In this sermon, Dr. Oheneba Boadum explores the spiritual consequences of human autonomy, contrasting a life of divine dependence with the "haste of civilization." He uses the biblical narrative of Cain and Seth to illustrate how humanity often builds systems—such as cities, arts, and technology—to compensate for a lost sense of God's presence. The sermon argues that while the line of Cain focused on sensual innovation and self-sufficiency, the lineage of Seth represents a return to worship and holiness. Ultimately, Boadum encourages us to move away from secular self-reliance and rediscover an intimate, prayerful connection with the Creator. This teaching emphasizes that true restoration is found by placing spiritual devotion above the distractions of modern societal progress.

What distinguished John from even the least person in the kingdom was not faithfulness or devotion—John had both in abundance. The difference is that those who belong to the kingdom of heaven are born of God. Through faith in Christ, believers enter into a new life and a new relationship with God that the prophets only anticipated from afar. Those who are born of God experience the fullness of God's grace revealed in Christ.

‎Billy Graham once said “Nothing can calm our souls more or better prepare us for life's challenges than time spent alone with God.” In those sacred moments of stillness, when the noise of the world fades away, our hearts are realigned and our strength is renewed. He also observed that deep within every human heart is a longing greater than all others—a longing for inner peace. Today, we examine the second and third step to finding rest in God.

“Becoming Oaks of Righteousness” Isaiah 61:1-3           January 18, 2026 Missionary Phil Sermon Application [file]   ----more---- Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; [2] to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; [3] to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.  True transformation into "oaks of righteousness" comes not through performance or outward piety but through cultivating a deep, habitual delight in God's presence—a delight that ultimately causes the watching nations to recognize the Lord's blessing.            I. The Human Condition: Struggling to Delight in God      II. The Prophetic Context: Israel's Rebellion and God's Pursuit     III. The Anointed One's Mission (vv. 1–2)     IV. The Divine Exchange (v. 3a)      V. The Oak Tree Metaphor: Characteristics of Oaks of Righteousness (v. 3b)     VI. Who Calls Them Oaks of Righteousness? (vv. 9, 11) When God's people cultivate habits of genuine delight in His presence, they become oaks of righteousness—not by striving for recognition, but by being so rooted in Christ that the nations take notice and desire the God who has blessed them.

(This podcast was previously published on January 2, 2021)   Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney  ...   Paul told the elders at Ephesus that he knew that "after his departing", many of the elders among themselves would arise "speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them." (Acts 20:30)   The apostle John told the church group there were already "many antichrist" who had come among their church group.   I John 2:18-19   Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.  They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.   Some of them went out and started other church groups, and preached "another doctrine".   Hereby all these denominations began.  And many other denominations came later through the centuries, between the early church set up by Jesus from heaven at the time Jesus was taken into heaven, until now in the time where we live.   But we have only one doctrine and that is the doctrine of the New Testament Bible by the Holy Spirit of God.   And we have one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God.   But there are many church denominations and many diverse doctrines in these groups.   How do we know the truth?   We read the New Testament Bible and when we are of God, HE opens our eyes to see the truth and the doctrines of Christ.   II Timothy 3:16-17    All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.   When we see a church teaching something opposite to the doctrine of Christ which we read the in Bible we leave that church group, knowing it is "antichrist" opposite to the doctrine of Christ, the Word.   *****   Shortly after I was born again in 1975, I attended a church group with my best friend and her husband.  The pastors were professors from Dallas Theological Seminary.   The pastor was teaching "tongues" were of the devil.   But one day I was reading I Corinthians 14 and saw the following scripture in the Bible:   I Corinthians 14:39   Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.   That church I had been attending was teaching something exactly opposite from that which Paul said in the New Testament Holy Bible.   I chose Bible and never went back again to that church group.   ***   In looking for a church to attend, I went to a small non-denomination church group.   Pastor was teaching.   That night he took us to John 8 where the woman who was taken in adultery was brought before Jesus.  Pastor said when the woman was brought before Jesus she was naked from the waist up.   I was very shocked!  I'd never seen that before in John 8.  I grabbed my Bible and began reading John 8.  That which pastor said was not in John 8.  I looked about the room to see if others were reading Bible.  I didn't see anyone reading the Bible.  I saw men sitting with very big grins on their faces.  I knew they were picturing this naked woman.   The next day, I called the pastor.  I told him I had been in his service the night before when he spoke of John 8 and he said that woman taken in adultery was naked from waist up.  I told him I could not find that in the Bible.  I asked him where it was in Bible.   Pastor was very silent.   Then pastor said, "I can't remember where it is in the Bible."   I told pastor that it was very important to me to know where it was in the Bible and I asked him to please look it up and tell his secretary where it says that and have her call me and tell me.   Pastor became very silent.  And then pastor became very angry and shouted into phone:  "All right!  It's not in the Bible.  Where do you go to church?"   I was hunting a church to attend, but I couldn't go to a church where pastor taught things not in the Bible as he was doing.   2 Corinthians 2:17   For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.   ***   Then I went to another non-denominational church.   Pastor was teaching concerning Abraham and Sarah.   Pastor said:  "Sarah and Hagar were 1/2 sisters."   I'd never read that before (or even heard anyone say that before).   I went home and read my Bible.   I could find no scripture which stated that Sarah and Hagar were 1/2 sisters.   So I called and spoke to the pastor, asking him where that is in the Bible.   Pastor said:  "I can't recall where it is in the Bible."   I asked pastor to please look it up and tell his secretary and have her call me and tell me where it is in the Bible.   Amazingly this pastor said exactly the same thing as that previous pastor.   He became angry and shouted into phone:  "All right ... it's not in the Bible."   Neither pastor showed any shame at all for teaching things at church which were not in the Bible.   ***   Approximately 15 years later, in 2017, God explained what was happening in churches when pastors taught things not in Bible, and they did not repent from doing this and were not ashamed of the way they mishandled the Word of God.   "These pastors are antichrist."   These pastors teach things not in Bible and their congregations accept things not in Bible, this is the falling away, anarchy which had to come into the churches before Jesus could return.   Then I understood.   2 Thessalonians 2:3-4   Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (of the Lord) shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;   4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.   God said to me:  "The falling away are not people leaving the church group.  The falling away are the church groups falling away from the scriptures."   And God said to me the word "restraint".   I knew this was in a scripture and I found it in the following:   2 Thessalonians 2, NASB   6 And you know what restrains him now, so that he will be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is removed. 8 Then that lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;   I said to God, "What is the restraint?  Who restrains antichrist?"   Immediately God opened my eyes to see.   The restraint was Jesus, The Word of God, the Holy Scriptures.   As soon as the scriptures were removed at the church group, antichrist came into that church group speaking doctrines that are opposite to the New Testament Bible and adding to the Bible.   Now I understood why those pastors who had perverted the Bible did not feel shame nor repent.  They were antichrist.   Since this time, I have encountered many antichrist in those many men who write emails to me from all over the world and say they are pastors.  I have seen many antichrists who attend churches.   Antichrist is not one man as many churches have taught in the past.   Antichrist is a spirit in many men and women in religious groups.   Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.  (2 Thessalonians 2:4)

This proves him fit to undertake our salvation; for life and light, spiritual and eternal life and light, are the two great things that fallen man, who lies so much under the power of death and darkness, has need of. From whom may we better expect the light of divine revelation than from him who gave us the light of human reason? And if, when God gave us natural life, that life was in his Son, how readily should we receive the gospel-record, that he hath given us eternal life, and that life too is in his Son!"

This week we continue our series on presenting the gospel to children in our churches and families with Dr. John Snyder and his wife, Misty. The pair has spent years considering the topic, not just as parents, but as the authors of Behold Your God: Seeking Him Early, a curriculum that aims to present the realities of the gospel to children on their level. We are continuing to get help from Charles Spurgeon's small pamphlet, Feed My Lambs. In that work, Spurgeon warns against several ditches in presenting Christ to children. The first is not speaking on their level. This doesn't mean we should just replace big words with small words. But it does mean defining the words we use carefully and in a way the kids can grasp. Additionally, when the Lord has done the miraculous work of converting a child, we must be careful not to expect perfect fruit or exceptional spiritual maturity before we embrace him or her as a member of the body of Christ. Spurgeon also gives us an opportunity for self-reflection. Do our actions reveal that we don't believe children can be or need to be saved right now? Jesus makes it clear throughout the gospels that he desires the little ones to come to him. He also makes clear how dangerous it is to be guilty of preventing them. Let us bring our hearts to the Lord through this episode and pray he shows us areas we need to rethink and trust that He is able and willing to save our little lambs. He specially says, "I will come to you"; and so He will. His coming is specially to and for His own people. This is meant to be their present comfort while they mourn that the Bridegroom doth not yet appear.

Living with the True God: Lessons from Judges - https://www.mediagratiae.org/lessons-from-judges The book of Judges is an extraordinary book. It records times of great peril, eras of God's grace, and heartbreaking seasons of idolatry. The people of Israel wrongly believed that since the battle for Canaan was over their battle against idolatry and sin was as well. As New Testament believers reading this account know, the battles for their hearts was just beginning. In this week's episode of our series giving you an overview of the Judges, Dr. John Snyder and Teddy James discuss the season of the Christian's life that can seem so mundane and ordinary. It is the everyday life where the greatest victories of the Christian life happen. We can certainly celebrate victories over sin we once thought unbeatable. But when the battle is over and we return home, we must continue to be vigilant. We must continue leaning on our Beloved. Again, this episode is just a fly-by of this often-misunderstood book of the Old Testament. For a more in-depth study of Judges, consider the Media Gratiae study, Living with the True God: Lesson from Judges. https://www.mediagratiae.org/lessons-from-judges.

On today's edition of Family Talk, Gary Bauer concludes his heartfelt discussion with Mark Hancock, the CEO of Trail Life USA, about the serious tug-of-war taking place in the family, especially within the relationship of fathers and their sons. Our boys need to know that their dads are there for them, and are invested in their lives. Fathers need to model for their sons the biblical truths on which to stand, and how to live them out. The rewards will prove invaluable for generations to come. Proverbs 22:6 says, Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.
