The SPOTY award is the main prize of an annual ceremony organised by the BBC. It was created in 1954 by Paul Fox, who was the editor of a sports magazine show called Sportsview. The idea was to honour the sportsperson who had achieved the most that year, as voted by the public. The first winner was Christopher Chataway, a runner who beat Roger Bannister, the first man to run a mile in under four minutes. Since then, the award has become one of the most prestigious and popular awards in British sport. It has been won by legends such as Bobby Moore, Daley Thompson, Steve Redgrave, Kelly Holmes and Andy Murray. The award is open to any sportsperson who is British or who plays a significant amount of their sport in the UK. En junio de 1991 aparecía oficialmente en el mundo un personaje de esos que marcan una época. Sonic, el entrañable y chulesco erizo azul de SEGA, nos traía un gameplay que a muchos nos dejó profundamente impactados. Tanto que, independientemente de que hayamos seguido toda su saga o no, siempre tendremos un hueco especial para Sonic. El erizo hizo subir la fiebre, una fiebre que metió a SEGA en una guerra (de las más memorables que se recuerdan) en la que no participaba. Pues en este episodio tratamos de dar algunas claves que demuestren que su música jugó también un gran papel en este enorme éxito, y para eso nos vamos a ir hasta casi mediados de los ochenta para contaros el nacimiento de una banda muy especial e importante para el sonido de Sonic: Dreams Come True. Así, recorreremos la historia que puso contexto al nacimiento del erizo y todas las influencias musicales que escuchamos cuando insertamos el cartucho (o lo que sea) en nuestra Mega Drive. Y de ahí a Sonic 2, el último Sonic al que Masato Nakamura puso música y que, para muchos, continúa siendo el mejor Sonic lanzado hasta la fecha.
