This week we look at what's going on at Silverstone, as we count down to the British Grand Prix in a few weeks' time, the UK's largest ticketed event. We look at how the Grand Prix is broadcast with Channel 4 TV presenter Lee McKenzie. Lee gives her view on Lewis Hamilton's struggles at Ferrari. And as a woman who has worked in the F1 industry for over 15 years, she gives her take on how F1 has managed to get to 42% of its fanbase being female. We also have the latest in our series of race promoter interviews. James Allen travels up to Silverstone to meet with CEO Stuart Pringle, who tells us how his team handle 480,000 fans over four days, how Silverstone is becoming more than just a race venue and we get into the thorny question of ticket pricing. Don't miss the chance to compete against our expert writers on Motorsport's hugely popular F1 Fantasy League. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/race-our-writers-motorsport-launches-its-first-ever-featured-league-on-f1-fantasy/10702182/ Send your comments or questions to: @jamesallenonf1 on X/Twitter or jamesallenonf1@autosport.com. On this week's episode of And Colossally That's History! Matt and Richard wind the clock back to 1950, as they reappraise the very first race of the F1 world championship era, which took place at Silverstone on May 13. Along the way, they look at the origins of the term ‘Formula 1', dig into the debate over where the first race run to Formula 1 regulations actually took place, and explain why Alfa Romeo emerged as the dominant force in the post-war years, leading up to Silverstone. They also discuss the strange origins of Silverstone as a race venue, before chatting about the wonderful ensemble of drivers that assembled at the former bomber base for the first race - a remarkable list that included a Thai royal, a Colditz Castle POW, and a gigolo, but NO representative from Ferrari. And finally, they look back on the race itself, which was won by man who, to quote the great Juan Manuel Fangio, “Drove like a madman...” Matt and Richard will be bringing members an exclusive Q&A episode at the end of Season 3, where they'll answer questions on each of the topics covered. Frankly, the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix is Lando Norris' best chance to make BIG inroads into Max Verstappen's 59 points lead in the Drivers' Championship. If McLaren score 1-2 (Norris-Piastri), and they're capable of doing so, they will score their 50th 1-2 in Formula 1 history. But crucially, if Max Verstappen 7th or 8th (assuming Red Bull Racing is the fourth fastest car + all cars finish), then Norris could out-score Verstappen by nearly 20 points. 6 races remain after Singapore, and a 35-something lead will seem far more surmountable, especially since 3 rounds have the Sprint + Grand Prix format (34 points per round). Hence, the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix will either thrown the door wide open for Norris in the Drivers' Championship OR shut it a bit more firmly. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora and Kunal Shah preview the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix. They discuss the circuit's characteristics and why this race is special for Formula 1 teams and drivers - it offers a physical, mental and mechanical challenge like no other. Also, will McLaren use "papaya rules" even more firmly if Norris *has* the chance to score big against Verstappen, even if that means asking Piastri to give up a race win!? Lots of stories and narratives to play out this weekend, starting with our 2024 Singapore Grand Prix preview episode. Tune in! Although some security professionals are proud to make someone fumble during the interview process, Sándor and Steve share how to bring out the best version of someone to see if they are the right fit.CM Squared (8:56)Sándor shares the CM (or CM Squared) Model, a document he uses when auditing different companies' security systems to find their faults. With this model, Sándor can simplify technologies for business leaders and enhance their protections.Like an F1 Race (15:30)Like F1 racing, Sándor believes software development is a team effort. To help emphasize this metaphor, Sándor explains how different members of security teams mirror the roles of a racing crew.Team Strategies (19:49)When Sándor evaluates his role as a leader, he thinks of his staff as a soccer team. His team needs to score “goals,” and as their “coach,” it is his job to guide them.He also shares his motto, “Do something you like, do something you're good at, and contribute.”The New CISO (27:12)To Sándor, being a new CISO means “keep it simple.” Making things too complicated does not stop cyber crimes.
