They lost despite right-hander Johnny Cueto pitching eight strong innings. After that, Josh Nelson of the Sox Machine Podcast joined the show to break down the WAR of general manager Rick Hahn's additions to the 2022 roster, the struggles of catcher Yasmani Grandal and more. Later, Bernstein and Holmes revisited the strong commentary from Stacey Dales of NFL Network and Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk regarding the Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson's six-game suspension.

There was a trade deadline? Some teams improved their rosters? SSS duty geezer Leigh Allan and his son and current next-room correspondent, Will, find that an unusual thing to do, just as the White Sox front office does. It's not like the Sox did absolutely nothing — they got a 35-year-old reliever who had walked 30 batters in 38 innings in 2022 in exchange for a catcher who was one of only two players on a team that is last in the league in defense with strong defensive value. It is notable, though, that that pitcher's Wikipedia page says that Jake Diekman likes to take long walks on the beach. No mention of piña coladas. Cleveland did even worse, and their GM pulled a Rick Hahn right afterward and said he didn't want to mess with team chemistry. Right. Somehow, though, commenters on the SB Nation Guardians site bought it. Must be drinking Cuyahoga River water. Minnesota went out and tried to fill holes on their roster by getting a solid starter and two relievers, including an All-Star closer. Shame on them for trying to win. On to the future, the duo talk about the 11 games left in the 19-game stretch of playing what are basically minor league teams, especially post trade deadline. Not that Texas gave anything away at the deadline, but they are being kind to the Sox by not pitching Martin Perez in the series and having Jon Gray on the IL, instead beginning the series with a lefty in his first major league game. With Cleveland playing Houston and the Twins facing Toronto, this is a big chance for the White Sox to surge to the lead. But will they? We make guesses. (For what it's worth, oddsmakers make them favorites every game, the Twins and Guardians underdogs every game.) The longer question being debated, though, is how many of the next 11 games the White Sox need to win to show they're a good team, how many just to get by, how many before it's time for all fans to give up on the team unless the HOFBP is fired. (Hint: It's a bunch of them, in either case.) Then there's the question of why the hell the White Sox won't say what has been wrong with Luis Robert. Medical privacy matter? Or just the usual incompetent WS PR with its complete disdain for the fans? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Pat Light got ABSOLUTELY FLAMED by Will Flemming on the Red Sox broadcast Wednesday afternoon and we get his live reaction to the audio. This transitions nicely into a discussion about current MLB players (some of which are All-Stars) that the Red Sox could've picked before they drafted Pat Light. Pat also gets into his sit-down interview with Barbara Walters on 60 minutes. We then get some quick movie recommendations by Sandra before we dive into some Red Sox talk. In Episode 34, we're breaking down the trade deadline and saying a heartfelt goodbye to Christian Vázquez. Pat speaks on what it's like to have the media swarm you immediately after a trade and talks about the massive fights that ensued between the front office and the players following his trade to Minnesota. He also details both the personal and professional issues he had with Vázquez and talks about how glad he is that he's no longer a member of the Red Sox organization. The Red Sox traded for a guy who loves jerking off in public and at this point the joke is probably played out. Tyler is pumped because Jake Diekman is gone and he ranks him among the worst relievers he's ever seen pitch for the Red Sox. The members of the name redacted pod are in serious talks to buy the Angels and trade Shohei and Trout (plus a pitching prospect) for Franchy Cordero but some people are saying it could be considered tampering. Pat is playing the role of Red Sox PR and is rephrasing some comments that Jarren Duran made after the deadline. We also get the long-awaited story between Jared and Robby Scott and talk about why that guy is an asshole. We sneak in a quick look-ahead and we're outta here. The Chicago White Sox beat the Kansas City Royals by a score of 9-2 on Tuesday night. It was a new day and a completely different offense from the White Sox. As a team, they had 14 hits and two of those hits left the ballpark. Eloy Jimenez was 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs and Andrew Vaughn had three hits including his first career triple. White Sox starter, Lucas Giolito, only went five innings but the Sox bullpen was up to the task of covering four innings. The only trade deadline acquisition for the White Sox was left-handed reliver, Jake Diekman, and he made his debut on Tuesday pitching a scoreless 6th inning. Hour 1-  Yesterday was, well, confusing for the Red Sox. The Sox traded their starting catcher Christian Vazquez to the Houston Astros in exchange for two prospects, and replaced him with Reese McGuire, who they acquired in a trade from the White Sox which dealt reliver Jake Diekman. The 3rd and final trade of the day, the Red Sox brought in outfielder Tommy Pham for a player to be named later. So in short, the Red Sox traded their longest tenured player, and a reliver that was viewed as a "big signing" for two backup players. The guys pose the question, are you buying, selling, or reconfiguring, Chaim Bloom? Making sense of the Patriots coaching staff... Does it make you feel more comfortable with Belichick working with Mac?

The Chicago White Sox lost to the Kansas City Royals on Monday night by a score of, 2-1. Salvador Perez and Whit Merrifield hit solo home runs off of White Sox starter Michael Kopech. The White Sox offense had ten hits but only one extra base hit. Michael Kopech pitched 7 innings for the Sox and threw 100 pitches. He had a solid outing, just made a couple of mistakes. Before the game, the White Sox traded backup catcher Reese McGuire to the Boston Red Sox for lefthanded reliver, Jake Diekman. The White Sox were in desperate need of some bullpen help and hopefully Diekman can eat up some valuable innings down the stretch. In this episode, Zach and Chelsie Leighter share their stories of battling Crohn’s Disease. Together since high school, they are now married with a little boy, Kash. Zach was diagnosed with Crohn’s at the age of 12, has been on countless medications from steroids to biologics, and just one month ago had his temporary ostomy made permanent. His wife Chelsie, having watched Zach fight his disease for so many years received her own Crohn’s diagnosis this past September. They are now dedicated to raising awareness about IBD and passionate about helping to educate others on what living with a chronic illness is like. Zach and Chelsie talk about what it is like to both be battling a chronic illness–while raising a toddler–and share their advice for balancing work, stress, family, and Crohn’s. Zach talks about the lead up to his temporary ostomy and what is was like to make the decision to have it made permanent. Determined to raise awareness for IBD, Zach recently became an ambassador for Jake Diekman’s Gut It Out Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for those in the IBD community through education, research, pediatric care, and support groups. As the pitcher for the Kansas City Royals, Jake Diekman has pledged $100 for every strikeout that he earns to help fund crucial research projects making advancements toward finding a cure for Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. Having already met his original goal to raise $1,000, Zach raised the bar. He and Chelsie are currently reaching out to local businesses in support of planning larger fundraisers in their area.
