In today's episode, we're speaking with Kevin McNamara, CEO & Founder of Parallel Domain, a synthetic data generation and simulation platform that's raised over $43.9 Million in funding. Here are the most interesting points from our conversation: Parallel Domain's Core Offering: Kevin explained that Parallel Domain provides simulation software used to develop, train, and test AI, particularly for real-world applications like autonomous vehicles, drone delivery, and security systems. From Pixar to Parallel Domain: Kevin's journey from working on animated movies at Pixar, to video games at Microsoft, and eventually to Apple's autonomous systems project provided the foundation for Parallel Domain. The Early Days and First Customer: The company's early days were marked by ideation, prototyping, and the first significant breakthrough—a contract with Nio, a Chinese electric car company, which provided essential initial revenue and traction. Expanding Beyond Autonomous Vehicles: Although initially focused on autonomous vehicles, Parallel Domain now supports industries like agriculture, supply chain, and robotics, showcasing the broad applicability of its simulation technology. Shifting to Product-Led Growth: Kevin revealed that Parallel Domain is transitioning to a product-led growth strategy, including the introduction of a free trial tier, making their advanced simulation technology more accessible. The Vision for the Future: The long-term vision for Parallel Domain is to become the go-to platform for any developer working on vision or perception-enabled technologies, with plans to expand into broader applications like retail, manufacturing, and beyond.   //   Sponsors: Front Lines — We help B2B tech companies launch, manage, and grow podcasts that drive demand, awareness, and thought leadership. www.FrontLines.io The Global Talent Co. — We help tech startups find, vet, hire, pay, and retain amazing marketing talent that costs 50-70% less than the US & Europe.  www.GlobalTalent.co

We're covering the La Jolla quest for independence from San Diego, the controversy in Poway of a fitness center at The Farm, and Todd Gloria declaring Juneteenth a paid holiday for San Diego workers. It's Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Here's what John Riley thinks: La Jolla Independence The rich people in La Jolla want to secede! They want to leave San Diego. What could be driving them to do this? Life Time Fitness has a plan that will change the landscape of the commercial and open space plan for The Farm. But wait, didn't Kevin promise there would be no changes to the plan if the voters approved? The NIMBYs in Poway are now complaining about a violation of democracy and the added traffic and pollution from customers going in and out. The drama! Todd Gloria declares Juneteenth a Paid Holiday for San Diego City Workers The more I learn about Juneteenth the more I realize this is America's Independence Day #2. After an early season illness threatened to derail those expectations, Kalkbrenner and the Bluejays have stormed back into the BIG EAST and national spotlight. In the thick of the BIG EAST regular season title run, Creighton is No. 18/19 in the national polls winning eight of its last nine games. The BIG EAST Focus shines on BIG EAST Executive Associate Commissioner Stu Jackson, who discusses how the race to the top of the BIG EAST standings is tighter than ever with only two weeks to go in the regular season. Also, with changes across collegiate athletics within the transfer portal and NIL taking center stage, the BIG EAST is constantly improving and evolving. Jackson takes the time to discuss these changes and the effects they have on college basketball.FOX & Sporting News Analyst Mike DeCourcy gives a view on the national perspective. A dozen years ago next week, before the new version of the BIG EAST came into being, Providence's Marshon Brooks dropped 52 points on Notre Dame. Recruiting, the transfer portal and NIL are making the profession more challenging by the day. Anderson provides his take on his team and the day-to-day life of being a BIG EAST head coach.FOX Analyst Andy Katz gives a view on the national perspective. March Madness is officially just around the corner, but there is still much to decide in terms of regular season and conference tournament champions. In addition, the process of seeding the NCAA Tournament field will be particularly difficult this season with the strengths of conferences such as the BIG EAST, Big 12 and Big 10. Rothstein points out the outstanding seasons both Providence and Marquette are putting together, despite low expectations by outsiders prior to the season.
