The bad news? The 0-0 draw at home was convincing at best and downright difficult watch at worst. So what can the Galaxy do? Hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicholaou discuss the Galaxy's woes in their first 270 minutes of soccer in 2026 and why the midfield still feels disconnected. But maybe the defense is stepping it up while the midfield and offense figure it out? No shots allowed on goal for San Miguelito, and the Galaxy have only given up one goal in the first three games (minus the PK against NYCFC). But can the Galaxy's defense do it all? And what happens if the Galaxy get scored on first? Can the offense figure it out before the pressure really ramps up on this team and the coaching staff? Let's talk! -- Corner of the Galaxy is kicking off Season 18, just a few shows past number 1,270! And we can't wait to show you everything we've got in store for 2026! Today I talked to Kathleen Osberger about her book I Surrender: A Memoir of Chile's Dictatorship, 1975 (Oribis Books, 2023). In 1975, Kathleen Osberger, who'd just graduated from Notre Dame University, flew to Chile to teach in a Catholic school in Santiago. She was assigned to live with several religious women, and when she arrived, was told that they would sometimes shelter dissidents who were wanted by the secret police. This was after the CIA assisted coup that overthrew democratically elected president, Salvador Allende in 1973. Augusto Pinochet then ruled Chile as a dictator, clamping down on unrest, journalists, and critics. Those who tried tried to protect some of these dissidents from detention, torture, disappearance, and death were considered traitors and received the same punishment. Kathy Osberger learned all this, but she still wasn't prepared when the secret police came with a warrant for her arrest, forced her into a car, and handed her a blindfold. They soon let her go, but everyone knew they'd come back, and she had to disappear. Kathleen Osberger earned her B.A. at the University of Notre Dame, an M.A. from Maryknoll School of Theology, and an A.M. from the University of Chicago–School of Social Work Administration. Her life was shaped by volunteer experiences when she lived in San Miguelito, Panamá; Santiago, Chile; Chimbote, Perú and the South Bronx. In 1987 she began a seventeen-year relationship with the Maryknoll Lay Missioners as an instructor in their orientation to mission program and in 1993 she joined the University of Chicago Hospitals—Department of Psychiatry. Her work as a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist has centered on the issues of trauma and torture. Learn more about your ad choices. San Miguelito (Antigonon leptopus) is quite the Mexican native plant. I read that it's found in habitat not only in Sonora and Chihuahua and southward, but also Baja California. Unfortunately, where this tough Mexican vine has been introduced as an ornamental in more mesic areas like the southeastern US, it has become an invasive varmint. Sad, but true, so don't go sending seed back to friends in Florida. They already have some. And finally; this episode of Growing Native is a tribute to Tucson and the surrounding wild landscape. It's where I first cut my teeth on native plants and animals and I've been on a marvelous journey ever since. The photo of the flowering San Miguelito is not mine, but stolen from Spadefoot Nursery's website, so a thank you to them.
