Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 27ú lá de mí Feabhra, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 2002 d'fhág paisinéiríar eitleáin Ryanair I Londain Stansted de bharr gur chuaigh ceann de na hinneall ar thine ar na eitiltí isteach. D'iarr an phíolóta go gcaithfidh gach duine fág an t-eitleán. Tháinig gach duine as an eitleán go sábháilte. I 2004 chuaigh Irish Ferries ar ais ag obair mar is gnách tar éis shocraigh siad margadh leis an Labour Relations Commission. Chaill timpeall 450 duine a bpost nuair a chroch na seirbhísí. Ach ag an deireadh fuair siad a bpost ar ais agus tharla na idirbheartaíocht arís. I 1989 tharla cúrsa réamhphósta I mbaile Tiobraid Árann. D'iarr siad ar daoine dá mbeidís chun pósadh chun dul. I 1993 thóg Co-Op Tiobraid Árann an gnó Suttons agus bhí siad ag bainistiú an áit. Bhí seisear fostaithe ag an áit agus bhí sé lonnaithe idir Buirís Ó Luigheach agus baile Thiobraid Árann. Sin Six le There's A Whole Lotta Lovin – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 2002. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 2004 ghlaoigh duine a bhí ag obair in ollmhargadh i Colorado ar na póilíní nuair a chonaic siad fear a raibh ag siopadóireacht le masc ar a aghaidh. Tháinig na póilíní chuig an áit agus ar deireadh bhí sé Michael Jackson agus bhí sé ar saoire lena clann. Thousands of Christmas travellers hoping to cross the Irish Sea by ferry face disruption due to Storm Darragh damage. The port of Holyhead – which provides the main ferry connection between Great Britain and Ireland – has been closed since last weekend, with no sailings to or from Dublin. Normally Stena Line and Irish Ferries have four daily ferries each way between the Anglesey and the Irish capital. Hundreds of motorists and foot passengers use the link each day, with “Rail & Sail” fares offered from stations in Wales, England and Scotland to Dublin. Holyhead-Dublin is also the main freight connection between Great Britain and the Republic. The port was damaged during “two separate berthing incidents” during Storm Darragh – the wild weather that swept across Wales on 6 and 7 December. No injuries were reported. Stena Line and Irish Ferries have cancelled all sailings between Dublin and Holyhead until Friday 20 December at the earliest. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
On episode 73 of the road.cc podcast, we hear from two cyclists who tell us their trials and tribulations of trying to get their bikes on the ferry... something that appears to be a tad more difficult that boarding one by car! Our original story about Elaine Baker's ordeal with Irish Ferries ignited much debate, so we thought it was only right to follow up and get all the details. Were Irish Ferries really guilty of "pure discrimination against people on bikes" when Ms Baker was unable to board with a bicycle as opposed to a motorbike? Strap in for a fascinating and wide-ranging discussion. In part 2, George, Jamie and Jack discuss a seemingly innocuous Strava update that has drawn the ire of numerous cyclists on social media. Does it bother you that Strava is now giving us up or down arrows to tell us whether we've done more or less riding than the previous week? We discuss what it means for us, and also bring you news of yet another Strava update that may or may not be more useful than the controversial Weekly Snapshot... At the time of broadcast, our listeners can also get a free Hammerhead Heart Rate Monitor with the purchase of a Hammerhead Karoo 2.

Nicole is from the south of Ireland from a place called Millstreet in Cork. Her mother is Russian and her father of South American decent, after the birth of her brother her father left, and her mother moved both Nicole & Alex to Ireland. As a young girl she faced great challenges as sadly her mother fell victim to domestic violence, and she grew up in a difficult home environment but always took great solitude in books and storytelling.During her teenage years Nicole always dreamed of doing something great and when she finished school, she went to study Marine & Plant Engineering at the National Maritime College of Ireland where she was the only female in a class of 50 males. Faced with a toxic masculine world Nicole proved herself to be a capable engineer and began working for Irish Ferries in 2015.A few months into her career she received some devastating news that her only brother was in hospital after trying a substance at a party and she spent 4 days by his side until he subsequently died at the age of 18 years old. Alex saved four lives through organ donation but in reality, he saved 5 – he enabled Nicole to embark on one of her greatest adventures yet.Nicole gave up my career as a Marine & Plant Engineer to come home and build Alex’s Adventure. Over the last 5 years she has travelled the length and breadth of the country visiting schools and delivering a workshop educating and sharing how our choices can impact our lives forever. To date she has visited over 70 schools, colleges, youth clubs & businesses and has impacted over 7,000 students nationwide. From this life changing experience Alex’s Adventure, the drug education programme was born which aims to not only help students and the wider community learn more about substance misuse but also to upskill people in the community and empower them to be able to do what she can do.Nicole holds a degree in Marine & Plant Engineering, a Certificate in Training Development & Design and will complete a diploma in Substance Misuse Studies in 2021 in hopes of opening her own practice as an addiction councillor. She has won various awards including Humanitarian of the year 2018 and Best Start Up 2019. Nicole also works with individuals and senior corporate teams on finding their inner resilience and the power of storytelling.Leadership top tip: The solution is the easy part, figure out the problem first.#InspiringLeadership #leadership #CEOs #MotivationalSpeaker #teamcoach #Boards See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
/Christopher & Patrik
This week: 100 Ryanair pilots will go on strike this Thursday (July 12th) for the first time in the airline’s history. But just how effective will the action prove? Only 30 of its 290 scheduled flights out of Dublin that day have been cancelled as a result of the strike, so has Ryanair won the PR battle this time? Barry O’Halloran has the latest. Later in the podcast, Owen Callan, financial analyst with Investec, joins Ciarán Hancock and Cliff Taylor to discuss comments by NTMA chief executive Conor O’Kelly this week, urging the State to sell bank shares as ‘dark clouds’ gather on horizon. But first, Peter Hamilton has a roundup of some of the week’s other stories, including further woe for Irish Ferries and INM back at the High Court in their case with Office for the director of corporate enforcement.

Is Ireland a tax haven? It’s a case of semantics it seems, but what really matters is that many countries see Ireland as the bad guy when it comes to tax. On this week’s podcast, Mark Paul, Cliff Taylor and Barry O’Halloran join Ciarán to discuss a study from the Universities of Copenhagen and Berkeley in California, which labels Ireland “the world’s biggest tax haven” and states that profits moved through the Republic topped the Caribbean. Also on the show: Has Nama done a good job? And, as it becomes clear that there is a majority in favour of a soft Brexit in Westminster, what does it mean for Theresa May? But first, Peter Hamilton has a roundup of some of the other stories hitting the headlines this week, including a Revenue crackdown on AirBnB hosts, Dublin makes world’s most expensive list and Wetherspoons to cut champagne after Brexit.
