South Sound perspectives on the global sport.
Steve & Tim welcome back Niko Moreno (@ELROLONW) of @SportsPulso and @Sounderatheart!We can't stop talking about the Seattle Sounders' CCL win, so we spend some time on Niko's experience in D.F. travelling with the media team, the general atmosphere of the stadium, the locker room, and the courting rituals of stadium-goers in the biggest city in the Western Hemisphere. Then we talk about the impact of that win on the choices Garth Lagerwey and Brian Schmetzer will have to make before the window closes, whether we're back in form, and what the Sounders' greatest needs will be for the remainder of the season.Regular featured cast:@muffintopmodel Tim Hamilton@podfish Steve KetelsenPlease tell your friends and SUBSCRIBE! on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, or touch the RSS feed link below to add us to your favorite podcast app. This production of the Flounders B-Team is released under the Creative Commons 3.0 International Share-Alike Attribution License. We're joined this week by Niko Moreno (@ELROLONW on Twitter) editor at Pulso Sports Network and Sounder at Heart contributor. Niko's connections to the scouting side of the soccer landscape as well as his relationships with players from all over the league lend an interesting perspective to the current off season of Major League Soccer. We start off by talking about the move of Sporting Director and VP of Soccer Chris Henderson to Inter Miami where he will take over a similar role for the second year expansion side. The Sounders will have a big hole to fill in their scouting department and we discuss the successes that Henderson had with player acquisitions over the years and who will be filling the void left by Henderson's departure for the Sounders. Will there be a gap in talent coming to the Sounders as players divert to Miami? We speculate a bit on what the future holds. But will we even have a MLS season this year? Thursday night saw the 30 day negotiating window set by the league expire after invoking the force majeure clause that was put into the CBA last summer before play returned last July. MLSPA sent their own offer to league that was rejected despite the concessions that players presented. The league has since extended the bargaining window by another week and has threatened a lock out of players if no agreement is reached. Despite the uncertainty, the Sounders have re-signed a couple of familiar faces from last season in Jimmy Medranda and Stef Cleveland. Federal Way native Kelyn Rowe was also announced as a new signing by the team, joining the Sounders as a free agent from the New England Revolution. How will these players affect the formations that the Sounders roll out in 2021? Are we going to see a return to a 4-4-2 or even a 3-5-2? Niko Moreno was able to get a candid interview with Nico Lodeiro, current captain and midfielder for the Sounders. The two discussed Lodeiro's concerns about the state of the Sounders, Chris Henderson's department, Jordin Morris' move to the English Championship where he joined Swansea, and what 2021 looks like for the Sounders without the young winger. The conversation can be found on Sounder At Heart here: https://www.sounderatheart.com/2021/2/1/22259777/nicolas-lodeiro-reflects-on-jordan-morris-departure. We mix in a little roster speculation and where there might be some untapped areas for some prospective talent. We finish the show with some listener questions collected from the Channel 253 member Slack and Twitter.Pool Presser with Garth Lagerwey here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upANxZMkn7YRegular featured cast:@muffintopmodel Tim Hamilton@podfish Steve Ketelsen@jm_murf John Murphy@nate_bowling Nathan Bowling (emeritus & occasional)@cm_peterson Cat Peterson (hiatus)Please tell your friends and SUBSCRIBE! on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, or touch the RSS feed link below to add us to your favorite podcast app. This production of the Flounders B-Team is released under the Creative Commons 3.0 International Share-Alike Attribution License. We keep rolling along with our 2020 roundup and focus in on OL Reign and the NWSL. Joining us this week are Susie Rantz (@susierants), Sounder at Heart contributor and co-host of the Coffee & Valkyries Podcast, and Andrew Harvey (@soccervox), communications manager for OL Reign and broadcast voice for the Tacoma Defiance, Tacoma Stars, Seattle Pacific University Men's Team, Seattle University Men's Soccer, and University of Washington's Men's and Women's Soccer Teams. We start off by speculating on the now official loan of Jordan Morris to Swansea City A.F.C. of the English Championship (currently 2nd) and what that might mean not only for Jordan's career and USMNT exposure, but also for the Sounders are they are set to begin the 2021 MLS campaign in the near future and will have to address Morris' short term (or perhaps long term) absence from the team. We also discuss the departure of Sounders sporting director Chris Henderson to Inter Miami CF where he will assume the mantle of Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director for the second-year MLS club. In addition to the loan fee for Jordan Morris, the Sounders may be seeing a decent cash influx due to Henry Wingo's continued career progression as he makes a move from Swedish side Molde to Hungarian side Ferencvaros TC. MLS continues to engage in discussions with the MLSPA through the media in an attempt to negotiate an updated CBA, much to the collective frustration of everyone. After taking last season off due to Covid-19 concerns and to recover from some lingering injuries, Megan Rapinoe has returned to the USWNT in their January camp and ideally OL Reign once the NWSL season starts later this spring. The USWNT played two fixtures against a scrappy and young Colombian side this week winning the first 4-0 and the second 6-0. The USWNT head coach is former OL Reign coach, Vlatko Andonovski. While there is no official start date for OL Reign and the rest of the NWSL, plans seem to be to replicate the Challenge Cup format to kick the season off, which logistically may be difficult to do in the same fashion with the Utah Royals returning to Kansas City under new ownership. What does the roster look like for OL Reign heading into the 2021 season? While it may be a little early for full roster analysis, the team looks to be strong at all positions as they look to head into training camp in the coming weeks. We discuss the recent trade of Darian Jenkins to Kansas City for Tziarra King, who had a very strong rookie season in Utah for the Royals not only on the field but also in taking a lead on speaking out on social and racial justice issues. We also discuss FCKC coming back into the NWSL fold and how Jenkins can make an impact under a new ownership group. Potential expansion back into the Utah market in the future could happen again though that prospect is complicated due to the current infrastructure of Utah's professional soccer teams is still controlled by a horrible person. We keep on that topic and discuss upcoming league expansion and the possibility of other European ownership groups entering into the league in the same fashion as Olympique Lyonnais. Will we still have a soccer specific stadium in Tacoma? Pre Covid-19 pandemic support for the stadium was high across the board. Should more funding come from the teams that will be playing in a future stadium to take more pressure off of the city? Does the continued existence of OL Reign in Tacoma hinge on the stadium being built in the same time frame? We talk about the fall out of Tony Parker's off the cuff comments about wanting to move the team to Miami and OL's commitment to having two players come play for OL Reign for the 2021 season (Wendie Renard anyone?). OL Reign are set to begin training camp on February 1st here in the Tacoma area to prepare for the Challenge Cup. We talk about their training environment and available facilities to them. We close it out with some listener questions. We're back! After a long delay due to COVID-19, nationwide protests for racial justice, and the attempted overthrow of one of our branches of government, we start off strong with Dave Clark, broadcast voice for the Tacoma Defiance and Sounder at Heart contributor, recapping the challenges faced by both the Defiance and the Sounders in 2020 during their respective seasons. Dave also writes about Dungeons & Dragons on his blog, Full Moon Storytelling, including a very interesting write-up on how to incorporate sports play into your D&D game. The MLS is Back Tournament (or the COVID Cup as we so lovingly dubbed it) was conducted in Orlando from July 8 – August 11 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. While overall the tournament can be viewed as a successful employment of the “bubble” format we saw throughout professional sports including the NWSL (first successful league to “bubble” in Herriman, UT) and the NBA (also in Orlando at the WWofS). MLS would also return to play post MLS is Back tournament in a regional format that was intended to minimize travel for teams due to the soaring COVID-19 infection rates nationwide. We discuss the challenges of the return to play, the things we missed the most, and how young player development was affected due to the difference in safety protocols between MLS and the USL Championship. What are the teams' needs as we head into 2021? The Sounders did not activate options on a lot of players that have been key components for the team over the past few seasons leaving some obvious, and maybe not so obvious, holes in the roster. We also discuss the success of the Sounders as an org in the following of COVID-19 procedures in comparison to other leagues and other teams in Washington. Also, Schmetz is staying put in Seattle and it appears Gonzo Pineda is as well after being on the short list to take over for DC United. We discuss the merits of Brian Schmetzer and his importance to the Sounders organization and their success since he took over as head coach. We close it out with our best/worst case scenarios in regard to the upcoming 2021 season.Regular featured cast:@muffintopmodel Tim Hamilton@podfish Steve Ketelsen@jm_murf John Murphy@nate_bowling Nathan Bowling (emeritus & occasional)@cm_peterson Cat Peterson (hiatus)Please tell your friends and SUBSCRIBE! on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, or touch the RSS feed link below to add us to your favorite podcast app. This production of the Flounders B-Team is released under the Creative Commons 3.0 International Share-Alike Attribution License. For our first really-real show of the year, we have two of our favorite people. Erik Hanberg, Podcast Uncle/Executive Producer for Channel 253 and 10-year Commissioner for Metro Parks Tacoma joins us to talk about the Tacoma Soccer-Specific Stadium that Soccer Club of Tacoma hopes to build to provide a permanent home for Tacoma Defiance and Reign FC.To many this sounds like a no-brainer — in either direction. Why is this stadium important for Tacoma? What are the challenges? Why does public funding make sense? Beyond the public process, what are the obstacles to getting this deal done? And, ultimately, why is it a good idea for Tacoma, and who gets to decide? Then we have some fun with Niko Moreno from Pulso Sports Network! We talk about changes to the first team over the off-season, how they will impact the Sounders' CONCACAF Champions League run, and what we should expect to see from our boys in Tacoma this year. We also talk about what's happening on a new joint project!Special thanks to our friends at Peace Works United and the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation who remind you to participate in the 2020 Census on April 1, 2020. We had some big news today in Tacoma! Andrew and Steve were pleased to join with the Nerd Farmer Podcast at the official press conference held at #EstadioCheney. Olympique Lyonnais (uh-lim-PEEK lee-yuh-NAY), arguably the best football organization on the planet for equity and quality, have acquired majority ownership in Reign FC. Bill & Theresa Predmore maintain a minor share as well as day-to-day executive operation of the club and the Reign Academy, respectively. What did the B-Team and the Nerd Farmer think of the festivities today? As Aerosmith used to say (sorry millenials) Just Press Play…Especial thanks to Aaron Artman and @CaseyCatherwood of @RainiersLand for your welcome and the recording space in the Mauro Rosales Suite on the 2nd Floor. Also best wishes to cast member Cat Peterson and friend-of-show Tashi Langton for their upcoming bundle of joy, as well as the new addition to the extended Ketelsen family in Olympia.Regular featured cast:@AHammTNT Andrew Hammond@nate_bowling Nathan Bowling (emeritus & occasional)@podfish Steve Ketelsen@muffintopmodel Tim Hamilton@cm_peterson Cat Peterson (hiatus)Please tell your friends and SUBSCRIBE! on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, or touch the RSS feed link below to add us to your favorite podcast app. This production of the Flounders B-Team is released under the Creative Commons 3.0 International Share-Alike Attribution License. What a year. What a year. What. A. Year.Seattle Sounders are the MLS Champions once again, and the SALT SHALL FLOW ladies and gentlemen. We are in studio the night of the championship. Some of us have napped more than others, but all of us DRANK LIKE CHAMPIONS. This Cup was hard earned and might be the most unlikely championship in the history of the closed system before or after the penalty shootout era. We're not going to lie. We bullshit and drink whiskey for a solid hour-45. But we're pretty sure we're hilarious. We talk about the events leading up to the match (we have been gone a while after all) , the match itself, and we argue whether Garth is a genius, or whether he was saved by the genius of our Lord and Savior Brian Schmetzer (interim-schminterim).Steve, Tim, and Andrew are joined by Dave and Carol from @HandsFreeFooty, and in spirit by Sparkle Donkey and Channel 253. Steve and Tim are joined in the Sparkle Donkey Tequila Lab in SODO by our host, Stefan Schachtell, and the singular talents of Niko Moreno of Sounder at Heart and Matt Pentz of The Athletic. We talk about the state of the team leading into the Portland match, including recent form, implications for a quiet transfer window, the new ownership group, and more. We then look to the South and make some predictions for the match. We discuss the nascent Schmetzer Out phenomenon, and give our impressions of the overall business, team management, and development strategies of the Front Office. We also drink a very reasonable and safe amount of tequila. But all is not lost — we still have a shot at clinching silverware that matters — the Cascadia Cup — when we head to ‘Scum in August. Meanwhile, we have a lot to talk about — Steve, Tim, and Andrew cut it up and leave (almost) nothing on the cutting room floor in our first formal multi-channel live stream. What were the factors that impacted our performance? Offensive Depth? New Turf? Depth? Portland's mad counter? Depth? Confusion and inaccuracy in the midfield? International break? Fragile player health? What can we say? Niko Moreno is definitely one of our favorite regular guests, and he turned us on to a great new empanada joint right in our own back yard.We unpack the stunning streak of success the Sounders have seen to start the season, and look forward to changes — probably a little later than we might like (we are impatient) but definitely some interesting moves. USOC, Defiance, some acquisition strategy leading to the summer window, and what we should expect to see coming into this 8-day 3-match stretch, away & home v LAFC bracketing a “rivalry” match v. the Earthquakes at home.Listen to the show to find out how to get some signed Torres gear! Tim & Steve offer a warm welcome to Casey Catherwood, Creative Director for WeRTacoma at Cheney Stadium! We talk about the Tacoma Defiance launch, the upcoming Reign FC launch at Cheney, and the state of professional sports in Tacoma. After the break, Tim and Steve speculate on Vancouver Away and the Sounders' chances in BC Place. We painted the town red, and they painted the Chicago River Rave Green and are the first team this year to secure 9 points on the road — in three matches! Kevin, Tim, and Steve are in studio (with NEW & nicely tuned equipment for your listening pleasure), where we analyze the Colorado match, talk about how things are shaping up, whether there's rotation in our near future, and what we should be expecting from our subs & alternates. We break down the Fire match, discuss prospects for Defiance as Sounders proxy for USOC, and Steve gets in his feelings about a violent chant.#EBFGRegular featured family:@cm_peterson Cat Peterson@kevin_zamira Kevin Zamira@nate_bowling Nathan Bowling@podfish Steve Ketelsen@muffintopmodel Tim HamiltonPlease tell your friends and SUBSCRIBE! on iTunes, Stitcher, or touch the RSS feed link below. This production of the Flounders B-Team is released under the Creative Commons 3.0 International Share-Alike Attribution License. Tonight we talk about roster construction (lots of open spots, not a lot of depth, lots of reason for hope). We discuss the strategy the FO & Garth Lagerwey might be taking as they integrate the Tacoma team more deeply into their plans. We talk about the Cheney Stadium relaunch & re-home for the Tacoma Defiance & the Seattle Reign, and close up with a quick analysis of the Cincinatti opener on 3/2.Just a reminder: we'll be broadcasting on Facebook Live & YouTube before that match, 3/2/2019 at 1:00pm PST from Black Rock Spirits in efficacious SoDo Seattle, Washington. It's been two whole seasons, and we're all still friends. Can you believe it?The whole crew is in this week, plus a sometimes-guest becomes actual family!!!Updates since recording:Ozzie to Minnesota United FC (We want Sigi/Ozzie statues on the CLink entry stairs)S2 Home Opener moved to Friday March 8This show we cover the implications of likely roster moves (two major decisions completed before posting re: Brad Smith and Legend Osvaldo Alonso) to our first-team formation, discuss depth issues and where holes need to be filled to resolve that depth. We also relate these issues to the Winter Window (will we make an off-season signing?) and the overall stature of the Seattle Sounders Football Club, and share some ideas to make this Single-Entity/DP scheme more interesting & useful.Remember, all we do, we do in love.
We take the chance to have a great conversation with Niko Moreno @ELROLONOW on an ongoing rumor re: Nico Lodeiro, and the new well-earned contract for Cristian Roldan, as well as his take on its parity with the Jordan Morris contract. Why haven't we made a big signing yet? Should we be worried that Kelyn Rowe has signed elsewhere, and other teams are making moves (even if they're not so big? Is Torres sticking around? What are the places we need to shore up, and what should we make of the Sounders off-season strategy so far?Regular featured family:@cm_peterson Cat Peterson@kevin_zamira Kevin Zamira@nate_bowling Nathan Bowling@podfish Steve Ketelsen@muffintopmodel Tim HamiltonPlease tell your friends and SUBSCRIBE! on iTunes, Stitcher, or touch the RSS feed link below. This production of the Flounders B-Team is released under the Creative Commons 3.0 International Share-Alike Attribution License. What a great match, and a great week overall for Seattle Sounders FC on both sides of the county line! Despite a despicable performance by the referee, our boys have taken home eight (count 'em eight!!) straight wins to extend the unbeaten streak to 11.The Flounders B-Team knows how to do it right: we do a little celebration of success this week by joining Doyle's Public House on their Designated Driver Express bus to see the KC Wizards get their wands broken by our Boys in Rave Green. Nate, Steve, and Tim are joined by a few friends, family, and fans of the show (it's hard to tell the difference some times!) We talk about current events (Bye, Clint, say it ain't so and so on), tactical observations & formation, and what we're drinking. We continue the conversation on the bus, then Tim and Steve recap the match in studio.Be sure to check out Doyle's Public House at 208 St. Helens Avenue, right here in Tacoma, Washington for literally all of your soccer viewing and ale drinking needs.Regular featured family:@cm_peterson Cat Peterson@kevin_zamira Kevin Zamira@nate_bowling Nathan Bowling@podfish Steve Ketelsen@muffintopmodel Tim HamiltonPlease tell your friends and SUBSCRIBE! on iTunes, Stitcher, or touch the RSS feed link below. This production of the Flounders B-Team is released under the Creative Commons 3.0 International Share-Alike Attribution License. Cat, Steve, Tim, and Kevin jump in to provide pre-match, halftime, and post-match coverage live to tape! (Congratulations, Belgium.) Seattle faces Portscum in enemy territory. The match was a doozy, but limited disciplinary calls from Chris Penso made for a very chippy match. Portland came to play, but, true to form, their idiotic tifo definitely cursed Joey's chainsaw.Own-goal victory aside, we have some questions, and we try to answer them. We also have a lot of fun along the way, in true FBT style.Special thanks to Doyle's Public House for hosting our upcoming bus tour. Doyle's is hands down the best soccer bar in Washington. Great visit from Casey Catherwood from Cheney Stadium, home of Sounders FC2, and his friend Pierce Adler!Steve, Kevin, Tim, and Nate break down the FC Dallas game and try to make sense of the nearly unprecedented 5-win streak. Are Sounders FC going to continue on the path to glory, sitting at 10 points out of first place? Or is a big correct coming? Does this run of success excuse the sins of the past? How's Schmetzer doing? Is Garth out of the hot seat? Who did S2 actually play on Steve's birthday? Tim, Steve & SummerTime Kevin in studio to break down NYCFC, Minnesota United, and the state of the team after four consecutive wins and a seven-match unbeaten streak! Can we hold on to the momentum?(56:31) We talk about potential signings (yes, the MLS transfer window closed Wednesday), but leave the close analysis to Niko Moreno who talks about his connections, how he thought the transfer window would go, and what he would do with one more day in the summer window, and how he might build on the team for 2019 if he were King for a Day.
Our interview with Jackson Felts at the George & Dragon Pub in Fremont! We cover the win against San Jose, and deep dive to deconstruct the current state of both Sounders FC and S2.

I mean, c'mon, right?Special guest Tashi Langton @fosssoccer joins Cat, Tim, Steve, and Kevin for a raucous walk through the Portland match, some World Cup shenanigans, a minor studio disaster, and TACTICS. come join the summer fun! We also discuss the problems that Ruidiaz solves, some of our roster choices over the season, and where we might finish this year. It's not as bleak as it looks -- the spread between the good teams and the bad teams in the West is very palpable. Also, youth soccer in the US is WAY too damned expensive and limits our ability to pipe diverse, quality players to men's and women's national clubs. Tim, Nate, and Steve hang out with Superfan, Constant Listener and Channel 253 Member John Murphy @JM_Murf about the state of the team, future prospects, the potential (at time of recording) Ruidiaz signing, outlook for upcoming matches, and more. The Chicago match at home left a lot to be desired from a performance standpoint, but there were some standouts. Frei and Nouhou had a lot to talk about, and Deuce just looked hungry and tired until the goal came. Katai was a beast, to our chagrin, and V8R showed his speed and creativity.
In studio, we welcome @ELROLONW Niko Moreno, writer for @sounderatheart and personality on @DEPORTETOTALUSA. He gives us his journalistic insight into the loss at RSL Away (where championships seem oh so far away). We also chat briefly about the Fresno-S2 match, and speculate on whether the FO is OK dropping the US Open Cup this year. (Spoiler, turns out they are.)Then we move firmly into Niko's wheelhouse with roster construction and scouting. Then *tons* of listener questions and bantzzzz.
Welcome back to Cat Peterson! We're talking about common soccer stuff today -- how is Arsenal like Seattle? Who and where are we, and what is the real deal?We have speculation, analysis, and try to filter the FO's decisions through a filter of real evidence.Covering Arsenal, the first RSL match, the roster, callups, Felix Chenkam, Kim Kee-Hee, Neagle, and combinations featuring Clint Dempsey clogging the midfield and breaking up creative play. How's the relationship between team leadership and support, and we try really hard to get super negative about the team and it doesn't work out. Tim & Steve take apart the LAFC match -- lots to be thankful for, but are we the team we want to be? We've got some issues, and as of this recording, not much is indicating any rescues soon. (The day we go to print, however, Garth announces a potential 8-figure deal the Sounders have been working on notionally since February.)@Nate_Bowling joins us after the first segment to talk about the future, Garth Lagerwey's comments to press, comparing the paper team to the actual team, and how we hold LA fans' feet to the fire on homophobic chants.Serious, but fun.
GUYS, we finally won a game. And we got a treat in Toronto coming so close, and losing a championship (again) in PKs.We talk S2 roster, selfless acts from aging heroes, beating Minnesota in glorious fashion, and the future of a number of our players. Christian Roldan, Gustav Svensson, Captain Alonso, the young Alex Roldan & Jordy Delem, along with the whole squad performed very well in the first half, and held their own in the second. Tons of opportunities greet these young players, as there is no significant signing suspected in the foreseeable future -- or at least before the closure of the May 5 transfer window. And, of course, the very next day we rematch LAFC as they open their brand new stadium in the heart of Los Angeles just south of USC. So, you know, hopefully we keep the wheels greased up.
...And you don't throw a fit. This is a relaxed episode where three huge white dudes talk about soccer. Joining us today to talk about S2, Mothership and the joys of away travel, @BigDaveTPIR travels all the way down to our new studio. We cut it up about the boys we love.
Off-weeks are great for catching your breath, catching up with old friends, and making new ones.In studio, we have Head Coach of the Kitsap Pumas, Liviu Bird, and Assistant Coach (and friend of show) Shannon Matthews! Before coaching, Liviu wrote for Sports Illustrated, The Telegraph and Sounder at Heart. He's made some splashes, and is relishing his current role as a full time youth & professional coachThe boys from Bremerton are looking to make noise this year! Liviu & Shannon help break down some recent news, and then we get a deep dive into the mind of an analyst-turned-coach -- what drives some of the dynamics on the field, in the locker room, and the challenges & decisions that land on his very complex role.A huge welcome back to Kevin, who was able to break free for a night and hang with the B-Team! (We're better with you, buddy!)We hope you have as much fun as we did!
It's all going to be OK, right? The Sounders untimely exit from the CCL and associated personnel issues give us a great opportunity to talk with Niko Moreno @ELROLONW about the scouting situation, and get his perspective on the bright spots you might have missed in the first few matches of the season. We take apart the Guadalajara match, wallow in our misery with the FC Dallas debacle, and celebrate an outstanding @SoundersFC2 debut. Not much on Swope, given it was basically a trial exhibition... or at least that's what we're telling ourselves.
Tim, Steve, and Nate chat about the week that was. 1-0 is a completely reasonable result at home against Chivas de Guadalajara. We discuss the game, preview the next match in Guadalajara, and accidentally talk about the acceptable loss against LAFC in the home opener. You win some, you lose some, and we are ready for next week!We also talk with Raney, Kurt & Anthony, friends from Dallas who have perspectives on how FCD is shaping up for the year and try to explain some lousy opening form.
In today's show we cover a lot of ground -- The 4-0 (5-2 Aggregate) Sounders win against Santa Tecla leading to the disappointing but understandable 0-1 opening loss vs. LAFC. We look forward to hosting Chivas de Guadalajara. Casey Catherwood discusses S2 developments & player personalities (also some family safety tips). Dave Montgomery of the Sounders Community Trust breaks down the new "veterans" on the USL side in a deep roster analysis.
We're back on the eve of the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16 match against Santa Tecla in the beautiful Emerald City, and the Sounders season opener on Sunday. We unpack the disappointing 2-1 first-leg result, roster changes and critical hits (JOMO SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!) and preview the LAFC season opener with Jerry from the Heart of LAFC Podcast. We also give away two prizes from our Stefan Frei visit!
The season is coming... we're almost there... less than a month until Santa Tecla Away... hnnngggg.....We got a couple of badasses over here, Jerry (with a Star!) & Miki Turner of Sounders Twitterati fame, and we get deep into SOCKS to open up, feeding to uniforms, recent Sounders Superdraft and other acquisitions, impending changes, Arsenal rumors (spoiler alert! It's nothing!!!) as well as an autopsy, and general news and bantz.
After a little more booze, Frei opens up about his passion for art, the Delta airlines "tifo" kerfuffle, activation, and LIGHTNING ROUND with Cat! #WrinkleWednesday makes its audio debut! Who's the best, who's the worst? What players keep him up at night, and whose lunch does he eat? What's up with #24? Lots of locker room antics, and basically just a great fun half of the show!
