The Portland Timbers have redemption on the mind entering 2023 after missing the playoffs for the first time since 2016. At the helm of the club's soccer operations is Ned Grabavoy, a longtime MLS player turned essential member of the PTFC front office. Grabavoy brought the club-record Evander signing over the line in December, but it's otherwise been a relatively quiet offseason for the Timbers. What's next for Portland's roster, particularly that previously discussed pursuit of a striker? How has Grabavoy been adjusting to the top job after Gavin Wilkinson was fired in October? The Portland Timbers and Thorns front office has a new leader: former general counsel Heather Davis. Davis makes history as the club's first female CEO and the fifth woman leading a MLS front office, and she comes into the job with plenty of challenges after 16 consecutive months of scandal for PTFC. She will preside over the business and operations of the Timbers and — until Merritt Paulson sells — the Thorns. On this week's episode of Soccer Made in Portland, co-hosts Ryan Clarke and Chris Rifer sit down for an interview with Davis to discuss her vision for the club's future, how she squares the failures of Paulson and his past executives, her plans to reach out to Timbers and Thorns supporters, and her unique journey back home to Oregon. It's a rare occasion when a club-record signing isn't the top story. It's especially rare when it isn't in the top two stories, and it's not particularly close to the importance of either story above it. So it goes for those following the latest developments for PTFC. In a span of 24 hours, Merritt Paulson announced he is selling the Portland Thorns, and Thorns coach Rhian Wilkinson resigned after an investigation cleared her of an inappropriate relationship with a player. On this week's episode of Soccer Made in Portland, Chris and Ryan discuss the two major stories of the week around PTFC. Plus, Evander signing with the Timbers for a club-record fee! The results of the U.S. Soccer investigation. Gavin Wilkinson and Mike Golub's firings. Fans calling for the sale of both teams. Sponsors dropping out and applying pressure. Merritt Paulson stepping down as CEO. Vladimir Lenin once said there are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen. That rang true for the Portland Thorns and Timbers over a span of eight October days, and it's been a lot for fans and other stakeholders to process. No shortage of storylines from the second weekend of the Premier League season! Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan start with Tottenham's stoppage time comeback at Stamford Bridge that saw managers Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel pulled off each other. They debate whether Chelsea v Tottenham is now the Prem's best rivalry, highlight where it went wrong for Chelsea in the second half and credit Harry Kane and Spurs for a comeback that made Kalidou Koulibaly's worldie feel like it was a week ago. Manchester United fans won't be able to forget Saturday's capitulation at Brentford soon enough. Producer Dan Wong was absolutely buzzing seeing his Bees pull off one of the most unexpected upsets in Premier League history. Things are so bad at Old Trafford that the club are reportedly exploring their options to terminate Cristiano Ronaldo's contract. Jimmy & Craig explain how difficult that actually is and why it would be a bad move for United. Nottingham Forest's first Premier League win at home over Forrest's West Ham has Jimmy over the moon, and the crew debate whether Arsenal can keep up this form to contend for a Top 4 spot come the end of the season. This weeks questions from the group; What do you do with clients (I have 2 in particular) that every single day I have to chase up to send me their food diaries as part of daily accountability. It's been made clear at the start about their role, had a couple of reminders about it and yet it STILL doesn't change. It frustrates the shit out of me. There is a daily reminder for all clients that goes in my members group hub to send through their agreed daily accountability which is supposed to be done by the end of each day, as I allocate my schedule to go through them all first thing in the mornings. Should I continue to chase them or do I leave it and put the responsibility back on them? I just worry if I leave it, things spiral and part of my service is the daily accountability which the rest of my clients love. Looking to do seminars in the gym but how do I make "calorie counting" and "weight loss tips" sound exciting to get them to actually come? I don't want it to sound the same as every other pt x Any tip of educating gen pop on what online coaching is all about and how it's going to benefit them other that the usual talking about in on social media (posts, videos, social proof). I am wondering if there's other angles I should try as I don't it appeals to a lot of my current social media audience Do you think £150 a month for online coaching including monthly reviews is too cheap? currently on PTFC at puregym what markers do you use to decide to go to rent or a smaller gym with less time commitments? For a lot of my clients, the main thing holding them back from their desired results is how they spend their weekends. I'm very much an "everything in moderation" guy and I don't enjoy, nor do I think I have the right tell people what to eat, drink or do in their spare time. However I do know that sorting out their diet and drinking during weekends would help them towards their desired goals. I know that they are probably enjoying being able to go out again after being in and out of lockdowns, but do you have any other tips for how I can support them without being patronising.Any advice on client referrals please! Taking on online clients again soon so planning a referral scheme for current clients. Is it best to reward for sign ups only?

GUYS, we finally won a game. And we got a treat in Toronto coming so close, and losing a championship (again) in PKs.We talk S2 roster, selfless acts from aging heroes, beating Minnesota in glorious fashion, and the future of a number of our players. Christian Roldan, Gustav Svensson, Captain Alonso, the young Alex Roldan & Jordy Delem, along with the whole squad performed very well in the first half, and held their own in the second. Tons of opportunities greet these young players, as there is no significant signing suspected in the foreseeable future -- or at least before the closure of the May 5 transfer window. And, of course, the very next day we rematch LAFC as they open their brand new stadium in the heart of Los Angeles just south of USC. So, you know, hopefully we keep the wheels greased up.
