Monsters (in which Tony had a full body wax and was painted blue as is the law to play King Neptune) – Tony is also a beloved comedy teacher (just ask former guest Lauren Simms)! And yes, Tony is a Boston comic over 40 so there was lots of talk about Dick Bucks and the word “integrity”. Growing up in Lynn, MA Jerry Caruso always had an interest in comedy. Beginning to be funny at the age of 12, he would impersonate different celebrities at the St. Patrick's Elementary School schoolyard. At the age of 24, Jerry placed 3rd in the WVBF “Class Clown” contest out of 100 entrants. After this accomplishment Jerry dove into the world of comedy for a short while by performing at 4 open mic nights at the Ding-Ho in Cambridge. After seeing dwindling support from family and friends Jerry took a brief hiatus. Finally, at 38, Jerry decided to enter the world of comedy by performing at Nick's Comedy Stop in Boston on a dare from his co-workers at Digital Equipment Corporation. His successful debut at Nick's put him back on the road to comedy for good. Since 1993 Jerry has performed for many Boston based comedy groups as well as different comedy shows throughout New England and New York. His unique mix of celebrity impressions, song parodies, and standup comedy has brought laughter to audiences at many different venues. In 1994, he co-founded “Comics for a Cure” with Toney Markus. From there on, Jerry put his God-given talents to good use by organizing and performing at comedy shows for non-profit organizations and local worthy causes. In addition, Caruso taught comedy at 3 community colleges (1999-present), acts for Murder Mystery USA (2001-present), hosts his own talk show called “Happy Hour” on AOTV (2000-present), does motivational speaking to support groups and rotary clubs on “Laughter is the Best Medicine” (2003-present) and does spots on local radio (WPKZ, WLPZ and WVAO). In 2012, Jerry teamed up with best friend/comedy veteran Larry Lee Lewis to form “too old guyz comedy”.
