Your weekly guide to the music biz and how it all works. This week, Stu and Joe wade into share prices, EU Law, and German legal judgements... NO WAIT, COME BACK! These are all actually really interesting insights into modern pop music and how it connects with the humans who make it and enjoy it (honest.)Plus, TPOM Superfans get to hear Joe and Stu go deep – some may say too deep – into minor league Welsh football clubs seeking musical sponsorship opportunities. In this week's show:Universal Music Group is worth now than it was at the start of this year, based on its share price, and Spotify wobbled too… so why are people wondering whether music may not be making as much money as it could - and what is Spotify up to with independent labels?Welsh Ardal League South East football club Cwmbran Celtic have some new shirts for sale. Why are we telling you about this? Well, they feature some bands you might know…We need to talk about ‘Rubberz'. No, not erasers and – for our American listeners – not condoms either… it's an (allegedly!!!) AI-generated song that is becoming a cross-over hit. There's a lot going on with AI-music company Suno at the moment: a big legal ruling in Germany; its latest promises about how much it supports human artistry; and a very unexpected move into… vinyl! Two things that music publications BrooklynVegan, AltPress, Goldmine and Revolver have in common: first, they're all owned by Live Nation, which many people didn't realise. And second, “nearly all” their staff have reportedly been laid off. Is this the final nail in the coffin for music journalism?LISTENER LETTERS: after last week's Lock-In look at expensive Discogs records sales, James The Joiner gets in touch about his weirdly and unfortunately mis-pressed Blur LP – so will it be worth LOADS of money or NOT MUCH AT ALL? We investigate. And in the special post-show lock-in section just for our Patreon Superfans, Stu and Joe prop themselves up at the bar – in this week's bonus material: Mold Alexandra, Cefn Druids and Mumbles Rangers: what other rock/Welsh football sponsorships would you like to see? Who needs MTV when you can have Green Day TV? Although the lineup of artists featured is, well, quite a lot smaller than traditional music-TV channels…We've been talking about prediction-market Kalshi in recent episodes, and it turns out they're also betting on Spotify's financial results… [we also check if they were right.]===================================As ever, we welcome your feedback, emails and – in particular – any questions you might have about how the music biz works!Email us: thepriceofmusicpodcast@gmail.comSee you next week!Stuart and Joe======TPOM online: http://tpom.uk/Support The Price of Music on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/ThePriceofMusicFollow Stuart on X - @stuartdredgeFollow The Price of Music on X - @PriceofMusicpodFor sponsorship opportunities, please email - joe@musically.com

#celticfc #celticsoul #podcastDublin Celtic Fan, Thomas Moran joins More than 90 Minutes Editor Andrew Milne to talk all things Celtic and about his recent fundraiser for LauraLynn. Celtic fans came together to thank LauraLynn Ireland's Children's Hospice for the care they gave to his daughter Penny before she sadly passed away. Thomas opened up on his mental health after the loss of Penny and the impact of the counselling provided by the charity to him and how a bus and boat to Glasgow and Celtic Park has had such a positive effect on his mental well being. The Bhoys also chat about the state of play over the summer months at Celtic as they wait to get back to Glasgow when the competitive season kicks off on Monday 03 August. Thomas was in Tolka Park for the Celtic v Shelbourne game recently and praised Celtic for visiting a Woman's refuge in Dublin which is supported by the Celtic FC Foundation and Crumlin Children's Hospital during their time in the Irish capital. With so many things right at Celtic how has Dermot Desmond and those he has running the club got it so wrong? Former Celtic Captain, Paul Lambert has now echoed the views of the Celtic support. The club needs to shake up and modernise which is what the club's fan base want and deserve. Under Dermot Desmond's micro management style modernisation of OUR club will not happen. The bhoys also go down memory lane to past visits to Dublin to see Celtic over the years and the special memories that spring back to mind when Celtic have come over to Ireland. Please Subscribe to our independent Celtic Fan YouTube ChannelCeltic Fanzine TV / celticfanzinetv– Hit the Alarm so you never miss an episode, Leave a Commentand Please share. The Podcast is available on Audio across all platforms includingSpotify & Apple. How to Lead a Premier League Football Club: Paul Barber OBE on Leadership, Governance, and Growing the Women's Game This week's guest is Paul Barber OBE, Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman of Brighton & Hove Albion and non-executive director at Women in Football. Paul has spent over 30 years in the game, working across the FA, EFL, Premier League clubs, and MLS with Vancouver Whitecaps. In this conversation, he opens up about what it actually takes to lead a modern football club – from managing pressure and making hundreds of decisions a month, to building culture across two sites and being visible to every member of staff. This is a grounded, honest masterclass on leadership, governance, allyship, and long-term thinking in football. What You'll Discover: Why football clubs are small businesses with huge impact Behind the Premier League spotlight, most clubs run with relatively small off-field teams, working seven days a week across stadium and training ground. How corporate skills transfer to elite sport Paul's years at Barclays gave him rigorous training in planning, budgeting, management, and people development. Composure, pressure and the 'acting skills' of a Football CEO Results swing, league tables change, pressure intensifies. Paul explains how he's learned to stay calm externally even when he feels exactly like the fans internally — and why consistency, perspective, and responsibility to his staff shape how he shows up on matchday and in crisis. Building Europe's first purpose-built women's stadium Paul unpacks Brighton's bold plan to invest £75–80 million in a purpose-built stadium for their women's team — designed through a female performance lens and a different audience profile. He explains why this is both the right thing for athletes and a long-term business play, and how it can set a standard for other clubs. Humour as a strategic leadership tool (with Jeff Mostyn) Through stories of former AFC Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn — including hiding under a boardroom table and cutting tension in Premier League meetings — Paul shows how humour can defuse conflict, build relationships, and keep people going through intense periods like COVID. Paul shares three practical tips for building a career in football Paul closes with three simple, powerful principles for anyone who wants to work in football and much more! On this episode, Ted opens up about the reality of rebuilding two women's teams at once, what he has learned, and why he is genuinely excited about the window they are putting together this summer. Then Patrick and Ted break down the Champions League final, making the case that Arsenal were far better than the result suggests and that PSG won it with whisker thin margins. Is Morgan Rogers the right fit for Arsenal? They dig into the data and explain why the price tag does not make sense. Ted then gives his take on why Iraola is a perfect fit for Liverpool, why Alonso was never going to work there, and why Senesi may be following him through the door at Anfield. Enjoy! This week, NK News Correspondent Jooheon Kim joins the podcast to discuss a North Korean soccer team's rare trip to the South. The Naegohyang Women's Football Club made the journey for the AFC Women's Champions League semifinals, marking the first visit by a DPRK sports delegation in nearly eight years and the first by a North Korean soccer team in 12 years. He also discusses Naegohyang's semifinal victory over Suwon FC Women, which took place in heavy rain before more than 5,700 spectators, and the political controversy surrounding the match. Later, Jooheon looks at Naegohyang's victory over Japan's Tokyo Verdy Beleza in the final and examines the sanctions questions raised by Naegohyang's $1 million prize money. About the podcast: The North Korea News Podcast is a weekly podcast hosted by Alannah Hill exclusively for NK News, covering all things DPRK — from news to extended interviews with leading experts and analysts in the field, along with insight from our very own journalists.
