(Natalia Terfa) It's Christ the King/Reign of Christ Sunday. This day was created as an answer to nationalism, so it feels even more important to create space for this day now, as Christian nationalism is again on the rise. When algorithms and broken systems feel like they are running everything, what does it mean to take one day and push back? It's easy to miss in between helpings of turkey and mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving, or with the neighbors already setting up their Christmas lights and Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" playing on a loop on the radio, but at the very end of the church's year is a powerful and surprising celebration called "Christ the King" Sunday, or "The Reign of Christ" Sunday. And even though it has only been officially observed for less than a century [a short time in the sweep of two thousand years of Christian history], Christ the King Sunday taps into a theme that runs throughout the Scriptures and goes back to our ancient roots. Jesus is Lord... but his way of reigning is completely different from what the world expects of lords, kings, potentates, and emperors. Jesus is the Messiah, but the One whose kingdom comes through a cross. Jesus reigns, by serving with the washbasin and towel. It is a subversive idea, but maybe that's exactly what we need. In this episode, pastors Erica, Sarah, and Steve talk about the meaning, history, and scriptural roots of this day, and what it might mean for us in a culture that so often thinks power means being a bully.
Isaiah 36:1-3, 13-20; 37:1-7; then 2:1-4 This is a great example of what works with us as humans. Assyria comes to the gates, armed, with a history of winning, and challenges Israel. More than Israel, Assyria challenges King Hezekiah and God. Assyria challenges the faith of the people of God in the God who has delivered them in the past. Assyria is…

On this episode of Baseless Claims Podcast we discuss how Tyler went in for a haircut, and came out with that 6th grade "back-to-school" dew. Begs the question... how do you tell your hairdresser that they messed up bad? Next, we learn of the potential crime that was admitted to Tory by a man at a bar. What is the moral route when a drunk man seems excited to do crime to a longshoreman, and then tells you? He is explaining that God's way of salvation has always been “by grace, through faith” Ephesians 2:8, 9. He has used Abraham as his illustration.

On Christ the King/Reign of Christ Sunday, all other allegiances should be thrown into question. The Sunday was created in the middle of political upheaval, and so it has great meaning for times like these.

Seemingly since the beginning of time, the hit single has been elusive, yet a huge source of pride for artists. As the industry has moved from radio spins to YouTube views to Instagram “likes”, what makes a hit these days? This panel will discuss how to determine success and how artists can find it in today's music economy.Panellists biography Christopher “Deep” Henderson is a multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning songwriter and music producer whose hits include Jamie Foxx & T-Pain's “Blame It” along with a host of others from artists like 50cent with G-Unit, Trey Songz, Mario, Dru Hill, Jacob Latimore and others. It is designed to connect and empower the creative community, providing professional insights and front row seat views to the process as songs are built from the inspiration phase to the rough mix. He also takes the show on the road as he hosts song building master classes at various music conferences around the world and through partnerships with various non-profit and community serving charities.Henderson continues to work on both established and developing upcoming music projects.David “Click” Cox started his career as a member of the MMVA winning and JUNO nominated group, The Maximum Definitive.
