It was the worst time to have your worst offensive performance of the season, but that's what happened in Providence on Saturday when the Red Storm couldn't buy a bucket. St. John's cold shooting reared it's ugly head as Arkansas' length and size caused a lot of issues for the Rick Pitino's group. Kadary Richmond fouled out, RJ Luis Jr. was benched and Zuby Ejiofor's solo strong performance wasn't enough as a historic season comes to an abrupt end thanks to John Calipari and his 10 seed Razorbacks.I reflect on the loss, the decisions made, and this season. But the season never ends as St. John's makes it's first splash of the off-season in Joson Sanon transfer from Arizona State!Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
St. John's wins its first NCAA game in 25 years with a second half beat down of Omaha 83-53. RJ Luis had 22 points and 8 rebounds. Kadary Richmond had 10 points 8 rebounds and 6 assists. As a team St. John's shot 14-37 from 3.St. John's will face Arkansas on Saturday 2:40 on CBS
The dream season continues. For the first time in 25 years, St. John's has won the Big East Tournament. An incredible show of resiliency and fight to beat Butler, Marquette and Creighton in three straight days. This team proved to be tough, proved that their style can carry them through these tournament settings. Behind an incredible performance from RJ Luis Jr. on Saturday night, anchored by Zuby Ejiofor and Kadary Richmond, the nets were finally cut down. Rick Pitino promised St. John's would be back, he guaranteed it...he was right.St. John's are double champs, the conference, the tournament. St. John's caps off its magic regular season with a 86-84 OT thriller as the knock off Marquette on the road. Kadary Richmond had the first triple double in program history since Ron Artest in 1999! RJ Luis had 28 and 11! And Zuby had his 2nd game winner of the season!
St. John's got another ranked win on Sunday afternoon inside Madison Square Garden. A huge matchup between ranked opponents, fighting for the top spot of the Big East lived up to the billing. 79-73 St. John's got revenge on the Blue Jays after losing by 1 on 12/31, the surprise in this one being Deivon Smith and his health status. Tremendous games from RJ Luis Jr, Kadary Richmond and Zuby Ejifor powered St. John's to victory as the Red Storm have a two game lead for first place in the conference.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
Coach Bob Walsh is back and is it the most perfect time or what. After St. John's knocked off UConn on the road on Friday night, thanks in part to a base line out of bounds play he drew up according to Rick Pitino. We recap the win, talk about the season, RJ Luis Jr's rise, Kadary Richmond's never wavering attitude and how special this season as been with plenty more to work to do.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
Madison Square Garden was filled with red on Tuesday night, and as loud as you can hope for as #12 Red Storm took on #11 Marquette Golden Eagles. A battle of the top two teams in the Big East, the Red Storm with their first major conference test. Kadary Richmond, once again playing like an All-American, helped lead St. John's to an emphatic 70-64 win that sent a real statement to the other 10 teams in the Big East. 1-12 from three didn't matter. Being down 16 didn't matter. No Deivon Smith didn't matter. St. John's found a way to win as they have all season. Through suffocating defense and timely baskets from Kadary Richmond, RJ Luis Jr, Simeon Wilcher, and Zuby Ejifor the Johnnies got it down in OT in front of over 14,000 fans. Richmond had his best game in a St. John's uniform and when it was all said and done St. John's remained in first place and sweeping Xavier for just the third time ever.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
#20 St. John's (red)storms back from 16 down to sweep the Xavier musketeers. Kadary Richmond had his best game of the season and was huge down the stretch.
A place where St. John's usually suffered defeat after defeat, St. John's made sure to turn the tide, as they have many times this season. The Prudential Center on Saturday night was the host of a beat down for the home town team. Through boa-constrictor like defense St. John's completely overwhelmed rival Seton Hall from start to finish 79-51. Kadary Richmond made sure to remind the Newark crowd how effective he was in all areas of the game, while RJ Luis Jr. and Zuby Ejifor powered St. John's to a win at The Rock for the first time since February 13, 2014. Joined by Kevin Connelly of StormThePaint.com we recap the game and discuss what being ranked means, plus the big Xavier game on Wednesday.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
Stop me if you have heard this before, St. John's used a second half surge to win another game. No Deivon Smith had St. John's perplexed in the first half but as they have done all year, the halftime break seemed to fix all. Behind Aaron Scott, Kadary Richmond and RJ Luis Jr, St. John's erased a 15 point deficit, 14 point deficit in the 2nd half by turning up the defense and forcing Georgetown to play at their pace. St. John's is 15-3, 6-1 and off to their best start to a season since 1985-196.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb

St. John's was able to bounce back from a tough New Years Eve loss to Creighton with an eight point win at home against Butler. An awful shooting afternoon could not stop St. John's as they found a way in the 2nd half much like they have many times this season. Kadary Richmond asserted himself in the second half and made sure St. John's would leave victorious on a day they honored Lou Carnesecca on the weekend of what would have been his 100th birthday.I'm joined by Zach Braziller of the NY Post to discuss and break it all down.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
The Red Storm opened up conference play in Queens on Wednesday with a resounding 89-61 win. It was the most complete 40 minutes St. John's has played all year, and considering the fast starting DePaul team this season, it was a confidence building performance. Led by Kadary Richmond and RJ Luis, St. John's dismantled DePaul in the paint and took away their greatest weapon. Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
St. John's kicked off their season playing the Fordham Rams for the 91st time in program history, and they left no doubt. A dominating 92-60 win, that allowed Rick Pitino to empty the bench and showcased a ferocious offense. In front of a Sold Out Carnesecca Arena, St. John's kicked off it's season with a bang. Rick Pitino has his backcourt for the 24-25 season!
Rick Pitino and Saint John's added a pair of dynamic, versatile guards from the transfer portal in Seton Hall's Kadary Richmond and Utah's Deivon Smith. Will the duo help the Red Storm get back into the NCAA Tournament, or does the team need more shooting in order to compete in the Big East?Virginia struck on a trio of transfers this past week: San Diego State forward Elijah Saunders, Florida State point guard Jalen Warley, and Duke's TJ Power. Power could be a breakout candidate as a floor spacing big man, while Saunders and Warley each feel tailor-made for Tony Bennett's system: is it all enough for the Cavs to finish third in the ACC?We close the show with our first 2024 NBA draft profile of the season, discussing the strengths, weaknesses, and draft range for former Virginia forward Ryan Dunn.Join the Locked On College Basketball Discord: https://discord.gg/bsKxDp8Qqb Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
St. John's needed to hit two home runs after their first few additions, and on Monday and Tuesday this week they hit back to back dingers. Deivon Smith, one of the best guards in the portal, a lightning fast play maker from Utah committed to Rick Pitino and St. John's on Monday. Kadary Richmond, from Seton Hall, followed Smith the next day coming over the bridge and discarding his Seton Hall blue for St. John's red. This dynamic back court may be the best in the Big East and in the conversation for best in the country when paired with Simeon Wilcher and stud incoming freshman Jaiden Glover.I'm joined by the host of Tri-State College Basketball Podcast and former News 12 NJ Sports Anchor Bryan DeNovellis and Zach Braziller of the NY Post to break it all down from both the Seton Hall side of things and St. John's.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb

On the latest episode of Syracuse Sports, Brent Axe examines what Syracuse football and basketball still need out of the transfer portal now that the deadline for athletes to submit their names to it has passed. For football, Syracuse met with an intriguing option for backup quarterback last weekend. Brent tells you about him and the other positions of need still there. (NOTE: This podcast was recorded just before Christian Veilleux committed to Georgia State so he's no longer on Syracuse's radar, but the concept of the type of quarterback SU is looking for still applies. I also wanted to note that he visited and that Syracuse is still on the hunt for a backup QB) Mike Waters joins Brent to discuss SU basketball's potential wish list for the portal, including guards Kadary Richmond and Ken Davis Jr. and if SU would be OK if it stood pat with the roster it has now. Brent then reads texts from Syracuse Sports Insiders on what they feel both programs still need to add from the portal. On the latest episode of Syracuse Sports, Brent Axe opens by pondering a potential return to Syracuse basketball for former guard Kadary Richmond, who is in the transfer portal. What are the advantages and disadvantages of bringing Richmond back and could SU pull it off? Brent also opines on how Syracuse women's lacrosse just can't past a nemesis that has now beaten the Orange six straight times. Brent is then joined by former Syracuse quarterback Charley Loeb and syracuse.com's Emily Leiker to discuss SU football's backup quarterback situation. Loeb trains both Carlos Del Rio-Wilson and incoming freshman Jakhari Williams in his role with Quarterback Country. Loeb tells Brent and Emily about the development of both quarterbacks and who is ready to step up if SU starter Kyle McCord goes down. Loeb also talks about the buzz surrounding the program among SU football alums on the arrival of new Orange coach Fran Brown and tells a funny story about a text he got from the new SU boss. Syracuse Basketball missed out on transfer combo-guard Dakota Leffew. Adrian Autry's squad can use another scoring guard like Kadary Richmond, Wooga Poplar, and/or Ken Evans Jr. The Cuse need another depth big-man to go along with Eddie Lampkin and Naheem McLeod. And, the Orange also could use another shooter alongside Chris Bell.Jackson Holzer tells you what Syracuse can still do with its three open scholarships left on this edition of the Locked On Syracuse Podcast. Syracuse Basketball was named a way-too-early top-ten ranked team by The Sporting News. Should Adrian Autry's squad really be ranked that high thanks to the addition of Eddie Lampkin and JJ Starling and Chris Bell returning? Plus, Malik Mack, Kadary Richmond or Erik Reynolds would be excellent replacements for Judah Mintz. Jackson Holzer speaks to SyracuseOn247 Publisher Mike McAllister to discuss the offseason for the Orange on this edition of the Locked On Syracuse Podcast. Two weeks into the New Year, the first episode of TWITBE takes a look at the jumpstart of conference play, while taking a look at the landscape of BIG EAST Basketball, including a look back on UConn's national championship run in 2023. The BIG EAST Spotlight is on Seton Hall guard Kadary Richmond, who discusses the role the transfer portal has played in the landscape of college basketball over the past couple seasons.
