The McLaren and Aston Martin Formula 1 teams are preparing for a “Super Sunday” in Brazil. For just the sixth time in the sport's history, both qualifying and the race are taking place on the same day. Stormy weather is testing the teams' resources and resolve at the Interlagos Circuit, home to the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. The teams and drivers arrive at the track at the crack of dawn, ready to think on their feet in a marathon day ahead. After a well-orchestrated performance in Saturday's Sprint Race, Championship contenders McLaren are looking to seize advantage on Sunday. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri know they must work together to claim maximum points for the team. At Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll sense an opportunity in the wet. All the drivers know that rain can level the playing field at any grand prix, and this weekend is no different. It's the Monday after the race before. Brazil's historic Interlagos circuit staged another epic grand prix, and one which may prove pivotal in McLaren's hunt for both World titles. Now, it's time for the Aston Martin and McLaren teams to return to their factories. Back at base, they can analyse their performance with the bulk of the team who don't travel to the races. Aston Martin race engineers Chris Cronin and Andrew Vizard explain how vital the factory debriefs are to understanding what went right - or wrong - after every race, and how to take the learnings into the next event. Drivers Stroll and Alonso may be taking time to recuperate after an epic race weekend but they stay in touch with their engineers and work going on back at base.At McLaren, team boss Andrea Stella is making it his mission to create a winning culture at the factory, as well as at the track. The Italian is only in his second season as team principal but has driven the team into title contention. Back at base, he shares some of the secrets to his success so far.Aston Martin are also plotting a renaissance under new Group CEO Andy Cowell. Our guides Sarah Holt and Holly Samos are given a VIP pass to join the workforce assembled at the heart of the factory as Cowell makes his first address to the team. While Aston Martin are looking to the future, McLaren must focus on the present. This is a team who has won multiple World titles. Now the factory is fixed on ending the 26-year wait for the next Constructors' crown and they are determined to protect their lead over rivals Ferrari and Red Bull. British star Lando Norris hasn't given up his hopes of reeling in reigning champion Max Verstappen in the drivers' standings. With three races left to go in the 2024 season, there is still all to play for. F1:Back at Base is narrated by Josh Hartnett. It is created and produced by Sarah Holt and Holly Samos and is an IMG Production for the BBC.
Lando Norris has admitted he was quote “feeling down” for an entire week following the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, where he finished sixth from pole position. Norris concedes that the race in Brazil has probably decided the championship, with rival Max Verstappen claiming the win from 17th place on the grid.

Tom Clarkson is joined by F1TV commentator Alex Jacques and Brazilian former F1 driver Ricardo Rosset to dissect a chaotic Sao Paulo Grand Prix, as Max Verstappen produced a masterclass in the rain to climb from P17 and claim his first win in 11 races. Was this the greatest of Verstappen's 62 race wins? How did he make his way through the grid in such treacherous conditions? Why was title rival Lando Norris unable to convert pole position into victory? And what does this mean for the Drivers' World Championship, with just three races and one F1 Sprint left in 2024? Alpine teammates Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly explain why their sensational double podium is so special to them and how they as drivers made the difference in wet weather, while Team Principal Oliver Oakes joins the pod to discuss what this result means for Alpine after one of their most challenging seasons in F1. Max Verstappen won a chaotic 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix - let's talk about it.
Lando Norris believes Max Verstappen's win at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix was quote “not talent, just luck”.
Lewis Hamilton says he is already looking forward to Christmas after a quote “terrible” Sao Paulo Grand Prix, in which he only finished tenth. Hamilton is of course Ferrari-bound at the end of the year, which the seven-time champion says can't come soon enough.
Adrian Barich (Barra) stops by ahead of the Melbourne Cup to discuss 'Is it still the race that stops the nation?', and a wrap up of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's Round 21 of the 2023 Formula 1 Season. It's the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. And it's done. Let's talk about it. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Max Verstappen may be running away with wins and re-writing records and history books in 2023, but there is so much more to this season than Verstappen's heroics. Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso, two of the several others who deserved their share or praise and limelight from the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora, @f1statsguru and Kunal Shah review the F1 Sprint and Grand Prix that was hosted at Interlagos. The temperature effect was at play, yet again, as we saw teams with different fortunes and outcomes through the three day weekend. Either way, Interlagos entertained. Yes, built on land unsuitable for housing, Interlagos is definitely most-suitable for racing; irrespective of the race format. The F1 Sprint entertained, as did the Grand Prix. In fact, the last lap drag race between Alonso and Sergio Perez was super fun, too. Are Mercedes going backwards? Did Daniel Ricciardo and Oscar Piastri's opening lap retirement and subsequent rejoining after the Red Flag expose yet another flaw in Formula 1's rule book? They joined the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix a lap down...despite starting from the pit lane on the same lap. Yuki Tsunoda was another such hero through the weekend. In the AlphaTauri, Tsunoda was battling the likes of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. If anything, Mercedes faced a Ferrari-esque race in Sunday's Grand Prix. Usually, Mercedes go quick in race trim, but that wasn't the case at Interlagos. Lots of narratives and fun moments from the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Tune in and re-live most of them. 3 races to go for the 2023 Formula 1 season to conclude...or make that 4 if you are one of those who counts a Sprint as an extra race! Btw, is it the Brazil Grand Prix or the Sao Paulo Grand Prix - what name did you grow up to? Interlagos is a very popular racing venue. It stands for 'between the lakes' in Portuguese. If there's one circuit we don't mind the Sprint at, it's this. Lewis Hamilton's charge to the front in the Sprint and Grand Prix in 2021 is still fresh in our memory. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora, @f1statsguru and Kunal Shah preview the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Will we see a different team step up to claim P2 behind Max Verstappen? Will Verstappen's dominant win-all-races continue at Interlagos? Yes, Red Bull Racing messed it up at Interlagos last year. But most Formula 1 teams don't repeat mistakes. But what do the stats say? As @f1statsguru points out, the pole sitter of the Hungarian Grand Prix has gone to win the Sao Paulo Grand Prix since many years. If this trend continues, Lewis Hamilton will win top honours this Sunday. In this episode, the trio talk about the unique characteristics of Interlagos, expectant weather this weekend, Williams' chances and if Aston Martin's decline in form and results will continue. We've see three different pole sitters in the last three years - remember Kevin Magnussen? And we've had three different race winners in the last three years. Let's see who takes top honours this weekend...two times over! Tune in! (Season 2023, Episode 59) Follow our hosts on Twitter: Soumil Arora, @f1statsguru and Kunal Shah Image courtesy: Red Bull Content Pool
The Sao Paulo Grand Prix hosts a Sprint weekend as Formula 1 heads to Brazil. Mercedes has won the last two races at Interlagos and with Lewis Hamilton's strong form in the last two races, they will fancy their chances. Sean Parker is joined by Mary-Anne Wakefield to preview the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
...and we get the most awkward group picture. Relive the Sao Paulo Grand Prix with this much-delayed episode (more to come in the next episode!) The first lap was a little intense with both K Mag and Danny Ric knocking each other out, we were so excited to see the Mercedes boys back on top again and to see Georgie take home a win. We'll be honest, the F1 season has dragged on a bit in 2021. But the Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend was a cracker, with action and excitement across the board. Kevin Magnussen got his first pole. George Russell got his first win, and then another one straight afterwards. But all everyone is talking about is how much of a colossal bellend Max Verstappen is. Cheeka, Phill and Terry spend most of an hour doing exactly that, and then Terry gives all the teams human names. ENJOY! It's the final race of the season and for the second season running, we have 2 drivers tied on points entering the finale... sort of! Charles LeClerc and Sergio Perez will battle it out for P2 in the Drivers' standings, so perhaps much ado about nothing! The remaining battles are in the constructors, where mathematically, every team besides Red Bull could move up or down based on the results of Sunday's race! What will happen in the final duel in the desert this weekend? Will McLaren produce a performance to overtake Alpine after a disastrous Sao Paulo Grand Prix? Will Mercedes steal P2 from Ferrari? This week on the Cut to the Race podcast, Host Oli is joined by James M, Abby and Sam as the quartet dissect the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, held at the legendary Interlagos in Brazil + Oli plays quizmaster again as he tests the knowledge of the group. Will the trio fare as well as in previous weeks, or will they come up short this time? Arguably the race weekend of the season, each meaningful session provided action and surprises. From first-time pole-sitters to first time winners, there is simply no predicting what Interlagos might offer. Together, the panel discuss those highlights and major talking points. The action and subsequent surprises were helped with a sizeable side of drama, which will no doubt dominate headlines over the coming days and weeks. The third and final sprint weekend of the 2022 season, the festivities in Brazil were the best advert for the format that F1 has seen thus far. First, it produced the qualifying session of the year and perhaps the most popular pole position in recent memory. Changeable weather conditions caused chaos and confusion at Ferrari, George Russell set up his weekend perfectly by accident, and Haas acted quickly when it mattered most. https://www.formulanerds.com/news/a-red-flag-and-surprise-pole-position-in-the-sao-paulo-qualifying/ Then, tensions ran high between teammates at both Alpine and Aston Martin in the sprint, with penalties applied to guilty parties. Verstappen fell back whilst Hamilton surged through, and there was no shortage of quality wheel-to-wheel racing, and there was a small sign of things to come at Red Bull. https://www.formulanerds.com/news/sao-paulo-grand-prix-sprint-race-results/ The grand prix saw safety cars, diverging strategies and the Mercedes duo confirming their apparent renaissance. There was action throughout and drama aplenty. Verstappen and Hamilton came to blows again, Alpine grabbed the initiative in their battle with McLaren and fractures are starting to show at Red Bull. But the question is, how serious could the implications be? https://www.formulanerds.com/news/sao-paulo-grand-prix-race-results/ https://www.formulanerds.com/news/perez-on-verstappen-it-shows-who-he-really-is/ https://www.formulanerds.com/news/hamilton-you-know-how-it-is-with-max-as-pair-come-together-again/ -- Keep up to date with all the latest Formula 1 News @ www.formulanerds.com -- Follow Us: Facebook - www.Facebook.com/FormulaNerds Twitter - www.twitter.com/Formula_Nerds Instagram www.instagram.com/FormulaNerds -- For Advertising & Sponsorship Opportunities:- Email Business@FormulaNerds.com Learn more about your ad choices. The reason for Ferrari's lack of pace in Mexico (5:36) Lando Norris and his future (11:36) Dennis Hauger's switch to MP (26:06) Jack Doohan and his role at Alpine and why Alpine are, again, mishandling a situation with a young driver (30:30) Stoffel Vandoorne joining Aston Martin as a reserve and what it means for Nico Hulkenberg's potential future (43:28) F1 in Vegas over the weekend (47:14) A preview of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix (50:28) A chat about all time F1 cars and competitive balance (69:30) Moto GP finale (76:56) And, to finish, F1 eSports (79:34)
With the motorsports season quickly coming to a close, Phil and Josh have plenty to discuss on E86 of the GSP. The guys start with Max Verstappen's latest dominant performance at the Mexican GP as he gets closer to his first World Driver's Championship and possibly Red Bull's first Constructor's Title since 2013. Phil and Josh discuss the issues for Mercedes and other key storylines from the midfield. NASCAR finished their 2021 season by crowning three new champions in the national touring series. Kyle Larson ends one of the most dominant seasons with a 10th victory and his first Cup Series title but it wasn't easy. At least three of the four championship drivers had a chance during the day. Daniel Hemric used the last lap, last corner bump-and-run to move Austin Cindric for his first XFinity win and the championship. Ben Rhodes didn't win the race but definitely won the party after a drunken post-race celebration as he becomes a Truck Series champ in his sixth full season. The Roundup covers WEC at Bahrain II, Supercars at Sydney II and III, MotoGP and Moto2 at Algarve II along with the Valencia finale, IMSA Petit Le Mans and Kyle Kirkwood signing with AJ Foyt Racing to drive the iconic No. 14. Phil and Josh preview the Sao Paulo Grand Prix with picks along with what Lewis Hamilton/Mercedes must do to stop the Red Bull tide. Football/Fantasy Football is discussed along with Josh's Sim Segment before the show close.
E ai galera! You didn't think the BFP crew was going to NOT cover the Brazilian Grand Prix... or is it the Sao Paulo Grand Prix? Wait, never mind that for now because the crew is here to set the record straight on Michael Massi's TSDE! Sara dubs one lucky racer the moniker of Mr. Friday and raises her ire at the ineffectiveness of the FIA. Breno is impressed with Toto Wolff's timing and forgets to mention Hamilton's charge up the field. With a sad heart the crew is forced to choose sides as the world may have witnessed the break up of Carlando. But there's still much to celebrate! Sam and Wes are back to discuss the Sao Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos where Lewis Hamilton completed one of the most stunning drives of his career, making up 25 places over the course of the weekend to win the race, and eat into Max Verstappen's championship lead. The race didn't go without controversy though, where Verstappen ran both himself and Hamilton off track at turn four - an action which the stewards decided didn't need penalising, but Mercedes since used their right to review the incident since Verstappen's onboard footage - which wasn't available at the time - has now been released. The duo also chat about the upcoming inaugural Qatar Grand Prix at Losail International Circuit with differing opinions on the track, and they reflect upon the news regarding Alfa Romeo's driver lineup for 2022.
In this episode, we discuss an emotional return to Sao Paulo, the Hamilton v.
