Liverpool head coach Arne Slot says his team has a point to prove after their 1–0 Champions League defeat to Galatasaray. Ahead of a crucial clash with relegation-threatened Tottenham on Super Sunday. 00:00: INTRO 00:20: Alisson injury- I'm not 100% sure on Alisson but I'm hopeful 00:28 Spurs at Anfield last season: It wasn't only special for me, a lot of people too. Big difference where we are now, clear and obvious but it's a great memory but I am looking for to Sunday's game, playing at Anfield is always something to look forward to. We have a point to prove, lost the last two league and CL games." 1:34 On season aims: Sometimes we need a bit of luck, like the last-16 last year, penalties, so close to beating PSG adn they went on to win it. So the margins are small and we have to fight for them to make them bigger and bigger every day." 3:20 Arne Slot on setting the bar high from last year: “It's always been high, that is a good thing. We are a top club, the bar should be high by the people around us. Last season we achieved one of things we wanted to achieve. Won the league, close to winning the Carabao Cup. Now we're still in two cups, CL and FA Cup and we compete." 4:30 More team news: Chiesa, I expect he feels better, he is able to train with us today."on Isak he still With the rehab team still not with the team yet." 4:54 1500 wins at Anfield if Liverpool win on Sunday: “It only pushes me and us, we hold ourselves to the highest standards. We are in a lucky situation we are at a club where we can win something." 6:19 Slot on Gravenberch contract: “So that is our model, young players who join a great environment with so many great people working here to improve those players” 7:35 Slot on Spurs: games are more open as PSG v Chelsea was, two teams want to attack and press and that is not so common any more that two teams want that style against each other. I expect a different Spurs setup to a year ago." 8:38 Slot on Spurs: I think if Spurs are 1st in league everyone would still expect us to win at Anfield. Same as Man City, Arsenal...we are expected to win at home. We can our 1500th game at home, so expectations come from history, we can win a lot of games, home games, doesn't matter who we face, expectations are always sky high. 10:02 Players underperforming: "I am really looking forward to playing twice at home now with the support from the fans that can make a massive difference." 12:32 Slot on Kerkez: “he is always aggressive in his duels and some teams can be really smart if a player is on a yellow to create an atmosphere where he can get a second. So we had Robertson so we didn't risk it.” 14:21 poor results for Premier League clubs in the Champions League this week: margins were quite small from what I saw, Arsenal margins were small and maybe it's weirdly but I didn't see 3-0 coming for Man City v Real Madrid. PSG v Chelsea, people told me Chelsea were involved in that game, so jumping to conclusions after one game usually not what I wanted to do." 16:37 Slot on Ngumoha: "Rio is a player who could start for us. He's been coming in for longer spells. He's definitely an option to start one of the three games in the coming week." 18:19 End @HaytersTV – Football Up Close. A lively preview that doubles as a pressure gauge on Slot. They agree he cannot throw the cup, because a loss instantly wipes out any goodwill from the previous win. You also get a quick predicted XI discussion, who must start (Jones, Kerkez, youngsters like Rio and Neone), who needs a rest (Wirtz, Hugo), and the wider point: Liverpool need a proper statement win to rebuild confidence, especially against low blocks and physical sides. Not all doom and gloom, but plenty of concern. Lynch assesses the standout displays and the worrying drop-offs, from Szoboszlai's relentless influence and set-piece threat to Alisson's costly moments. Welcome dear listener to First State Kopites. The podcast of the Premier League Champions. We are going to review Chelsea last Saturday, with the benefit of few days distance. I'm Paul and today I am joined by Daz and Sean. Away at Chelsea - xG 1.0 (0.11 first half) to 1.95 (0.64). 4 big chances to their 2.Immediate reaction vs. the chance to watch it again. How different were the narratives versus what actually happened:Start well - Gakpo, Bradley, Kerkez, Isak, Szobo, Salah all look brightGoal 15th - VVD covering Malo Gusto, after Macca has been tricked by Caicedo. Fluidity was affected by the goal. Also, just an incredible strike by CaicedoWe need to realize that Georgi is left footed! Ball gets turned over after he tries to kick with his right.Big chance for Szobo from Cody at 19; Isak header from Salah at 44, 46 big chance for Salah, after Gakpo, Wirtz combo. 53 - Salah blazes over in 4 on 4 - Isak and Gakpo in space. 65 - Isak is free when Salah shoots over.First really dangerous moment from Chelsea - Fernandes header on 80. 84 - 2 shots and decent saves from Marmadashvili. A pummelling someone said. 91 Fernandez header. Robbo less solid defensively?Last 10, more chaotic, though the main danger came from the one chance where Endo and Robbo could have done much better. We also have a couple of chances at the end (Szobo and Jones). Some players seemed focused on winning others not sure - Endo left wingThemes from elsewhere:Much chat about an overload on the left - not much evidence of it, save the Bradley yellow. Gakpo makes us look relatively solid on the left.Subs - Curtis, Andy Robbo. Help moving forward. We also moved Szobbo to RB and Grav to CB. But their subs gave them some energy especially in the last 10VVD brought up the challenge they are facing managing the grief of Diogo's passing.Chelsea hate segment:Cole Palmer in a space suit? He is typical Chelsea, just the worstCucurella - what a Sh*tLavia (who has played about 3 games) tries to whip up the crowdAnthony Taylor watch - loves to kill our momentum8th minute - imagined foul by Konate kills our momentum24 - Garnacho goes down without contact 26 - Salah non-foul30 - Caicedo challenge on Dom, nasty, no card of course34 - Bradley - yellow for Cucurella goes down with some contact39 - Garnacho dive…. 45 goes down again without contact73 - hands in Isak's face 79 - Diabolical yellow on Szobo for more Cucurella nonsense82 - Foul by Malo Gusto on Gakpo - not given87 - gives a soft foul against Salah - guess who goes down (clue Garnacho has already gone off)5th best team in the league? We'll be back with a preview of the Manchester United game in quite short order. Hello Rank Squad! It's the first transfer focused episode of the summer, and we set out the stall for what's to come in some of the biggest deals. Set your stalls out, ready yourselves - because some of these ones will definitely become sagas, dragged on for months in negotiations. Jack starts things off by giving some love to Villarreal and the job that Marcelino has done with the Yellow Submarine, before we get down to business discussing the latest on the future of Florian Wirtz - the transfer that's likely to set the high bar for spending, if Bayer Leverkusen's star playmaker does depart the BayArena. Then it's on to Dean's list, where we chat through a host of names likely to be on the move, starting around the £25m mark and working our way up to long beyond the £100m boundary. There's chat about a host of players, including Dusan Vlahovic, Liam Delap, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Martin Zubimendi, Bryan Mbuemo, Xavi Simons, Viktor Gyokeres, Ebere Eze, Rodrygo, Benjamin Sesko, Alexander Isak and loads more. And then in Part Three, we take a look at which of the deals discussed might represent the best value for money in the market, trying to balance that impossible scale between risk and reward. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
