On this week's episode of And Colossally That's History! Matt Bishop and Richard Williams look back on the life and career of Eddie Jordan, who very sadly died of cancer, on March 20th this year, at the age of 76. For the generation who grew up on F1 in the 1990s and 2000s, Eddie was the most charismatic team boss in the game, and it was hard not to cheer for his underdog squad when they landed several big punches on the chins of their much better funded rivals, as well as the occasional knockout blow. But, having built an F1 team from scratch on a minimal budget and then not only kept it afloat, but turned it into a grand prix-winning (and at one point championship-challenging) outfit, should EJ be considered F1's biggest overachiever? As Matt and Richard attempt to answer that question, they look back over Eddie's time in F1, with Matt - who was good friends with Eddie - sharing amusing and poignant anecdotes and stories that perfectly illustrate a fun-loving, larger than life character with a steely inner core.Get 75% off your first month when you join The Race Members' Club on Patreon today - we even have an F1-only tier! 19-year-old phenom and current Hendrick Motorsports driver Corey Day joins Davey Segal (8:55) to discuss his transition from dirt to asphalt and adjustment to stock cars. They also discuss how he's preparing for Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend, going back somewhere for a second time, how the Truck and Xfinity car differ, leaning on crew chiefs Brian Pattie and Adam Wall for advice and the clear distinction that's been made of him being a HMS driver - NOT a development driver. Day also dives into how Jeff Gordon recruited him to Hendrick and the funny story that resulted in Gordon having to prove it was actually him on the other end of their text conversation, how he's keeping his new busy schedule straight, why live pit stops and racing as a profession have been extra difficult to adjust to and his beginnings on two wheels and transition to dirt in California. Plus, how he deals with being heralded as a "generational talent" and "phenom" of sorts, why he loves the haters writing him off, how it feels to have the support and belief from Kyle Larson, Gordon and other racing legends, what his goals are for the rest of this year and more, including why he's such a Taco Bell lover. Papa Segal also pays homage to the late Eddie Jordan and Davey recaps Darlington while looking ahead to Bristol.
Eddie Jordan has been labelled as a ‘maverick' and a ‘showman' but behind all the brouhaha was a very astute businessman who loved his racing. We take a look at the ‘man behind the mask' in our tribute to Eddie who died last month. We also look at EJ the racing driver and also what happened to the team after he sold it on. Goodwood Members Meeting takes place later in April and we highlight some of the things to look out for.
We pour one out for Eddie Jordan, cover every angle on Yuki Tsunoda's new main character energy, reflect on the Australian and Chinese Grands Prix and the fortunes of the rookies first showings.

Otmar also shares his thoughts on how fellow TP Christian Horner has managed the situation. The lads look at our world (of sport and investment) and ask the very scary question.. “Is the established narrative accurate?" Eddie Jordan, Ratcliffe, religion in sport both serious and comical, PE heading into a wall, the overvaluation of Apple+. And OnlyFans. So so much.
There's a famous saying - “In F1, you are either giving pain or taking it.” And after just two rounds of the World Championship there are plenty of examples of that. We'll dig into what's gone wrong for Liam Lawson and why, after just two races, he will no longer be Max Verstappen's team-mate at Red Bull. And we'll look ahead, based at some of the key talking points from China: We'll get into Oscar Piastri's complete weekend, Lando Norris's “will they or won't they work?” brake dramas. Where do Ferrari go from here after a sprint win and a double disqualification? Why George Russell will keep up the scoreboard pressure on the leaders.. while his rookie team-mate Antonelli proves he is no slouch either. Why four penalty points don't make prizes for Jack Doohan. And we say goodbye to the inimitable Eddie Jordan. With James in the studio are Motorsport and Autosport F1 correspondents Jake Boxall-Legge and Ronald Vording, who was one of the team in Shanghai that broke the Lawson story.
