What the heck with Richard Dweck

John MosesJohn Moses has been delightfully offending audiences throughout the United States, Canada and the U.K. for more than 15 years. In 2017 John was a finalist at the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in Atlanta and is a favorite at festivals all over including; The Boston Comedy Festival; The Asheville Comedy Festival; The Cottage Country Comedy Festival; and the Dark Comedy Festival in Toronto where he roasted Porn Legend Ron Jeremy. John released his debut album On The Edge with Uproar Entertainment in 2012. It was voted one of Laughspin.com's “10 Best Comedy Albums of 2012,” and given their dubious distinction as “The One Album From 2012 You Should Get By A Comedian You Probably Never Heard Of.” It is still in regular rotation on Sirius XM RawDog, The Foxxhole and Canada Laughs. In 2013, he became an immediate favorite on AXS.TV's Gotham Comedy Live and was featured in their special “Best of Season One.” In 2015 he made his second appearance on Gotham Comedy Live and received high praise from the show's host, the iconic Dom Irrera. In 2016 he made his third appearance on the show, it was one of the shows most popular segments in the shows three year run. He released his second album Upper Middle Trash in May of 2016. Raw Dog on SiriusXM named that album one of the best albums of 2016. An equal-opportunity offender, John's comedy transcends racial and cultural barriers—appealing to black, white, and brown audiences, the young and old, upstanding citizens and the morally bankrupt. John's style is shrewd, raw and uncompromisingly funny.

Come see the great Tony V. THIS Friday Sept 13th at The China Blossom in N. Andover MA, where he'll be hosting and headlining night one of CFP's Wicket Funny's 2nd annual “Funniest Person In Merrimac Valley” contest – Jacques (and former CPP guests Wayne Russell from Open Mic Pain Podcast and Lauren Simms) will all be participants in. A lot of great stuff has happened with Tony since being on our podcast in March.  Now, we're not saying ALL of it is a result of being on our podcast but we're not, NOT saying that either.  Hey, the “CPP Bump” as it's known industry wide, has really helped a lot of careers … according to our own research (which is proprietary and we won't be sharing with the class.) Sure, it could be part strategic self-serving scheduling on our part back in March.  It COULD be part coincidence.  And sure, an argument could be made that these things have come about due to a life time of hard work by Tony and him being one of the best comics to ever come out of the greatest city for stand-up comedy ever.  BUT his “Life Time Achievement” award from Jim McCue & The Boston Comedy Festival this year DID happen after being on our podcast.  His ridiculously funny Comedy Dynamics special, “Wait Till You Hear This” did come out on Apple TV, Amazon Prime (and dozens of other places) AFTER he was on CPP.  Tony was also prominently featured on the very cool John Tobin Productions launch video for their “Lil Chucks” comedy club and also, when Jacques was in LA a few weeks ago, Tony did get to co-host with the very talented Gus Vireiros at The Yard Theater in Hollywood an amazing show with Bobcat Goldthwait, again all this happened AFTER having been on CPP ... and now, this Friday's Wicket Funny CFP hosting headlining gig … come on. Hope you can get a ticket for what will be a sold-out show on Friday. After time in a college improv troop, Liam spend a few years in Los Angeles working the comedy scene (where he cross paths with our great friend of ours Sally Mullin's - Sleazy Does It On Amazon Prime) Liam's material is very open, personal and relatable. 3/25/24 From losing track of days while playing cards at the infamous Ding Ho comedy club in the early 80s to being the FIRST comedian to perform at Fenway Park (opening for pal Bill Burr in 2023), comedian and actor Tony V has been a Boston Legend for over 40 years. TOMORROW March 25, 2024 at The City Winery in Boston as part of The Boston Comedy Festival, Tony will be getting his Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing all he has done and means to the City of Boston. If there was a fantasy draft of all the comic greats to come out of Boston, Tony is a first- round pick on everyone's cards. Joe and Jacques saw Tony V and his pal Bobcat at Off Cabot a couple weeks ago and it might have been funniest show they've ever seen (and they see lots of shows!) As an actor, Tony's been in features such as The Town (produced by former CP guest Bill Fay and it premiered also at Fenway) to his BFF's Misfits and Monsters (in which Tony had a full body wax and was painted blue as is the law to play King Neptune) – Tony is also a beloved comedy teacher (just ask former guest Lauren Simms)! And yes, Tony is a Boston comic over 40 so there was lots of talk about Dick Bucks and the word “integrity”. I'm at a TED event when Sarah Silverman takes the stage. She launches into her comedy set and as she gets going, I notice something interesting. A couple of jokes in, some people in the audience are already laughing hysterically. But others are fidgeting and looking uncomfortable with some of her content. My husband Mark turns to me and says, “Stand-up comedy is hard.” I agree and whisper back, “Yeah - that's why they invented Dad jokes. That's much easier - they're like training wheels for laughter.” Stand-up on the other hand is another league and I'd rather leave to the professionals - like my special guest today. Emily Walsh is a stand-up comedian who performs all over the world. And today on the Storytelling School Podcast, she shares how the worlds of comedy and story intertwine from her perspective. In this episode, you'll hear about approaches to comedy shows and being a different version of yourself on stage (even if just slightly), as well as hear answers to questions such as: How do you navigate the challenging waters of potentially offensive jokes to your audience? What role does story play in comedic content creation? How can you ease people into your jokes and get them comfortable with you as you tell your story? And what's the one thing you don't want to leave your audience with? What you will learn in this episode: What the first thing is that you must learn in any performance or presentation How to discover the kind of material that will work for your audience most of the time What you can do to re-engage a disengaged part of your audience Who is Emily? Emily Walsh is a comedian who performs nightly in bars and comedy clubs across New York City. Originally from Boston, Emily moved to New York City after college to pursue her dream of painting scenery for theatre, film and television. She still paints sometimes because comedy doesn't provide health insurance. Emily was recently featured on Kevin Hart's Lyft Comics on Peacock. Her festival credits include HBO's Women in Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, West End Festival in Atlanta, Boston Comedy Festival, the Out of Bounds Festival in Austin, and the Rogue Island Comedy Festival in Newport, Rhode Island.
