Season 2, Episode 17 is a bit of a different adventure for us. We have decided to break down the concepts presented in a Joe Rogan interview with Thomas Campbell, author of My Big TOE (Theory Of Everything). Campbell is a physicist who began experiencing the paranormal in college. Because of those experiences, he has gone on a life long quest to understand and explain them from a scientific perspective. Through that study and experimentation, he has created a very rich, flushed out theory of how all of life as we know it works. Further, he believes that his theory has sufficient results to answer many of the modern questions between Newtonian and Quantum Physics. We strongly suggest that you watch Joe Rogan's interview of Campbell prior to this episode, in order to get the full context. If not, we do give an overview at the beginning of the show. https://youtu.be/tQR6SFK7lFc?si=mtIRUB-hxrNLUtJMOur overall intent here is to map Campbell's framework and components to our understanding of God, all of Creation, and the many paranormal experiences and concepts we have discussed in the past.Along the way I relate a relevant Near Death Experience of a coworker, Vic rather dubiously declares himself the Best Wordle Player in the World, Father Mike embarks on the First Paranormal Rundown Wordle Intuition Psychic Blocking Experiment, and we discuss topics including Out of Body Experiences, Simulation Theory, Intuition vs Intellect, Creative Uses for Computer Punch Cards, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit, World of Warcraft, Leroy Jenkins, What is Hell, Various Paranormal Concepts, The Borg, and more. We really hope you enjoy this breakdown of Thomas Campbell's view of the universe, and our mapping of it to The Paranormal Rundown!Links for Thomas Campbell:https://www.my-big-toe.com/theory/overview-of-my-big-toe/ https://www.cusac.orgPlease contact us at feedback@paranormalrundown.com and let us know what you think of this episode. We really enjoyed this format, and are thinking about making it a regular feature. Also, we are always looking for guests for the show. It's taken 5 appearances from JJ Johnson of Southern Demonology for us to get to demons. But, here there be demons. The views of demons changed very much once Christianity spread versus before. So we start with Mesopotamia in Sumer, Babylon, Akka and the Levant. We visit and clarify on certain figures like Lilith, Lamasu, Pazzuzu, Peimon and Moloch. Is Beelzebub Ba'al or the reverse? Or neither? How did Zoroastrianism change everything? Some familiar numbers are discussed. Of course, we cover Satan, Lucifer, the Devil and other topics. Which writings are worth your time. Which aren't might surprise you. Are Djinn demons? Are Nephilim demons? Let's dive into the underworld and beyond to discuss actual demonology according to actual canonical texts and some adjacent writings.
Welcome to Season 2, Episode 16 of The Paranormal Rundown! The Gang of Nerds is down to a Duo tonight, just Vic and Dave. So we decided to do something a little different (unusual for us, right?!) Vic is going to take the role of the Atheist, Material Reductionist, and Dave is going to be the Everything is Paranormal, God Loving Hippie. The goal was to debate the possible reality of the topic, and maybe choose a winner. We did have a fairly decent list of paranormal topics, but in true Rundown fashion we only got through Consciousness, a little about the Akashic Record, and a shallow dive into Magick. We also dive into an EVP captured on the last episode with Fr. Justin, and discuss EVPs in general. Along the way we bounce around the subjects of Animal Consciousness, EEG Recorded at Time of Death, Higher Levels of Consciousness, Dolphins, PrayTV, Plant Consciousness, Universal Consciousness, Spooky Action At A Distance - SAAADs, Harry Houdini, Psychics vs Mediums, Remote Viewing, Irrefutable EVPs, Magick, Christian Rituals, Magical Contract Negotiation and Fulfillment, and the Crossroads Demon. Hopefully we did the Gang proud. I am almost certain Sky Daddy lover Dave smacked that Atheist Vic down pretty hard...As always, if you have any questions, comments, or you really liked this episode format, please let us know at feedback@paranormalrundown.comIf you didn't like this show, please let us know twice!!Vic would also like to know your thoughts on Cedric and Avalon. But be careful, Avalon has been know to cause a nightmare or two when offended...Check out our new X account at: https://x.com/ParanormalRundnLeave us a message! The Paranormal Rundown is a partnership between the hosts David Griffith, JJ Johnson, Father Michael Birdsong, and Vic Hermanson.Be sure to check out our partner podcasts:You can find JJ at Southern Demonology, https://www.southerndemonology.comYou can find Vic at Trailer Trash Terrors, https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/vic-hermansonYou can find Father Birdsong at https://www.becomingahouseofprayer.com, as well as hear his new podcast Ending the Curse at:https://open.spotify.com/show/5yL7ZAN4wcRKnMPAlalVXW Hosted on Acast. Welcome to Season 2, Episode 15 of The Paranormal Rundown! This episode we have Father Justin Allen join us. Fr. Justin is a priest with the Charismatic Episcopal Church, and fellow seminary student with Deacon Josh. His perspective is especially interesting for the Rundown, as he has not spent any significant time in his life thinking deeply on the paranormal or supernatural. We also have a very lively discussion about a green Tupperware lid that materialized in Vic's sink! The main topics discussed are Things Walking Around that are not Human, Mysteries of the Sacraments (especially Confession), Why the Paranormal Frightens Us, and Consciousness. Along the way we touch on Podcast EVPs, Haunted Locations, Types of Ghosts, Unknown vs Unknowable, Alien Abduction and Implants, Alien Baptism, Koko the Gorilla, What is In the Image of God, Consciousness, Personality in the Womb, and Jason the Horse. Fr. Mike is especially frisky on this one, so don't miss out!P.S. - Speaking of Podcast EVPs, be sure to listen closely at 1 Hour, 38 Minutes, and 45 seconds. Whatever is speaking there is on Fr. Justin's channel only, and it doesn't sound much like Fr. Justin...If you have any questions, comments, or you happen to have the bowl that goes with Vic's lettuce keeper lid, please let us know at feedback@paranormalrundown.comThe Paranormal Rundown is a partnership between the hosts David Griffith, JJ Johnson, Father Michael Birdsong, and Vic Hermanson.Be sure to check out our partner podcasts:You can find JJ at Southern Demonology, https://www.southerndemonology.comYou can find Vic at Trailer Trash Terrors, https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/vic-hermansonYou can find Father Birdsong at https://www.becomingahouseofprayer.com, as well as hear his new podcast Ending the Curse at:https://open.spotify.com/show/5yL7ZAN4wcRKnMPAlalVXW Hosted on Acast. Welcome to Season 2, Episode 14 of The Paranormal Rundown! We are down a man or two on this episode, but that is ok, because we have a fantastic guest: Father Michael Pacella! He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and ideas to the discussion. Father Michael has experience as a military chaplain, a PhD in Philosophy, experience as an exorcist, and 45 years of ministry. No wonder this conversation was so interesting! We hit the main topics of Satanic Corporate Logos, Alien Minds, and a brief stint on Sex Robots. One thing that each conversation kept coming back to was the Human Soul, from what damages it to what components it is made of. The Soul is definitely something Fr. Michael has thought deeply about. He also relays a personal story of seeing a Principality in the sky. Other topics we hit include Secret Organizations and Exorcism, Syncretism, Critical Thinking, KKK Chaplains, Soul Subversion, The Fifth Column, Demonic Influence in Combat, Soul Repair, The Soulless Mind, Demonic Obsession, Seeing Inside the Possessed, Evidence of Residence, and much more. Hailed by Stereophile Magazine for “sound[ing] like 21st-century grandchildren of JJ Johnson and Kai Winding” (with his co-bandleader Chris Glassman) and praised by the International Trombone Associations Journal for his “virtuosity [and] melodic and harmonic mastery,” Altin Sencalar is in high demand across the country as a performer, educator, and composer. We caught Altin on tour in support of his 2023 release ‘In Good Standing'. Recapping an insane week of TXHSFB playoffs, feat. Oakwood coach JJ Johnson
Welcome to Season 2, Episode 9 of The Paranormal Rundown! The Gang of Nerds has been obliterated this month, Vic has Covid, David has neck problems, Fr. Mike is in a lot of pain, and JJ is taking in the fine dining and culture of Japan. Since we weren't able to get together and record a new episode, we thought we would do a recap of Season One. This started out as a simple idea of pull the top clips out of the season and make an episode out of it, but it turned into having about 9 hours or more of really great conversation! As a result, we decided to make it a four part series. We will be publishing an episode each Friday through the end of the year. Sort of a Paranormal Rundown countdown to 2025. Each episode will feature the best clips from five episodes last season. So that it is not just reruns, Vic and David will be adding a little commentary on each of the episode and history of the rundown as we go. This episode has conversation that covers Crop Circles, Hairy Hands, Ouija Boards, Estes Method, Azazel, Demons, Bamboo Chicken, Rocky Mountain Oysters, Cockroach Demon, Shared Stories, Hundredth Monkey Effect, The Antichrist, Bigfoot Encounter, Cheeseburger Cravings, Ghost Police Calls, and Spontaneous Combustion. Talk about a wide list of topics! We also have clips from our first guests, Father Michael Birdsong, paranormal writer Anna Maria Manalo, and retired police officer Val Zavala. We really enjoyed going back through these episodes and listening to some fascinating, and sometimes hilarious, conversation. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.We also have an ask of you the listener. David has been thinking of taking short clips like this out of each episode, and publishing it as it's own podcast. It would be maybe a 30-45 minute episode with some of the more interesting conversation from a full Rundown. If you have suggestions, or would like to see something like that, please email us at feedback@paranormalrundown.com. And as always, if you have any interest on joining us for a rundown, please let us know. It's our 500th episode! Thank you to everyone who has been following along since 2018 and to those who are brand-new to our universe. We had to mark this big episode with one of our absolute favorites in the world of baking, business, and cookbook writing. Christina Tosi is the founder of the singular Milk Bar bakery and the author of many must-own cookbooks. Her latest is her best one yet: Bake Club: 101 Must-Have Moves for Your Kitchen tackles all the baking questions (and perhaps struggles) home bakers might have. We talk about what makes a great weekend baking project and how some recipes are ideal for the time-strapped. Tosi talks about the good-old Momofuku days and how a big life change is making her rethink her own cooking habits. Also, the holiday Reese's ranked! Thank you again for all the wonderful messages over the years! We love hearing from you and bringing you our show a couple times each week. Also on the show, it's the return of Three Things where Aliza and Matt discuss what is exciting in the world of restaurants, cookbooks, and the food world as a whole. On this episode: Aliza's birthday, including trips to Pastis and the Alvin Ailey retrospective at The Whitney, the Baldor x The Sussmans collab is really fun, as is The Shirtosphere. Also, a box grater PSA, Malcolm Livingston II's August Novelties is incredible, JJ Johnson is previewing a cool new restaurant concept, Aquavit's bar room menu is the perfect way to try high-caliber Swedish cooking in NYC.Do you enjoy This Is TASTE? Focusing on Bud Powell as a performer, prioritising his own compositions but also appreciating the art of improvisation as spontaneous composition.Bud Powell was born in 1924 and grew up in Harlem, against the backdrop of the Harlem Renaissance. He was a gifted pianist from a young age and became a pioneer of bebop. But he was a troubled soul and the great paradox of Bud Powell is how there could be such joy and expression in his music while his life was so painful.Music Featured: Bouncing with Bud (from The Amazing Bud Powell) Oblivion (from The Genius of Bud Powell) Strictly Confidential (from Jazz Giant) Floogie Boo (from Cootie Williams and his Orchestra 1941-1944) Do Some War Work, Baby (from Cootie Williams and his Orchestra 1941-1944) Off Minor (from Bud Powell Trio) Dexter Rides Again (from Dexter Rides Again) Mad Bebop (from JJ Johnson's Jazz Quintet) Buzzy (from Charlie Parker, the Complete Savoy and Dial Master Takes) Bud's Bubble (from Bud Powell Trio) I Should Care (from Bud Powell Trio) Tempus Fugit (from Jazz Giant) Celia (from Jazz Giant) Un Poco Loco (from the Amazing Bud Powell) Over the Rainbow (from the Amazing Bud Powell) A Night in Tunisia (from the Amazing Bud Powell) Dance of the Infidels (from the Amazing Bud Powell) So Sorry Please (from Jazz Giant) Glass Enclosure (from the Amazing Bud Powell, vol 2) Lullaby of Birdland (from Inner Fires) Sure Thing (from Inner Fires) Parisian Thoroughfare (from the Genius of Bud Powell) Polka Dots and Moonbeams (from the Amazing Bud Powell, vol 2) Hallelujah (from Hot House: The Complete Jazz at Massey Hall Recordings) Hot House (from Hot House: The Complete Jazz at Massey Hall Recordings) Willow Grove (from Piano Interpretations by Bud Powell) Nice Work If You Can Get It (from Bud Powell Trio) Elegy (from Blues in the Closet) Blues for Bessie (from Strictly Powell) Ornithology (from the Amazing Bud Powell) Bud on Bach (from the Amazing Bud Powell, vol 3) Buster Rides Again (from the Amazing Bud Powell, vol 4) John's Abbey (from the Amazing Bud Powell, vol 4) Cleopatra's Dream (from The Scene Changes) Getting There (from The Scene Changes) Buttercup (from Bud Powell's Moods) Round Midnight (from Bud Powell: Live at the Blue Note Café Paris 1961) How High the Moon / Ornithology (from Live in Lausanne 1962) Broadway (from Our Man in Paris) I'll Remember April (from Mingus at Antibes) I Can't Get Started (from Bud Powell in Paris) Blues for Bouffemont (from Blues for Bouffemont) All God's Chillun Got Rhythm (from Jazz Giant) Hallucinations (from The Return of Bud Powell) If I Loved You (from The Return of Bud Powell) Thelonius (from A Portrait of Thelonius) Like Someone in Love (from Ups and Downs) Bouncing with Bud (Keith Jarrett/Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette, from After the Fall) Dusk in Sandi (Chick Corea, from Remembering Bud Powell) Wail (from the Amazing Bud Powell)Presented by Kate Molleson Produced by Martin Williams for BBC Audio Wales & West For full track listings, including artist and recording details, and to listen to the pieces featured in full (for 30 days after broadcast) head to the series page for Bud Powell (1924-1966) https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0024m2z And you can delve into the A-Z of all the composers we've featured on Composer of the Week here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/3cjHdZlXwL7W41XGB77X3S0/composers-a-to-z

With the veil between the living and the dead so thin, The Garden thought it appropriate to bring you an episode on exorcisms. To do this properly, we call upon the host of Southern Demonology, and all around scholarly and learned man, JJ Johnson. We discuss when exorcisms became something formal and ritual based in historic times. We discuss when an exorcism is appropriate and the vetting process. Is the exorcism over a person or place? Are there non Catholic exorcisms? Why is it important to know the Demon's name...or is it important? What did Hollywood and the media get right and wrong, and so much more.

Welcome to Episode 20 of The Paranormal Rundown! We wrap up our first season with a special treat! Vic is going to finally give us the full details of the incredible cryptid experience he had years ago in Australia. Hard to say if it was a Yowie, Bigfoot, Lougarou, Dogman or what. It doesn't quite fit any specific one perfectly, so you decide. Father Birdsong also retells a recent, very vivid, Dream of Hell or Sheol. Other topics include Things in the Woods We Don't Talk About, The Woods of Appalachia, Special Desert Beverages, A Demon for Every Sin, Cursed Lands, Aokigahara, Gettysburg, Antietam, and Dingylacines. After this episode, the Gang of Nerds will be taking a brief sabbatical to rest and recharge. Pretty sure Vic will keep on adding to that list though... We should be starting up season 2 in early summer, so we will see you soon!If you have your own paranormal or scary game story, please email us the details of the game and any experiences you have had playing it, at feedback@paranormalrundown.com!The Paranormal Rundown is a partnership between the hosts David Griffith, JJ Johnson, Father Michael Birdsong, and Vic Hermanson.Be sure to check out our partner podcasts:You can find JJ at Southern Demonology, https://www.southerndemonology.comYou can find Vic at Trailer Trash Terrors, https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/vic-hermansonYou can find Father Birdsong at https://www.becomingahouseofprayer.com, as well as hear his new podcast Ending the Curse at:https://open.spotify.com/show/5yL7ZAN4wcRKnMPAlalVXW Hosted on Acast. Welcome to Episode 18 of The Paranormal Rundown! This episode starts out with a fairly deep discussion on lost books of the Bible, in the middle of which we are given revelation about why Father Birdsong says he was the King of Protestantism, along with details of his journey to the Catholic faith. Deacon Josh gives us a rundown on The Book of Tobit, Vic tells us all about Goofer Dust, JJ gives us the aerodynamic benefits of Chicken Feet as Spaceships, and David introduces the concept of having a Spiritual Immune System when it comes to the Demonic. There are many other topics in the middle, including The Book of Q, Gnostic Texts, Flayed Demon Dreams, Tarot Cards, Konxari Cards, Psychic Readings, Greegrees, Metaphysical Shop Energy, the Origin of the Cheshire Cat, and Demonic Points of Attachment. It is a packed episode, so hold on tight! For those of you who are paying attention, you may have noticed that this is Episode 18, not 20, which is a little confusing because the last episode released was Episode 19. Well, someone managed to bump episode 19 up in front of 18 by accident. I won't give you his name, but his initials are DG. Must have gotten a little too excited about discussing those rabbits... The good news is that you Still have one more episode to go in season 1! So be sure to join us again in two weeks for Episode 20!If you have your own paranormal or scary game story, please email us the details of the game and any experiences you have had playing it, at feedback@paranormalrundown.com!The Paranormal Rundown is a partnership between the hosts David Griffith, JJ Johnson, Father Michael Birdsong, and Vic Hermanson.Be sure to check out our partner podcasts:You can find JJ at Southern Demonology, https://www.southerndemonology.comYou can find Vic at Trailer Trash Terrors, https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/vic-hermansonYou can find Father Birdsong at https://www.becomingahouseofprayer.com, as well as hear his new podcast Ending the Curse at:https://open.spotify.com/show/5yL7ZAN4wcRKnMPAlalVXW Hosted on Acast.
