In 2015, I suffered from poor Type 1 diabetes control which lead me to become legally blind for almost a year. The doctors didn't give me much hope, predicting an 80% chance that I would never see again. But I refused to give up and changed my lifestyle drastically. Through sheer willpower (and an amazing eye surgeon) I beat the odds and regained my vision. During that difficult time, I couldn't read or write, which was devastating as they had always been a source of comfort for me since childhood. However, my wife took me to the local library where she read out the titles of audiobooks to me. I selected some of my favorite books, such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter, and more, and the audiobooks brought these stories to life in a way I had never experienced before. They helped me through the darkest period of my life and I fell in love with audiobooks. Once I regained my vision, I decided to pursue a career as an audiobook narrator instead of a writer. That's why I created Tall Tale TV, to support aspiring authors in the writing communities that I had grown to love before my ordeal. My goal was to help them promote their work by providing a promotional audio short story that showcases their writing skills to readers. They say the strongest form of advertising is word of mouth, so I offer a platform for readers to share these videos and help spread the word about these talented writers. Please consider sharing these stories with your friends and family to support these amazing authors. They’re involved in many schemes but don’t see the end goal. From the point of view of the goals we’ve set for this game, this is a success. The group has many side plots to explore, and some of them are deeply personal. But I do not want to keep all those threads open for a long period of time. There needs to be some closure so that character could evolve, advance and change. There are also sub-plots within the greater storylines we need to get into. To that end, I’ve decided to choose one storyline to focus on for the next few sessions, and that is the Video Kidz plot. The main reason I chose this storyline is that unlike most of the other ones, the cast involved in this story are children. They won’t sit around strategising. They’re acting on impulses. They probably don’t care about what they heard on the news, about bombs and supervillains. The Next Session Hypnos will visit Red Owl in the hospital and maybe reveal their identity as Powerstar. He will encounter Mirage, one of Red Owl followers, who is also Adam Ohayon, son of the military base commander. The following week, a big public event will take place in the City – the nature of the event will be determained by the weekly question to the group. The Video Kidz will attack the event. This would be the next big scene. That's our show for today. On the next episode, we'll catch up on what happened with the group in our gaming session and we'll discuss how to proceed. Previously on… Issue #12 The team engaged in battle with the three perps, one of which turned out to be a wonder with the power to manipulate its size, and he grew to be two stories tall. The battle rages on with the Flying Fist and Amraphel on the front line and Oron providing backup from the rear. In order to prevent the team from stopping the bomb, Yuval the Giant took the case and placed it on the second floor of the factory. When the perps realise the bomb is going to explode, they attempt to flee the scene. Seabreeze succeeds in charming one of them, getting him to stay behind. Oron creates a telekinetic moat to prevent the bomb from damaging the surrounding area. It explodes and the team can hear other explosions around the city. Flying fist went back into the building after the bomb exploded, and scoping the place. She finds out a dig underneath the building that was exposed by the explosion. She also discovers the name of the owner of the building, a man by the name of Bayram Iafeth Ajam. After the action calmed down a bit, Oron checks the news to see what happened. A series of explosion rocked the entire city, all of them in empty or abandoned locations. One person was injured and taken to the hospital. In one of the sites, there were reports of a hero fighting the terrorists. An organisation called the Universal Freedom Frontier has taken responsibility for the attacks, in order to free their comrades that are being held in the Bore. Oron uses his telepathy to read the mind of Ron, the perp charmed by Seabreeze. Ron is afraid of missing the designated meeting after the attack but happy that the attack has succeeded as planned. As far as he knows, their plan was exactly what was said in the official statement. Issue #13 Seabreeze wants to go with Ron into the terrorist meetup but the other teammates decide to go home since it’s a school night. Seabreeze ends up giving Ron her phone number and asking him to keep in touch. Amraphel went into the factory to check out the dig Flying Fist found, and his heightened senses told him that the dig was at least a year old. The news has received updates about the bombing, now reporting that the person injured in one of the attacks was, in fact, the hero Red Owl, which was taken to the military hospital for treatment. The hero reported fighting a group of the terrorists was Raziel, a wonder believed to have being killed about 8 years prior. He was a very active wonder during and after the War of Might and was on the founders of SERAPH. On Sunday morning, Oron is wakened up by Michal Simon, a Central Security Service agent that was assigned his case. She tells him about his memories being manipulated and that she is investigating the disappearance of Azem al-Jabari, his former commanding officer. She also reveals that the CSS has surveillance photos of his teammates from their original battle together three weeks ago, as well as of Amraphel from the radio station incident last week. At school, Ami (Amraphel) hears from his friends about a string of robberies around the city, recently hitting a consumer electronics shop one the friends is working at. The robbers are described as looking like children but having weapons and armour that covers them up completely. Amraphel and Seabreeze decide to go and check out the places that were hit in the robberies, or the bomb sites. Seabreeze went back to the city reservoir to get her Kirby-craft. Oron went back to the dormitories to continue his talk with Michal. Current Story Arcs The hero Powerstar believe that the government is trying to abduct prominent wonders. After an unsuccessful attempt to take a radio station hostage, he disappeared and started employing the alias of Red Owl in order to investigate this conspiracy. As Red Owl, he also recruits young wonders (Mirage, Beccy) to form a team that aims to protect the city and work for the greater good. Rave is the crime boss controlling the underworld in the city. Her aim is to keep the balance, to protect the peace of the citizens in the city so that everyone can profit. To that end, she’s searching for the fragments of the Tablet of Anat because she knows that foreign elements are trying to get it, and she doesn’t want the tablet to fall into the wrong hands. However, in this search, she employs blackmail and intimidation, using Typhoon as an enforcer. The other faction looking for the tablet is the Ankh, under the leadership of Bayram Iafeth Ajam, the Jackal. He is searching for the fragments to complete the tablet since he believes it holds a secret for great power. One of the fragments was under a factory yard in the industrial district that was bombed in the UFF attacks. One of the members of the Ankh is Hexen, a young wonder with the abilities to manipulate people’s senses. The fourth faction operating in the city is under the control of Darkness, a powerful wonder that escaped incarceration in the Bore, and has the ability to manipulate memories. Darkness believes that wonders should use their powers however they like, especially if there is a profit to be gained. Their faction was hired by Azem al-Jabari to manipulate Oron’s memories to allow al-Jabari’s squad to defect from the military. Finally, working a string of robberies in the city are the Video Kidz, with the ability to materialise items from the virtual world into reality. The Next Session Flying Fist, that wasn’t in the last session, is going to hear about a bunch of bullies that abuse kids at school. This will give her an opportunity to help people close to her without relying on superpowers. While Oron will be talking with Michal at the military dorms, a super-villain called Fantasia will attack the dorms. She is a powerful reality-manipulator that was taken by the military and trained as a weapon. Now, she seeks revenge against the officer that took her from her family, 10 years ago. That's our show for today. On the next episode, we'll catch up on what happened with the group in our gaming session and we'll discuss how to proceed. "When you decide not to be afraid, you can find friends in super unexpected places." – Ms. Marvel The fifth episode of Forging Ahead with Aviv Manoach, a show about tabletop roleplaying games where Aviv discusses the shenanigans of his home group and prepare their next adventures. Aviv and his group are playing Wonders: Heroes of Tomorrow, the Hebrew adaptation for Masks: a New Generation, in a world were superpowered people are a new phenomenon. You can join live each week on twitch.tv/iceldotme, or subscribe to the podcast's audio on dwarfcast.net. Previously on… It’s Saturday and the team each are doing their own thing. After speaking with her dad about her brother, Tom, The Flying Fist, search the web for any detail she can wind about “Typhoon”. She finds a conspiracy website called Wonder Watch and finds out that Typhoon has been seeing several times near some warehouses in the industrial part of town. Oron searches the local library, as well as online, about the Tablet of Anat. You can read about the real-life mythology of the Baal Cycle, which is what Oron read. Seabreeze went to the local reservoir, the connection to her homeworld. She went on a swim and started having visions of her home, although she doesn’t know which of them are true and which are just her imagination. One of the things she sees are a group of people using equipment from her home, but appearing in this world. Amraphel, in his identity as Ami, helps Alex’s family clean and fix their house after the attack. Tom asks the team to help her search for Typhoon in the industrial district and they all meet later in the evening. The place is mostly deserted at this time of day, and they walk between the lots, Amraphel and Oron using their powers to locate suspicious people. Seabreeze also flying above them to try and see what is going on. They finally come upon a group of people doing something in a factory yard. The team observe their actions and see something that looks like a bomb. So they hop behind the yard’s fence and charge the perps! Adult Heroes We discussed in the last episode two events I wanted to introduce to the game: terrorists that attack the city in order to have their friends released from the superpowered prison; and a super-villain trying to get revenge on the military officer that recruited him. I imagined the terrorist attack will only take place later, but the team deciding to look for Typhoon gave me an opportunity. Besides the team finally having a major fight, which was one of the goals highlighted in the previous episode, I’m going to use this chance to explore a couple of adult heroes. After the battle, the team will hear that this attack was not the only one, but a coordinated effort across the city, all targeting locations that are either empty or abandoned. This will show that the group does not aim to harm people the time. However, despite their efforts, this was not the case. The team will hear about Red Owl being injured in one of the attack locations; they briefly met him before in the Titania fight club (but they don’t know he is, in fact, the former hero Powerstar). They’ll also hear about Raziel, a hero thought to have been dead for several years; he was at the site of the one the attacks and intervened to stop it. Raziel is a new character introduced to the campaign, a wonder that fought in the War of Might and was one of the founders of SERAPH. About two years after the end of the war, he vanished and was thought to be dead. I want to use those heroes to remind the players that they play in an active city with many powerful people. This city isn’t big, but it is a centre of Wonders activity because of its location. Over the course of the campaign, the interest of the outside world in the city is going to rise which in turn is going to bring more villainous activity and more heroics. The Next Session We stopped the previous session with the “enter battle as a team” move, for the first time in this campaign! I’m still considering what to do with the enemies in this fight. Are they normals? Do they have powers? They’re placing a bomb, what will they do if the team prevent them from using it? But as it’s usually the case, I’m going to see what the players decide to do and improvise accordingly. One of the things I like most about Power by the Apocalypse games is that sometimes I come to the session with very little prep and let the players, and the game itself, tell me what happens next. I get to find out what’s going on in the game as much as the players. After this fight, the team will hear in the media about the other attacks in the city, as well as the announcement from the terrorists about their motivation. We’ll see what they decice to do about that, as well as hearing about the adult heroes involvment. On the next day, Sunday, we’re back to the plan from next episode: meeting the new military investigator, learning about the Video Kidz, and having the city attacked by the new super-villain (although I may push this back a bit, depending on what will happen with the terrorists.) That's our show for today. On the next episode, we'll catch up on what happened with the group in our gaming session and we'll discuss how to proceed. In the meantime, you can catch me on twitter @icel, check out more about my games on the Vanor – Games to Amaze page, and can join our the On the Shoulder of Dwarves community group. Melissa goes for a potty break first with the tale of the Red Owl of Hermitage, a bird who’s a little bit racist and oddly sexual, paired with Modern Times Beer’s Ice Pilsner. Then Vanessa straps on a harness for an undead trio of a goose, a chicken and a bear (oh my!), paired with Goose Island Beer Co’s Goose Four Star Pils. Who will win in the battle of poop shoes VS grumpy bears? Listen and find out!

Four days later, its Friday night and the team set to the Titania to infiltrate their Wonders fight club, with Amraphel acting as one of the participants. While Flying Fist and Seabreeze decide to scout the area from the roof, Oron takes a position at the entrance, looking for a weak mind he could connect with to check the club's interior. Oron spots Hexen, the woman the team encountered earlier on the week, that searches for the Tablet of Anat. He also finds some teenagers that are allowed to enter the club despite it being closed for people under 18. He connects with the mind of a partygoer and can sense what is going on inside. Amraphel gets to the meeting spot were Oberon introduce this night's participants: the lead fighters, Red Owl and Razor; and the newcomers: Harpy and Echo, alongside Amraphel himself. Amraphel fights Echo first with the winner facing Harpia. While having a tough start, Amraphel uses the crowd's enthusiasm to negate the Echo's sonic powers, and he beats him. ## City Factions **The Big Issue**: Tyrannical Authorities through Stupidity (Hanlon's razor) * The Titania Club: Rave & Oberon. To keep the city's stability in order to prosper. * The Ankh: Jackal & Hexen. To acquire the Tablet of Anat in order to gain power. * Powerstar. To expose the government conspiracy to abduct wonders. * Darkness. To sell their services to the highest bidder. ## Team's Storylines **Amraphel**: Connected through their friend Alex (a Key Figure) to the Tablet of Anat, Titania tugs tried to blackmail Alex's mother to get a piece of the tablet. **Oron**: Although aware of it yet, Oron's memories were manipulated by Darkness to think that his squadmates and CO were killed in a traffic accident. **Flying Fist**: Her brother Harel, a powerful Aeromancer, was taken by SERAPH, the international superpowers law enforcement agency. **Seabreeze**: She's from a virtual world where everyone is at war between people and monsters. ## The Next Session Continue the fight club, will Amraphel win against Harpy? Bill and Charpie dive into the world that is the first episode of season 3 of Fargo "The Law of Vacant Places". Bill can't help but continue the trend of Big Lebowski references and makes some strange prognostications (STFU Bill...er...Donny). Charpie holds down the sanity of the episode with memories of Red Owl bags. Was Ennis watching season 2 of Fargo on his tv? Was that really a Hugo award? Will Bill and Charpie ever figure out how to play Bridge? All these burning questions will be sort of answered on this episode of Fargo Talks Fargo. It's time to set the scene, eh? You betcha!
