Turahn Dorsey joins the Cultivating Connections podcast to discuss his extensive work in the nonprofit, public, and private sectors to promote economic mobility and equity. He outlines the Eastern Bank Foundation's mission to bridge gaps in prosperity by investing in small business ecosystems, early childhood development, affordable housing, and workforce development. Rahn notes their long term investments in areas where sustained commitment is necessary to address deep-rooted inequities. Rahn also discusses Eastern Bank's ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) despite the changing climate. The conversation also touches on Rahn's previous roles, including his time as Boston's education chief under Mayor Marty Walsh, where he helped launch the Boston pre-K initiative. He reflects on the importance of collaboration and strong relationships in achieving lasting policy change. Additionally, Rahn shares insights from his research at ABT Associates on social capital, recounting a project in rural South Dakota where community bonds and local agency led to innovative economic development. He connects these lessons to his current work in Boston's Nubian Square, underscoring the power of community-driven efforts and the importance of investing in places such as Roxbury with deep cultural and historical significance. Rahn will be recognized on May 7th as one of the 2025 SCI Idealist Award recipients. Join SCI on May 7th to celebrate Rahn!
What do you do when you quit your day job? Of course, you produce a docuseries on medical alert service dogs! After 39 years in real estate, including commercial, investment, corporate and brokerage, it was time to use his gifts, talents, skills and resources to make a difference. In addition to working in real estate, Rahn worked in film, doing commercials, industrials, TV and voiceover through the years. Rahn asked, as a follower of Jesus Christ, what project can I use my gifts, talents, experience and resources to make a difference? The result, 'The Doguseries' and ‘This Paw's For You' podcast. His first three short films out of the gate, as Executive Producer, ‘Zoomtime', ‘Birthday Brash' and 'Lifeless: A Musical Zomedy' have been award winning. Rahn and his wife, Holly, live in the Pacific Northwest and when not working on projects, enjoy the opportunity for various outdoor activities that the area has to offer and building their five and half-acre homestead project, church and ministry ventures.

Recorded on November 8th, 2024. In this podcast, we welcome Lisa Rahn, Chief Product Officer at eDynamic Learning, to discuss the company's impact on rural education. Lisa shares that eDynamic Learning, founded by a high school teacher in 2008, provides online career and education resources for middle and high schools. This approach reduces the cognitive load on teachers and students, maintaining a consistent design across courses. Lisa emphasizes the importance of universal design for learning (UDL) principles, integrating multimodal content, interactive features, and flexible response options for student engagement. She also highlights CTE pathways aligned with industry certifications, enabling students to gain career-ready skills and certification opportunities before graduation. Addressing rural challenges, Lisa explains how eDynamic Learning provides instructional services with state-certified teachers for specialized courses and professional development for local educators. Whether it's a nanny taking us to school or a home health aide helping us age in place, most of us will rely on paid caregivers at some point in our lives. For the next two episodes, we'll talk to professional caregivers about the emotional and economic reality of the intimate work they do. In episode one, we hear from two eldercare workers: Rahn*, whose relationships with patients have helped heal emotional wounds from his childhood, and Tita Rose, a Filipina immigrant who uncovered exploitation at a nursing home. Plus Goldi, a nanny, recounts how she handled a father's inappropriate advances and how that experience changed her approach to working for parents. *We used first names or pseudonyms in this story. Life's journey often feels like a roller coaster, filled with moments of extreme clarity and times of profound confusion. When my second daughter was born, a sudden emergency alarm at the hospital threw us into a state of panic, only to reveal it was a test—a metaphor for the divine trials we face each day. These tests, as discussed through insights from Parshas Re'eh and the teachings of Rav Yerucham Levavitz, challenge and strengthen our faith, reminding us to see them as opportunities for spiritual growth and reaffirmation of our devotion to Hashem.Imagine standing firm in your beliefs amidst miraculous signs opposing you. Such was the case for Rabbi Eliezer, who faced the collective resolve of the sages in a dramatic Talmudic debate. Despite heavenly affirmations of his stance, the sages upheld the principle of "Lo b'shemayim hi"—the Torah is no longer in the heavens. This episode delves into how this event, interpreted by the Rahn, was a divine test to see if the sages would remain true to the traditions of Sinai, emphasizing the importance of earthly interpretation of Torah law and the unwavering dedication to halachic decision-making.Facing life's challenges with steadfast faith is central to our spiritual journey. Drawing from the Ramchal's "Mesilat Yesharim," we discuss how moments of anxiety, financial loss, and other fears are tests to prove our love and commitment to Hashem. With personal stories, such as learning CPR from my eighth-grade Rebbe, we illustrate the immediate steps to take when crises arise, both physically and spiritually. By embracing these challenges as opportunities, we can stay on the path of Hashem, recognizing that these trials are integral to our growth and devotion.Support the Show.Join The Motivation Congregation WhatsApp community for daily motivational Torah content!Elevate your impact by becoming a TMC Emerald Donor! STORYPOWER TV INTERVIEW WITH REVIVAL MOM PODCAST HOST ALYSSA RAHN AND J LOREN NORRIS “Making a difference in the world is the ambition of most leaders. Reality is sad to acknowledge, some leaders will stop short of leaving a lasting impact due to a lack of strategy. They have no plan. Others will fail to demonstrate the needed influence in the lives of those they interact with regularly. They have no access to persuade. Finally, there are leaders who choose to influence closely, invest deeply and apply a strategy which has been proven successful for over twenty centuries. Members of the Tuscarora Nation of North Carolina recently visited the state legislature to push for a House bill that would grant them formal state recognition as an American Indian tribe. They've been fighting for the benefits provided to other tribes for decades, and the history of conflict stretches back centuries to the 1700s war between Tuscarora ancestors and British colonists. House Speaker Tim Moore says the recognition bill is unlikely to move forward, in part due to opposition from the Lumbee Tribe, the Tuscarora Nation's neighbors in Robeson County. To learn more about the Tuscarora Indians and their push for state recognition, WUNC's Colin Campbell spoke with Rahnàwakęw Donnie McDowell, the Tuscaroras' public relations officer.

It's all in the data, right? But what's good is the data if you don't know how to utilize the information? In this episode of "The Sales Evangelist Podcast," Host Donald Kelly chats with Derek Rahn about current sales data trends and the need for sellers to niche down within their industry. Tune in and discover how to help you build your pipeline and close twice as many deals as you are now. Derek Rahn's Background Derek has over 15 years of experience in sales and marketing, specifically within the B2B space. He is the VP of demand generation of Lead Genius, which crafts tools to help companies find their ideal customers. His position allows him to see the current trends and changes within the sales industry. Challenges in the SaaS Landscape One challenge Derek sees within the SaaS industry is that too many team members interact with one customer. This harms the client's relationships with the company and can easily cause misunderstandings. He suggests limiting the number of employees speaking with potential clients during the sales process. Derek also noticed that sales representatives have too much going on with their daily workloads. For example, IC roles are becoming more management-oriented due to the increased team size. He explains whether this has a positive or negative impact on sales companies. Current Sales Data Trends One trend that Derek notes is the rise of verticalization within the industry. The old method of selling was based on geographical areas, and sales reps would know the insides and outs of the business within this region. However, the way sales companies niche down is different now, thanks to remote work. The focus shifts towards pain points, subject matters, and specific industries. For example, there used to be only two well-known CRMs that were used for all industries. Now, there are millions of CRMs for specific industries. The second trend Derek observes is that sales companies must actively target SMBs. This is because there's a need to continue growing revenue, and more data tools are needed to help sales teams reach SMBs. Utilizing the Data as a Sales Leader Derek shares how sales leaders can utilize data effectively to help their teams reach goals. He suggests starting with the ICP and segmenting it into different, unique categories. He also explains how he helped a company break down its ICP categories and their benefits. The money is in the data! Pay attention to your data if you want your sales company to reach its fullest potential. This is where you'll find everything you need to grow your business. Listen to this episode to discover how to use data effectively and why you must niche down! “If teams want to see more success, automation is the only way to achieve this.” - Derek Rahn. Is God calling you to something but shame and guilt stand in the way? Alyssa believes that revival starts in our homes and it can start with mom. There are many moms out there who may be feeling like they can't pursue anything outside of being a wife and mother. And not that there's anything wrong with being a wife and mother. However, if you feel like there's more that God has put on your heart and you don't think you have permission to go after anything more, it can be frustrating. Alyssa knows firsthand what it means to make room for your dreams amid motherhood, raising a family, and being a wife. Something powerful begins to happen when we make space for those God-given desires in our lives. It's like that part of us that was once hidden begins to come alive and it affects every other area of our lives, including those we care so much about, our family. The kids get to see their mom on fire for God and the things of God. Others begin to dream with God, too. It sparks revival in her home.
