A generation later, the images of one of the worst scenes to ever take place in an NBA arena are still shocking. A cup full of liquid hurtling through the air, striking Indiana Pacers small forward Ron Artest, and setting off a powder keg - as coaches, security, members of the Pacers, and fans came to blows in the stands, the tunnel, and on the court itself. When the bad blood between the Pacers and rival Detroit Pistons boiled over in Auburn Hills, it was impossible to ignore the sight of mostly black players clashing with mostly white fans. And elements around the NBA used the ugly night, and fear that it caused, to force changes in the NBA dress code that could only be called draconian today. So Andscape senior writer David Dennis Jr. joins Clinton Yates to remember how it all went down, and explore how it changed the NBA forever. Learn more about your ad choices. Send us a textThis week in 2004 NASA cranked up the speed dial to an astonishing Mach 9.6—that's 7,000 mph—thanks to the experimental X-43A scramjet aircraft. Unlike traditional rockets, this futuristic wonder didn't rely on onboard oxygen; it sucked in atmospheric air as fuel, reaching record-breaking speeds and paving the way for some thrilling possibilities. We're talking hypersonic missiles that can outmaneuver anything in sight, a cost-effective boost for space access, and one day, maybe even hypersonic passenger flights (NYC to Tokyo in under two hours, anyone?). We're ready, but we might want to strap in.
Azucar sits down with Ron Artest Sr to talk basketball, mental health and the REIN collaboration with THE ARTEST FOUNDATION.
A common meme or satire of beauty pageants is the contestant's answer of world peace in the interview question. The greatest thing our society needs may indeed be peace, but nobody really thinks that it's going to come about by something inspired through a beauty pageant. It's not going to bring the world together in harmony. A while back, NBA basketball great Ron Artest, he was involved in a very serious brawl on court between the Indian Pacers and the

Joe just wants to get to Monday night in San Francisco when the Jets play the Niners. Jerry said he just doesn't know what the Mets are. Maybe they are just a .500 team. Peter Schwartz is in for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Mets losing to the Rockies. Peter explains how everyone in his house except him is a Mets fan. Mets pitcher Luis Severino talked about his rough night in Colorado. The White Sox finally won a game after losing 21 straight. The Knicks made Jalen Brunson their 36th captain in team history. In the final segment of the hour, Pat Boyle pronounces ‘imbecile' weird. Jerry has a list of words he has a problem pronouncing, like ‘epitome'. Hour 4 We somehow ended up talking about Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg by accident and we played all the song parodies Al sang that the listeners wrote. Peter returns for an update but first we talked about some of the worst Jets losses of all time. The Mets lost to the lowly Rockies and the White Sox finally won a game after losing 21 straight. Jalen Brunson has been named the Knicks 36th captain in franchise history. The only one Joe B remembers is Willis Reed. Rob Saleh talked about fighting in practice. The Moment of The Day involves Joe B explaining the Pina Colada song by Rupert Holmes. In the final segment of the show, Jerry asks Joe B for some surprise teams for the NFL this season.

We kick off this week’s show fresh off the Celtics winning the NBA Championship, and Rob says Boston’s coaching and defensive effort is what got it done against Dallas. And despite a dominant season, Rob does NOT believe the Celtics will win it again, as he thinks that bigger teams from the West will break through and match up better against them then Dallas did. As for the Mavericks, Rob thinks this was a “one shining moment” for them, because teams like Denver and Minnesota will be back in the mix and will find a way to get better. We also discuss Jaylen Brown winning the Finals MVP, Doris Burke making history, and Joel Embiid saying that Boston is not the new dynasty in the NBA, because he will get healthy, and so will Milwaukee in the East alone. We also debate who teams like Philly and the Bucks can add to take that leap to eclipse Boston in the East. It’s also starting to look like Klay Thompson will hit free agency (if reports are to be believed) so Rob weighs in on where Klay would be the best fit. Plus with Charles Barkley announcing he’s retiring from television after next season, Rob believes it will change the landscape of sports television, especially NBA, because of his dynamic personality. Audio of the week is from Snoop Dogg who was in the booth for the Brewers and the Reds, and him calling baseball is electric! We also feature some classic audio from NBA history with Ron Artest shooting a huge three in the Lakers-Celtics finals 14 years ago, and a really inspiring Big Shot of the Week from a doctor in Africa. And it’s been 30 years this week since Rob was playing against the Knicks in the NBA Finals when the OJ chase broke out, which leads us to this week’s “Back to the Future” Price is Right game!

Tyrese Maxey's 50 burger falls a day before the anniversary of Joel Embiid's 59 point performance. Al Michaels and Ron Artest celebrate birthdays today, so Ray lives some of their famous, or, infamous moments.
(00:00-9:45) A Tyrese Maxey 50 Burger and an NFL look around coming off an Eagles bye week! After watching the Cowboys and the 49ers beat up on their opponents, Andrew wants to know if everyone is feeling better about the Eagles, or still have some doubts. (10:06-29:25) Andrew and Ray give Maxey his props and reflect on his early career-arc including the multiple fake trade packages he's already been in, which quickly turns into a Maxey love affair. (32:09-38:52) Andrew comes back to the Eagles and evaluates the teams they've beaten juxtaposed to the 49ers and Cowboys beating up on poor teams. (40:38-51:13) Ray opens a vault that has a little bit of everything. A look back at Embiid's 59 point performance, and some memorable moments for two birthday boys, Al Michaels and Ron Artest. (54:50-1:12:33) Choonis revisits his overarching topic of the day and has fans weigh in on the phone lines: Do you have any doubt in the back of your mind about the Eagles? The fellas don't feel 1000% confident in the Eagles, but compared to everyone else in the NFL, the Birds just might be the least flawed team. (1:15:50- 1:34:08) Does the thought of Aaron Nola going to the Braves change how you feel about resigning him? Andrew opens the phonelines to fans who are still skeptical about the Eagles. (1:37:20-1:47:27) The love for Maxey is well deserved, do we love him more because he's homegrown? Andrew doesn't think so, but most of the callers and fans seem to feel more of a bond to a drafted player who comes up with the organization. (1:47:37- 1:56:25) Andrew and Ray go around the league and give a big congratulations to the Dallas Cowboys for beating stalwart of the NFL Tommy Devito and the New York Giants. (2:21:18-2:47:58) The fellas look at power rankings in both the NFL & NBA and it looks like Philly is on top of both sports with 8-1 record for each team. Is Tyrese Maxey the most unanimously loved athlete in Philly? Andrew and Ray close the show with thoughts on the Sixers remaining cast and a few jabs at Penn State's inability to win the big game.

From 'DA's New York Accent' (Subscribe Here), The hiring of Rick Pitino has put St. John's basketball back in the headlines. The last time they had sustained success was under Mike Jarvis. In this episode, we explore Jarvis' rollercoaster tenure, filled with extreme highs and dramatic lows. Jarvis restored winning to Queens from '98-'02 with rugged teams featuring NBA star Ron Artest, and college standouts Erick Barkley and Lavar Postell. Those teams won the Big East Tournament and went to the Elite 8, but also brawled with one another. Jarvis discusses how the NCAA began hounding the program and the critics grew louder. He talks about ways he would have handled things differently, and how he wishes he would've challenged the wins that were vacated. This is the story of the awful behavior Patrick Ewing witnessed from fans in high school to the insane in-fighting of the Big East title. Farshad Dehbozorgi (AKA E5quire) is an entrepreneur, DJ, Music Producer, and Lawyer. He first broke out in the music scene when he was in High School DJing at Woody's Wharf in Orange County, California. E5quire attended Pepperdine University where he earned his law degree while DJing through school to pay his bills. Upon graduation, he became a sports agent working with athletes like Ron Artest. In this episode, the boys do a deep dive into E5quire's story and how Farshad first got started as an entrepreneur. His multi-talented personality has led him down a very non-traditional path. He shares how he blew up as a DJ for his remix of a Twenty One Pilots song that he had never actually released. He also shares with us his unique journey through law school and how he was able to balance his school work with being a DJ. Farshad shares how he used his law degree to become a sports agent, even though he had not planned to do that initially, and how that experience led him to finally taking the BAR and becoming a Lawyer. Finally, Brock and Will share some of their camping stories with E5quire. Shane Battier jumps on Forgotten Seasons to relive a memorable year in H-Town. This 2009 Rockets squad won 53 games and finished as a 5 seed in a loaded Western Conference. Their playoffs starting 5 was Aaron Brooks, Battier, Ron Artest, Luis Scola and Yao Ming. T-Mac's season is cut short in February due to microfracture knee surgery. In the postseason, Houston rallied past Brandon Roy and Portland in Round 1 to set up an epic 7-game WCSF vs the Lakers. Battier was the primary matchup vs Bean, which, as he explains, comes with both mental and physical tests.
