Arianne Zucker talks her recent Emmy nomination, balancing work and life, and shares the story of her very first audition!About Arianne:Four-time Emmy-nominated actress Arianne Zucker has played many roles, but she is best known for the character of Nicole Walker on NBC's hit daytime drama, “Days of Our Lives”. Arianne played the role from 1998-2017 and 2018-present. Zucker has aired in over 1600 episodes, multiple movies, and new media programming giving her 1000's of hours experienced screen time.Arianne began her career in modeling when she was 16 years old. She soon traveled to Paris, France after winning her first modeling contest. From there she has traveled to Australia, Japan landing herself New York City. During this time, Arianne also booked several national commercials such as Mazda Miata and McDonald's. During her career on Days of Our Lives, Arianne also began to generate work in primetime television by landing the role of Brenda Collette in CSI:Miami (2006). Her work was noticed by writer Karen Harris, (General Hospital, All MY Children) and was asked to play the role Winnifred Marshall in “Life in General” (2008). As web series began to become popular, “Devantiy”, an Emmy-nominated web series chose Arianne to guest star as Julie Regis (2013) as the uptight sister of Andrew Regis, the ruthless jewelry scion. In 2018, Arianne won an Independent Series Award for her role as Clara in “ Ladies of the Lake”. Zucker also has been fortunate to play different characters for multiple Lifetime movies such as “Killer Assistant, Web Cam Girls, Ex-Wife Killer and His Perfect Obsession.In the year of 2016, during the presidential election, Zucker found herself in the center of a controversy with then, Republican nominee, Donald Trump and Billy Bush over some unsavory words said about women known as "The Access Hollywood Tapes". Keeping her composure, she aired on Anderson Cooper and wrote an Op Ed for CNN. Without allowing these circumstances to change her or what she strives for in her career, Zucker continues to move forward. While in between acting jobs, Arianne keeps herself quite busy. She co-created the non-profit organization ARROW-HEART Adventure Camps in September of 2007 with her brother Todd Zucker. The organization operates out of a small town in Weiser, Idaho. The camp enriches teen's lives through outdoor adventure. ARROW-HEARTS biggest adventure so far was creating a short documentary on the camp in South Africa in 2012.Zucker has found success in opening a Life Coaching business called "Aloha Life Coaching" with her fiance' Shawn Christian. Shawn Christian can be currently seen as Dr. Daniel Jonas on NBC Daytime's "Days of our Lives." Prior to joining this show, Christian was first remembered originating the role of Mike Kasnoff from former CBS Daytime soap, "As the World Turns." After leaving the show in 1997, he later was briefly seen on ABC Daytime's "One Life to Live." From there, he went to Los Angeles, and starred in the series, "Summerland," for two season before it was canceled. This interview, we talked about his time on ATWT, as well what we can possibly expect coming up for his character on DAYS.
A native of Grand Rapids, Mich., Shawn Christian has enjoyed a successful and varied career as an actor. After graduating from Michigan’s Ferris State University with a Marketing degree, Shawn relocated to Chicago. Christian then landed the role of working class anti-hero Mike Kasnoff on the CBS daytime drama “As the World Turns.” Christian moved to Los Angeles and landed recurring roles on ABC’s “Boston Legal” and NBC’s “Crossing Jordan” and “Las Vegas.” He returned to his comic roots in the HBO series “12 Miles of Bad Road,” in the role of Rachel’s gynecologist on “Friends” and in guest starring roles on “The Drew Carey Show,” “Ellen,” “Will and Grace,” “Becker” and “Coupling.” Christian also starred opposite Lori Loughlin in The WB’s hit series “Summerland” and the CBS movie “Undercover Christmas.” Additional television work includes: “C.S.I.,” “Shark,” “Ghost Whisperer,” and lead roles in the action drama pilots “Red Skies” for USA and “Spy Girl.” Christian played the role of convicted killer Danny Pelosi in Lifetime’s Original Movie “Murder in the Hamptons.” He can also be seen in Christopher Guest’s feature film “For Your Consideration” and “Shopgirl,” “How To Leave Your Lover,” “Almost You,” “Beautiful” and the lead in the cult franchise hit “Tremors III,” as the offbeat Zen cowboy Jack Sawyer. Mouths around the soap world collectively dropped this weekend as the unthinkable happened. The recently-renewed Days of Our Lives, fired its biggest supercouple Deidre Hall (Dr. Marlena Evans) and Drake Hogestyn (John Black). In this special episode of the DC podcast Luke, Mike and Jamey invite veteran soap journalist Nelson Branco (TV Guide Canada's The Suds Report) and former Days writer Tom Casiello to weigh in from the perspective of industry insiders.Reactions to the shocking news are gauged from the panel, including: Branco, who reveals Days of Our Lives was the first soap he ever watched and how he first fell in love with the ravishing Hall even before discovering Andrea Evans and One Life to Live; and Casiello, who during his last few months on the soap before the Writers' Strike, was part of a team under Hogan Sheffer that was forced to script out the soap's "Big Four" (Hall, Hogestyn, Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell) due to their reported astronomical salaries and ultimately made the decision to kill of the wildly-popular character of John Black— since they were prohibited from using Hogestyn— only to see executive producer Ken Corday panic about fan response and order them to bring the character and actor back.The DC gang also give their perspective based on their varying histories with the show. Jamey, who has been watching the show for the better part of three decades, reveals his dismay that lower level stars like Molly Burnett, Shelly Hennig, Josh Taylor, Thaao Penghlis, Leanne Hunley and Shawn Christian weren't cut first before the show even considered touching the Big Four; Mike, who watched in the early 80's and only recently tuned back in, conveys he still can't believe the show hired Josh Taylor, who once played Roman and Marlena's pal Chris Kositchek as a recast for Wayne Northrop's Roman, with Branco adding that move was a "Jump The Shark" moment for him as well before noting that Taylor is good friends with Corday; Luke, who has watched Days sine the 90's, speculates the brass could be moving to strategically weed out most of the show's veteran performers to repackage Days for an eventual sale to ABC or SOAPnet.The discussion then moves to what this means for the future of Days of Our Lives and the genre as a whole. If an international superstar like Hall isn't safe, who could be next? Reckell? Alfonso? Sweeney? Taking it a step further, will other soaps start to think their top stars are expendable?
