TextMatteusevangeliet 5:3-10MusikL'aube – Anouar BrahemProducent Helena Andersson HolmqvistMoskit medialiv@sverigesradio.se

The Dallas Stars grind out a 2–1 shootout win over the Colorado Avalanche in a game that felt like a playoff preview. Ryan and James break down a tightly contested matchup where both teams canceled each other out offensively, but Jake Oettinger stepped up in a massive way. From defensive structure to special teams struggles, this game highlighted both the strengths and concerns for Dallas moving forward. They also discuss Lundkvist's performance, the Stars' power play issues against Colorado, and what this result means in the standings.

In this Summer Coolers edition of NHL Wraparound, hosts Neil Smith and Vic Morren dive deep into the state of the Dallas Stars, a team that continues to knock on the door but can't quite break it down. After a heartbreaking third straight Conference Final loss, the Stars made a surprising offseason move—replacing head coach Peter DeBoer with Glen Gulutzan, signaling a reset without dismantling their core.Dallas finished the 2024–25 regular season with 102 points and were one of the West's most dangerous teams on paper. But after a Game 1 offensive outburst against Edmonton in the Conference Final, the Stars' scoring completely dried up. That collapse has left major questions about leadership, playoff preparedness, and whether the window to win with Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, and Matt Duchene is beginning to close. The episode covers offseason moves, the state of the blue line, the future of Jake Oettinger, and why the new coach might finally be what pushes this veteran-heavy team to the next level.IN THIS EPISODE:[00:00] Dallas Stars 2024–25 recap: Another deep run, same ending[00:38] Jim Nill wins GM of the Year again—but makes a major change[01:00] Glen Gulutzan replaces Peter DeBoer: Why now?[02:00] Veteran core aging: Benn, Seguin, Duchene[03:00] Free agent re-signings: Duchene, Benn, Blackwell, Bork, Lundkvist[03:45] Offseason additions: RFA Rodak Faksa returns, Nathan Bastian signs[04:15] Key departures: Mason Marchment, Matt Dumba, Cody Ceci[05:00] Offensive depth: Still dangerous despite losses[05:45] Defensive pairings: Heiskanen, Lindell, Harley, Laaksonen, Burns[06:00] Goaltending: Oettinger & DeSmith remain the tandem[07:00] Miro Heiskanen's return and Brent Burns' arrival[08:00] Rantanen's revenge against Colorado: A defining moment[09:00] Why the scoring collapsed vs. Edmonton[10:00] Was DeBoer's message stale? Can Gulutzan change the tone?[11:00] Final thoughts: The Stars are a contender—but for how much longer?KEY TAKEAWAYS:The window is closing: Benn, Seguin, and Duchene are aging, and the opportunity to win with this core is narrowing.Jim Nill's bold coaching change to bring back Glen Gulutzan—whom he originally let go—shows humility and a desire to fix culture from the top down.Scoring vanished in the Conference Final, and questions remain about why so many top-tier players underperformed.Jake Oettinger is still one of the league's top young goaltenders, but he'll need to carry the load again in 2025–26.Miro Heiskanen's return to full health, along with the quiet addition of Brent Burns, could be critical for defensive stability. The Central Division is loaded, with Dallas, Winnipeg, and Colorado all battling for top spots—but one of them is destined to go home early, again.RESOURCE LINKS:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgBj1LV0-DMfBhcRPSJZLjAX (Twitter): https://twitter.com/NHLWraparoundNeil Smith: https://twitter.com/NYCNeilVic Morren: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vic-morren-7038737/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nhlwraparound/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@nhlwraparoundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555451139787#NHL #Hockey #Podcast #DallasStars #GlenGulutzan #PeterDeBoer #JakeOettinger #JimNill #JamieBenn #TylerSeguin #MattDuchene #ColinBlackwell #NilsLundkvist #MavrikBourque #RadekFaksa #NathanBastain #MasonMarchment #MikaelGranlund #CodiCeci #EvgeniiDadonov #MattDumba #RoopeHintz #WyattJohnston #JasonRobertson #MikkoRantanen #SamSteele #OskarBack #MiroHeiskanen #EsaLindell #ThomasHarley #IlyaLyubushkin #LianBichsel #CaseyDeSmith

Jim Nill is at it again! In this special live edition of Starcastic Remarks, Ryan and Chris break down the blockbuster trade that sent Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci from San Jose to Dallas. How did the Stars manage to snag both without giving up key prospects? What impact will Granlund's versatility and Ceci's defensive depth have on the roster? Chris calls in mid-road trip from a very Texas location to share his hot takes, including why this deal might even top last year's Tanev trade. The guys dive into lineup possibilities, cap space gymnastics, and speculate on whether Jim Nill has more moves up his sleeve before the deadline. Plus: Instant reactions to Lundkvist's season-ending injury, how the Finnish Mafia keeps growing, and—yes—a surprise Buc-ee's cameo.

The Dallas Stars were shutout by the Winnipeg Jets 3-0 and one of the bigger storylines from the game was Nils Lundkvist. Lundkvist played a team least 8:43 seconds and only had a couple of shifts in the 2nd period. The Stars were essentially playing five defensemen, and when Pete DeBoer was asked about it, he gave an answer that may leave the impression Lundkvist is not a part of their playoff plans.
Nils Lundkvist is ready to take the next step and be in the lineup come the postseason. He has proven he can defend at a high enough level in the NHL worthy enough of being the partner with Ryan Suter.
Tyler Seguin rejoins the Dallas Stars after nearly a month off with an injury and scores in his return as the Stars take down Arizona by a final score of 5-2. He and Nils Lundkvist made big impacts in their return to the lineup, Lundkvist picked up two assists and played a fantastic game which hopefully keeps him in the lineup moving forward.

The Dallas Stars and Mike Modano nailed his statue that is now out front of the American Airlines Center. His signature flapping jersey as he carved his way up ice with the words Speed, Grace and Legend on the base perfectly sums up the legacy he left in Dallas.
The Dallas Stars stay in first place in the Central Division after a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets last night. They have won all three games this season against the Jets and have held them under two goals or less in all three matchups. Logan Stankoven made franchise history with a goal in his 3rd straight game, the first player to do that in the first week of their NHL career. He has provided a spark for Dallas and he's here to stay. The top line looked like themselves, Jason Robertson, Joe Pavelski and Roope Hintz all scored in the victory as things are starting to look up after a rough stretch. Part of that is the return of Nils Lundkvist who played over 13 minutes in his first game back and really never missed a beat. Handled the Jets physicality well and made plays when he needed too. Joey breaks down what he would like the defensive pairings to look like when Chris Tanev joins the team. To wrap up the podcast, we look at the month of March. The Stars will play 13 games in which nine of them come against teams that are not in the playoffs. The Stars have a chance to make up ground with Winnipeg having four games in hand and Colorado still hot on their tail. Matt Duchene has a huge four point night in a 9-2 win for the Dallas Stars over the Nashville Predators. The Stars dominated the Preds from start to finish, outshooting the Preds 18-1 in the first period while outscoring them 4-0. Wyatt Johnston had 3 points along with Tyler Seguin and Ty Dellandrea as Dallas flexed their muscles at Bridgestone arena. Jake Oettinger picks up his 7th straight win and did not even play the 3rd period. The Stars reached 200 goals for the season in just 54 games, the fewest amount of games since 1986-87. They have solidified themselves as the team to beat in the west maybe besides the Vancouver Canucks. The Stars did have dissapointing news coming out of the game. Defensemen Nils Lundkvist left the game early in the first after taking what appeared to be an elbow to the head and did not return. He was listed with an upper body injury and did not return to the game. Joey speculates what Dallas may have to do depending on the severity of the injury. To finish the episode off we look at the Stars next opponent, the Edmonton Oilers who are coming off a loss, but playing the best hockey of anyone else in the league over the last month. Connor Mcdavid and Leon Draisaitl are the key players to shut down obviously. Can the Stars scorching offense lead them to four straight victory's?Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The Dallas Stars battled over the weekend to take three out of the possible four points after a tough overtime loss to the New York Islanders last night. Jake Oettinger was out with the flu, so Scott Wedgewood had to make back to back starts and went save for save against Ilya Sorokin who's one of the best goalies in the NHL. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey recaps the weekend games between New York and New Jersey including the Stars great ability to bounce back after bad games. Wyatt Johnston, Jason Robertson, and Roope Hintz have provided a spark as a new line and thriving the more they play together. Even when the Stars are fatigued, they're finding way to muster up enough energy and effort to at least earn themselves a point. Nils Lundkvist returned to the lineup after Miro Heiskanen went down with an injury and he has made the most out of his return. He seems to be a lot more confident and poised with the puck. Also, he's using his legs and mobility to generate offense, he finished last night with four shots on goal and scored his 2nd of the season. The Stars would have to feel much better about their defense if Lundkvist is an every day player when Miro returns. Joey states that you have to accept that he will be out muscled and make mistakes here and there, but the improvements are promising. To finish off the episode, we revisit the possibility of Heiskanen joining the team on the road trip. He has yet to travel with the team, but he is inching closer everyday to return. Joey thinks having him back in the lineup against the Ducks on Thursday would be a gentle introduction back and set himself up nicely at home with a few more days of rest. Having Miro back will do wonders for the Stars in all facets of the game. Follow Joey on Twitter.com: twitter.com/joeythejet19 Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

Wyatt Johnston has gone 16 straight games without a goal, and just had four assists in the month of December. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey answers the burning question how can the Stars get Wyatt Johnston to produce again? Johnston has not played bad by any means, some would say he has been unlucky with some of the chances he's had to score lately. Joey thinks the Stars need to think about breaking up his line involving Jamie Benn and Evgenii Dadanov. The trio has scored 8 goals at five on five this season, just 3 ahead of the fourth line which does not have the same amount of fire power, plus they rank as one of the worst lines in all of hockey in Goals per 60 minutes. Joey believes adding someone like Sam Steel to join Benn and Johnston could help them be more effective, since the whole line has not been as effective since December. We have more news on Jake Oettinger who is now skating, but Pete DeBoer said he is farther away then closer. Joey speculates the possible return for Otter and why they are going to be extra cautious in the next few weeks. We also talk about Nils Lundkvist, Pete DeBoer had an interesting answer on dealing with the double edged sword of development and managing an asset. To wrap things up, a preview of the Montreal Canadiens and Shooting Star!Audio Clip: https://www.nhl.com/stars/video/deboer-on-the-new-year-s-eve-game-6344066576112Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The big question of the day is do the Dallas Stars trust Nils Lundkvist? Coming off a win over Winnipeg, Lundkvist did not play in the final 15 minutes of the 3rd period which is a cause for concern considering some of the strides he's made this season. Of course Miro Heiskanen is going to chew up most minutes in tight games, but Pete DeBoar is going with Ryan Suter, Jani Hakanpaa and Esa Lindell in close games. Is the emergence of Thomas Harley also the problem? Stars 19 year old prospect in the AHL, Lian Bichsel, is headed back to Sweden. Joey shares Jim Nill's conversation with Saad Yousef from the Athletic and why this could be a good thing in the long run for Dallas. Also, an update on the Texas Stars who are leading the Central Division in the AHL. Finally, we spotlight Joe Pavelski who leads the Stars in scoring this season at 39 years old. The future hall of famer is much more than a presence on the ice, he's leadership will leave a mark on the Stars for years to come.Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
