We will be live from the Benz this morning for the conclusion of the Atlanta United 2 match against Inter Miami II. Join Madison Crews and me for midgame pregame coverage starting at 10:50 followed by the resumption of the match in the 25th minute at 11am. Listen on soccerdownhere.mixlr.com. Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse.Atlanta United was lacking in their 1-1 draw with Dallas on Saturday night. They had more control and possession, but the final pass wasn't there consistently enough as the team had some of it's lowest outputs for shot created actions and key passes this season. Perhaps that was down to Alexey Miranchuk's adductor injury that forced him to come off the bench, he nearly won the match late with a cross to Jamal Thiare that was headed wide. Tristan Muyumba was brilliant on the ball and defensively in the match, a deserving Man of the Match in the midfield. We'll see what is taken away from the night and what is built upon this week as the Five Stripes prepare to host New England next Saturday afternoon. We'll have Training Ground Dispatch on Tuesday and Thursday this week to break everything down. Toronto played their best game of the season last night on Sunday Night Soccer as they drew 1-1 with Miami. Great goals from Bernardeschi and Messi late in the first half. Vancouver and San Diego are taking control in the Western Conference after nice wins on Saturday. Kansas City got their first win since last September in a 2-0 win over St. Louis in Kerry Zavagnin's first match in charge. San Jose destroyed DC on the anniversary of the first ever match in league history, Josef Martinez turned back the clock for another hat trick to add to his record setting tally in MLS.Trinity Rodman scored in her return to the USWNT, leading a 2-0 win over Brazil at SoFi Stadium in LA. They'll play again tomorrow night. The US U17 women earned qualification to the World Cup in Morocco later this year after a 7-0 win over El Salvador in qualifying.Southampton became the earliest team to be relegated in Premier League history and are on pace to have the lowest point total ever. Ivan Juric was sacked this morning after winning one league match in his 100+ days in charge. In Brazil, the federation has banned players from standing on the ball in matches. Memphis Depay, Neymar, Gabigol, and others have criticized the decision. Players who now stand on the ball during a game will get a yellow card and the ball will be turned over to the opponent via a goal kick. Yes, the move is a taunt. Don't like it? Don't let players have the opportunity to do it. Want to get back at them? You'll have your chances in the match. Silliness all the way around. More Espresso tomorrow on the SDH Network, presented by Oglethorpe University.

Hey, soccer fans! It was a bizarro Wednesday on the American soccer landscape. In Major League Soccer, we saw the Chicago Fire jump out to a quick 3-0 lead vs. conference rival CF Montreal and hold on for the victory. Not to be outdone by young stars Georgios Koutsias and Brian Gutierrez, Xerdan Shaqiri found his finishing touch. Tune in as our host breaks down the team play and goals (including Shaqiri's stunner), and analyzes whether the Chicago Fire - your Men in Red - have turned a corner. In the second half of the show, Nick previews the Fire's next matchup: a beleaguered and battered Toronto FC. The reds to the north are without Italian star Bernardeschi, and plenty of other players are sidelined with injuries. The Fire's hot streak of catching opponent's at their weakest continues, but can they convert it to another three points? Stay tuned. To wrap the show, Nick also comments on the play of the USMNT in the Gold Cup, after an upsetting loss to Panama in the semi-finals. Even though the USA brought their "C Team," the expectation was still to win the tournament. Listen in as we discuss the player pool depth and where US Soccer Federation (USSF) needs to continue to build the program. Twitter - Facebook - Spotify - YouTube

It's another all action pod after Canada held their own against Uruguay in Bratislava in Tuesday's friendly, the boys channel Bob Ross to paint a rosy picture for CanMNT ahead of Qatar 2022. Questions fly around who will complete a Canadian midfield that is certain to include Stephen Eustáquio, but will Atiba Hutchinson, Jonathan Osorio, Samuel Piette or Ismaël Koné be alongside him? Wonger is worried about Luka Modric and Croatia after their Nations League showing, while Dunny sips Polish beer that ironically sparks a conversation about Moroccan players Canadian fans should be afraid of when they face Canada in Group F. Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest, Jimmy Brennan and James Sharman recap a wild derby weekend that saw CF Montreal recover from conceding two goals in the first 7 minutes, to beat Toronto FC 4-3 dealing a massive blow to TFC's hopes of making the MLS Cup Playoffs. The crew discuss the glaring weaknesses that have hurt TFC's late Italian influenced surge. Manchester United's ended Arsenal's perfect season with their best performance of the Erik ten Hag era, thanks to a debut goal from new star Antony and a stellar return to form for Marcus Rashford. Dunny is worried about what Cristiano Ronaldo's situation means for Portugal at this winter's World Cup. No one envies Fernando Santos. Nottingham Forest's loss to a reeling Bournemouth has Jimmy worried that Steve Cooper's days are numbered, and the crew agree that the writing is on the wall for Brendan Rodgers. Craig is furious with VAR for denying West Ham a point at Stamford Bridge. Sharms is content with a Merseyside Derby draw, because we were all entertained in the process. Friend of the show, Jonathan Osorio joined James Sharman, Craig Forrest, Brendan Dunlop and producer Dan Wong on this week's interview series episode. The 30 year-old is having quite the season for both club and country and shared insights into what it's been like at Toronto FC since the arrivals of Lorenzo Insigne, Federico Bernadeschi and Domenico Criscito. Oso talks about the impact the Italians have had on the team, the benefits and challenges he's found in adapting his own game through the ups and downs of this season, how excited he is to play alongside Richie Laryea again, and the belief the squad has as the team heads in to the most important stretch of the MLS regular season. You might be surprised to learn who has control of the music in the change room. Sharms refuses to talk about Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, or Darwin Núñez's red card. And the crew celebrated Craig Forrest on the 30th anniversary of the first ever Premier League game by quizzing him to name as many of the 22 players that were on the pitch that day when Ipswich Town played Aston Villa to a 1-1 draw. No shortage of storylines from the second weekend of the Premier League season! Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan start with Tottenham's stoppage time comeback at Stamford Bridge that saw managers Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel pulled off each other. They debate whether Chelsea v Tottenham is now the Prem's best rivalry, highlight where it went wrong for Chelsea in the second half and credit Harry Kane and Spurs for a comeback that made Kalidou Koulibaly's worldie feel like it was a week ago. Manchester United fans won't be able to forget Saturday's capitulation at Brentford soon enough. Producer Dan Wong was absolutely buzzing seeing his Bees pull off one of the most unexpected upsets in Premier League history. Things are so bad at Old Trafford that the club are reportedly exploring their options to terminate Cristiano Ronaldo's contract. Jimmy & Craig explain how difficult that actually is and why it would be a bad move for United. Nottingham Forest's first Premier League win at home over Forrest's West Ham has Jimmy over the moon, and the crew debate whether Arsenal can keep up this form to contend for a Top 4 spot come the end of the season. The massive money spent on Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi has paid off as Toronto FC pulled off a late win over Portland Timbers, on the same night CF Montreal survive the heat in Houston. And JC has invented a new character that's as bold and full of life as Ted Lasso. But not Ted Lasso, obviously. The Premier League has a new home in Canada this season: FuboTV. Toronto FC return to BMO Field for the first time since "that game against Charlotte" Saturday night to host MLS powerhouse, Portland Timbers. The prospect of Michael Bradley becoming a manager when his playing career is over led to a conversation about coaching badges and ideal situations to learn the trade. Then Sharms left us for his real job and the guys really had fun and relaxed, giving you another segment of "Teaching Wonger Soccer Things That You Already Know", and of course an installment of Footy Picks, ahead of the second Premier League weekend of the season. Taty Castellanos gets a move to CFG and loaned to Girona, the newly promoted La Liga club, but is this the right move for the prolific NYCFC forward? The Italian international Bernardeschi transfers from Juvenuts in to Toronto FC in MLS. Bernardeschi, at 28, joins Lorenzo Insigne, at 31. Does this prove once and for all that MLS is not a retirement league? Also with Taty Castellanos getting the Jack Harrison move out of NYCFC through the CFG ladder, do you think it'll work out the same? Can we expect to see Taty move into a bigger role in Europe or is he destined for South America? Is Girona the right move for him?
