Connacht Rugby and the IRFU have announced the appointment of Stuart Lancaster as the club's new Head Coach. Lancaster has signed a two-year contract and arrives at the province with a wealth of coaching experience at the highest level of the sport, across all three major European leagues and at international level. He most recently served as Head Coach of Racing 92 in France, and before then enjoyed a hugely successful seven-year spell as Senior Coach of Leinster Rugby. With primary responsibility for the day-to-day coaching of the team, he helped lead Leinster to four consecutive PRO14 titles and four Champions Cup finals, including victory in the 2018 decider. As the news broke, Galway Bay FM's William Davies joined John Morley and Darren Kelly on Galway Talks. == He made the move to Leinster after four years as Head Coach of the England national team, with whom he led for four Six Nations campaigns and the 2015 Rugby World Cup in his native country. He was appointed to that role after four years as the RFU's Head of Elite Player Development, where his primary remit was to help young players realise their potential at club and international level. Lancaster began his coaching career over 20 years ago, as Head of Academy at Leeds RFU. He was then appointed Head Coach of the Leeds Tykes in 2006, leading them to promotion to the English Premiership in his first year in charge. After a further year as Head Coach, he was promoted to the RFU. As Head Coach, Lancaster will also have responsibility for defence, thereby completing next season's coaching team. Joining him will be new attack coach Rod Seib, scrum & contact coach Cullie Tucker, and lineout & maul coach John Muldoon. Lancaster will take up the role in time for the beginning of pre-season training in July, and will be formally presented to the media and wider Connacht supporters next month.

Bradley Charbonneau began writing again after ten years with a thirty day challenge. A thousand days later and two published books he feels like he's just getting warmed up. I believe that we can all be adept at ignoring our inner voice...which generally speaking will point us in the direction of what we feel passionate about. We listen while we’re younger...it’s harder when responsibilities begin to weigh us down. While we all can’t quit our day jobs to chase our creative muses, what we can do is set aside even just a few moments from our day to honor what we feel passionate about. That is exactly what my guest today, Bradley Charbonneau, did. After receiving John Muldoon’s “Monthly Experiments” Challenge, Bradley revisited his love for writing and faced his fear square in the eye and with his pen. Bradley had been published before, but ten years and two children later made it seem like a very far-off place to find his way back to. When demands of family had set in, he gave himself the ultimatum to find a “real job” to pay the bills. But the whisper of passion is relentless, and I can’t wait for you to hear how Bradley found his way back to writing, and how a simple 30-day challenge truly took on a life of its own.
John Muldoon is a catalyst for change. He founded "The Monthly Experiments Project" in hopes to not only challenge himself but to help motivate others. John believes that "when you treat life as an experiment change becomes fun instead of hard." We hope you will join us and take part in the experiment. P.S. Jaime Tardy from the Eventual Millionaire thinks John is awesome and we just think you might, too.
The season isn't over, Connacht might have lost 24-20 to the Ospreys on Saturday but thanks to Leinster's win over Edinburgh, they held onto 7th spot and are now heading to Gloucester next Sunday for the Champions Cup qualification play off. It was a day of mixed emotions on Saturday, a truly abysmal first half display saw Connacht trail 24-0 but a thrilling second half effort restored pride and will offer hope ahead of a tricky test away to Gloucester. Host Rob Murphy is joined by Alan Deegan, William Davies and Dave Finn for the podcast. We start with an 'as it happened' segment from during the game plus we hear from Dan McFarland, Michael Swift, John Muldoon and Pat Lam.
Another week and another home defeat, 2015 started with a bang thanks to a home win over Munster but the last two weeks have been more of a whimper with defeats to Edinburgh and now against the Exeter. After Sunday's 33-24 defeat to the Chiefs in a high scoring dual at the Sportsground, Host Rob Murphy was joined by regular guests Alan Deegan, Dave Finn and William Davies to dissect a bizarre game where Connacht scored four tries, led 17-10 at half time but shipped 23 unanswered points in the second half. We also hear from Pat Lam, Rob Baxter and John Muldoon in the post game interviews. We'll be back next weekend with episode 19 from La Rochelle on the French Atlantic coast. The Podcast returns for another week to review Connacht's 24 all draw with Cardiff at the Sportsground on Friday night. Joining host Rob Murphy are Alan Deegan, William Davies and Dave Finn as they look back on arguably the most disappointing draw in Connacht rugby history. A 24-10 lead lost in the final quarter. The pod starts with our 'as it happened' segement to take you through the game, then we start the discussion and in between the chat, we hear the post game thoughts of Connnacht Head Coach Pat Lam and captain John Muldoon. Plus we clear up the confusion around what episode this is. It is episode 5, last week's show was incorrectly named!
