Join us today on a lovely episode of Hail to the Keith where Keithie talks about the events of February 14th, 1929. That's right, you see, the gangland murders of The North Side Gang, you hear and just what did Al Capone or Bugs Maron have to do with it. We take a look at the incident, the investigation and what happens to the bosses of the two crime families involved, plus some of the hits from 1929 thrown in. Give your sweetheart a little Tommy Gun love and play it for again, kiddo.
Greetings All You Young Jazz Lovers, February 14th in the USA is officially Valentines Day, a day created by a small entrepenuer ages ago to... well, quite frankly sell more product. The origins seem to begin around 1850 in Massachusetts with a woman regarded as the mother of the American valentine - Esther Howland, the daughter of a stationer. She started making small Valentine cards made of layers of lace with printed images on them. She hired a bunch of local girls to create them at home in her parlor and sent them out with her brothers who were traveling salesmen and thus the Valentines Day card industry and eventual holiday, as we now know it was born. Over the years consumers were told by the card makers that today is THE day to express your deepest romantic notions to that special someone. Oh, and by the way these same greeting card companies just happened to have the perfect sentiment printed on a card, just in case you are at a loss for words to offer to your love interest. Neat, huh? Pretty soon candy makers and florists were in on the bit and quicker than a stolen kiss an industry was born. "Love for sale, appetizing young love for sale." Now of course all young jazz lovers know TRUE LOVE cannot be bought nor sold, but there's no reason you should miss out on all the fun! So, with that in mind I offer (at no charge) my specially curated romantic Jazz filled soundtrack to compliment your romantic rendezvous for two. You'll have to supply the wine and candles. Love ya, mean it! - Brian "Katzpheno" Phoenix featuring: Sting - I Burn For You (2010) Ahn Trio - My Funny Valentine (2008) Eliane Elias - Sabia (1990) Angela Bofill - Song For A Rainy Day (1983) Kenny Garrett - Lullaby Of Isfahan (1990) Duke Ellington & John Coltrane - In A Sentimental Mood (1962) Nneena Freelon - Inside A Silent Tear (1998) Bobby Watson & Horizon - P.D. On Great Jones Street (1990) Herbie Hancock - Norweigan Wood (1995) Michael Henderson - Stay With Me This Summer (1976) The Guilherme-Campos-Monteiro Quintet - One Cloud (1999) Joshua Redman - Twilight...and Beyond (2000)
Today's story is all about Valentines day. Aww! Except, the thing is, it's not 'aww-inducing,' it's not mushy and lovey-dovey, because it's all about Alan's Auntie Val, who's completely allergic to romance! For her Valentine's Day is the worst day of the year - she's itchy, and sneezy, and surrounded by all of that disgusting, sickly LOVE! How inconvenient. Let's see how she survives this year... What if your figure is less than Greek? What if your mouth is a little weak? Would you embrace these perceived imperfections, or would you attempt a change? Graffio, our guest for today's episode, implores us to see ourselves as works of art, each uniquely beautiful. As he croons "stay a bit of Valentine, stay," he reminds us that every day is Valentine's Day and that we should remain just as we are. Happy Full House Friday Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I'm covering the last episode in the Joey's Ladies Series, Full House S7E16: Joey's Funny Valentine, which aired on January 25, 1994. In this episode Joey thinks he has found his dream girl, comic Roxy Martin, but she turns out to be a nightmare. Honestly, this synopsis is only half right. Yes, Joey meets a female comedian, calling her a nightmare is a bit harsh. She's a sweet lady, it's just that her level of comedy is different than Joey's, while Joey likes to do impressions of characters and situations, Roxie roasts people, which to me feels like an insensitive form of comedy (pointing out someone's faults or flaws and what you don't like about them) and when Joey invites the family out to see Roxie's performance, they are immediately taken aback when she includes them in her act. Joey sees the family didn't care for her roasting of them, but then Joey gets defensive, saying "you not liking her act is the same thing as saying you don't like her as a person, is that what you're saying?" This side of Joey aggravates me, he didn't give them a heads up to her kind of comedy and that she was including them in her act, he totally ambushed them. Luckily for them, the family sees Roxie in a whole new light after sitting down to dinner and they welcome her into the fold. Roxie is the only one of Joey's Ladies that makes a second appearance on the show. We also have a side plot with a beautiful parrot called Little Sid, that is used as a sidekick for Big Sid's Electronic Store. He's so overjoyed at the return of his bird that he lets the girls pick anything from his catalog for absolutely FREE! Steph wants a Karaoke Machine (Dumb), DJ wants a BIG Screen TV (makes sense), which is funny because you know once all the flat screen TVs come on the market, that Standard Definition BIG SCREEN TV is going to a Goodwill. Danny leaves it up to Michelle (massive eyeroll) she gets the dumbest thing that she probably could have gotten for free, a cardboard standee of BIG Sid and LITTLE Sid. I hope you all enjoyed the Podcast Episode and I'll be back in MARCH for a New Series of Episodes! To EMAIL The PODCAST GO TO: omhcfhfhpodcast@gmail.com

Happy Full House (Almost) Friday Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I covered the next episode in the Joey's Ladies Series, Full House S3E12: Joey & Stacy and... Oh, Yeah, Jesse, which aired on December 15, 1989. (The last episode of the 80's Decade, Everyone). In this episode Comet, the puppy, is an undisciplined chewer, and Jesse bosses around with Joey, who fascinates a background singer to a commercial. I really enjoyed this episode, we got to see puppy Comet, sooo adorable. The bad news is since this is the family's first puppy, they don't understand that he has a destructive side (chewing anything and everything that's left on the floor that he can get his paws on). Puppyhood, I hear can last anywhere from (0-24 Months). At least Danny does enroll Comet later on in obedience training. So, let's go to the third wheel effect with Joey, Stacy and Jesse, the two lovebirds meet when Stacy and Cindi arrive as backup singers for a Permateeth (denturecream) radio ad that the guys are working on. Stacy, we learn is a fan of Joey's comedy, she tells him she's seen his show and finds him hysterical. Cindi introduces herself and tells Joey, I've never heard of you. Stacy gets Joey to do his Roseanne Barr impression. Funny, since the show Roseanne was also on the ABC Network. Joey's got great ideas for this Permateeth radio commercial which include comedy bits, sadly, he has become the silent partner of J & J creative Services since Jesse shuts down all his ideas in reference to putting a comedic spin on the radio ad. Jesse continues to get bossy with Joey (as is the Jesse way) included telling Joey that he and Stacy are going to go bowling with him and Becky (since when does Jesse bowl). I would have loved the Tanners forming a bowling team and taking on the Gibblers. That would be fun to watch. Stacy doesn't like Jesse's dominating behavior over Joey and tells Joey to be more assertive and stand up for himself and his ideas. I really like Stacy and feel she is good for Joey, she lifts up his confidence and supports his ideas. She's the perfect cheerleader for him. Long story short, he takes Stacy's advice and uses his comedic idea as a back up plan when Jesse's Senior Citizen Idea crashes and burns with the Ad Exec Clients. Joey's idea is gold and wins over the clients. Jesse can't stand that Joey's idea was better and leaves him standing in the dust, feeling backstabbed. Joey points out it's good to have a second idea in case it's not what the clients want. Jesse even insults Stacy by calling out Yoko Uno. Jesse is such a jerk for most of this episode. In the end Jesse hears Joey out and agrees he was being selfish and he should listen more because Joey has great ideas. Let's get back to Comet, he crosses a line when he goes after Mr. Bear who was just left on the floor and Comet takes advantage to chew on him with his baby puppy teeth(which are probably sharp like needles). He doesn't know the different between treasured family heirloom and a chew toy. Stephanie finds Mr. Bear who's now in need of some assistance due to loss of stuffing. DJ swoops in and takes care of the patient along with Michelle dressed as an adorable nurse. Although not before Stephanie in a fit of anger tells her Dad, I have no dog! After he tells her having a dog means taking care of things that are precious to you and to keep those things out of reach of puppy jaws. Tune in next week when I close out the Joey's Ladies Series with Full House S7E16: Joey's Funny Valentine, which aired on January 25, 1994. In this episode Joey thinks he has found his dream girl, comic Roxy Martin, but she turns out to be a nightmare. I hope you enjoy the episode and have a great weekend! Family Theater was a dramatic anthology radio show which aired on the Mutual Broadcasting System in the United States from February 13, 1947, to September 11, 1957. The show was produced by Family Theater Productions, a film and radio studio extension of the Family Rosary Crusade founded by the Holy Cross Priest, Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, to promote family prayer. The motto of these Holy Cross Family Ministries is, "The family that prays together, stays together." The program had no commercial sponsor, yet Father Peyton, CSC arranged for many of Hollywood's stars in film and radio at the time to appear. About us: Irvin here to tell you about what we're all about. To keep it simple, we're three friends that like to watch anime and talk about it. We've embarked on a journey to become the most knowledgeable anime podcast…or not… So what do I do as the host, I put Paul and Ariel's anime knowledge to the test by giving them some trivia. Every answer they get right leads to a point, we keep a running total for each anime we watch and at the end of the series we determine the winner. I will be giving the winner a prize, out of my own pocket! This week marks the first time the gals talk about anime and they're starting off with what many fans argue is the best so far: Cowboy Bebop (1998-1999). While they don't end up definitively deciding whether or not they like anime, they do determine there's no way to tell a human they look like an animal and have it be received as a compliment.Love the show?
