In this episode, we visit with Gordon Bosworth, a practicing physiotherapist from the UK who has over forty years of experience in a myriad of roles. His early career was spent as part of the Royal Air Force in Physical training and later physiotherapy. After several tours of duty, he left the RAF and became the head of rehabilitation at the police rehab center in Goring on the Thames and at the same time moved into private practice. He worked as a physiotherapist for the British Bobsleigh and Bob-Skeleton Team from 1996-2006 including 4 years as Performance Director and was a member of the Great Britain Teams at the Winter Olympic Games in Nagano, Salt Lake City, and Torino. He was appointed Medical Lead for the Canadian Speed Skating Team at the Vancouver Olympics, and as Chief Physiotherapist to United Kingdom Athletics at the London Games. He attended Sochi Holding Camp 2014 with Canada and was a member of the Canadian Medical Team for the Winter Games in South Korea. Gordon has attended numerous World Championships in the Sports of Bobsleigh & Bob-Skeleton, Long and Short Track Speed Skating, and Athletics. He has also acted as a Consultant to several Professional football teams including Liverpool. Bolton, Wigan, Derby County, Queens Park Rangers, and Sunderland, as well as the Cornish Pirates Rugby Team. He is currently working with London Irish RFC and acts as a Mentor to several Medical Teams including ALTIS & UKA and various Medical and S&C Professionals. He also lectures to Post Graduate Medical Professionals on Performance-related and Insidious onset type issues. Gordon does not just treat elite sportsmen and women, he applies his skills and knowledge to the general population regardless of age or sporting interest. He also integrates with and works in conjunction with professionals from all disciplines which makes for a truly multidisciplinary, holistic approach to injury management. Above all of his accomplishments, Gordon has been married for 31 years and has two daughters and three grandchildren. I am honored to have him on the show today, welcome Gordon.

In this episode, Doc talks to author Doctor Julia Dye PhD.  Doctor Dye is an expert on military history, an accomplished author, and is the CFO or Warriors, inc.    Julia Dye, Ph.D. keeps the Entertainment Industry honest through technical advising and performer training, and helps Hollywood directors capture the realities of warfare in all aspects of the media. As a partner in the consulting firm Warriors, Inc., she was Weapons Master and provided training to Colin Farrell for the film Alexander and with the military advisory team, oversaw historical accuracy for the HBO series, The Pacific, among many other productions. Dye earned her doctorate in Hoplology (the anthro-pology of human conflict) from The Union Institute & University. Her business background includes venue producing at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she handled all production needs for Figure Skating and Short Track Speed Skating. She is married to Captain Dale Dye, USMC(R).   Tim Kennedy’s legend began at his local Army recruiter’s office on September 12th, 2001. His training to earn his Green Beret was featured in the book “Chosen Soldier.” Kennedy is now a Ranger qualified Special Forces Sniper with deployments in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and multiple other deployments around the world. He is the only soldier to win the grueling 3 day All Army Combatives Tournament three times. Kennedy has a black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Modern Army Combatives. He is also one of the top ranked mixed martial arts fighters in the world, a position he achieved while simultaneously serving his country at the highest levels of special operations. He is currently ranked among the top Middleweights in the UFC. Tim has been featured on many television shows, most recently “Hunting Hitler” on the History Channel   Mike Simpson has served over three decades in the military as an Airborne Ranger, a Special Forces Operator, and finally as a Doctor of Emergency Medicine assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). Throughout his career, Mike has deployed to 17 different countries, from counter-narcotics operations in the jungles of South America, to the Global War on Terror (GWOT) in Southwest Asia and North Africa. Along the way, Mike has been trained as a demolitions expert, SWAT Sniper, High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) parachutist, civilian paramedic, Special Forces Medic, Operations and intelligence Sergeant, and finally, a board certified Emergency Medicine Physician. Mike is also a martial arts enthusiast, who trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. His passion for martial arts motivated him to become a practicing fight doctor. As one of the foremost experts in both tactical trauma medicine and combat sports medicine, Mike is highly sought after as a lecturer and instructor, working extensively with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters, law enforcement, and military organizations providing medical care and training.
