Since moving, Focus Church has grown to over 1000 in attendance with multiple locations. Advocating for a healthy church in every community, he is a young voice for church culture through the Church Multiplication Network. Passionate about leading worship, Ashton has written, recorded and released songs with her team, Focus Worship. In 2012, Mike Santiago planted Focus Church with his wife Ashton in metropolitan Raleigh, North Carolina. The church met in rented school facilities for several years until being told their rental agreement would expire in two weeks. Providentially, Focus was able to merge with an older, existing church whose facilities had been built in the 1980s. People expect different things from church facilities in 2018 than they did in the 1980s, however, so renovations were needed. Plus, there were items of deferred maintenance that needed to be addressed. In this episode Army veteran Mike Santiago shares his life after becoming a wounded warrior. Mike lives with a spinal cord injury. He was shot while on active duty in 2002. He’s currently involved with the Wounded Warrior games, Team Blacksheep, Honor Thread, Crossfit competitions as a competitor and a trainer, amongst much more. Mike has adapted to a life with not only a spinal cord injury but also life with PTSD. Mike shares with us how he rode through the difficult periods of his life and how he became an adaptive athlete. Mike Santiago is really involved with Team Blacksheep. Team Blacksheep focuses on promoting awareness of nonprofit organizations and resources for military men and women.
