Lia also known as "Doña Junta" is a former graffiti artist turned street archivist. Doña Junta runs the social media page swapmeet_chronicles which started off as an idea to highlight every day cultural happenings growing up in a Mexican household. The concept developed into a blog in 2007 in which Doña Junta documented the streets of Los Angeles from graffiti, personal stories, events, abandoned places AND MORE. Today, swapmeet_chronicles (with nearly 4,000 followers) evolved into research on the history of our streets, architecture of buildings, and social issues such as mass incarceration and prison advocacy through photos and research driven feature stories. In 2020, Doña Junta with co-host Sabrina Calderon created a podcast called Beyond the Façade to further discuss these places in detail and interview people who also create content in similar realms. Doña Junta has combined her interest in architecture with some of her podcast episodes where she and her co-host discuss the historical issues surrounding these buildings. And this includes state carceral institutions - juvenile and adult - and the issues that have taken place there. Her interest in these institutional buildings was also represented at the Slanguage exhibition: Ghosts of Our Youth: Abandoned Institutions and the Impact on Los Angeles Youth at Angels Gate Cultural Center in 2022. It included images of Juvenile Hall, alongside the video of her podcast discussion on how these institutions affected the youth that were there through the decades but particularly in the 80s and 90s.

Hear all about his back story with Dave aka SLAM, and how they met and reconnected during COVID. PLUS SAYNOSLEEP's storied history in a life bombing and slinging on the streets of Chelsea and the East Village. More on Dopey: Dopey Podcast is the world's greatest podcast on drugs, addiction and dumb shit. Chris and I were two IV heroin addicts who loved to talk about all the coke we smoked, snorted and shot, all the pills we ate, smoked, all the weed we smoked and ate, all the booze we consumed and all the consequences we suffered. After making the show for 2 and a half years, Chris tragically relapsed and died from a fentanyl overdose. Dopey continued on, at first to mourn the horrible loss of Chris, but then to continue our mission - which was at its core, to keep addicts and alcoholics company. Whether to laugh at our time in rehab, or cry at the worst missteps we made, Dopey tells the truth about drugs, addiction and recovery. We continually mine the universe for stories rife with debauchery and highlight serious drug taking and alcoholism. We also examine different paths toward addiction recovery. We shine a light on harm reduction and medication assisted treatment. We talk with celebrities and nobodies and stockpile stories to be the greatest one stop shop podcast on all things drugs, addiction, recovery and comedy!

Today we have with us Dr. Robert Ciprian, the author of Heal Profoundly: A Graffiti Thug's Transformation to Holistic Doctor, a memoir of Dr. Ciprian journey of healing and dedication to be of service, that tells the story of his spiritual journey from being a gang member to having a 20+ year successful career in medicine. Dr. Robert grew up on the rough streets of Queens, New York, where he dropped out of high school to become a graffiti artist and member of a violent street gang. As a gang member, Dr. Robert was stabbed and shot at dozens of times, had his teeth knocked out, head split open, and is lucky to be alive today. Up until his early twenties, Dr. Robert also suffered from poor health — allergies, asthma, bronchitis, digestive problems, and a weak immune system were normal for him, and there were times he spent weeks in bed because of illness. Due to his poor health and destructive behavior, Dr. Robert seemed destined to achieve little in life until he decided to seek more out of it. He joined medical school to learn better ways to treat his medical problems and has been studying various healing, energetic and spiritual modalities for 25+ years. https://healprofoundly.com Visit Sense of Soul at www.mysenseofsoul.com Do you want Ad Free episodes?
