In April 2019, the quiet Welsh island of Anglesey was rocked by a crime so bizarre and brutal it seemed almost fictional.74-year-old Gerald Corrigan was outside his remote coastal home when he was struck by a single crossbow bolt - a weapon more associated with medieval warfare than modern-day Wales. What initially appeared to be a tragic accident quickly unraveled into something far more chilling. Behind the peaceful setting lay a tangled web of deception, secrecy and calculated violence - and Gerald was caught right in the middle of it.Join my Patreon community at patreon.com/britishmurders for exclusive perks, including early access to ad-free episodes, bonus episodes and content, exciting giveaways, and welcome goodies!Follow me on social media:Facebook | British Murders with Stuart BluesInstagram | @britishmurdersTikTok | @britishmurdersJoin the private Facebook group:British Murders Podcast - Discussion GroupVisit my website:britishmurders.comIntro music:David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'davidjohnbrady.comDisclaimer:The case discussed in this podcast episode is real and represents the worst day in many people's lives. The Baptist Union of Wales has recently recognised a new type of minister. A 'Category 7 Minister' has a licence to pioneer. It may not be clear what a Pioneer Minister does, but there are more of them than we might think, across all the Christian denominations. For today's programme, Rosa Hunt travels to Anglesey and interviews 5 people involved in pioneering ministry. We meet the Reverend George Bearwood in Holyhead, who as well as being an Anglican vicar, has his own heavy metal radio show; Rev Deb Stammers, a Baptist minister in Holyhead, who is also a pioneer worker in the small village of Llanerchymedd; John Hay, who wrote a feasibility study about the future of Methodist churches on the Island; Hywel Meredydd, who planted a new church nearly 50 years ago in Llangefni, in a church formally pastored by Christmas Evans; and Rachel Radbourne, who leads a growing church for young families.
Joining me today is Spike T Smith. Originally from Holyhead in North Wales, Spike has a formidable CV with some of the biggest names from the Punk/Alternative genre appearing on including Morrissey, The Damned, The New York Dolls, Killing Joke, Sham 69, H.R. (Bad Brains) and many more. Join Spike and myself as we talk about his remarkable career so far, we find out why he moved from his native Holyhead to Peterborough where he know lives with his family. We chat about his early years in North Wales and the suprisingly vibrant punk scene that was happening in the area at the time that ignited his love of this genre of music. Spike tells us about joining Memoriam, a midlands based Death metal band and how it took quite a bit of thinking about before finally commiting to the band as this was a genre he had played very little of before. It was only right to talk about the late great Robin Guy, Robin was a great friend of Spikes and they used to cover eachothers gigs quite frequently. Robin was a great former guest on the podcast, a lovely man and a great drummer, if felt right to pay tribute to Robin with Spike. We had such an enjoyable chat, Spike is such a great and very popular guy, it was a pleasure to have such a great natter with him! Cheers spike. check out his website - www.spiketsmith.com

Senior figures in the haulage industry have met with the Junior Transport Minister this morning to discuss the ongoing impact of the port being out of operation due to damage caused by Storm Darragh. Nuacht Mhall. Príomhscéalta na seachtaine, léite go mall. * Inniu an t-aonú lá is fiche de mhí na Nollag. Is mise Oisín Mac Conamhna. In Éirinn, tá an idirbheartaíocht idir Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael agus an Grúpa Réigiúnach Neamhspleách chun rialtas nua a bhunú fós ar siúl. Toghadh Verona Murphy ina Ceann Comhairle Dé Céadaoin, an chéad bhean tofa san oifig údaí i stair an stáit. Is Teachta Dála neamhspléach ó Loch Garman í, agus dúirt sí gur mór an onóir di an ról a ghlacadh. Gheall sí go mbeidh sí cothrom agus stuama, agus gheall sí freisin a cuid Gaeilge a fheabhsú go leibhéal i gcomhréir leis an ról. Dé Máirt, fógraíodh go mbeidh an calafort Holyhead ar Inis Món dúnta go dtí an cúigiú lá déag de mhí Eanáir, ar a laghad, mar gheall ar an dochar a rinne Stoirm Darragh ann. Cuirfidh an dúnadh isteach go mór ar dhaoine ag taisteal abhaile don Nollaig, agus ar an bpost idir Éire agus an Bhreatain. Dúirt urlabhraí ó Chomhlachas Tarlú Bóthair na hÉireann gur géarchéim atá ann, go mbeidh tionchar ollmhór ag an dúnadh ar an tionscal, agus go bhfuil baill dá gcuid ag cailleadh trí chéad míle euro gach seachtain mar gheall air. De ghnáth, téann 60% d'earraí a thagann isteach in Éirinn trí chalafort Holyhead. Tá an rialtas i gcomhoibriú le rialtas na Breataine Bige chun an tionchar a laghdú, agus an trácht a chur ar mhalairt slí trí Fishguard, Learpholl, nó Càrn Rìoghain in Albain. Deimhníodh an tseachtain seo go mbeadh an calafort dúnta go dtí an 15ú Eanáir mar gheall ar an damáiste a rinneadh le linn stoirm Darragh. I measc na ndaoine a bhí ag súil le taisteal tríd Holyhead le linn tréimhse na Nollag, bhí Labhras Sonny Choilm Learaí.

Conor is back and has some thoughts on the Holyhead delays.
A Clare haulier has slammed Government inaction on the closure of the Port of Holyhead which it's claimed is like a "tsunami" for those in the transport industry. The Welsh commercial and ferry port is expected to be out of commission until after Christmas, due to damage caused by Storm Darragh across December 6th and 7th. Minister of State at the Department of Transport, James Lawless has signed off on a derogation to allow drivers to work outside of normal hours, while the "ramping up" of public transport connections is also being explored to facilitate the estimated 150,000 passengers trying to get home for Christmas. Ennis-based representative and former president of the Irish Road Hauliers Association, Eugene Drennan has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons that similar measures must be implemented in the UK to prevent significant delays for passengers and freight.
