Musikfest 2024! Our fav 10 days of the year are back and we return to providing daily guidance on what bands to see each day along with bringing on a guest or two. Thank you so much to Godfrey Daniels for letting us set-up for these special 10 days to use as homebase for these livestreams. In this episode, a bunch of Hoookers stop by! Blair Crimmins is very much to blame for our show even becoming a thing. About 3 years ago, before I even had any interviews under my belt, I asked him if he'd be willing to come on for an interview and, without hesitation, said "yes". So he became interview #1.2 years ago we brought on the rest of the band, and so we will do that again this year, however this time we'll spend some time "gettin nerdy" about their instruments and how they achieve that sound that immediately whisks you off to another time and place.Come join the fun and be a Hooker too!Text us your thoughts on this episode, and who should be OUR #NextFavBand...As always, our hope is to bring you "your next favorite band". If you tuned in today because you already knew this musician - thank you very much! We hope that you enjoyed it and would consider following us and subscribing so we can bring you your #nextfavband in the future. And check out nextfavband.com for our entire catalog of interviews! If you have a recommendation on who you think OUR next favorite band should be, hit us up on social media (@nextfavband everywhere) or send us an email at nextfavband@stereophiliastudio.com.Thank you to Carver Commodore, argonaut&wasp, and Blair Crimmins for allowing us to use their music in the show open and close. Since 2000, the United States Global Change Research Program has periodically published a report on its assessment of the climate crisis, its current impacts, its potential threats, and the solutions available to mitigate the worst impacts and adapt as quickly as possible. Last week, the interagency program published the Fifth National Climate Assessment. Despite accounting for just 4% of the world's population, as a result of burning fossil fuels for more than a century, the US is responsible for approximately 17% of the global warming the planet is facing today. And while US emissions are falling, they're not falling fast enough to meet the 2050 Net Zero target established by the Biden Administration. The report explores the health, economic, environmental, and social impacts of the climate crisis that Americans are experiencing now and it clearly states that all of those will get worse if America and the world doesn't start cutting greenhouse gas emissions immediately. Allison Crimmins, the Director of the Fifth National Climate Assessment, joins the show to discuss the report's main findings, the extraordinary costs of the climate crisis that Americans are already facing, and the positive benefits that could be achieved today as soon as we start deploying sufficient mitigation and adaptation strategies.
