Hey Warriors! In this episode of the Love Your Life Show, I'm diving into something so many of us struggle with: how to truly support the anxious people in our lives—whether it's your teen, young adult, or even your partner.  It's easy to fall into habits of fixing, dismissing, or saying things we think are helpful but actually fuel their inner critic or inner rebel. I'm sharing how we can instead strengthen their inner coach, the voice that builds resilience and confidence, while staying calm and grounded ourselves.  If you've ever wondered how to help someone you love without taking on their anxiety, this episode is for you. Hey Warriors, it's the last episode of season 15!   While I was in Portland, I was contacted by the sister of a victim who's case I covered in Season 11. I covered the case of Timothy Ridpath as a True Crime Quickie because there was not a whole lot of information about it. After Timothy's sister Nicole contacted me, I found there was some misinformation in the newspaper articles that I did have to use for reference. With the help of Nicole, I hope to be setting the inaccuracies right. Our True Crime Quickie is from West Palm Beach Florida in 2017. Promo for: A Hateful HomicideIntro: Black Moons by 126ersOutro: Subtle Betrayal by SYBSBecome a Patron! Hey Warriors... Today, we're tackling a crucial topic: discerning the voice of God. How do we know if what we're hearing is from God, our own thoughts, or external influences? Understanding this can make a significant difference in our spiritual journey. We'll provide guidance on differentiating these voices, share biblical and theological insights on spiritual discernment. Our springboard for today's discussion is: John 10:27 - "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."Understanding how to discern God's voice is essential for every believer. In John 10:27, Jesus tells us that His sheep listen to His voice and follow Him. This implies that as His followers, we have the ability to recognize His voice. However, distinguishing between God's voice, our own thoughts, and external influences can be challenging.1. Recognizing God's VoiceGod's voice often comes with a sense of peace and alignment with His Word. When God speaks, His message will never contradict Scripture. It will also often be confirmed through circumstances, the counsel of other believers, and an inner sense of conviction.Biblical Insight:* Scripture Alignment: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Any message from God will be consistent with the Bible.* Peace and Conviction: Philippians 4:7 speaks of the peace of God that transcends all understanding, guarding our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. God's voice often brings a profound sense of peace and clarity.2. Differentiating Personal ThoughtsOur own thoughts are influenced by our desires, fears, and experiences. While they can be insightful, they are not always aligned with God's will. Personal thoughts can be recognized by their alignment with our emotions and current mindset.Biblical Insight:* Self-examination: Proverbs 16:2 says, "All a person's ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord." It's important to examine our motives and consider whether our thoughts are self-centered or God-centered.3. Identifying External InfluencesExternal influences include the opinions of others, cultural norms, and spiritual opposition. These voices can often be loud and persuasive but may not align with God's truth.Biblical Insight:* Testing the Spirits: 1 John 4:1 advises, "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." This calls for discernment and testing against God's Word.Steps That You Can Take:Now, let's discuss practical steps you can take to discern God's voice more clearly.1. Immerse Yourself in ScriptureThe more familiar you are with God's Word, the easier it is to recognize His voice. Regular Bible reading and study help you understand God's character and His ways. Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." Let Scripture illuminate your path and guide your decisions.2. Seek God in PrayerConsistent prayer is essential in discerning God's voice. In prayer, we communicate with God and open our hearts to His guidance. James 1:5 encourages us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." Ask God for wisdom and clarity.3. Consult with Trusted BelieversSeeking counsel from mature Christians can provide valuable insights and confirmation. Proverbs 15:22 states, "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed." Share your thoughts and experiences with those who have a strong relationship with God.Conclusion:Warriors, discerning God's voice is a skill we can develop with practice and patience. By immersing ourselves in Scripture, seeking God in prayer, and consulting with trusted believers, we can better recognize His voice amidst the noise. Remember, God desires to speak to us and guide us in His ways.Question of the Day: How can you better position yourself to hear and discern God's voice in your daily life?Let's Pray:Heavenly Father, thank You for speaking to us and guiding us. Help us to discern Your voice clearly amidst the noise of our thoughts and external influences. Give us wisdom and peace as we seek Your will. Teach us to rely on Your Word and the counsel of fellow believers. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.Warriors, stay vigilant, stay prayerful, and always be ready to listen for God's voice. Hey Warriors, Today, we're diving into the powerful and inspiring world of radical obedience to God's call. Obedience to God can be challenging, but it also brings incredible blessings. We'll explore the trials and triumphs of following God's instructions and provide practical tips for discerning and obeying His voice in our own lives. Our springboard for today's discussion is: Luke 11:28 - "He replied, 'Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.'"Let's start by understanding what radical obedience means. It's not just about following God's commands; it's about stepping out in faith, even when it's uncomfortable or risky. Radical obedience often requires us to go against the grain, to trust God more than our circumstances, and to rely on His strength rather than our own.Obeying God can bring us to situations where we face significant challenges. It might mean making a difficult decision, stepping into the unknown, or letting go of something we hold dear. But, as Jesus said in Luke 11:28, true blessings come from hearing and obeying God's word.Radical obedience involves a deep trust in God. Consider the story of Abraham, who was called to leave his homeland and go to an unknown place. He obeyed, not knowing where he was going, but trusting God's promise. This kind of faith and obedience is what God calls us to today. It's about trusting that His plans are better than ours, even when we can't see the whole picture. Now, let's discuss the blessings that come from this kind of obedience. When we obey God, we align ourselves with His will, and that brings peace and fulfillment. We might face trials and hardships, but we also experience God's presence and provision in powerful ways. Obedience to God opens doors to blessings we could never imagine, and it allows us to be part of His incredible work in the world.Steps That You Can Take:Now, let's talk about how you can discern and follow God's instructions in your own life.1. Spend Time in Prayer and ScriptureTo hear God's call, you must first be in a position to listen. Dedicate time each day for prayer and reading the Bible. In John 10:27, Jesus says, "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." As you immerse yourself in God's Word, you'll become more attuned to His voice. In your prayer time, ask God to reveal His will for you. Be honest about your struggles and doubts, and ask for His guidance. As you read the Bible, look for verses and stories that speak to your situation. God often uses His Word to give us direction and encouragement.2. Seek Godly CounselSurround yourself with mature Christians who can provide wise counsel. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed." Share your thoughts and feelings with trusted friends or mentors who can help you discern if what you're hearing is truly from God.Sometimes, others can see things we miss. They can offer perspective and wisdom that help us make better decisions. Be open to their feedback and willing to consider their advice, but always measure it against what you sense God is telling you through prayer and scripture.3. Step Out in FaithOnce you've discerned God's call, take action. Hebrews 11:8 tells us, "By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going." Obeying God often requires stepping out into the unknown, but remember, God is with you every step of the way.Don't let fear or uncertainty hold you back. Trust that God will provide what you need as you follow Him. Take small steps if necessary, but keep moving forward in faith. God honors our obedience and uses it to accomplish His purposes. Conclusion:Warriors, radical obedience to God's call is both challenging and rewarding. Through prayer, scripture, and the support of a faith community, we can discern His voice and follow His instructions. Remember, the blessings of obedience far outweigh the sacrifices. Let's continue to seek Him earnestly, trusting that He will guide us every step of the way.Question of the Day: What step of radical obedience is God calling you to take today?Let's Pray:Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us to a life of radical obedience. Help us to hear Your voice clearly and give us the courage to follow Your instructions, no matter the cost. May our lives be a testament to Your faithfulness and grace. Guide us, strengthen us, and use us for Your glory. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.Warriors, stay vigilant, stay prayerful, and always be ready to listen and obey. Hey Warriors! In our technologically advanced era, it's quite familiar to hear about bad signals and connection disruptions. But have you ever considered a disrupted spiritual connection? I'm Matthew Adams, and today we're talking about a profound truth. The Holy Spirit—our divine connector to God—can be grieved, affecting the clarity with which we hear God's voice.Scripture: "Do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. . . . Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior." EPHESIANS 4:30-31The Holy Spirit acts as our spiritual hearing aid. He translates, conveys, and ensures that God's voice resonates in the deepest chambers of our heart. If we anger or grieve the Spirit, we are essentially creating static in this divine communication line, making it challenging to discern God's voice. The Power Of God's Whisper is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Driving Point 1: The Hindrance of Harmful Emotions Bitterness, anger, and rage; are not merely emotional states but barriers. Just as a physical obstruction would muffle sound, these emotions muffle God's voice. By entertaining these emotions, we risk muting the gentle whispers of the Holy Spirit.Driving Point 2: The Power of Words Harsh words and slander are more than just expressions; they reflect our heart's condition. When our words are critical or injurious, we're not only affecting our relationship with others but also hindering our connection with God. The Holy Spirit is grieved when our words aren't aligned with love and truth.Driving Point 3: Sensitivity to the Spirit Our spiritual sensitivity is a vital tool in hearing God. A hardened heart or a mind crowded with worldly concerns deafens us to the Spirit's nudges. By keeping our hearts tender and receptive, we ensure we remain attuned to the Spirit's guidance. Conclusion: Though God's love for us is unchanging, our capacity to hear Him is influenced by our heart's condition. Our spiritual connection needs care and nurturing. If we allow negative emotions and actions to cloud our spirit, we're dialing down the volume on God's voice. It's about ensuring our spiritual "reception" is clear, unhindered by anything that can grieve the Spirit.Call to Action: This week, make a conscious effort to filter your emotions and words through love. Each time you sense bitterness, anger, or harsh words rising, pause. Take a moment to reflect on the source and actively release it. Experience the difference in your connection with God.Prayer: Dear Spirit of God, I acknowledge the moments when my actions or words may have grieved You. I yearn for a clear and uninterrupted connection with You. Cleanse my heart, remove the obstructions, and amplify Your voice in my life. May my spirit always resonate with Yours, and may I continually be attuned to Your divine whispers. Amen.Always remember, that a clear heart ensures a clear connection with God. Maintain your spiritual health and witness the difference in your relationship with the Divine. This is Matthew Adams, your fellow traveler on this spiritual journey. Hey Warriors, In a world filled with noise, distractions, and false affirmations, are we truly listening to God's voice? Are we tuned in?Scripture: “I posted watchmen over you who said, ‘Listen for the sound of the alarm.' But you replied, ‘No! We won't pay attention!'” - JEREMIAH 6:17Biblical times might feel distant, but the message of Jeremiah rings loud and clear in our era. God sends watchmen, messages, and signals – but are we really listening? The danger isn't in God not speaking, but in us selectively hearing. The Power Of God's Whisper is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Point 1: The Calamity of a Calloused Heart. The major hindrance in discerning God's voice is a heart hardened by prejudice, desires, and selfish ambitions. When our heart is calloused, even the loudest alarms fade into mere whispers. By softening our hearts and genuinely seeking His voice, we make space for divine revelation.Point 2: The Risk of Selective Listening. We often lend our ears to what we wish to hear. In doing so, we become susceptible to false voices and soothing lies, missing out on God's true messages. By determining to hear only affirmations, we risk spiritual deafness. God's voice may not always be what we want to hear, but it's always what we need.Point 3: The Blessing of Open Ears and Heart. Being open to God means not just hearing, but truly listening. When we make ourselves available to any message God has for us – be it correction, guidance, or affirmation – our spiritual connection with Him deepens. We no longer just hear God; we understand Him.Conclusion: God's voice is constant. But to truly discern it amidst the cacophony of the world, we must tune our hearts and minds to His frequency. When we let go of our selective listening and embrace openness, we create a direct channel to God's wisdom.Call to Action: This week, challenge yourself. Step away from the noise, find a quiet place, and just listen. Make a conscious effort to clear your heart of biases and desires. Listen for God's voice with an open heart.Prayer: Heavenly Father, unblock our spiritual ears. Help us overcome our biases and self-centered desires. May we always be open to Your guiding voice, even when it challenges our preconceptions. Let our hearts resonate with Your divine messages, ensuring we never stray from Your path. Amen.Thank you, Warriors, for taking this journey with me. Hey Warriors, it's Matthew Adams here with "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast." I've been pondering doors lately, not just the physical ones, but the metaphorical doors of opportunities, decisions, and life's twists and turns. And guess what? Sometimes, God's voice is resonating in the creaking hinges and echoing through those closed hallways.Scripture: "What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open." REVELATION 3:7Life is a maze of countless doors. Some swing wide open, while others slam shut in our faces. And while doors can symbolize myriad possibilities, they also represent God's divine direction. But how do we discern His voice amid the deafening noise of life's choices? The Power Of God's Whisper is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Point 1: Doors Don't Dictate; They Direct. The state of a door doesn't determine God's will. An open door isn't an automatic "go," and a closed door isn't always a "no." Just like the Israelites at the Red Sea, sometimes God calls us to what seems impassable. But His power makes a way when there seems to be none.Point 2: Discernment is in the Details. When facing multiple open doors, it can feel overwhelming. But God isn't a God of confusion. When He opens more than one door, He also provides discernment to choose wisely. It's crucial to lean into Him, seek wisdom, and be patient. Let His voice guide you, even if it means waiting by the door for a while.Point 3: Trust in God's Perfect Timing. Our timing isn't always aligned with God's, and that's a good thing! His panoramic view of our lives ensures that every door's opening and closing serves a divine purpose. Even when our impatient hearts yearn to push forward, His voice may beckon us to wait, promising that His timing is perfect. Conclusion: Every door we face, open or closed, presents a chance to hear God's voice, to discern His will, and to align our steps with His. So as you stand before the doors of life, be still, listen closely, and let Him guide you through or steer you away.Call to Action: This week, take a moment to stand before the doors in your life. Pray, seek God's guidance, and listen intently for His voice. Is there a door you've been trying to force open, or one you've been too scared to approach? Surrender them to Him and let His voice lead you.Prayer: Lord, thank You for the doors You open and those You close. We trust in Your perfect timing and direction. Give us discerning ears to hear Your voice and bold hearts to walk in Your will. Even when we're unsure, remind us that You're sovereign, and Your plans for us are perfect. Amen.Thank you for joining me, Matthew Adams, on "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast." May we always seek God's voice amid life's many doors and walk faithfully in His direction. Hey Warriors, today I want to talk to you about the power of God's whisper. Hezekiah found himself in a desperate situation, and the only way out was to hear from God. And when he prayed, God spoke to him through the prophet Isaiah. The same God who spoke to Hezekiah is the same God who speaks to us today. But are we listening? Some things to think about 1: Are you presenting your needs to God?We cannot expect to hear from God if we do not present our needs to Him. Hezekiah could have chosen to surrender or make a hasty decision, but instead, he chose to pray and wait on the Lord. When we come to God in prayer, we are acknowledging our need for Him, and we are positioning ourselves to hear from Him.Follow-up Question 2: Are you listening closely?God often speaks in a whisper, and if we are not listening closely, we can miss what He is saying. Hezekiah could have easily dismissed Isaiah's prophecy as wishful thinking or a figment of his imagination. But instead, he chose to listen and believe. When we listen to God's voice, we can have the same confidence that Hezekiah had in the midst of his trial.Follow-up Question 3: Are you willing to cooperate with God's solution?God's solutions often require our cooperation. Hezekiah could have easily dismissed Isaiah's prophecy and not taken any action. But instead, he cooperated with God's plan and was able to experience miraculous deliverance. When we hear from God, we need to be willing to cooperate with His plan and trust that He will bring it to pass.Call to Action:My dear friends, today I want to challenge you to pray, wait, and listen for God's whisper. He is speaking, but are we listening? Let us present our needs to Him, listen closely, and be willing to cooperate with His plan. Conclusion:In conclusion, the power of God's whisper is available to all of us. Hezekiah was able to experience miraculous deliverance because he presented his need to God, listened closely, and was willing to cooperate with His plan. May we also be like Hezekiah and hear from God in the midst of our trials. Let us pray, wait, and listen for His voice. And when we hear it, let us be willing to cooperate with His plan and trust that He will bring it to pass. God bless you all.Let's Pray…I have impossible situations too, Lord. Please speak into them. Hey Warriors! I am so honored and so blessed to welcome my new co-host Marcus Black, to the show. Marcus and I met while planning the Embrace Your Ambition conference in Denver last year and I truly believe that God placed him in my life to be my partner in this journey we're on: to bring God into people's lives and encourage them to follow their passion. We'll be here every other Monday to inspire, educate, and uplift you and we hope you'll join us as we walk this path that God has laid for us.  Marcus and I have both had our struggles; we've both been in places where we've felt lost, hopeless, and stuck. We've overcome these trials though, and so can you! By submitting to God's will we've come out the other side better, stronger, and more successful. Our shared mission now is to reach out and help people through podcasting, our workshops and projects, and the Embrace Your Ambition conference where we'll be hosting so many amazing guests. We are so excited to invite you to join us for the next one in Dallas from October 14th to the 17th. You won't want to miss it! In this episode, we cover: - Ashlee's origin story: starting out with -$54 in her bank account when she began her business, following God's prompts, and the success she became because of His guidance.  - Marcus' history: how he grew up as a poor kid in Mississippi and the hardships he faced, his near-death experience, and coming into his own in God's light. - Finding each other through the Embrace Your Ambition conference and working together to create positive change in people's lives.  - Healing ourselves by helping others, how sharing our message and serving God has led to joy and self-actualization.   SHOW NOTES: https://ashleefay.com/episode50 Buy Tickets: The Embrace Your Ambition LIVE Event in Dallas, October 14th - 17th, 2021 with Ashlee Fay & Marcus Black

Hey Warriors, are you ready? Amy takes a look back and shares with us a small glimpse into her life as a wife and caregiver to one with Bipolar Disorder. The heaviness of Scott's story is not the only side. He wasn't the manic man with delusions of grandeur.  He wasn't the depressed man that couldn't leave his bed.  Scott, the true Scott, was kind, giving, always willing to listen and then do what he could to help.  He was intelligent, hilarious, and charismatic.  He was an amazing father and husband and loved his family so hard.  Just like someone battling cancer, Scott battled his illness with everything he had.  He lost his battle May 13, 2019.  Amy is here, exactly 2 years later, to tell their story.  It needs spoken into the world so people will understand and in turn, have more compassion for those who suffer; whether it is the individual or the caregivers who tirelessly support them.  I want to say publicly that as Amy's friend and partner, the love she showed him and the fervor with which she fought for him is a true testament to her heart and spirit.  Big heart, big love.   In honor of Scott, we are asking that today, and the rest of the week, that you practice a random act of kindness (or several), and post it along with tagging us on Instagram @unqualifiedtherapists or Facebook @unqualifiedpodcast or Twitter @UnTherapists and use the hashtag #scottsstory . We look forward to seeing all of the love being spread in his memory.  Xo, Sarah & Amy For more information on Bipolar Disorder, check out NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Find us on Instagram Find us on Twitter Join our Fan Club

Tune in to find out more info on this!  Sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God, because of all He has done for you.
