Skeptik v každoročních summitech vidí nákladná setkání pokrytců, kteří ze z celého světa sletí na jedno místo a dva týdny se handrkují nad větami nějaké dohody. Deklarují různé líbivé sliby a leccos lakují na zeleno. Dělají to tak desítky let, ale zahřívání planety a související emise skleníkových plynů stále sílí.Méně kritický pozorovatel ovšem ocení, že se lidé z bezmála dvou stovek zemí s různými zájmy dokážou v dnešním světě vůbec na něčem civilizovaně dohodnout, respektovat vědecké poznatky, snažit se plnit nějaké společné cíle, brát ohled na dohodnuté limity, posouvat věci drobnými kroky kupředu a přitom brát v potaz nejzranitelnější chudé země, na které globální změna dopadá.A pravdou je, že kdyby státy vůbec nehleděly na přelomovou Pařížskou dohodu, na níž se shodly na obdobné konferenci před 10 lety, tak by mohl být vývoj změny klimatu podněcovaný lidmi ještě významně horší. Teď navíc přibývá indicií, že růst emisí skleníkových plynů by mohl v tomto desetiletí konečně dosáhnout celosvětového maxima mimo jiné díky extrémnímu snížení ceny energie z obnovitelných zdrojů jako jsou solární elektrárny a jejich rychlému rozvoji. Letos se konference (COP30) konala v brazilském Belému - v amazonském městě propastných sociálněekonomických rozdílů na dohled od deštného pralesa.Vůbec poprvé se COPu nezúčastnilia delegace Spojených států, které pod vedením Donalda Trumpa znovu odstupují od Pařížské dohody. To mělo na jednání a jejich dynamiku podstatný vliv. Jak se to na COP30 projevilo a kam dospěl vývoj ochrany klimatu hodnotí v podcastovém rozhovoru Pavel Zámyslický, který vede odbor politiky ochrany klimatu na Ministerstvu životního prostředí a za Česko i Evropskou unii na COPech vyjednává už bezmála 20 let. Ptá se emotivně spisovatel, skeptik a popularizátor vědy Leoš Kyša a dodává, že právě nespravedlnost světa ho motivuje psát knihy. V jeho knihách, jejichž většinu vydal pod jménem František Kotleta, totiž může hrdina spravedlnosti dosáhnout. V reálném světě to je jinak, jak Kyša dokresluje příběhem jedné vraždy. V žánru scifi a fantasy je jeden z nejúspěšnějších v Česku, vedle postapokalyptických příběhů se ale věnuje třeba i situaci v Sudetech, odkud pochází. Sám byl komunista a má pochopení pro lidi, kteří jsou uzamčeni v jednom myšlenkovém světě. Aby se změnil, musel odejít pryč. Mluvili jsme o tom, proč nemá smysl snažit se utéct před jaderným útokem, o vyvracení nesmyslů a zbytečných diskuzích, o tom, co může udělat ze Sudet oblast s buducností. Hincová Frankovská vyvrátila jeden z najčastejších hoaxov o Rómoch. Ide o tvrdenie, že nepracujúca osoba so štyrmi deťmi dostáva viac ako niekto, kto pracuje. Touto témou sa opakovane zaberala aj facebooková stránka Hoaxy a Podvody – Polícia SR, naposledy v marci 2023. Šéfka Demagog.sk sa venovala aj údajným bytom zadarmo pre Rómov.Etnograf René Lužica okrem iného uviedol, že základným problémom je kultúrny konflikt medzi väčšinou a menšinou. Podľa neho sa to deje dlhodobo a po celom svete. „Národnostné menšiny vždy ťažko bojovali o svoje prežitie,“ hovorí. Lužica ďalej vraví, že je v otázke vyriešenia generačnej chudoby skeptik. Podľa neho to pôjde samovývojom, „Politická reprezentácia s týmto problémom nepohne.“

I díky tomu navrhl začátkem 90. let Vladimíru Špidlovi, aby ukončil činnost Fondu národního majetku, a postaral se tak tehdejšímu premiérovi pravděpodobně o exkluzivní zážitek vidět prvního byrokrata na světě, který chce zrušit svůj úřad. Česká ekonomika je teď podle něj na startovní čáře. Skeptik by řekl, že na ní přešlapuje příliš dlouho, Juchelka primárně věří v obrovskou sílu tuzemských podnikatelů, kteří jsou často schopni přizpůsobit se novým podmínkám lépe a rychleji než jejich zahraniční konkurenti. Pokud ale nedáme dostatečný důraz na podporu inovací, nových průmyslů a oborů podnikání, zůstaneme soutěžit na půdě levné pracovní síly s dalšími zeměmi a nikdy se z toho nevymaníme. Hlavní limit, který přitom budeme muset překonat, jsou naše hlavy. Hlas, který by k tomu vyzýval, tady zatím chybí. Mluvili jsme ale i o „bolestínkování“ nad bruselským diktátem, vizích současné vlády nebo o vánočním fetiši.

Skeptik decided to take us all on a feel trip this week with our first dive into the world of animated films, Grave of the Fireflies. Directed by Isao Takahata in 1988, this is a harrowing Studio Ghibli film about the horrors of war. Told through the perspectives of a child, Setsuko, and her older brother, Seita, we follow the pair as they struggle to survive a war-torn Japan during WWII and maintain a semblance of happiness within the brief pockets of peace they experience. Fair warning, this is a really heavy episode, but that doesn't mean we can't recommend watching it before listening.
