Existen infinidad de músicas. Casi podríamos afirmar que existen tantas músicas como personas que las escuchan porque, como ya he dicho en algún episodio anterior, una misma composición suena diferente dependiendo de la persona que la escucha, de su nivel cultural, social, familiar e, incluso, dependiendo del preciso momento en que la escucha. El episodio anterior era de esos acabados en cero. Los que sois veteranos ya sabéis que eso significa que está dedicado a la música espacial. Y esa es también una música especial. No todos podemos disfrutarla de la misma manera (de hecho, algunos me habéis hecho saber que la aborrecéis) pero en mí tiene una fuerza especial; esa conexión cósmica con el Universo y todo lo que conlleva siempre ha ejercido un influjo poderoso en mí a la hora de escucharla. Hoy os traigo uno de esos discos que marcaron una época directamente ligado a esto que os acabo de contar pero, al margen de las connotaciones espaciales, existen otras músicas que, por su calidad, por su implicación personal, por su conexión con nuestras emociones, resultan ser música celestial. La music story du jour c'est celle de Saycet… Ne me dites pas qu'avec ces températures, et cette météo, vous n'avez pas des envies d'ailleurs ! Ça tombe bien aujourd'hui, ça va parler Saycet, ce producteur d'une électro rêveuse, qui nous emmène loin, très loin. Où ça ? Bah ça c'est à vous de choisir mais la musique de Saycet est la parfaite BO pour votre voyage ! Une bande son en profondeur faite de couches, de strates, d'ailleurs son dernier album s'appelle « Layers » dont est extrait notamment « Timelapse »

Ce n'était pas forcément le cas au début du siècle, mais il semblerait que le cinéma français en pince aujourd'hui pour les musiciennes et les musiciens issu.e.s de la scène électronique hexagonale : Chloé, Para One, Arnaud Rebotini, Laurent Garnier, Agoria, Rone... pour n'en citer que quelques-uns. Et pour tout vous dire ça fait bien plaisir car malgré plus de 30 ans d'existence, un musée à Détroit, des récompenses, un engouement public et j'en passe, c'est comme si les musiques électroniques devaient encore démontrer leur légitimité, si l'on en juge par la répression dont elles font parfois toujours l'objet dans certains pays. Ce qui fait plaisir aussi c'est de voir aussi comment la musique à l'image permet à des artistes aux univers parfois singuliers, qui ne caracolent pas en tête des streams, de continuer à vivre de leur passion. Au-delà de ces considérations, c'est vrai que dans sa nature aussi la musique électronique est un formidable outil d'expression pour une nouvelle garde de cinéastes, comme par exemple le duo FGKO, qui dont le dernier film vient de sortir en salles. Un film dont le titre est déjà tout un univers sonore en soi qui a sans doute inspiré mon invité du jour quand il s'est attaqué à la bande originale. Ce film il s'appelle, Du crépitement sous les néons, et celui qui signe cette BO, c'est le musicien parisien, Saycet. Place des Fêtes épisode 180, en direct sur tsugiradio.fr.

Une évolution à rebours d'une époque saturée qui essore souvent les artistes et qui a fait de Pierre Lefeuvre une pièce maîtresse du paysage de la musique électronique française depuis 15 ans. France's Doctor Flake starts to dub it out, then we hear some classic roots reggae from The Prophets. Senegal's Afro-Cuban-Carribbean fusion stars Orchestra Baobab vibe it out followed by NYC's Tonikom. Pitch Black gets us back into the dub groove and we get dark and deep with an old one from Skream. The French-Cuban sisters who form Ibeyi remix one of their own then we hear from Denmark's Mø. The Paris idm project Saycet finish the show off with two cuts from their One Day At Home album. Cold and foggy has been the vibe here in the Howe Sound the last week and the mood has set in. We kick it off with some high energy dnb-esque beats from Wisp and Squarepusher. We get a little melcancholy with a coupe nice tracks from Saycet and Weldroid plus Ninjatune's Eskmo. After the break we get really moody with some dark, dubby techno from Grad_U, M. Rahn and we close up the hour with a nice one from Deadbeat. It all starts with some nice esoteric IDM courtesy of French outfit Saycet. The vibe continues in the euro IDM vein skittering and pulsing along Emancipator and Mnemonic until we get to the more solid beats of Slouch. Spliffs begin to blaze as we settle into blunted beats and sleepy hiphop courtesy of some old school Nightmares On Wax and Montreal's own mega-talent Killa-Jewel, from her debut release. A detour through Philip Glass and then DJ Shadow drops one of his most powerful ambient tunes leading us into the jazz-inflected, slow motion vocals of Jimmy Scott singing an ode to Agent Cooper. This week starts with a great track from Little People, travels to Norway for some Xploding Plastix. The French hip hop collective of Chinese Man features the use of a sample from Washboard Rhythm Kings' recording of Hummin' To Myself. We get into some underground hip hop from the Pacific Northwest with Blue Scholars, down to LA with some AWOL One, and out east with Aesop Rock. We glitch it up a bit with Berlins' Christian Kleine, into some Ms. John Soda and Paris' Saycet. The show closes by taking it down a notch with Deaf Center, some Clint Mansell & Kronos Quartet, and the solid songwriting and soprano voice of Joel Thibodeau's Death Vessel. Long walks on the Isle of Wight have inspired us for this specific podcast: The Needles is the outer West Wight: it is a row of three distinctive stacks of chalk that rise out of the sea off the western extremity of the Isle of Wight, England, close to Alum Bay. The Needles lighthouse stands at the end of the formation. Built in 1859, it has been automated since 1994. The formation takes its name from the former fourth needle-shaped pillar called Lot’s Wife that used to stand in its midst until it collapsed in a storm in 1764. The remaining rocks are all short and squat and not at all needle-like, but the name has stuck. Orangecello Cake Recipe Ingredients: 2-15 oz can mandarin oranges 1 box of Pillsbury Moist Supreme Pineapple frac12; cup of reserved juice from oranges frac12; cup of Caravella Orangecello 2 eggs 1/3 cup of oil 1 cup chopped pecans Glaze 1 cup of sugar frac12; stick of butter 3oz of Caravella Orangecello frac14; cup of chopped pecans Directions: Preheat oven. Spray Bundt Pan with Crisco Pillsbury Flour. Mix 1 cup of chopped pecans with 2 teaspoons of sugar then sprinkle in pan. Mix eggs, oil, orangecello, cake mix, frac12; cup of reserved juice. Blend well. Add 2 cans of drained oranges and Blend on high for a couple of minutes. Pour immediately into pan and place in oven on 325 for dark coated pan or 350 for regular coated pan for 45 minutes---You want a nice brown crust. Turn oven off and leave cake in for another 15 minutes. *Check with toothpick for nice clean stick before turning off oven. Make glaze while cake is in the oven, let cool and thicken.
