Former FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke — who ran the Bureau's Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program — joins me to break down the psychology behind the JP Miller case and what the federal indictment reveals about predatory behavior and coercive control. A federal grand jury just indicted Myrtle Beach pastor JP Miller on charges of cyberstalking and making false statements to investigators. The charges stem from a documented pattern of harassment against his wife Mica Miller in the months before her death in April 2024. According to the indictment, Miller posted intimate photos of her online without consent, placed tracking devices on her vehicle, contacted her over fifty times in a single day, and lied to federal investigators about sabotaging her car. But the indictment only scratches the surface. Sworn affidavits describe years of coercive control — isolation, financial manipulation, threats, surveillance. Mica told police JP had "groomed" her since she was a child. His first wife says she went to police in 2015 after he confessed to being inappropriate with underage church members. She says they told her no one would believe her. Two civil lawsuits now accuse Miller of sexually assaulting minors in the late 1990s. Both name his father as a co-defendant and allege their churches enabled abuse for decades. And then there's the other death. Today's Headlines: Congress finally voted to reopen the government and the public got a big (and messy) taste of the Epstein files. It started when House Democrats released three emails from Epstein's estate showing him telling Ghislaine Maxwell in 2011 that Trump “knew about the girls.” Hours later, Oversight Chair James Comer just went full chaos mode and dumped 20,000 emails online. The messages include Epstein calling Trump “borderline insane” and “the worst person he knows,” bragging about knowing Trump's schedule during his presidency, and even offering a European official insight into Trump before the 2018 Putin meeting. Meanwhile, Rep. Adelita Grijalva was finally sworn in after being blocked for seven weeks—literally so she couldn't sign the petition forcing a vote to release the Epstein files. Now that she's in, the vote's happening next week. Trump reportedly begged Lauren Boebert to pull her name from the petition, which, shocker, didn't go over well. Even if the House votes yes, the whole thing could still die in the Senate or under Trump's veto. Also yesterday, a judge ordered ICE to release over 300 immigrants who were illegally detained in Illinois, and the White House said October's inflation and jobs reports will never be released—apparently because the government shutdown broke the data pipeline. Today on America in the MorningGovernment Shutdown Ends After 43 days, the United States government is once again open for business.  John Stolnis has the details from Washington.   Demands For Epstein Files Be Released House Democrats upon their return to Washington on Wednesday released a trove of emails related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, including ones involving President Trump, which was followed later in the day by a Republican release of Epstein documents.  As correspondent Ed Donahue reports, with the response to new Epstein emails, a vote on the House floor is expected in the coming days to release all of the Epstein files.  Grijalva Sworn In Seven weeks after she was elected in Arizona, a Democrat Congresswoman is sworn into office, hours before the government shutdown ended.  Correspondent Clayton Neville reports.   Trump Wants Netanyahu Pardoned President Trump wants a pardon in Israel's leader Benjamin Netanyahu's corruption case, and sent a letter to Israel's President.  Correspondent Charles de Ledesma reports any pardon cannot happen until after a trial has ended, and if the current Israeli Prime Minister is found guilty.   Chicago's Catch & Release A federal judge ordered the release of more than 600 people arrested as part of the Trump administration's “Operation Midway Blitz” immigration crackdown in Illinois.  Correspondent Lisa Dwyer reports.   Government Reopens The longest government shutdown in US history has ended with the House passing the spending bill by a vote of 222 to 209.  Even with the government open, it will take time for things to get back to normal, as travelers will still experience some airport delays, and when SNAP recipients receive their full benefits will vary by state.  John Stolnis has a recap from Washington.            Focusing On Healthcare House Democrats and some Republicans are urging a vote on extending Obamacare subsidies, an idea that might get pushback from the White House.  Correspondent Clayton Neville reports.   Hemp Out Of The Spending Bill Even though Congress passed the spending bill with overwhelming GOP support, there are some Republicans who are not happy with one part of the bill – a ban on many THC-infused products, something Kentucky Senators Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul wanted overturned.  Katie Clark reports.   Flight Concerns Remain Even with an end to the government shutdown, flight schedules continue to shrink, and delays and cancellations at the airports are for some making flying intolerable.  Correspondent Ben Thomas reports.   Finally   The U.S. Mint has shut down the presses and ended production of the penny, a change made to save money and in recognition of the growing irrelevance of the 1-cent coin.  Lisa Dwyer reports.
