Find the show notes for this episode HERE.Have you ever asked yourself… Why are my boys so WILD?  Why do they have so much energy? Why are they so loud and rambunctious and aggressive?  In today's episode, we're going to find out where this wildness comes from.WELCOME TO THE SWORD AND STORY PODCAST! The Sword and Story podcast is dedicated to helping Christian parents discover exciting, faith-filled books for their boys—stories packed with courage, honor, and adventure. If you're looking for books for your boys with thrilling storytelling from a Christian worldview, then you're in the right place.Join us as we explore books that will help our boys grow to be strong, courageous warriors for the Kingdom of God. I'm your host, Laurie Christine. I'm the author of the Dragon Slayer Bible Series, adventure-packed biblical fiction for 8-12 year old boys. I'm also a wife and mom to 4 wild, wonderful young men. My boys are currently 9, 10, 13, and 14.I am busy interviewing and scheduling authors for the new episodes of the Sword and Story podcast. Those new author interviews will be airing later this summer. But in the meantime, I think it's important that we take some time to understand how God created our boys. Last week we listened to an interview with Mark Hancock, CEO of Trail Life USA. If you missed that episode, go back and listen to episode 2 of the sword and story podcast and you can find that at swordandstorypodcast.com. In that episode, Mark and I discussed how we can let our boys be boys. This week, we're tackling the question:  Why are my boys so wild? Why are they so loud? Why do they have so much energy? If we want to find books that will help our boys to become strong, courageous warriors for God's Kingdom, we need to understand some of the core desires that God has given boys. That's what we're going to talk about in today's episode.

This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Ten years ago, Utahns Jason Murray and Mark Hancock founded PACS, a post-acute health care company. In April PACS launched a successful IPO on the New York Stock Exchange and now has 275 facilities in 14 states. PACS's VP of communication Brooks Stevenson tells us more. BROOKS STEVENSON: PACS is revolutionizing the delivery, leadership, and quality of post-acute care nationally. We started PACS because we felt there was a better way to provide quality care in the post-acute health care sector. And as we execute on our mission, we are making a tremendous difference in the lives of the most vulnerable population in our country. We've taken decades of hands-on experience in post-acute care and translated that into a model that greatly reduces administrative burdens for our leadership teams; we do the heavy lifting on the business side, which gives our local teams more time to focus on the care, well-being, and quality of life of their patients and their employees. PACS elevates the delivery of local health care by providing technological and human resources, tools, and guidance, and empowering facility leaders and their teams to make local decisions based on patient needs. It's a simple philosophy that healthcare is local, and the focus on care is our top priority. DEREK MILLER: Utah is a leader in healthcare services and technology. PACS is a national leader in skilled nursing and post-acute care. The combination of PACS business model and Utah's healthcare talent provides a ready solution to the challenges facing the industry.     Trail Life USA - a Christian option, for those concerned about how the Boy Scouts of America have changed Trail Life USA offers camping, outdoor adventures, a process for advancing through ranks and badges, and connects boys and male teens with adult role models. In some ways this seems like what Boy Scouting has been doing for over a century. However, Trail Life has only been in existence for about a decade. In those ten years, participation in Trail Life has mushroomed to over 60 thousand -- that as Scouting USA (the new identity for Boy Scouts) has dropped by fully half, from two million to one million. While COVID, child safety scandals, less emphasis on outdoors activities (and more on electronic devices) and a general decline in the status of many membership-based organizations, today's guest says the BSA's departure from its traditional values is a big reason why. Trail Life USA is a national Christian ministry with the goal of building the character and confidence of boys.   Trail Life's CEO Mark Hancock tells us about the specifically Christ-centered and boy-focused programs for boys from kindergarten through high school. Their activities are a response to national research that too many boys particularly do not have strong, helpful, positive male role models. Today's Family Life Interview delves into the reasons Hancock sees successes where Trail Life troops have been started in all 50 states.       For follow-up information Find more about Trail Life, how to charter a troop, and where to find a program for your sons: www.TrailLifeUSA.com Here is a report on why Boy Scouts are faltering while Trail Life is growing:  "No Longer an 'Alternative'" A former pastor (and dad of two sons) now leads Trail Life USA:  Mark Hancock's biography

Our boys need to know that their dads are there for them, and are invested in their lives. Fathers need to model for their sons the biblical truths on which to stand, and how to live them out. Mark described how it all started in June of 2013 when about 50 people gathered in Louisville, Kentucky. 68 days later an inaugural convention took place at Nashville, Tennessee, where 1,200 people came from 44 states. That's where they announced the name and the general line of the program. 3 months later, on January 1, 2014, the program was officially launched. Since that time they've grown to over 1,200 troops in all 50 states with nearly 60,000 members. --Review this edition of Crosstalk to learn about their motto, their core value, the connection to local churches, their outdoor focus, servant leadership and other hallmarks that make this organization a God-pleasing choice for helping young boys become men of Christ.

The Christian Outlook | Topics for Today's Believers

The Christian Outlook - May 11, 2024 Greg Seltz talks with Cliff May, of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, about the ideological underpinnings propping up the continued unrest on university campuses across the nation, as well as the culpability of the Biden administration. Albert Mohler looks at how far gone the Boy Scouts are, even going as far as changing their name to "Scouting America" to reflect their "inclusive" position, which really means non-homosexual boys aren't welcome. Bill Bunkley has a refreshing conversation with Mark Hancock, the CEO of Trail Life USA, the scouting alternative for boys, which places special emphasis on growing boys into God-fearing men who can lead their homes in a Christ-like way. Seth Leibsohn reflects on an inspiring word from Teddy Roosevelt, which was really a challenge for boys to become men. As such, it was once included in the original Boy Scout handbook. Greg Seltz talks with Ryan Walters, Oklahoma's State Superintendent of Public Instruction, about what his state is doing to push back on the Biden Administration's redefinition of Title IX, a law that was originally supposed to protect women, and now does the opposite. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What You Need to Know is the Trump sham trials are imploding, and the 2024 election is on the line! The NYC hush money courtroom has been full of prosecutorial folly, the federal case over Trump's alleged “mishandling” of classified documents is now indefinitely postponed because the FBI mishandled the chain of evidence, and the Georgia appeals court is now going to consider Trump's motion to disqualify disgraced Fulton DA Fani Willis from her “get Trump” election interference case.   Mark Hancock, CEO of Trail Life USA, joins Ed to discuss the recent name change for the Boy Scouts. Mark talks about how Trail Life is Christ-centered and boy-focused, giving young men the opportunity to form community and gain outdoors skills. Meanwhile, the Boy Scouts have become rapidly progressive in an effort to become more inclusive and appease the woke mob. Dr. Jerome Corsi is the New York Times best-selling author of over 30 books and hundreds of articles. He joins Ed to discuss his most recent co-authored book: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy: The Final Analysis: Forensic Analysis of the JFK Autopsy X-Rays Proves Two Headshots from the Right Front and One from the Rear. Dr. Corsi tells about the biggest conclusions drawn throughout this book and how it reveals more about the assassination of President Kennedy. Bike riding, baseball games, climbing trees, hide and go seek and showing up dirty, hungry, and exhausted when the sun went down.
