In the final chapter of “The School Board Queen” we dig in with Bridget Ziegler. Her opponents have called her names – transphobic and racist. But she says she'll take “the arrows of being called whatever” for what she believes in. She's a champion of the Florida Parental Rights in Education Act – that's the so-called Don't Say Gay bill, which critics call unsupportive of the LGBTQ community. We want to know what it's like to be a student living with the bill, and we spend time with a trans teenager, an eleventh grader, who surprises us with their clear-eyed perspective. “The School Board Queen” is reported, produced and hosted by Kathleen Quillian and Samantha Storey. This past spring, Florida made headlines for its Parental Rights in Education Act, informally referred to as the Don't Say Gay bill. While this legislation is disturbing, Florida is not the first state to implement such a bill. In fact, approximately 20 other states implemented similar Don't Say Gay bills between January and April 2022.In this episode, we're taking a look at what the Florida Parental Rights in Education Act entails, the history of similar legislation, and how we can take action.Additional Resources:Dennis BaxleyFlorida's Governor Signs Controversial Law Opponents Dubbed 'Don't Say Gay'LGBTQ Groups Sue Florida Over the So-Called 'Don't Say Gay' LawAfter Protests, Disney CEO Speaks Out Against Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' BillNew CDC Data Shows LGBTQ Youth are More Likely to be Bullied Than Straight Cisgender Youth2022 National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental HealthA Florida Legislator Withdrew His Amendment to the 'Don't Say Gay' Bill that Would Require School Districts to Out Students Within 6 WeeksAs Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' Law Takes Effect, Schools Roll Out LGBTQ RestrictionsAnother LGBTQ Resource Disappears in Duval SchoolsBanned in the USA: Rising School Book Bans Threaten Free Expression and Students' First Amendment RightsIn Some States, Versions of ‘Don't Say Gay' Bills Have Been Around for AwhileLGBTQ Affairs Commission, Stakeholders Denounce Legislation to Bring Discriminatory “Don't Say Gay” Bill to PABusiness Statement on Anti-LGBTQ State LegislationInterest Form to Sign On to the National Business Statement on Anti-LGBTQ+ State LegislationHolistic Life NavigationThis podcast explores how to heal stress & trauma holistically. Elon Musk made headlines this week when it was announced he struck a deal with Twitter to buy the company for roughly $44 billion. While many are celebrating the acquisition as a win for free speech, others are concerned that Musk's ownership of the platform could lead to an increase of hate speech and misinformation in a realm that's difficult to regulate. Howard Kurtz, host of Media Buzz on the FOX News Channel and the Media Buzz Meter podcast, joins the Rundown to discuss what Musk's purchase of Twitter could mean for the future of the platform, Musk's reputation regarding free speech, and how the Left wants Big Tech to be held accountable. The Supreme Court heard arguments on Monday in the Kennedy v. Bremerton School District case, debating free speech and religious liberties after a high school football coach was rebuked for praying midfield after each game. In their oral arguments, conservative and liberal justices on the court were split on how this instance related to the First Amendment, religious expression and separation of church and state. Former Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos joins the podcast to break down why she believes this coach will find justice in the Supreme Court, why his firing constitutes a violation of a constitutional right to individual expression of religion, and she weighs in on what she calls the “deceptive characterization” of the Florida Parental Rights law. On this Heard Tell Good Talks, our guest Benjamin Ayanian joins to discuss the continuing fall out over the Florida law that has caused so much controversy, what is and isn't in the text, and the sequence of events that lead to yet another outcry and crisis over schools. We talk about how the legislation once again raises issues of who has say over classrooms and curriculum, and the broken partnership between parents, teachers, schools, and students. Benjamin also discusses how Disney has found themselves as the flashpoint for the controversy, and how there's more going on to the fight between Florida, the public, and the House of Mouse than meets the eye.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/heard-tell/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
James had an idea for a segment where one of us goes off on a diatribe called a "Slow Clap Rant". We hadn't had one until today's episode where Todd unexpectedly unleashes a wonderful flurry of righteous anger and is rewarded with a redeeming slow clap. Kenny loses some "man points" in Todd's eyes and it's evident when it happens. Almost sad, really. We play several videos from insane "educators" who think it's fine to introduce a false gender ideology to young children. What's in these videos is what the Florida Parental Rights in Education bill is trying to prevent. Full Hour | Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by discussing Biden's speech today concerning the Transgender Day of Visibility, with Dom taking umbrage with the way the administration is trying to frame the issue of transgenderism, as bills across the country look to protect Title IX for women's athletes. Giordano explains why the continued reliance on identity politics to govern lead us down a dark path, telling of the negativity such reliance brings into society. Then, Giordano plays back a clip from an interview between CNN's Chris Wallace and Disney's Bob Iger, with Iger suggesting that the company thinks it's doing the right thing in standing against Florida's parent rights bill, with Giordano asking if that's the truth, why does this not apply to China, too. Then, Dr. Mehmet Oz, candidate for the United States Senate in Pennsylvania, rejoins the Dom Giordano Program to offer his thoughts and make some clarifications after a Senate candidate forum held earlier this week that turned fiery. First, Giordano ask Dr. Oz why the moderator refused to call him a doctor, instead referring him to ‘Mr. Oz' throughout the debate. Then, Giordano leans into Dr. Oz a bit, asking him for clarification on his stance on fracking after sparks flew when candidate Dave McCormick brought up past articles written by Oz focusing on the danger of fracking to the water system. Then, Giordano asks Oz about relationships he's held with prominent liberals including Oprah Winfrey, with Dr. Oz making the point that people can remain friends while disagreeing politically, which Giordano agrees with. Also, Oz tells whether he is open to future debates against candidates and tells whether he'd face off with McCormick live on the Dom Giordano Program. Info Regarding the National Z-Call on February 24Sex Change Transitioning for MinorsTransgender ideology is not just infecting our laws, but intruding into the lives of the most innocent among us—children—with the apparent growing support of the professional medical and education communities."All of us should demand a halt to the medical transition of minors until rigorous non-agenda-driven, long-term research is completed." Dr. Michelle Cretella, executive director of the American College of PediatriciansSex change transitioning for minors is the new popular “thing,” now promoted in schools beginning in Kindergarten, promoting risky medical procedures for minors often without parental involvement. The Federal Drug Administration has not approved pediatric hormone blocking, a relatively new practice, first introduced in the United States in 2007. Even though giving cross-sex hormones, like estrogen to a boy is also not FDA-approved, these so-called hormone treatments are now offered in Planned Parenthood clinics.Celebrations of grade school student transitioning, like the third grader in West Linn, Oregon are becoming common. If the parent chooses, soon this 8-year old boy will be given hormone blockers to avoid going through natural puberty to become a man. The treatment is irreversible. In his book, When Harry Became Sally, Ryan Anderson shares the results of a study examining the risk of suicide among transgender teens, confirming they attempt suicide more frequently than adolescents, generally. The study assumes the unproven belief that all gender identities are equally healthy and fixed in all children and teens. This is an ideological premise touted by professional medical and psychiatric guilds, not scientific fact. Evidence suggests that sex reassignment surgery does not improve rates of attempted suicide. The study also offers no proof that these radical therapies…will prevent adolescents from attempting suicide. The result of this will be scores more children needlessly sterilized, placed on toxic cross-sex hormones, and maimed by mutilating surgeries as early as age 13,—none of which have been proven to prevent suicide in the long term. There is no medical path to achieve REAL gender change. It is scientific fact individuals are born with permanent DNA in every cell of their body, either male or female. Biological-birth sex, even with surgical alteration of body parts, and opposite-gender hormone treatment, is unchangeable. There is another possible explanation for the high suicide rates that has received little attention. As Ray Blanchard and J. Michael Bailey, two LGBT affirming psychologists, have pointed out, it is quite possible that underlying traumas, mental health, and personality issues combine to cause both gender dysphoria and suicidality in vulnerable youth. There is reason to suspSupport the show (https://www.parentsrightsined.com/support-the-cause.html)
