Many people do a lot of things to please God. They will go to church every Sunday. They will make prayers of intercession for all kinds of people and situations. They will give their money, time, and energy for the cause of the kingdom. They will serve others in the church and community. Yet, if any of these good things are done without faith—it doesn't please God. Without faith it's impossible for any of us to please the Lord. There are 3 steps we can take towards pleasing God: Step #1) Draw near to God (James 4:8)Drawing near to God means that we make Him first and foremost in our hearts and minds every single day. We draw near to Him because in Him we find peace when we are hurting, love when we are rejected, and hope when we feel despair. In His presence, we are strengthened and renewed in our faith to move forward. Step #2) Believe that God exists (Psalms 14:1)This isn't just believing there's a God—even the demons believe in God and are scared witless. (James 2:19) This the believing that God is real in our lives—that He is aware of who we are, of our triumphs and defeats, of our prayers and intercessions, etc. It's believing everything the Bible says about God. Step #3) Believe that He rewards those who seek after Him (Matthew 6:4, 6, 18; 10:42)There are rewards in following after God in this lifetime and the next one. He is a good heavenly Father who longs to bless His children in abundance. His rewards are more than just material things, rather His rewards bring spiritual, emotional, and mental blessings as well. PRAYER Dear Lord, I long to please You with my life and the decisions I make every day. Help me to draw near to You, believe in You and trust that You will bring rewards in my life. Amen. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/felicia721/message

Do the old questions never really go away? Almost every time I talk with someone who has had something happen which he didn't like, I am asked, "How could a loving God do this?" Or, "I can't understand why God didn't step in and do something. After all, if He is as powerful as He is supposed to be, why didn't He stop this from happening?"

Over the next few weeks we are going to take a journey into the concept of an “upside down kingdom.” This is affectionately referred to as what Christ did when he came to earth to usher in the Kingdom of God. He lived, acted, taught and portrayed a complete contrasting way of life for those who are followers of Christ. It is these principles and precepts that look contrary to the world's kingdom, which is why we call it the upside down kingdom. Today we begin with step one: Understanding the Kingdom of God. Do you have multiple businesses or lots of business ideas? Are you struggling with figuring out how to focus when you are multi-passionate and enjoy many different types of endeavors?  Have you ever gone on a trip and felt like there’s no way you could do all the activities you want to do in the time you’re there? This is similar to how we often feel as multi-passionate Christian women. We have so many ideas and so much we want to accomplish, and it can be really hard to narrow down and focus on one thing. In this episode, I want to walk you through a process that I’ve used for myself to learn how to focus even when you have lots of ideas and passions you could pursue. This will be especially helpful if you are an entrepreneur or if you have business ideas, as I’ll be focusing on this from a business angle. For the full show notes for this episode, go to estherlittlefield.com/episode140. 2 problems with trying to promote multiple businesses: It’s very challenging to try and build or grow more than one business because it's hard for people to know who to refer to you. We can spread ourselves too thin and end up being ineffective leaders. How to Focus When You are Multi-Passionate: Step 1: List out all your ideas Step 2: Become self-aware Step 3: Put it all before God Step 4: Ask yourself: what would you really love to do? Step 5: Get input from trusted mentors or advisors Step 6: Run your options through the ‘ideal business’ filter Step 7: Decide and take action   Action Step: Join the free Communicate & Connect Challenge. This challenge will help you to communicate effectively about what you do - your business or your passion project AND connect with the types of people who need to hear what you have to offer. We’ll work through this together so you feel confident when someone asks you what you do, have the words to create curiosity instead of confusion, and can keep the conversation going to lead people down the path of working with you!   Connect with Esther and Holly: Esther’s Website The Christian Woman Business Podcast Holly’s Website Facebook Group Facebook Page   This episode was originally published on estherlittlefield.com/episode140.

Happy Monday SHiFT Family! This week's SHiFT Nugget is about trusting God every step of the way. We all would love to see the whole staircase before taking a step, but that's not faith. Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase. Trusting God is not about having it all together or figured out before you move on what He has said to you, it's believing that He won't ever let you fall or fail. The bible says that His word is a lamp to our feet. That means that we can trust His word to lead and guide us. And since God and His word are one, we can trust Him with our every step. He loves us too much to leave us stranded. #SHiFTNugget #YoungAdults #Ministry #WorldChangers

Text: 1 Chronicles 29:14 & 2 Corinthians 9:7 Opening Statement: Stewardship is not fund-raising; it’s basic discipleship. But in a similar sense, each believer must come to understand that giving is not just about “doing their duty.” Giving is actually a deeply personal indicator of our spiritual maturity as well as our love for God. Step #1 Learning to Trust God through Giving The ultimate outcome is that those who give as stewards experience a sense of intimacy with God that all followers of Christ long for. Giving becomes worship. Giving becomes a way of saying thanks to God for His grace and promised provision. Giving becomes a deep part of our personal connection to God. Consider these Three Widows who grew in knowledge of God through giving The Widow of Zarephath – 860 BC (1 Kings 17:7-14) It should be no surprise to us that God uses the area of financial giving to test our heart and then to draw us close as we trust and obey Him. Let’s just make a few observations about this widow that might fit our situation: She was a believer in the true God. She had serious financial needs herself. She was asked to give away a big part of the little she had. She heard God’s promise to provide for her if she gave. She believed God’s promise and first gave obediently to God. God show His care by providing for her needs miraculously! The Widow and Jesus at the temple – 30 AD (Mark 12:41-44) This is how God views giving today. God always sees the sacrifice of giving. That’s where the worship of giving really happens. It costs. King David once said, I will not sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing (1 Chronicles 21:24). Again, let’s learn some basic lessons from this incident: We are never too poor to give. Giving generously means trusting God for the future. God is honored by our degree of sacrifice, not the amount. Giving is worship that expresses our relationship to God. The Widow and God’s business (1990’s) This story took place in modern times. It’s told in Ron Blue’s book, Generous Living (published in 1997). It’s the story of Christian woman named Ruby. Step #2 How Giving connects us with God personally These stories are not just about God’s reward for giving. They pull back the curtain on God’s desire to connect relationally with us. Giving was the crucial element that connected each of them to God as they stepped closer to Him in personal trust. Giving connects us to God relationally in a several significant ways. Giving establishes our humility before God. Giving is about me expressing to God that He is my superior. Giving is about me putting myself into a rightful humble relationship with God because He is the Owner and I am the steward. I am simply giving something to Him to express that I understand His ownership. Giving establishes our worship before God. Giving is literally worship. Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops." The Hebrew word “honor” means to “glorify” or to acknowledge the importance of something. When applied to God, honoring Him means that we ascribe to Him the significance that He deserves as God. Giving expresses our trust in God. Giving is a test. (Malachi 3:10) “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” Giving really is about trusting God. Trust is always based on a relationship. Do we know and trust God? Step #3 Personal Story of God’s Faithfulness Share your story with others and if you don’t have one yet; Start writing it today!

How do we get to a place of faith like Paul and Stephen? They both died for their faith. They knew as it was happening what was coming and surrendered. As we celebrate this Easter, there are some sobering stats about the state of faith in America. Just 20% of American self-professed Christians attend church on a weekly basis. That number climbs to 50% for Easter. What this might tell us is that the church is failing in its job to show Jesus. Many Christians haven't really met Him. Romans 10:9 is the origin of the salvation prayer, but many don't think about the true meaning and intent of those words. The heart is at the center of life: all physical, spiritual, and soul (thoughts, desires, purposes), flow from the heart. In order to trust God, we have to develop a relationship with Him and if we have a damaged heart because we have been burned by people or the church, we might not want to open ourselves up. We have to learn to trust God and give up control, with three areas where we must surrender to deepen our relationship with Him. First, we build trust through His Word. Romans 12:2 reminds us to renew our minds. Ask yourself: What am I spending more time doing - watching tv or spending time in the Word with God? If we don't desire to spend time in the Word and learn more, it is a dangerous place to be, making us an easy target for the enemy. Second, we build trust with God through prayer. We talk to Him and share our thoughts, feelings, concerns, and fears. Check out Matthew 7:11, Philippians 4:6, 1 John 5:14, and Colossians 4:2. Third, we build relationships with other believers to encourage one another and walk together as in Hebrews 10:24-25. To have a deep relationship with God, we must be willing to sacrifice, whether that is things, relationships, or our selfish desires, to completely surrender our lives to Him. Some questions to ponder this week: What am I prioritizing above God? What am I holding onto that is keeping me from the promises of God? Step into surrender!

Women Infused Radio with Kristi Lynn Olson - Women | Business | Fascinating Faith

Are you ready for a little clarity today?  I hope so because today we dive in to the 3rd step of my series Unveiled Voices and the power of your calling. Clarity, my friend and my nemesis.  I’ve learned that to get where you want to go, you need clarity.  Action steps make sense and happen so much quicker when you have clarity. Clarity Your divine Message, rooted in self-worth, honoring your past, discerning life patterns, determining your mission and defining how to walk it out.  Whew, that’s a lot of stuff packed in.  Today you’re going to start unpacking and decluttering to get some clarity on the vision and calling on your life. Habakkuk 2:2-3 NLT "Write the message and make it clear" so that the runner can carry the correct message to others. this vision is for a future time.  It describe the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.  It will not be delayed.   If you want to do some of this work on your own, Laurie Beth Jones has a great book called The Path: Creating Your mission Statement for work and life.  In her book she outlines three steps to writing a mission statement.  What excites you? What principle, cause, value, or purpose would you be willing to devote your life to? whom are you here to help? Your highest calling, or as Laurie Beth Jones refers to it as Your mission statement, should be engaging, clear, inspiring and exciting.  And it should be so large enough to encompass a lifetime  of activities to walk it out.  It should be specific to your unique gifts and talents.  It has to be genuine and from the heart.  Make sure all your activities and flow from and relate back to your calling in general.   My firm belief is that while some men and women ARE called to live out their highest calling in the church, most of us are called to live our our highest calling outside the walls of the church. Jesus did the majority of his work OUTSIDE the temple.  He brought the 'church' to the people who needed his message the most.  He did life with them and held on to his purpose with intention.  He knew the bigger picture and had a strategy for getting there each step of the way. Now is your time.  Your time to Dream Big and clarity your divine message.  and then hold on to that Calling with everything you’ve got, and when you think you don’t have anything left, watch God Step in…. But God!  Be unshakeable. The Word Unveiled: You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail. Prov. 19:21 NLT Clarity and alignment with God's plan for your life is the key.  We have plans, but a higher vision always comes from spending time with Him.  The anointing always comes by spending time in his presence.
