The chrysanthemums are dying. The yellow flowers face downward, stems wilting at the neck. Their petals curl and brown at the edges like burning paper. You lift one of the ragged blossoms up, as if to try and help it support its own weight. You keep the flowerpot on the kitchen countertop right by the apartment window where it can get the most sunlight, but it doesn't seem to be enough.

This episode is straight FIRE! Want to know what it takes to make these episodes? I spill the beans! Let's start with this reminder, “You often feel tired, not because you've done too much, but because you've done too little of what sparks a light in you.” - by ALEXANDER DEN HEIJER in a book titled - “Nothing you don't already know” Where does that light come from? We know that Jesus Christ is the Light of the World. Elder Jeffrey R Holland puts it so perfectly, “when those majestic forces from His heart and ours meet without restraint, there is a veritable explosion of spiritual, moral power. Then, as Pierre Teilhard de Chardin wrote, “for [the] second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.” What's up with the Letter and Episode numbers? Each episode (episode numbers) will focus on one or a couple of the principles found in my C.R.U.S.H. Framework. The framework is designed to set you up perfectly to CRUSH satan's head and accelerate our healing because we are discovering and using our gifts in this organized way. U = Unearth the Unexpected. We will find healing when we choose to unearth the unexpected parts of us, those parts we might be refusing to use right now. What are you waiting for!?! "Don't set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm!" Today's episode is about letting yourself take care of YOU instead of giving up your needs, wants, and wishes just to make others happy. Episode 8: You don't have to set yourself on fire to keep others warm Today we meet with Karina, Dee, and Pamela, survivors and military mental health advocates, to discuss an incredibly important topic about mental health and healing. Each of us are survivors of trauma, but it doesn't define us. This is a raw and authentic discussion about military life, trauma, and learning to set healthy boundaries while we both heal and advocate for others. Some important key topics from today: Setting healthy boundaries dealing with triggers navigating cultural barriers healing through re-trauma knowing your limitations maladaptive coping how to navigate the advocacy space in a healthy way personal accountability and self reflection dealing with negative people when you come out with your story publicly having self compassion as a survivor asking yourself why and how to not self blame At time stamp 1:33, we added Karina's story of surviving Ft Hood. We wanted to make sure it was shared because it is such an important conversation and story to share. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sherohotline/support

Matthew Rodriguez is the embodiment of what it means to be #INFORTHEKILL. In my mind, it is the person who does whatever it takes to succeed and move forward in life. Life throws you curveballs every second it gets, but Matthew dodges, adjusts and keeps pressing forward. Grit is what moves Matthew forward. Young musician, he was at the right place, at the right time. Playing guitar since he was 15, he loves playing and enjoys creating music. He now teaches the guitar to young kids and adults looking to connect with the instrument. His band is called Pyriscent, which means growing through fire. Sometimes this is what you need to grow. Just like pressure makes diamonds, the fire wipes out everything and lets you begin anew. You cannot reach a next level being the person you were yesterday. At the end of the episode, Matthew shared a song with us and gave his all on the performance. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out Pyriscent on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzatl-W9CVmRo3owsKUEh7g Follow in Instagram https://www.instagram.com/pyriscent/?hl=en

Do you ever feel guilty for taking time off as a teacher? Do you ever push yourself to breaking point and have the belief that a good teacher needs to burn their candle to light up others? Podcast 243: Set Yourself on Fire with Phil Taylor by Greg Voisen
We’re talking about setting ourselves on fire.
This is the story of a fellow runner by the name of Katie who fought a good fight in that all too familiar way where all options are gone and the only thing left to do was to make a terrible agonizing choice: “When you have nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire”
