Duración: 0:49:03. Calificación: 4*. Comentario: El disco debut de Count Basie con el sello «Pablo», de Norman Granz, dejó mucha decepción entre sus seguidores. Con un octeto de estrellas relevantes, como el trompetista Harry «Sweets» Edison, el trombonista JJ Johnson y los tenores Eddie Davis y Zoot Sims, el bajista Ray Brown, el guitarrista Irving Ashby, y el batería Louie Bellson, se esperaba mucho más de esta sesión de estudio. quizás el formato elegido, a medio camino entre el combo y la big band, no fue la mejor elección, ni tampoco la selección de temas fue la más brillante. En cualquier caso, sin ser la mejor grabación de Count Basie, es muy interesante escuchar como el pianista es capaz de desenvolverse, y muy bien, en formatos más pequeños que su tradicional big band. KARLES PEREZ.- Nacido en Petrer (Alicante), inició su formación musical en la Colla de dolçainers i tabaleters “El Terròs”. Poco después fue admitido en el Conservatorio “Ana María Sánchez” de Elda, donde cursó estudios de percusión clásica. Tras finalizar el grado medio en dicho centro, en 2015 accedió al Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco, Musikene, en la especialidad de batería jazz, donde recibió formación de destacados profesores como Jo Krause, Guillermo McGill, Carlos Martín, Francesc Capella y Miguel Blanco, entre otros. Durante sus años en Musikene, realizó una estancia formativa en el Kug de Graz (Austria), estudiando con profesores como Howard Curtis, Ed Partyka o Michael Abene y más adelante completó un máster en interpretación en el Conservatori del Liceu, junto a profesores como Bill McHenry, Ramón Prats y Sergi Vergés. Ha participado en numerosos festivales, salas y clubes de jazz tanto a nivel nacional como internacional, entre ellos el Festival de Jazz de San Sebastián, Cifujazz, Festival de Jazz de Terrassa, Festival de Jazz de Atarfe, Festival de Jazz de Peñíscola, La Bilbaína Jazz Club, Altxerri Jazz Bar, y el Cucuteni Jazz Festival en Rumanía, entre otros. Fue ganador del proyecto “Horda”, galardonado en los premios “BBK Impulso” como la mejor banda joven del País Vasco. A lo largo de su trayectoria ha colaborado con reconocidos músicos nacionales e internacionales como Dan Barrett, Olivier Franc, Ilja Reijngoud, Judy Niemack, Randy Greer, Arturo Serra, Adrian Cunningham, Enric Peidro, Carlos Martín y Juan Galiardo, entre otros. Actualmente lidera dos proyectos personales: su primer disco, Changing Times, y su nueva propuesta, Scarpetta, presentada recientemente en la emblemática sala Jamboree de Barcelona.

"Tienes que servir a alguien", cantaba Bob Dylan en 1979. Nadie es totalmente libre. Todos vivimos bajo la autoridad y dominio de otros, sea voluntaria o forzosamente. Y ese señor se convierte a menudo en nuestro dios. La idolatría tiene por eso en la Biblia, un lenguaje tanto político como religioso, e incluso afectivo. Hoy pensamos en nuestra parada en el viaje por la vida, a la luz de los 66 libros de la Biblia en la cuestión de autoridad que le plantean a Jesús en el capítulo 22 de la Buena Noticia según Mateo. La sintonía está en esta ocasión a cargo de Randy Greer, un cantante afroamericano de la escuela de Nat King Cole, acompañado aquí por el trío del guitarrista británico Robin Nolan en su "Bulevar de los sueños rotos". Nos introduce a una fiesta de bodas como la de la historia de la parábola de Jesús (vv. 1-14). El músico argentino de origen irlandés, Chris De Burgh canta en "La fiesta de boda" de su disco de 2021 sobre la leyenda de de Robin Hood. Es a otra fiesta de bodas a la que se refiere Jesús, sobre la que canta el tempranamente fallecido en un accidente de aviación, Keith Green (1953-1982) en la "Canción a mis padres" (1977), antes de comenzar su propia productora que regalaba los discos sin precio alguno. Es en esa "Otra tierra" (1976) que Larry Norman describe la fiesta de bodas del Cordero en la eternidad, a la que nos invita a entrar antes de que "El sol comience a llover". "Dios y el César" es el tema de un extraño "reggae" que no tiene nada que ver esta vez con el culto rastafarí al emperador Haile Selassie, sino con la misión jesuita de Richard Ho Long, hijo de padres chinos, que difundía así su fe en Jamaica en los años 70. No faltan referencias religiosas en las películas de los hermanos Coen, pero en "¡Ave, César!" (2012) no tienen que ver sólo con su judaísmo secular o el de los comunistas represaliados en la "caza de brujas" del senador McCarthy, sino con el catolicismo atormentado del productor que encarna Josh Brolin o la visión de Jesús del personaje romano de cine bíblico que interpreta George Clooney. Escuchamos algunos sorprendentes diálogos del film, que comenta José de Segovia con la banda sonora original de Carter Burwell, para hablar sobre la cuestión que le plantean a Jesús sobre Dios y el César (vv. 15-19). La siguiente pregunta que hacen a Jesús es sobre la resurrección (vv. 23-33): ¿Se mantiene el compromiso matrimonial después de la muerte? La cantante inglesa Alison Moyet cree en la "Resurrección del amor" (1984). La respuesta de Jesús es tan sorprendente como la que da a la pregunta anterior y al final de la parábola. Nos revela que el que vive para Dios, "No hay tumba que pueda sujetarle", como dice la canción de Johnny Cash, que escuchamos ahora en la versión del "Tigre de Galés", Tom Jones en su álbum de "Alabanza y culpa" de 2010. Acabamos el programa con la expectativa de "El regreso" (1976) de Jesús por la Banda de la Resurrección, el grupo hippy cristiano de Chicago que hace "música para levantar muertos" desde 1972. En nuestra siguiente parada veremos el resto de este capítulo con la acusación de Jesús a los fariseos en el capítulo 23...
