This murder actually takes places JUST beyond the boundaries of the Acadia National Park. Leslie Spellman had never hiked alone. What a cruel twist of fate that she would be dead within 24 hours of doing so for the first time. Alison's son Welles was 24 years old on 9/11 and saved at least 12 people in the South Tower before it collapsed on him. She didn't know about his heroic actions that day until several survivors said that a stranger wearing a red bandana saved their lives, and she knew that it had to be her son who always carried one. He's famously been called “The Man in the Red Bandana” ever since.

On this day, 2,977 people were killed and it would of had been more if it wasn't for the heroic act of Nyack native, Welles Crowther. He was a man who worked on the 104th floor of the South Tower as an American equities trader. On that day, he put on his trademark red bandana and went to work.
